Roland17: For someone who now identifies with his Indian origin, Kyrie should know better than to disrespect tradition and culture. The day he returned to Boston and stomped on Lucky, he not only infuriated the fans, he inherited bad luck in games against the Celtics.
Kyrie has continuously tried to push narratives about the Boston with the aim of demarketing and discouraging players, particularly free agents from joining the team but somehow, Holiday and Porz have had nothing but spectacular things to say about the team, fan base and City. The City and fans are clearly in his head. Infact, Holiday raved about the fan base yesterday.
For those who know me, I am a big Kyrie supporter and will always be. I have always argued for him and will continue to but he needs to leave Boston alone. Kyrie raised points other players have raised, so its not like he said something new. Jrue of course will be very comfortable with Boston, his wifey already helps him there. But Boston will always be uncomfortable for guys like Kyrie, even Jaylen who I think has just learnt not to say much. Both those guys are very cerebral, as in they think a lot, and they already dont fit in much among NBA players. Black folk tend to be easy going, and they will forget all the slights and disrepects that come your way in a city like Boston. Except guys like Kyrie, Jaylen who will just sit down and analyze over and over And Im not blaming Boston here, it just is what it is. I hope the Jayson/Jalen duo can handle this success as well as they handled the past failures! PS, we are still waiting for the meerkat reunion, pls dont dissapoint |

Acrobatics no be skill, the skill is in scoring efficiently with the least amount of effort. A lot of media content is for clicks. You would be a fool to base your life on online advice without doing your homework first. Shout out to Mase who kept it 100 and gave Kyrie his flowers, but also said the guy has several areas where he is not elite. It is what it is. At this stage of his career, I dont think Kyrie will change those aspects. And he still a good person. But he is not the top PG, top guard, top whatever folks were trying to make him. |

A40: Mazulla is basically playing Daryl Moreyball. The difference is he's going to be the one to reap the benefits this year
He tried it last year with the spamming but unluckily for him he ran into the Heat team that went band for band with him
Think about it. Game 7. Celtics shot 9-42 Heat shot 14-28
People can talk about Luka and what Kyrie didn't do till they're blue in the face. All I need to do is look at the Box scores and see that the Celtics are shooting and making double the 3s at a higher efficiency than the Mavericks. It is mathematically impossible to win a playoff series with those odds Its posible, if you throw away analytics and play traditional high IQ bball. Jaylen and Tatum are rhythm jump shooters. If you play honest defense and tighten rotations and minimize the gimmicks, they wont be shooting like they are in an open gym.. And therein lies the wahala, all these "analysts" hyping Kyrie because of handles, hyping Luka because of box score. Like Mase put it, if you sit down and look at the totality of basketball, both guys really good, all stars even, but all this top 10 guards, best pg ever, all those titles are premature and frankly nonsense. Who here thinks Kyries handles are better than alston rafer? You know how many new york pgs could play that way if it was allowed in the nba in their time? What is the point of Luka dropping bombs on offense and acting like chicken on defense? A more balanced team like the Wolves, or Nuggets or Thunder, or even Warriors/Lakers would have made this series more interesting. |

A40: People will over analyze this game again instead of applying Occam's razor.
Another game the Mavs lost by 7 but the Celtics outshot them 17-9 from 3. As anti 3pt spamming as I am even I recognize that is too much a handicap to overcome. The Mavs are essentially starting games down 24pts.
Unless you bring back the hand check rule it's mathematically impossible to win when the other team is making 8 to 10 more 3s per game than you every game.
What's worse if you hit those 3s it opens up whatever inside game you're trying to play and you expend less energy playing catch up.
Taking 25 threes when your opponent is taking 46 (2nd in finals history) is coaching malpractice.
Pundits and talking heads will come and play Monday morning Quarterback again when the problem is glaring and obvious. Wetin Luka wan play again wey pass wetin e play today.
The Heat beat the Celtics last season by beating them at their game. The only game they won this year same thing. Cavs did same thing in Game 2. Thinking you will beat a team taking combined 50 more 3s than you is insanity. When you get tired, you resort to 3s |

You must play defense! I was annoyed when I saw Wolves deferring to Doncic and Irving. You should never be concerned when you see either of those guys defending you. And as you wear them out, it will reflect in their offense |

steady986: The moment you accept that 70m is an enormous amount of money to offer anyone in any circumstance, you'd better understand this whole situation. Has Hurley touched 70m in his entire life? And it's not like he was asked to leave UConn to come to the Pistons or some poverty franchise. It's the Lakers we're talking about.
70m is a lot of money to offer a first time head coach. Him rejecting that offer was purely for basketball reasons. Why do you think college coaches like the great John Wooden with 10 NCAA championships and Mike Krzyzewski with 5 NCAA championships never coached in the NBA? Do you think it's because they were never sought after or they weren't offered enough money? None of that. Those guys found their niche in the collegiate level and they built their legacies there. Dan Hurley clearly wants to follow that path.
You listen to all these daily sport shows and everybody is spilling the same thing saying it's because of money. Is there an amount of money that cannot be turned down? Sure. But you would be more willing to part with such money if it were a Steve Kerr or a Spoelstra, not Dan Hurley who has never coached a single NBA game. You might think the Lakers have become a laughing stock after this incident but they would have become a bigger laughing stock if they offered say 15m per year and he turned out to be a disaster. No problems here, what you are saying sounds reasonable as a GM. You definitely dont want to overpay. Then we remember your westbrook saga and we have to laugh at you anyways |

steady986: Bro, he might have won the shiniest things in college, but it's still college. Let's not get ahead of ourselves here If you're suggesting to make a first time NBA coach straight out of college the highest paid coach in the league, then you better wake up. Kerr, Popp and Spo make 17.5, 16 and 15 respectively. You're suggesting he gets paid similar amounts?
When the rumors of $100m were flying around last week, I just laughed it off as ridiculous and I knew it wasn't going to happen. I think that $70m was the right offer and I'm glad the Lakers didn't bulge.
And you can take this to the bank, he's not getting offered anything near the 70m Lakers offered him Lets step back and think about this. First, kudos to Lakers front office for trying to make a big move. The problem with big bold moves is that if you fail you fail bad. So its not all bad. What then is the problem here? You have Hurley who rebuilt a Division 1 program, got everyone to buy into his culture, won back to back championships and is now considered a godfather other programs are trying to steal. He has players returning, excellent recruiting prospects, has the support of fan base and university, and strong family network. And he is about to get paid big because uconn does not want to lose him. The future is bright! steady986 , you as a Lakers GM, you want this man to leave all of that, leave family support, to come to LA, coach a team that has one almost retired superstar, has been swept multiple times in the playoffs, has bad habits and does not play hard until it has to, and fires coaches every 2-3 years. Did I mention how injury prone the franchise players are? Please tell me, what do you offer this man to sweeten his mind to make the jump from certain greatness to probable failure? Are you going to offer him less than he stands to make where he is, or will you offer him more to make the risk worth it? Now you know why Lakers deserve to be called block heads here. If you are going to go big and bold, go big and bold all the way. Dont go out recruiting talent like a lion, and when its time to pay up, you pay like bingo wey dey waka street! |

steady986: What are you even saying? $70m 6yr contract is a low ball offer? Even if it would have made him the 5th highest paid coach in the league? I don't think money was the issue in all this. Hurley didn't want to take on the challenge, moreso because he was a king in college basketball and had the opportunity of doing a 3-peat. And who knows, UConn would probably table a better offer than the 6yr $32m they gave him. He will get paid more where he is. He said the nice honorable and classy things you say when you decline a job offer, but in the next paragraph the money issue was brought up. If you already know this guy would get a big check staying at college, why would you go after him and not offer him more? E no make sense. |

It explains why it took Hurley this long to respond. Probably liked the opportunity, but could not get past the disrespect. You cant get past how bad Kyrie and Luka's defense is. It didnt bite them vs Timberwolves because that was an inexperienced team playing on raw talent. I saw Minnessota bigs taking 3s when mismatched with guards! The foolishness of bball analytics cost them. If you have a mismatch, you exploit it, make the defense work, not take a statistically better 3. What does statistically even mean, lol
The celtcis are more balanced, more experienced. They arent going to panic when they see Luke or Kyrie guarding them. If Im the celtics, I would bother Luka all 48 minutes, leave it to Kyrie and the rest of the team to try to beat us for 48 minutes. Unless Mavs start playing good D, gon be a short series! |

A40: Shipping out AD means the Lakers have slam the door shut on any type of contention. You will never be able to cobble up anything in a trade to get AD short of Luka, Jokic and Giannis to a lesser extent
Hurley is definitely a much better option and ruins things for us that were hoping to see a circus show next season
We wanted to see some shits and giggles but apparently the Lakers might be a serious team next season. Still think the age factor of Lebron and the fact that they might not be as lucky with injuries this season as they were last season means they ultimately fail Indeed, I dont see them being as injury free in the upcoming year. But I dont agree on AD's value. Take a look at that team again, they are stacked. Hachimura, Reaves, Russell, Gabe those guys are guaranteed to make noise if used properly. Trade AD and deepen the bench + picks, a win for the 2 trading teams imo. At this point, Lebron is more reliable and less injury prone than AD, a shameful thing to say, but it is what it is |

Roland17: The pursuit of Hurley by the Lakers is a clear message to Ajala and Clutch that they are moving on. For those who don’t follow college basketball, Hurley is as tough as they come. Reddick was never in the running. I dont believe it for one second. No GM in their right mind will make that Steve Nash mistake again. Lakers understand the media, they just throwing names out to soften up the coach they really want. Thats why I can believe it Hurley. Its time to get a solid, grounded basketball coach and get back to fundamentals. This team can win a ring, in fact could have won one this year, but there needs to be some discipline. AD needs to be told to step up. And Lebron needs to be told to back off. A PF in his 20th year should never be the primary ball handler. It didnt work for MJ on the Wizards, and it definitely wont work in todays fast paced NBA. They may have to ship out AD, even Lebron as well if the math makes sense. |

You're basing your argument off their body of work There are so many all time greats I didn't put in that list of generational talent for a reason. When Steph was coming into the league, did you feel like he was one of a kind and was going to tear the league apart? Absolutely not.
Also, there are folks who say Kareem is the GOAT. Bird as well. Same with Russell. Does it mean all those guys are generation talents. If so, then every member of the top 75 would be a generational talent. In that case, donlittle25 is a generation talent as well. Heck, if they were generational talents why weren't they drafted number one? Who passes up on a generational talent at no. 1? I'm not saying that you have to be drafted no. 1 if you are a generational talent, or all no. 1s are generational talents. No. Take KD for instance. I think he's a generational talent. In this league you can't skip steps. You have to go through that heartbreak, you can't escape it unless you're Magic and Duncan Roland17: Absolutely. They have too many players on their roster that can’t create shots for themselves. Also, ANT man looked horrible throughout this series.
Antman showboating during the last seconds of the elimination game against the Nuggets really rubbed me off the wrong way. He also made it worse calling out Kyrie during this series but couldn’t match his words as Kyrie smoked him.
