Is that not like saying without getting an entry pass, Kareem, The Dream, both Malones, Duncan etc cannot do damage?
No its not. Those 3 can flat out ball and get theirs in any game. Go watch Kareem vs Dr J on youtube, then refresh yourself on Hakeem vs Ewing and Hakeem vs Admiral. Then come back and apologize.

Yes but he needed a platform to showcase he can be a leading man- opportunity.

And he grabbed it with both hands.
The NBA is rigged, they chose their stars and also bring about rules which elevates these so called stars stats.
Agreed on the first. But NBA is no more rigged than other work places. You can be gamed out of rotation for many reasons, which might have little to do with your skills. Regular workplace ish. Brunson fell into the hands of the type of coach that loves his grit. And he took full advantage. It might not work out that way on other teams.

Yes but other players are also on the loaded team and can't do what he does. It's not like you can load up on Durant and leave the others open

The truth is certain guys need to be the focal point of teams to thrive. While others don't. You can see how useless Embiid looks, even Tatum and Steph don't look themselves
No doubt. Olympics needs a different skill set, you have to be more of an all rounder as opposed to leading a team built around you. Which makes Durant's scoring even more special.

To be more specific, you can have a skill that makes you the best of the best. Making that skill shine in a team not built around you is a different matter. You do have to "see" the game different and know how to position yourself so that you are a plus not a zero or minus even to the team.

It's more because he is an extremely effective he is a great ISO scorer.
And he flourishes due to the lack of attention on a loaded Team....
Its more than that. There are many great iso scorers playing this olympics. Its the dedication to the craft that produces this kind of result.

I have always liked his leadership qualities. Worth emulating imo. I hope some of it rubs off on Curry as well. I feel like Curry is a little too self deprecating at times. I would like to see him voice the direction of the warriors more post Klay. Curry could have carried this flag as well, he has the body of work.

Dude's a renegade. He don't hold his tongue for nothing.

I'm amused that he flat out said what we had all been thinking loudly at that Summer League game. We know he definitely ain't making the Olympics after that
He didnt say this out loud though, and I dont think he knew he was being recorded. Was that angela reese on the far left? That girl cracks me up. She jus dey tend her baby hair jejely, refusing to engage in wahala grin grin

JB I think seems like someone that might not get along either with the higher ups or teammates or whatever but he should be allowed to vent

Why do we like to not allow people express their frustrations whenever they feel wronged. If I'm the Finals MVP in the NBA I think I've earned the right to speak if I'm excluded from the Olympics while the team takes old ass KD and Bron
Social intelligence. You can be book smart, and not emotionally intelligent. Yeah its JBs right to vent as he likes, but it is also other peoples right to react to your venting like they want. Which means you can be really smart, mean well, but your road is harder than it should be.

For example in this matter, guy man should have congratulated both teammates, keep your wisecracks to yourself and mechonu! Let others fight for you! Unless of course you already burnt bridges by acting like you know it all. And I like JB a lot, I like his zeal, but guy man is missing some wisdom.

Lol. Guy. Those two are not boys. And to be honest I have no issues with it. It's better we know now than we alarmingly came to find out with MJ and Pippin

That's just not the response you give to your partner in crime not being called to the team. They've been teammates for 7 years.

There's something there. Maybe mutual jealousy even. Their personality can be such to where it never gets overt but camaaan

There's a few whispers or whispering about JB and his SJW/Woke tendencies that have got him a bad rap in the past. JT is the more commercially acceptable less polarizing guy and so he gets pushed front and center more

Kawhi is not that big of a star compared to Bron, KD and Steph. I can actually make a basketball excuse for why JB wasn't taken. There's more need for a Derrick White than a Jaylen Brown. Especially considering Olympic ball is different.
They are teammates. They dont have to be buddies. Obviously Tatum doesnt even want to touch the issue. Meanwhile JB is going nation of islam all over twitter lol. 2 different personalities, its ok that they will never mesh offcourt. This isnt a big deal imo. Nothing to see here. And JB needs to get over himself for reals. His game is not what team usa needs

The thing about this kid, and I guess you can question the quality of opposition or what not is that he seems like a solid defender. I was impressed by his lateral movement and positioning

I wonder why they were pissed at Rachel Nichols. Her analysis of him was about spot on. If he's even half as good as Marcus Smart they should be grateful cos his offense is awful, he's not someone that strikes me as a player that would ever be a good scorer.
He does see the game. An SG that can play lockdown D is a valuable asset, but that SG has to have a reliable shot to even smell the floor in today's game. Lets see if the game starts to slow down for him, he needs more scoring output for all that D to make sense.

It's common sense to say when Lebron leaves Lakers, Bronny will be kicked out too. Nepotism is nepotism and there is no other name for it. He is not NBA material, period. He is only being baby sat because of Bron Sr.
Me Im an optimist, Im hoping the lad proves everyone wrong. But the look on his face, first summer league game, guy man looks like he is in way over his head. At the very least he needs to stop overthinking, avoid all social media and control what he can, namely his own game and how much he learns. To be in the NBA is an achievement anyhow you look at it, and it can never be taken away from him. Make the best of it. Easier said than done though, the pressure is huge right now. I hope Bronny is off social media for his mental healths sake!
SportsRe: The NBA Begins by birdman(m): 3:43pm On Jul 09, 2024
this nepotism talk is going nowhere. the fact that we are even talking about it proves my earlier point. Lebron did a huge disservice to his son with this nonsense. Dude probably would have been picked higher. I know pops wants to play with his son, but surely not at the risk of your son's career. This was a terrible move tbh. Very selfish too.

Ive had time to sit on it, the only good reason I can see why a father would ensure his son falls to a lower oick so they can play together is if he believes his son wasnt that good to start with. This means the ONLY good reason I can see for Lakers drafting Bronny is nepotism. SOmeone convince me Im wrong pls

The fit is a bit weird to me, the Kings love to play fast and move the ball a lot in the half court. Derozan for all his shot making is a ball stopper. Also this doesn't move the needle defensively at all.
IMHO, the kings just moved off a player who is a better fit for their team, but one who chokes big time in the playoffs, for a player who is definitely not a good fit, but one who is way better at getting you a bucket when you need one
True, but he has fit all the 3 teams he played for. I think he fundamentally is a team player and can get buckets. I man, Sabonis worked out for the kings. I think coach Brown can cook up something. Plus Derozan has never been a grumbler, I dont think he starts today.

Roland17:
I agree but he is going to be a starter and that is going to affect the pace and style of their game. Also, DeRozan doesn’t play off the ball which will mess their chemistry.
I always remember his time with the spurs and how he morphed his game, became better actually. I think he can do the same here. Lets see sha!
SportsRe: The NBA Begins by birdman(m): 1:11am On Jul 08, 2024
Roland17:
I don’t think it is a good trade if you ask me. DeRozan plays at a slower pace than the Kings fast pace offense.

H. Barnes heading to the Spurs
He gives them a different look though. That midrange game will do some damage

Klay basically flipped the bird on his dad and refused to meet the team that pays his dad and reportedly offered him more money, let that sink in.
After taxes, it was less money. Still though, even his dad's history was not enough. Same with Derozan. LA is hometown and was a perfect fit!

No him playing is fait accompli but I doubt in the summer league is what I'm saying.

They are now a banter franchise. You can see no serious minded player or coach wan come there. They have showed you winning is not their priority with all their moves

Why I think they might hold him out for summer league is if he struggles it won't bode well for the season. The optics and chatter would be nuclear so them fit wan avoid am altogether
Jeanie Buss underestimated what a serious minded guy like Jerry West brings to the table. Its not just the players, its also what you surround them with, which is why a good GM is always part of a championship team. She let her personal animus get in the way of business sense. Eventually even Jerry Wests proteges Kuptchak and her brother were also booted. Lakers have gone downhill since then. After that ring with Lebron, that squad should have been kept as is!

Jeanie sweetened the pain a bit by hiring Magic as long with Pelinka, but in the long run, you can now see Pelinka is really her guy. Magic was just hired to contain the initial fallout. Apparently Pelinka and Jeanie buss love the spotlight and can be very petty. I can see why any basketball player would think thrice before going to lakerland.

I salute Lebron for investing his family into this quagmire grin Well sha, he too loves noise and spotlight, so, I guess they kinda fit. He should sha remember they can get petty. They dont play nice guy like you do in the playofs Lebron!

LMAO! A40 na my guy.

Can you picture the Lakers locker room when the season starts? How do you think the other players would react with Bronny in there? Will they accept he earned his spot? Bronny has a long tough road.
I feel like Lebron made a very selfish move here. Maybe with time I will understand it, but I feel like he has unwittingly used his son to generate more news at the expense of his son's career. It would have been better for the boy to start out on his own on some other team, and grow into his own man. This feels like "the decision" part 2. Except his son is now in the circus.

Anyhow this is a father-son thing and I got mines, but I think you gotta be careful with this love thing. Too much can be as bad as too little. I dont like this target and pressure on the boy's back! I hope Im wrong, but when I think how long it took Tatum to come into his own, in spite of the skill set, does LA have the patience for this? I dont think so.

Interesting bunch of moves by the Clippers. Offloading Westbrook, let PG walk and have added Kevin Porter Jr and Derrick Jones Jr

Even Harden's 2year deal is a player option on the second year.

I think this is a lot smarter than maxing out on Paul George.

I have never understood GMs who overpay players you know well and good are tried and tested failures especially when you are trying to win a chip. Good on the clips that they were not delulu
They stopped their delulu finally grin. Considering they gave up Shai and like 5 1st round draft picks for PG3, Im glad they were humble enough to walk away instead of throwing good money after bad. PG3 can be an effective complement to a playoff tem in the east. West is the jungle right now

After one night of sleeping over it, this is going to be entertaining. All that x-os talk talk, we will get to see how Reddick and LA adjust if and when they get punched in the face. Im never a hater, so I wish Lebron the best still. Who knows, I may be wrong again embarassed

Yes but it did feel like the winning teams were moving away from 3pt spamming. Prior to this season 4 of the last 5 title winning teams were average to bad from 3
Was it really the celtics fault though? If you opponents are clueless on defense, you are not in the finals to teach them how to do their job. You take advantage until they solve it. I think thats why the victory is so muted, Dallas didnt put in the effort worthy of a WC champion, so we didnt have an interesting finals. The problem for Dallas is that backcourt will now beleive they never have to change their game, and I see 3 or 4 years of pain for Dallas before they realize they will have to trade one or two of these prima donnas

Btw donlittle25, have you recovered yet? I waited a week to see if I can reopen your trauma. All love from I-45 south! grin

Some people argue they wish Willie was more vocal in support of civil rights movement during his time but Willie did his in a different way. He did not like to dabble into politics and stayed away from making public comments about it. One thing we can all agree on is that through his performance on the field, he paved a path and built a strong foundation of inclusion for black and minority sports players in America. Few years ago, I read his book, "24, life stories and lessons from the hey say kid" and Willie did not stray too far from baseball and that was who he was.
#Sayheykid
Im ok with folks staying in their lane and not dabbling into things they cant handle. No one knows you better than you know yourself and you should not bite off more than you can chew based on other people's recommendations. If you go to jail for speaking out, its your career and freedom on the line, all the folks cheering you on will just continue talking and living their own lives.

All that being said, I can also see the other side of the argument, that as a black male with some influence in that time period, you cant just be enjoying other people's bloody sacrifice and just stick to on the field stuff. Then again, a large portion of the black population didnt do much for civil rights either, so I dont think its fair to single him out just because of success.

Personally, I feel his legacy will always be muted in people's minds for his decisions though.Food for thought for those of us still very far from 90! Im not suggesting go out and protest, but at least have it in the back of your mind you may have to sacrifice something somewhere to pay it forward. I apologize for preaching grin

It's due to His age I said we all knew it was coming. It was only a matter of when but it's still sad nonetheless.
How will we describe Kobe's own then? But I feel you, there is a sense of loss of greatness and someone you feel you knew. Maybe I've just seen too many recently and my perspective has shifted.
