I haven't watched TNT for a minute, but how did I ever manage to listen to Reggie Miller? Man, the guy is ANNOYING to listen to. He just stays on one topic and whines and grinds it to dust all game. Tonight its ben simmons. Every minute he has something to say. Every minute! Even when the guy is not holding the ball.

I have nothing against Harden. But I dont think he will be happy here. Plus we have rookies that need the playing time and focus. Some folk in Htown are tired of the rebuilding already, but we need to see this through

Rivalries only form from teams repeatedly playing each other, especially if the strength of the squads allows for both teams to exchange wins especially in the playoffs.
The issue now is that, this past season, makes 4 straight NBA finals, where the two teams in the previous finals not only did not make the finals they did not even make the conference finals.

Good point! Indeed the league is very skilled, and there are half a dozen championship contenders unlike before.

To add to that, FA is very loose these days. Jordan, Magic, Bird, Isaiah, Hakeem (he was really retired when he went to raptors) etc stayed on one team their whole career. Worst case, some guys played for 2 teams, while at their peak. Guys like Barkley, Shaq played for 2 teams. Meanwhile, today, Lebron, the face of the league has played for 4 teams! Durant is on his way there as well

The last surviving NBA rivalry is dead. There are no more NBA rivalries in this generation and it sucks.

There used to be historical rivalries like Bird v Magic, GOAT v Isaiah Thomas, Lakers v Celtics, Bulls v Pistons, Pistons v Sixers, Lakers v Suns, Jazz v Rockets, Pacers (Reggie Miller) v Knicks , Pat Riley v Phil Jackson…

I mean teams, players and coaches that hate each other before, during and after the game!!!

There are ways to fix this. But the guys that make money off the nba have decided that a safe, harmless product with no bite is best bang for the buck. If you want rivalries, you need strong personalities that inspire loyalty in the fan base. And you need to allow the game to be rough a little, so that the beloved personality can be bushwacked often. All the rivalries you mentioned above have it.

The nature of the game has also changed. It favors cartoonish high scoring games over defensive slugfests. Not only the scores are fake. Even the fans are bandwagon, no real loyalty. Some of that is on ownership as well, when you move seattle supersonics to OKC thunder, etc after a while fans realize to not waste their energy on a billionaires pet project.

Yo need to see how we were rabid vs Utah and looked down on the Mavs back in the day. But most of us learned lesson and grew up.

Warriors are fine. Championship teams usually have a letdown the next year - it is hard to play with 100% effort after the roller coaster emotions to winning a ring.
