Politics is a dirty game but APC took it to the next level.
When it comes to character assassination, mischief, propaganda and misinformation , APC has succeeded in weaponizing these and ingraining it as a primary operational tactic and a core value of their party ideology.

I remember back in 2014 after robbers attacked a bank in Lagos, Governor Fashola announced that the reason why the attack was successful was because GEJ was visiting Lagos and all available police were drafted to his security detail . Guess what, a few weeks or months later, another deadly attack occurred at another bank. Nobody to blame for this one.

Consider the blatant propaganda that was dispensed in 2015 to help them win the election, then all through the 8 years of Buhari’s presidency, it was a truckload of lies/excuses/misinformation one after the other. From the minister of information dishing out daily doses of misinformation such as BokoHaram has been defeated to the Vice President saying at a London press conference that things in Nigeria were not really as bad as the media reports it.

Their governors are not different. Imo state governor Hope Uzodimma’s account of what transpired when the army sacked the town of Izombe was vastly different from reality. It was on record from multiple eye witnesses that the issue started when soldiers stationed there could not reach an agreement on a sharing formula for the proceeds of illegal oil bunkering in the community. However the governor’s press conference told a completely different story .

It was in this administration that we heard government officials talking about snakes and monkeys swallowing money. The stench of impunity had pervaded the entire country and government offices like a foul odour from the orifice of Zeus himself. Bizarre logic and outlandish statements became the norm. We could go and on with examples.

Therefore in this current election cycle , it was hardly surprising to see the same level of blatancy such as the use of fake bishops , stolen image of a different person used to depict a younger Tinubu. This is a level of nonchalance and impunity never before experienced in Nigeria .
The recent charade by Mr lai mohammed in Washington DC where he belatedly huffed and puffed to make a mountain out of a molehill is just a further continuation of this. But it also reveals desperation. Why ?

Because the results in the last election shows clearly that the majority of Nigerians were tired of their bull.shit. Pdp and Lp votes combined were approx 13 million compared to APC ‘s 8.7 million. This was a far cry from 2015 and 2019 results when majority of Nigerians still swallowed their shit . APC having been rattled and still being rattled by the resounding rejection of their candidate and the resounding defeat he suffered in his backyard at Ikoyi / Eti-osa local government , compounded by the fact that even the 4th place contestant refused to congratulate him , finally decided to take the gloves off.

They had nothing they could work with , so they resorted to tapping private calls using supposedly neutral (but) compromised state agencies to look for fuel for their engine of propaganda and mischief. And then the minister of information proceed to USA on a roadshow of shame.

Instead of preparing for the swearing in and the weighty duties of governance in their incoming administration while also taking the high road of fighting the remaining battles at the election tribunal , they have chosen to run from pillar to post and engage in subterfuge and a higher level of deceit/propaganda .

Whatever happens at the tribunal, Nigerians now know what to expect from the APC Afterall, a leopard can never change its spots. Their music has been repeated too often and the soup is now stale.
