Moventist:

Fubara is a cool guy that's why wike is still trying to misbehave. But trust Rivers, no one is a king. Wike has long lost his relevance in the state. Currently, Fubara is constructing six flyovers and 25 bridges across swamp forest which are more costlier than flyovers . Zonal and general hospitals are being revived. The most cherished is everyone is given free hand to operate

When the bolded is completely done within reasonable time frame then it will be applauded. As regards costlier, it does not really matter, because all projects in the nation are over over bloated.

They are not members of the House

Are you sure?
If they are not members of the house why would the governor put a resolution via the court not to entertain no impeachment notice from them who are supposedly called non members!!!!!

The best thing anyone could say is that the Rivers State does not have any SAM(State Assembly Members).

Who will charge them to court grin

There are lots of people who will write petitions against them regarding any fraudulent acts. The EFFC will be so glad to have numerous cases to investigate and prosecute. It will also enable the FG to employ more persons into the EFFC and other security personnels involved in financial mismanagement.
Remember immunity can't be given to these particular tier of government.
We are getting there. It's just a matter of time.

Good Congratulations to local government areas that their chairmen are not in the same party with the governors. The chairmen will have enough funds to loot, sorry to work with.

There's little to what you can loot when immunity does not cover you.
It's either you work and eat or you eat and spend time in prison. It's all the choice they have.

This is a long overdue judgement, lets trust that this will bring good developments to LGAs. However, i doubt that the judgement will be implemented immediately except the FG is ready for a showdown with state governments....A lose-lose situation! nobody wins.

i will expect both FG/SG to agree a window period for implementation to allow for states to prepare & conduct elections because an immediate implementation could further impoverished the people that the judgement seeks to liberate as some Govs could stop paying salaries if allocation stops immediately and the logistics of FG paying those worker directly could be cumbersome.

The law will take it's course. There is no turning back. There are no sentiments. Everyone will uphold the constitution of the FRN and the judgment of the SC. If the governors like they can instigate the LG staffs, that will not change anything.
Unlike the governors , LGA chairman don't enjoy immunity so they should be mindful and careful if they feel they can be protected by any godfather.

implication now is that FG Now controls whoever is elected LG chairman, The FG will easily select and this Gives APC candidates more advantage, so we expect even fubara chosen ones I mean the few ones he can influence to Rebel against him.....and join with APC FG....of course the FG will dangle the carrot....VERY INTERESTING....when a child is tall like the father, he got no experience and tricks like the father..

The FG cannot control whoever is a LGA chairman. There are certain things that cannot be sustained even with greed.
Little steps irrespective of our corrupt values we will get things right as time goes on.
LGA chairman should as a matter of fact be careful otherwise I see many of them spending prison time like crayfish in a sack bag if they behave like the governors.
Health / Re: Governor Fubara Launches Emergency Medical Service And Ambulance System by bixton(m): 9:49am On Jul 12
tonye33:
Today, the Rivers State Government has lunched what I consider one of the most important and laudable interventions of government. If effectively managed, I will consider it one of the best achievements of this government because it is one that involves LIFE.

Today, the Rivers State Ministry of Health has officially launched the Emergency Medical Service and Ambulance System in Rivers State that will keep a 24-hour operation and immediate response system.

With this, a person suffering cardiac arrest or bleeding profusely can stand a chance of survival as there is now a standby system to take your call.

Today, the Emergency Call Centre has been officially launched with the emergency number as 112.

As of this moment, there is now a fleet of dedicated ambulance vehicles, a dedicated number of health workers for the emergency response system, an operational base, and an Emergency Call Centre.

It’s also worthy of note that the ambulance system is free and that there is free medical service for the first 24 hours.

This is how we develop as a nation.

This is how we secure the life and well-being of the citizenry.

May Governor Sim Fubara succeed🙏

Sim Fubara is in charge 💪 😊

Nice one.
I remember during the Gov. CRA administration, there was an Emergency Call Centre somewhere in Old GRA Forces Avenue and they are in operation 24/7. There's a number to call on whatsoever issue and it will be treated ASAP. They are also linked to the security agencies for faster reach out. I just hope such is still in existence and also works hand in with this emergency medical services.
Kudos to the Gov. SIM.

Last last, the State Government will still find a way to collect the allocations sent to the LG back, since the elected LG officers are state governor's puppets. Just like giving money to a toddler and expect the mother not to collect it from him.

This is likely possible but it will not last long.
You do know even successors of predecessors of governors go against agreements. Even if the governors using the council members to impeach the chairman, still it will not last long. There will be a time when majority will stand their ground. Remember LG chairman are not on pension like governors, so there will be a resistance.

I think it's State Electoral Commissions

The constitution has been amended and States Electoral Commissions are no longer vested with the powers of conducting LG elections.

How?

The first huddle of not conducting LG elections is crossed, because, it simply means no allocation for such LGAs in such State.

The next huddle will be on how citizens will ensure the Governors don't handpick these Local Government Chairmen...

Hopefully, new law will be passed for INEC to conduct or supervise the LG elections.

As for these new developments..it's a good one.

I think the NA have amended the constitution scrapping off States' electoral bodies and them no longer vested with powers of conducting the LG election but now rather the INEC. The NA have also submitted copies of same to all the SHA to amend theirs.

Implementation will be the problem

The FG won't need to force any SG to abide by the law and judgement from the SC.
As long as there is no duly elected LG council chairmen and councilors then LG will not get their allocation from the federation account.
The main judgment has now empowered the FG to hold back the LG funds where there is no duly elected council members.

If I ask you to cite the case where this methodology was itemised now you'll say another thing. As an educated person, I believe you have written a thesis before. When making a claim in a writing, you either back up your claim with primary data which you analysed yourself or quote relevant sources to back up your claim. You just don't write what you feel like then wait for someone else to come along and confirm it for you. That said, there are already decided cases on defection the latest being the Cross River case in 2022 and in none of them was your methodology used to decide defection. The judges never asked for party register or membership card. However, it is clear that in those cases, it was the party that took the members to court. But even then, the party never tendered party register or letter of defection. So let us go to how the constitution describes the process of defection.
Read below. You can see that the Speaker is to declare a seat vacant once satisfactory evidence has been shown that a member defected. Note that the SC has said the word "shall" is used in the constitution, it means the process mentioned is to be automatic. It does not need judicial stamp or any other permit for such actions to be effected.
The constitution did not prescribe all these your party register or card or whatever, it says "evidence satisfactory". Look at Justice Taiwo's Cross River judgement below. He even cited photographs they took with the party officials of APC even with the intent of the defectors to deceive the court.

If we follow you statement, then under what law was Edison made the Speaker to have declared their seats vacant?

Do you know how a Speaker of a House is elected/appointed?
Also, what was/is the quorum of the House given the number of members if we are to consider that their seatings, rulings and declarations ate legal and have constitutional backing?

A team of cluelessness. 190 days is 6 months and we are in the 7 month of a 12 calendar year.
By our harvest season certain crops are expected to be on produce from August and onwards meaning with such harvest coming forth its expected that food prices should reduce. But if the reverse is the case giving the Minister's comment then it means the festive season will not be a favourable one.

I don't really understand this order?
Which COURT is barring a Judge from handling a matter?
Who is the STAFF of that court or within the judiciary with the powers to bar a judge from taking up a matter?
Is the judge under disciplinary action?

Which money? The year has not ended, I think there is a provision in the constitution that allows an elected individual to spend without budget for 6 months, that time has elapsed and that is what they are acting on

There is so no such law of spending public funds without budget.
What is being done is supplementary budget.

That was what PBAT did upon assumption of office and that's what everyone does.

The FG gives one man a surveillance contrac meant for the Nigerian Navy worth billions of dollars monthly. If you tell this same government to increase the salary of the military they will not agree.
Anyways the essence of my post is that our ND former militants are part of problems ravaging the region.
They prefer the short duration business this surveillance contracts bring rather than agitating for investors and even the FG and SG to build refineries in the region and pay good wages which is a long term business.

ChannelsTV's Sunday Interview with Senate Spokesperson, Yemi Adaramodu.

Adaramodu, a former House of Reps member represents Ekiti South Senatorial District

Anchor: How much does an average Senator go home with, in a month. It's a direct question so give a direct answer.

Senate Spokesperson: Yes, it's a direct question and I will give you a direct answer. The direct answer I will give you is that if I tell you it's ten naira, you will not believe it. You are a journalist, there is Freedom of Information Act, go and use it and find out and show the evidence openly to Nigerians so that no Senator or House of Reps person will come here and deny it.

That is the best way to get it.

Anchor: It's not as if we do not have a number but you are the one earning it. It's not a combat, it's just a simple question. Your money is public money, just give us a figure. How much do you earn?

Senate Spokesperson: He who asserts must prove. My brother, my brother when something becomes controversial, the third party which you are, you have to establish the truth. Please use that Act, get to it and just present it to Nigerians, and not spurious allegations.

Anchor: I don't want to belabour the issue, we don't know that's why I am asking you. You are the Spokesperson of the Senate so it's within your rights to help us know the things we don't know.

Senate Spokesperson: You cannot bring an offender to the Court and start asking that offender to provide you with the evidence. So you have brought the offender which is the National Assembly and you now want him to provide you with evidence. How is that possible? The evidence he is going to provide is the evidence that will support his own story.

I don't blame him. Even Shehu Sani can't answer this question. You'll hardly see anyone respond to this question and till that person comes there's no saint amongst those who were once or still members of the National Assembly.
