MATV: “DON’T DRINK WATER IN CHURCH” — Pastor David Obiyeome’s Strict Rules Spark Massive Debate Online (VIDEO)
A viral video of popular preacher David Obiyeome is currently causing serious reactions across social media after he issued strong warnings about behavior inside church.
During a church service, the founder of Salvation Ministries warned members against chewing gum, drinking water, and using phones inside the auditorium.
According to him:
“You’re not a goat. Don’t chew gum in church. Don’t drink water in church. If you want to drink water, go outside. Don’t use phone at all in church.”
His comments have now divided Nigerians online.
While some people say the pastor is absolutely right about discipline and reverence in God’s house, others believe the rules are too extreme and outdated for modern worship.
But the BIG question people are now asking is:
Has church become too casual nowadays… or are some pastors becoming too controlling?
The reactions under the video are even more shocking than the sermon itself.

While this is good, but I think and still think it's not what should be a thing of concern for the church. It's like one speaking against indecent dressing meanwhile those who are considered to be true christian believers have serious attitudinal and character issues that do not reflect the fruits of the spirit.
While at that, I keep wondering if this issue is being raised as a way to discipline congregants, why is it that we don't hear about the Lord doesn't receive tithe from those who are into sin and who continue in sinful acts ranging from adultery, fornication harlotting/prostitution of different forms, stealing by fraudulent practices, telling lies to make more gains in business, over profiting in business, etc, etc.
Or make it simple, let a comment be said, that anyone who sins certain kinds of sin within a month shouldn't pay their tithe and give offering within that month and let's see what will happen and if they do, they are only giving the church and not God because God doesn't receive anything from a sinner except a repentant heart.
There's no moral sense and justification on the issue of the North being short changed and the South has ruled more and there has to be a balance.
Firstly, it would be completely naive and full stupidy for any sane person to have agreed that after the death of Yar'Adua that the VP GEJ would handover stand aside and let the North bring someone to complete Yar'Adua's North tenure........if that had happened, then it's like some people from a particular region who are always favored with very low cut off marks when it comes to the educational sector in gaining admissions into educational institutions of higher learning, always dictating to the rest of the others.
That aspect of talk wil forever remain to those who are very gullible.
The constitution of the FRN remains supreme. Let them take their gullibility to their sharia estates.
The Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Economic Affairs, Tope Fasua, has clarified his controversial statement suggesting that N10,000 could feed a family for several days.
Fasua said he actually referred to “a person” and not a family.
He made the clarification in a statement posted on his Facebook page on Sunday, following criticism over a viral clip from his interaction with Kay’s Hikers Club in Abuja on May 5, 2026.
The presidential aide said the remark was made in the context of rural Nigeria and was immediately corrected during the session.
“My attention has been drawn to the viral two-second clip of my interaction with Kay’s Hikers Club held on May 5, 2026, at The Destination, Abuja, wherein I stated that N10,000 is enough to ‘feed a modest family for several days’.
“There is a need to clarify that I meant to say ‘person’, and not ‘family’, and we were speaking at that point in the context of rural Nigeria.
“I immediately clarified my statement right there and then and emphasised to the audience the need for serious personal financial management in the context of global hardships,” he said.
Fasua said the engagement with the group, made up mostly of young Nigerians, lasted over two hours and focused on the country’s economic reforms, taxation policies and opportunities within Nigeria despite prevailing economic challenges.
According to him, some participants were confrontational during the discussion, but he considered the outing necessary to encourage direct engagement between government officials and citizens.
“Still, I believe it was an important outing, such that should be encouraged between government appointees and citizens — especially Gen Zs,” he stated.
He added that discussions during the session touched on issues such as the challenges facing foreign retail chains and the growth of Nigerian-owned businesses.
“In fact, the first salvo of questions was around the issue of Shoprite’s challenges, when I promptly brought up the bustling alternatives like Ebeano, Sahad, JustRite, HyperCity, Bokku, Market Square and other Nigerian brands,” he said.
Fasua also criticised what he described as sensational reporting and selective use of clips on social media, saying comments made during lengthy discussions were often taken out of context.
“We live in a world where people judge by headlines. We also live in a world where the media cleverly maxes out their popularity with sensational headlines and where the selectivity of reportage can put people in awkward situations,” he said.
The presidential aide maintained that despite Nigeria’s challenges, young people should remain optimistic about the country rather than seeking opportunities abroad.
“I will continue to inform the youths of Nigeria that statistically, they are better off building their nation than running abroad to already developed nations where they are often faced with daunting challenges and hurdles,” Fasua added.
Indeed a rural context.... It will not be hard if he can mentions the name of that rural area now that, the context of a family is an individual and not a group of persons.

Richtaiwo: The funniest political fantasy flying around today is the idea that Kwankwaso would agree to deputise Pitobi. The gap is simply too wide. Kwankwaso is a 2-term governor, former legislator, former minister, and a PhD holder with decades of political structure and experience behind him.
So how exactly do people expect a man with such credentials to line up behind someone who finished third despite all the online noise and turned a 4- academic year course into a six-session struggle? Apart from the court judgment that handed him the governorship, what exactly is the intimidating political achievement here? Social media hype is not governance.
I am not really a PO fan but there's no intellectual in what you have just written down.... You outlined the credentials of a Kwankwaso and deliberately left that of PO but to say he finished third place.......!!!
Please can you tell me what did Kwankwaso credentials and political achievement done for Kano State up till now?
If we are to use verifiable data, can you say that the children in Kano who are in secondary school can compete with those in Anambra State when it comes to passing exams and getting high quality grades and results.....
ikeno: Really Don't Know How To Handle This Situation
Few weeks ago an ex of mine who I still keep contact with cause we stay in same state and sometimes she comes over to my place even though am not married but she was once married but due to domestic violence she left are husband and have been fending for her 3 children through her business, called me 2 weeks ago and said her seven old daughter who is the second born belongs to me and the reason she never told me was because I was not ready to settle down then.
She sent me a video of the girl and to be honest, facially she looks like me and few of my friends I showed the video to admitted she looks like me. Since she sent me the video have been in shock and really don't know what to do in such a situation.
Have told her to come to my place this weekend so we can talk about it.
So guys how do I go about this situation any advice will be welcome
Discreetly get something from the child that can be used to know the DNA of the child and if it turns out rightly to be yours... Then take responsibility for the welfare of the child and play a fatherly and daddy role.
Yampotatocarrot: I expect Kwankwaso to be wise and not allow himself to be used, if he wants to be president
If opposition starts spreading news that he's not in league with Obi or he's working against Obi, he'll automatically lose that Obidient crowd he's banking on for 2031, because we all know that's what he's banking on
So, he better put his media team on high alert to always counter any online narrative that'll make him lose his standing with the Obedients come 2031... If na me be Kwankwaso, I go just mumu for the next four years, then ride in with ease
He shouldn't make the mistake Atiku made and is still making
On a more serious note, see how an "unknown" Seriake Dickson suddenly became a powerful man in the whole Nigeria, pulling weights that were hitherto beyond his ability... Finally, God's time is the best o... When he registered the party, he'll never have thought it'll blow like this
He will still lose that Obedient crowd when that time comes. Let's assume that PO even wins this 2027, any mistake of him not going for second tenure will cause him a lot.....
He will be avoided like a plague from even his own kit and kin.
ElSudani: There are at least six foreign telecom companies in Nigeria along with some Nigerian companies. There are foreign companies in the oil industry why are they not colonizing Nigeria yet? A couple of days ago here on this website we have people calling Dangote a monopolist for saying his company intends to provide 20000 MW of electricity for Nigeria. You are damn if you do damn if you don't. Nigerians are wonderful people.
As regards Dangote and his 20000 MW of electricity, I think he should, have that done, first his State of origin and place of residence and secondly he should keep it to just the North region and not Nigeria as a whole.
There are others who would do same on their own State of origin and place of residence.
What is his definition of a modest family and how many days exists in the several, he mentioned?
That's the real question he should ask?!!! I am sure he is not of the modest family!!!!! So it's easy to say anything they like. This same brand of people who shouted it wasn't easy during the PGEJ administration are all out telling us to be patient in their unending lies.
Well Senator Goje is not entirely wrong. But before that is done, why don't he propose a bill that will allow the Chinese government or any other advance country as he mention come and occupy all political positions from Federal to State and Local government, National Assembly(Both houses), all State House Assemblies, all State and Federal Universities, President, VP, State Governors, Deputy Governors, PAs, SSA, etc, etc, run and operate the Nigerian nation for 20 years and hand over to us... This should be the proposal he should be doing and not that no sense he is talking over there......
I bet you, he is among those who give out wheelbarrow and shovel as empowerment tools to his constituents.
writeforusfacts: For years, lemon water has been promoted as a miracle health drink. Celebrities, fitness influencers, and wellness bloggers frequently claim that starting your morning with warm lemon water can “flush toxins” from the body, improve digestion, boost metabolism, clear the skin, and even help with rapid weight loss.
The idea sounds simple and appealing. Just squeeze fresh lemon into warm water, drink it daily, and supposedly your body becomes cleaner and healthier. Because of these promises, lemon water has become one of the most talked-about wellness habits worldwide.
But does science actually support these detox claims?
The short answer is: not exactly.
While lemon water can be part of a healthy lifestyle, the belief that it magically removes toxins from the body is often exaggerated. Understanding the facts behind this trend helps separate real health benefits from internet myths.
What People Mean By “Detox”
The word “detox” is everywhere in the health industry. Detox teas, detox juices, detox diets, and detox supplements are marketed as ways to cleanse the body of harmful substances.
The problem is that many detox products never clearly explain what toxins they are removing or how the process works.
In reality, the human body already has a natural detoxification system. The liver, kidneys, lungs, digestive tract, and skin continuously work together to process and eliminate waste products. These organs remove substances the body no longer needs through urine, sweat, bowel movements, and breathing.
That means healthy individuals do not require special drinks to “activate” detoxification. The body performs this function naturally every single day.
This is why many medical experts remain skeptical of detox trends that promise dramatic cleansing effects without scientific evidence.
Why Lemon Water Became So Popular
Despite the lack of scientific proof behind detox claims, lemon water became extremely popular because it feels healthy and refreshing.
Many people notice they feel better after adding lemon water to their morning routine. There are several reasons for this.
First, drinking water immediately after waking up helps rehydrate the body after several hours of sleep. Dehydration can cause fatigue, headaches, and sluggishness, so proper hydration naturally improves how people feel.
Second, lemons contain vitamin C and antioxidants, nutrients associated with immune support and general wellness.
Third, lemon water often replaces sugary beverages like soda or sweetened coffee drinks. Making that switch alone can improve overall health over time.
Because people feel positive changes from these habits, they may assume lemon water itself is “detoxifying” the body.
The Real Benefits Of Lemon Water
Although lemon water is not a miracle cleanser, it still offers some genuine health advantages.
Helps Maintain Hydration
One of the biggest benefits is hydration. Water is essential for nearly every function in the body, including circulation, temperature regulation, digestion, and nutrient transport.
Some people struggle to drink enough plain water throughout the day. Adding lemon can improve flavor and encourage higher water intake.
Proper hydration also supports kidney function, which plays a major role in filtering waste from the body naturally.
Rich In Vitamin C
Lemons are a good source of vitamin C, an antioxidant that helps protect cells from damage caused by free radicals.
Vitamin C also supports the immune system and helps the body produce collagen, which is important for healthy skin, blood vessels, and connective tissue.
While one glass of lemon water will not transform health overnight, it can contribute to daily nutrient intake.
May Support Digestion
Many people claim warm lemon water helps digestion, especially when consumed in the morning.
There is limited scientific evidence directly proving this effect, but hydration itself supports healthy digestion and bowel movements. Warm liquids may also feel soothing to some individuals.
However, digestive benefits vary from person to person and should not be considered a guaranteed result.
Can Lemon Water Burn Fat?
One of the biggest myths surrounding lemon water is that it melts body fat quickly.
There is no scientific evidence showing that lemons directly burn fat or dramatically increase metabolism. Weight loss occurs when the body burns more calories than it consumes over time.
However, lemon water may support healthy weight management indirectly.
For example, drinking water before meals can help people feel fuller, reducing overeating. Replacing high-calorie beverages with lemon water can also lower overall sugar and calorie intake.
So while lemon water may assist healthier habits, it is not a magical fat-burning solution.
Potential Risks Of Drinking Too Much Lemon Water
Although lemon water is generally safe, excessive consumption can create problems for some people.
Tooth Enamel Damage
Lemons are highly acidic. Frequent exposure to acidic drinks may weaken tooth enamel over time, leading to sensitivity or cavities.
Dentists often recommend drinking lemon water through a straw and rinsing the mouth with plain water afterward.
Heartburn And Acid Reflux
Some individuals experience worsening acid reflux or stomach irritation after consuming lemon water, particularly on an empty stomach.
If symptoms appear, reducing intake may help.
Why Detox Marketing Is So Powerful
Detox products continue to attract attention because they promise quick results. Many people want an easy way to undo unhealthy eating, stress, lack of sleep, or poor lifestyle habits.
The idea of “washing away toxins” with one simple drink feels comforting and achievable.
However, long-term health rarely comes from shortcuts. Consistent habits like balanced nutrition, regular exercise, proper hydration, and quality sleep have a much greater impact on overall wellness than trendy detox routines.
This does not mean lemon water is useless. It simply means the drink should not be viewed as a miracle cure.
What Experts Actually Recommend
Most nutrition experts agree that lemon water can be a healthy addition to a balanced lifestyle, especially if it encourages hydration and reduces sugary drink consumption.
But experts also emphasize that no food or beverage can replace the body’s natural detox organs.
Supporting liver and kidney health through proper nutrition, hydration, exercise, and avoiding excessive alcohol or processed foods is far more effective than relying on detox trends.
Final Verdict
So, can lemon water really flush toxins out of your body?
Not in the magical way social media often claims.
The body already has a sophisticated detoxification system that works continuously through the liver, kidneys, and other organs. Lemon water does not suddenly cleanse the body or remove toxins in a special way.
Still, lemon water can absolutely be part of a healthy routine. It promotes hydration, provides vitamin C, may support digestion, and can help replace sugary drinks.
The truth lies somewhere between myth and reality. Lemon water is not a miracle detox drink, but it is a refreshing and healthy habit that can support overall wellness when combined with a balanced lifestyle.
Lemon mixed with water is no different from what is called lemonade.
For starters, it doesn't detox. That detoxing statement is just a make belief.
While I'll say every persons' metabolism system differs for everyone given their age, weight, kind/type of food intake, kind of work they are at, etc, etc.
Nevertheless, lemon mixed with water is more like having an electrolyte passing through your body system.
For those who would want to try it, should make use of lemon fruit cut into slices and cut cucumber and put in water bottle and put water in it and drink that water. Just pour water whenever the one inside the water bottle is finished. It should replace your water daily intake for a period not longer than fifteen days. But every new day, you have new lemon fruit slices and cut cucumber in the water bottle.
babtoundey: I got myself into this trouble three weeks ago.
I was out of town when I received a call from a friend. We had been friends since when we were in school. Though we didn't see regularly (the last time we saw before this incident was over 8 years ago) but we conversed regularly. When he called he informed me he needed to stay with me that he had an issue with his landlord. He wasn't really explicit or straight in his explanation. When i was reluctant, he mentioned that he was staying for just one week. Okay, no problem. I said.
When i returned home, i refuse to call him because it needed my space for myself so as to be able to attend to some urgent works. The second day after the agreement was sealed, he asked if i had returned i told hime i wouldn't be returning until that evening.
This friend came with his bag very early the following day which was a Monday morning. It was after he settled in that I got to know that he left another friends house for my house. And before he went to that person house, he had been staying with another friend. Whatever reason he left that person's house, i wouldn't know. The moment he came, he started calling people (his mum, brother and girlfriend), citing my address as his current location.
My major headache is, this person had already spent three weeks and he doesn't seem ready to leave. All he does is, press phone, sleep and wakeup. He has already strained my food supply. I am hardly at home; I go to work in the morning and return late at night. I just noticed food I can't finish in two months vanished in two weeks. He uses my toiletries (bathing soap included), my hair cream and body cream.
What pains me is, he isn't coming out straight and is not seem comfortable discussing what his plans are. He only seems fixated with online business or whatsoever.
I will appreciate ideas on how to tell this friend to excuse me.
You are already aware of how many places he has resided before coming to your place and do not know the reason behind why he left.....
There are lots of ways, you can make him leave your house.....but I won't want to tlgo that line.
You just need to tell him to contribute his quota as regards feeding in the house and use of toiletries. He should stop using your bathing soap especially if it's not his type......let him get his own or you can get him a pack of bathing soap(6 pieces) and observe him.
We all know this issue about assets accountability is just to save face and stall time. Those dismissed police officers are supposed to have taken to a High Court and tried and given judgement... Virtually everything in Nigeria is all about cosmetic and face saving. Every government wants to appear to be working but at the end nothing is actually working that's working.
richmond500: Oga, if you don't know what is happening in Rivers State, please rest. The presidency has favoured SIM, all his loyalist has bought form for house of assembly. Also George Kelly is not favourite to win the APC primaries, nevertheless Wike's PDP structure has a shaky foundation. He is losing at all fronts,
All these strange narratives did not start now... Were had heard the President favoured SIM and named him 001 and even the APC National Chairman did same, till it was all debunked and the President named Wike given him the position as leader of the State and much more
The only shaky foundation existing is of those who trade on false narratives like that of the narratives from non existing Court judgements .....
Kwakwanso dragged NDC party registration card from obi.
In an interesting development, barely hours into the defection of the duo of aliyu kwakwanso and Peter obi to NDC video footage of the official registration with NDC has shown kwakwanso already dragging the NDC party registration card from Peter obi at the declaration point. The incident occured as the NDC party chairman and the delta state senator seriake Dickson were about to present the party card to Peter obi which was swiftly intercepted and snatched by kwakwanso while Peter obi looked on sheepishly. The development showed kwakwanso has positioned himself first before Peter obi. With this it appears kwakwanso is not keen on occupying the vice presidential slot. That kwakwanso pushed himself forward first before obi is a move observers described as indication that kwakwanso might contest the NDC presidential ticket against obi in NDC.
The question now is; should obi lose the ticket to kwakwanso, what next? Will obi support kwakwanso for the presidency or will he port to another party once again? Is kwakwanso indirectly saying he should have the first shot at the presidency instead of obi? Whatever the answer is, time will tell.
Analysts say the situation is fluid for now indicating that Peter obi's problems might not be over because his presidential ambition through NDC ticket might yet again be under threat.
emkz: I do not know when you graduated, but the cost of educating Nigerians is very low. Who do you think is paying for it? Before you start shouting that the quality of education is very low, how come our doctors are saving lives daily and are always sought even by foreigners? Are you aware that a UK agency came to recruit some Nigerian doctors? Do you know why? Because it is cheaper for them to get a Nigerian-trained doctor that to train a doctor in the UK. Where do you think the money that was used to subsidize your education, assuming you attended a public school, came from?
Then compare the cost of treatment in a private and public clinic in Nigeria. Where do you think the cost of subsidizing healthcare in public hospitals is to come from?
In Nigeria, you do not pay toll on public roads. In may advanced countries, you can pay toll over seven times in a two-hour journey. Do you know toll is tax?
Then we enjoyed electricity subsidy for many years. Do you think you can afford to pay for electricity if the actual bill is given to you? Where do you expect the money to come from?
In many countries, tax is a source of revenue. Before you talk about other oil-producing countries, look at their population and do a proper comparison.
See, Nigeria is truly blessed. Nigeria has given me a lot. The country funded my education to the highest level through various scholarships and grants. Some of those scholarships were funded through tax deductions from oil companies. My prayer is for the country to harness out true potentials and no one can stop us. That means getting high quality leadership.
That is what Tinubu brings. That is why he is the best. He articulated his plans and executes them with clarity. Let anyone who dislikes him explain to us what their alternative can do better.
These so called countries you keep mentioning without any specific name that they pay pax, please can you highlight how much is their minimum wage for a civil servant, they don't even have minimum wage but rather living wage and compare to that of Nigeria?
VIDEO: “If we have to borrow money, we will, because borrowing is not leprosy; Nigerians just have to work hard to be able to repay it. - Tinubu says after mortgaging our future. pic.twitter.com/Evq7nJJGgz
Nna2025: So guys, I need help, A friend brought a client for the sale of a property. Finally payment was made on Tuesday and unfortunately, He lost a long battle to an illness on April 16th.
He is separated, has two kids. The question now is, who do I give his share of the money. His mother, siblings, his estranged wife or Charity.
Have been pondering over this the entire week, decided to bring it here to see if you guys can help with quality inputs.
Bless Ya'all.
(1) Where are the kids and who are they with? (2) If the kids are in school, what are their respective classes or what stage ? (3) Do you have any idea if the late man was giving welfare money to the separated wife who doesn't stay with him if she's not with the kids? (4) What's the relationship of the late man with his mother and siblings?
“Nigerian don’t even want 24 hours light, can they even afford 24 hours light ? Nigerians just want to come home at 8pm and meet light so they won’t sweat when they sleep and also meet the light by 7am so they can iron thier cloths and then you can take the light and divert it to… pic.twitter.com/eiLELR0wDu
Make them just go check this person the house he stays, if he is paying light bill as at when due if it's estimated he is on or if he has not run a by-pass if he is on prepaid meter....!!!!
Do you think those who work in the European countries on the government payroll even at the lowest level find it hard to pay electricity bills, come to Nigeria, even the serving senator of the FRN will tell you they can't pay such electricity bills.....
9jatriot: There is no bad name that you and your likes did not call this man despite the good job he was dong, but now that he is no longer in charge of the finance ministry, you guys are hoping that he will have a fallout with Tinubu, so suddenly he was now a good finance minister who spoke truth.
The question is when we were telling you he was doing a good job, why did you guys particularly lamba king doubt?
What exactly is the good job that he is that he could not respond to the whereabouts of funds when he was questioned by the house member ?
We will never hear of such wonderful news arising from the Northern region. Well let them continue to be selective in their fighting and eliminating criminal elements within the regions. It's good anyways for only a particular region to not have criminal elements. Very soon they will be no need for military or paramilitary personnel to remain the peaceful regions.
dominique: A cease-and-desist notice has been issued to media personality Robert Ekpo on behalf of his estranged wife, On-Air Personality Mayowa Lambe, demanding a public retraction and N100 million in damages over statements he made about her on a podcast.
The notice, dated April 22 and signed by K. Umoh Esq., was posted on the official X account of Yolanda George-David, founder of Aunt Landa’s Bethel Foundation on Tuesday.
It was issued on behalf of Mayowa through the foundation’s legal department, which focuses on the rescue, rehabilitation and legal support of survivors of physical, emotional and sexual abuse.
It was addressed to Robert Ekpenyong Ekpo and demanded that he immediately cease further publication of alleged defamatory statements, pull down all related content across his platforms, issue a public retraction and apology via the same platforms used to spread the claims, and pay N100 million in damages.
The notice also warned that failure to comply within three days would result in legal proceedings, including claims for aggravated damages, injunctive relief and criminal complaints to appropriate authorities. Third parties who spread the claims online were also put on notice.
The notice read, “You are hereby required to: Immediately cease and desist from further publication or repetition of all defamatory statements.
“Remove all existing defamatory content across all platforms.
“Issue a clear, unqualified, and public retraction of all false statements.
“Publish a full public apology to Our Client via the same platforms used to disseminate the defamatory content.
“Pay the sum of ₦100,000,000.00 as damages.”
The legal action followed Ekpo’s appearance on a recently released episode of The Honest Bunch podcast, where the comedian and radio presenter gave an emotional account of the breakdown of his marriage to Lambe, alleging infidelity, deception and financial strain spanning over a decade.
Roby and Mayowa married in November 2015 after meeting on Instagram, keeping most details of their relationship private.
The dispute burst into public view when reports emerged that Lambe had remarried another man in Texas, United States, without either party having publicly confirmed their separation.
“After 11 years of marriage, I woke up to videos and pictures of my wife on Instagram getting married to another man,” Ekpo said on the podcast.
He alleged that Lambe secretly used contraceptives throughout their marriage while he underwent fertility tests in the belief that he was responsible for the couple’s inability to have children.
“I am 48 years old, I don’t have a kid, I started going for tests because I thought I was the problem, I thought I had fertility issues. I later found out that she was taking contraceptives,” he said.
Ekpo also alleged that Lambe deceived him about the purpose of a trip to Miami, claiming she had travelled for a procedure that would aid conception.
“Mayowa travelled to Miami to do BBL. She told me she went for surgery that would enable her to conceive,” he said.
He further alleged that even routine communication became a point of suspicion during the marriage, with Lambe reportedly questioning him over messages sent to her Instagram inbox.
“If I send my wife a message on her Instagram DM, she would question me why I was sending a message there. She would say ‘they (immigration) check’,” he said.
Ekpo said Lambe had been abroad since 2021 and that he funded her return trip to Nigeria in 2025, only to be received coldly at the airport.
“Since 2021, I have not seen Mayowa again, until last year, I sent her ticket money to come to Nigeria. I went to the airport in two cars. I could not get a clip of hugging my wife.
“She did not kiss me. I slept in the living room for two days. I will send her N200k from the N500k gig,” he said.
He further alleged that Lambe shared an apartment abroad with a male flatmate who he later discovered had been intimate with her.
“She got a house and got a male flatmate. I was not comfortable with it, only for me to find out two days ago that the flatmate was sleeping with her. (It was not the same guy she married). I saw a picture of her sitting on a man’s leg at a restaurant,” he said.
Reflecting on the toll of the relationship, Ekpo said: “10 years of my life. If I had a kid out of wedlock, I would have justified that Mayowa can do whatever she likes, what did I do, but just love.
“Mayowa travelled for six years; with the little money I was earning, I was sending money to Mayowa every time. I was sending flowers.”
The cease-and-desist notice disputed Ekpo’s account on several fronts.
It stated that the traditional marriage between both parties “was mutually terminated with the full knowledge and consent of both families prior to May 11, 2025,” and that no subsisting marital relationship had existed since that date.
The document alleged that Ekpo embarked on “a deliberate and sustained campaign of falsehood, using online platforms and public broadcasts” to spread fabricated narratives about Lambe, including “false allegations regarding infidelity, financial dependency, moral character, and the existence of a marital relationship.”
It added that the statements appeared “calculated to mislead the public, attract attention, and generate sympathy at the expense of our client’s reputation.”
In a direct rebuttal of Ekpo’s specific claims, the notice stated that Lambe possessed verifiable evidence of her own financial contributions to the relationship, documented attempts to facilitate his relocation and advancement abroad, as well as medical and fertility-related records showing that conception efforts were initiated and funded by her.
It also cited communications, including social media interactions and third-party correspondences, which it said directly contradicted his public assertions.
The notice further alleged that despite repeated interventions by family members, mentors and counsellors regarding his conduct, Ekpo had persisted in publishing the claims.
It stated that his actions constituted “serious defamation, causing emotional distress, reputational injury, and loss of goodwill,” for which Lambe was entitled to substantial legal redress.
It further stated that his conduct had exposed Lambe to “widespread online trolling and coordinated defamatory commentary from individuals acting on your false representations.”
The controversy has continued to generate reactions on social media, with public opinion divided.
While Ekpo aired his grievances openly, Lambe largely avoided direct engagement, instead posting messages suggesting she was at peace with her decisions.
Ekpo had not publicly responded to the notice as of the time of filing this report.
RolexOfGeneva: At least he's achieved a lot in life. He's well known by most Nigerian and has played serious roles in central governments. Who are you? What's your name? Who knows you besides your family members and friends?
This you have written is typical and normal portfolio of Nigerians and those within the political environment but it's really nothing when you look at it. There's absolutely nothing substantial in all of it when one looks at it with eagle eyes. Yes, absolutely nothing. Let's see what value will his ambassidorial role bring to Nigerians home and therein.
franchasng: Check the comment I quoted. He talked about individual homes returning excess unused energy back to local grid and they get paid for it, I am against such practice in Nigeria where government agencies only collect from Nigerians and never give back because if they enforce connecting every solar back to government grid, even if you return 1megawatt unused solar power back to government grid, they will never pay you for it.
With the current electricity law and which is good, there's no need to give excess unused solar power to the national grid. That should be given to those within the neighborhood directly who needs and it and they pay to the owner directly. At least that's what the new laws specifies.
In as much as it's not good to wish people bad or evil.... The truth is that this people who are saying there's no christian genocide and that the killing is not religious and they still do porffer permanent solutions to this issues.... Its better this killings comes to their very own doors and plunder them.
It's also high time, the christian community without fear whatsoever arm themselves, protect themselves, defend themselves and run down those who have chosen to come take their lives and livelihood.....those bandits have blood also in them. They are not spirits.
Islie: The clarification followed a viral video in which officials of the Lagos State Ministry of Housing were seen confronting a resident over solar panels installed in a state-owned estate.
It's only those who don't know don't know. Installing a solar panel whatsoever on your existing roof building or else where cannot be considered a structural alterations...... They are trying to use ambuity of words to defraud in government owned estates.
Government wey no provide stable electricity for users. Nigerians are just too docile to the Nigerian system.
