Hi Bizfirst,

I have looked at your profile but cannot see any of your writeup (novel ..not nairaland post)

I am afraid the selection criteria is strictly based on those that have actually published their own novel or short story....not a nairaland comment or nairaland topic...or another website. This is to help us choose the best style to match with what we are looking for as this will be a long term working/writing relationship with the few writers we choose.

I apologise for any disappointments.

Thanks

Kind regards

Pinky

Hi Pinky,

In the mail I sent, I shared both my portfolio and work-sample. It seems you missed that.

If the criteria of fiction and NairaLand entries is absolute however, I must wish you the very best with the selection process.

Romance / 10 Traits That Will Make ANY Man Propose ASAP by bizfirst: 2:37pm On Jun 06, 2016
To say that men are reluctant to marry these days is an understatement...they appear to PASSIONATELY hate marriage smiley

However, investigations have revealed that men today are very reluctant to propose because the women they are dating do not possess the qualities of a wife.

These qualities, you must understand, are not in the region of a degree or the ability to give head grin

If you're interested, here we go:

1. A kind and decent heart
2. A unique ability to encourage your man
3. The ability to cook
4. A witty, playful and humorous personality
5. Intelligent submission
6. Brilliance to discern/quick learning
7. An appreciative heart
8. A non-nagging spirit
9. A modest dress sense
10. Humility in spending

+ bonus point which (together with the details/explanation of this point) can be read here: http://notopoverty.info/things-that-will-make-a-man-desire-to-make-you-his-wife/
Webmasters / Re: 'bandwidth Limit Exceeded' When Trying To Access My Website by bizfirst: 6:01am On Jun 01, 2016
Chiscomax:
Good evening,

Please, whenever i try accessing my website i get "bandwidth Limit exceeded". How do i go about solving this issue?

A web designer from nairaland designed the website for me December last year. I have the admin login details of the website, i even deleted some posts through the wordpress app but still yet it did not help out.

I will be grateful if anyone can help me with a solution to this problem

Chiscomax,

Contrary to most of the opinions expressed here, I sincerely believe the challenge with your site is not the host - it's the manner your allotted resources is eaten up by the tools you use.

To go to the root of this, kindly deactivate and delete W3 Total Cache immediately and replace it with WP Super Cache...the former is known to eat up resources like mad!

Kindly also check out the back up plugin you are using and the frequency it is set up to. UpdraftPlus is a headache in this respect and I'll instead suggest BackUpWordpress by Human Made Limited.

Aside these suggestions, kindly use P3 plugin (https://wordpress.org/plugins/p3-profiler/) to spot and change plugins that are eating up too much resources.

After that, install Cloudflare and report back...your problem, I am 99.9% sure, would be solved.

In addition to the above, getting socurity related plugins such as Wordfence and configuring them properly can also be a life saver.

Aside this, avoiding the act of logging in from public computers can also help - especially if https isn't deployed and the risk of key logging is high.

SimplePayMain:
Thank you all for your comments.
At SimplePay, we take security very seriously. We are disturbed by these issues we find on sites like Nairaland. We keep all user data confidential and strive to make our users safer. Second, we just got funding, management expertise, and technology implementation from a Switzerland-based investing company. We are also about to close another round of funding from a Major Nigerian Bank. We count on the support of our users and merchanges to help us make payment hassles a thing of the past.

We do strive to make things better, and hopefully make Nigeria greater.

We are a proudly Nigerian company and we recommend Nigerian companies to every Nigerian.

SimplePay was never hacked, and we just migrated to a more robust server and Lagos HQ. Presently, we are putting things in place to make usability better as we are upgrading our plugins, API's, Mobile Apps and customisation of solutions for merchants.

After our migration, we will come out better and with great features, we believe you will love.

Regards,

SimplePay Limited

I sincerely believe you are being seriously economical with the truth...while I did not visit your site during the time in question, I have a question for you:

1. All companies handling payment processing (yours inclusive) always alert it's client base about an upcoming upgrade or expected downtime...in the past, I have received same from your company...why did you not sent out any notification this time around?

I sincerely believe Nigerian companies like yours need to apologize and take responsibility when things go awry...contrary to expectation, our trust won't wane - instead, it will grow stronger - especially if you show us the move you took to remedy and prevent further occurrence.

If not, people like me will continue to avoid local service providers like you!

Today i choose to Give 50% of my secrete on how i started getting 4K+ Daily visitors daily without paying a Dime.
I been Blogging for over 3 Years i hardly got 1000 views a day most time is 150 sometimes 200. Then joined a Whatsapp Group called Bloggers Lab. Here i met Great Bloggers friendly and Unfriendly, They became my family. When they tell me they get a least 5k i was thinking its a lie.
With time my blog mentors Wizytechs and Mokoshalb Global Pimpzz always encouraged me i kept trying though nothing was coming fort initially. So i decided to add effort to the little this Great Bloggers helped me with follow few steps i followed bellow
I can give your Further on request i reserve the Bigger secrete to serious Minded Guys

1. Try and get a good Topic or issue you want to blog about: I was farming on a rock for two years thats why i never succeeded so i had to move from blogging on opportunities to Tech (Pls not everybody can go to tech ohh i had special gift here and passion)

2. Get a good template which is Optimized both for PC and Mobile View you can always check how your blog rank on PC and Mobile using >> Google site Analyser. If your reach above 60% fine though this applies only to new comers

3. Add site Description and Title properly ensure it carries key words related to what you blogging on.

4. Get ready to start posting Like Mad: I tell you no magic can bring you traffic organic traffic from google if you don't have content.

5. Copy Copy is a general Blogging Term, Even NairaLand Copy LindaIkeji Coppy but what distinguish this people is that DO IT WISELY dont just pack peoples content straight to HTML PAGE you will mess yourself up. Read post and write your own. And Since you Blogging on what you have Passion this should be enough for you to write your own content. Use that passion you have to write stuffs that are good STAND OUT BE INNOVATIVE

6. Submit URL to Search Engines: This is the Last Secrete i will reveal this number six is like the Magic here just Google Submit my site to search engines Spend as much time as you can submitting

Finally Submit your Site Sitemap to Google Binng and the rest

Use this Magic Sitemap URL For Both and Wordpress though i have not tried for other Platforms.

http://www.applygist.com/2016/01/bloggers-best-way-to-index-all-your.html

The url will lead you to where i wrote a full guide to get indexed in less than 2 to 5 hours on Bing while Google may take 12 hours to index your entire blog and upto index subsequent post

The bolded is sooo true...feed the bots and they'll favor you - it's as simple as that. However, I must warn you that the Blogger Dash stats aren't reliable since they also factor hits from bots...to be certain that you're actually hitting that number, install and make use of an Analytics solution such as the variant Google offers.

Webmasters / How To Protect Yourself From Scams Online by bizfirst: 5:14am On May 20, 2016
The online world is a beautiful place - so beautiful that anything is possible.

However, there are a ton of persons who are desperate to scam users of the internet at the slightest chance.

While the bad boy cannot be stopped completely, they can be avoided to a large extent - if some measures are put in place:

1. Always check the man/woman/company behind the offer

Experience has shown that men and companies are more sensible when they have something to lose...in this wise, always take a look at the entity behind any offer and ascertain what it/they have to lose. If they don't have anything to lose, proceed at your own risk!

2. If an offer is too good to be true, then, it is!

If you're offered an eBook that promises to teach you the basics of blogging and ensure that you make 10k USD in a month blogging, then, that offer is a scam; same with an offer that promises you a brand new Benz for 950k NGN. Or a brand new HP laptop for only $56.

Often, your guts are right...trust them!

3. Be careful when haste is introduced...

Genuine businessmen/women know that the decision making process can be a long and tiring one...accordingly, they are not overly hasty with their clients and would be customer...

The scammer on the other hand, wants you to pay - and pay immediately. Delaying that payment (to watch reactions) may thus be a lifesaver and the smartest thing to do.

4. Be careful when there are unverifiable testimonials

This is common today - as common as pure water!

Why would any sane person publish a testimonial without the contact details of the person who has offered the testimony? Accordingly, such testimonies that end with: 'Nancy, Abuja' or 'Esther, Benin City' should be treated with caution.

On the other hand, a testimony that reads: 'Seun, Nairaland.com' is much more authentic and veritable.

Be wise. Avoid scammers!

SEO is a subject that is very broad...it is impossible to 'teach' you even the bare basics here.

My advice is simple:

1. Get a dedicated book on the subject and read up - then, you can ask questions where you don't understand. I have a such a book available on Amazon Kindle: 'SEO 101'. Kindly find the link here: https://www.amazon.com/SEO-101-Optimization-WordPress-Beginners-ebook/dp/B018A9WDCK.

2. Hop right to SEO dedicated blogs like SearchEngine Land, Backlinko etc, subscribe to their newsletters and read up all that you can.

I wish you the very best.

I'm an intensely private person who cherishes privacy more than anything is this crazy world of ours. In line with my principles and philosophy thus, I'll keep this brief - and to the point.

Here:

1. Marriage goes well beyond looks, status and vain dreams...what matters and qualifies as substance is love, understanding and supreme insight.

If you are thus thinking of marrying anyone because of the former reasons, you will soon approach the courts for divorce - or remain unhappy - forever.

2. Celebs all around the world (especially Nigeria) live immensely fake lives! Accordingly, they should not be any serious person's role model...unless the person is interested in towing in their (vain) footsteps.

3. Marital problems are best settled privately, between the couple...while wash your dirty undies in front of everyone?

4. Living well within your means remains classical. If you're spending more than you earn (to please/impress people who don't matter), you'll soon run flat broke - and lose all you hold dear.

5. If you're updating more than 5% of your life on social media, you're dead meat already!

6. Marriage is between a man and his wife...while in-laws remain a healthy part of the picture, they should be put in check right the moment when things become unhealthy - or, a collapse (from their direct or indirect actions) is imminent.

7. A man should pay the bills AT ALL TIMES! Granted, a woman MAY help...however, that 'help' should not lure any right thinking fellow to sleep, even if he is dead broke or just lost a job!

8. Drugs never did anyone any good...instead, they succeed in making full grown people look (and behave) like 3 year olds! Accordingly, avoiding them altogether may be the brightest thing you'll ever accomplish in your life!

9. Age and maturity are two different things...NEVER CONFUSE THEM!

10. Love died with Christ more than 2000 years ago...

However, there is still love out there (I believe, it also resurrected)...and there are certainly (still) some decent men and women. However, they are as rare as snow in Nigeria...if you however get one, ADORE & WORSHIP them!

And count yourself supremely lucky.

Them that have ears should hear!

Romance / You're A Woman...so Damn What?! by bizfirst: 8:28am On Apr 23, 2016
Yesterday was one of the few days I decided to shut down my computer and take a drive round town, see old friends and more importantly, get some fresh air.

However, a few hours into my 'escape', I ran out of cash and had to take an emergency dive to the nearest ATM machine. As I drove out of the premises, a saw a feminine figure (from my rear view) frantically waving at me to stop.

...as it's customary of me, I ignored her.

However, as I clutched, eased unto another gear and made way to jam on the gas pedal, all the people around (especially men) started waving (frantically) and asking me to stop...

...I imagined it was an emergency and I had no option than to ease unto the first gear, brake and look around...then I saw her.
The cause of the confusion/commotion was a young woman in her early 20's who had an hour-glass figure and accentuated it further with super scanty clothing. I remembered that she was also the one who I had seen wave seconds earlier.

She walked up majestically and with the assurance only the Queen of England is permitted to possess, looked straight at me and said:
"Hello Sir, I'm going to North-Bank...could we kindly ride together?"

Before I could utter a word, she made for the door handle to hop in! Fortunately, it was locked centrally from the inside...yet, her demeanor, looks and general body language suggested I'll come down and open the door directly for her!

To worsen things up, all the onlookers, especially the men, were already green with envy - assuming I was the luckiest guy in the world for such a gorgeous 'babe' to seek to ride with me...their looks and murmurs said it all!

Then, without a word, I revved up my engine and eased unto the highway!

Looking from the rear view, the young lady stood transfixed at the stop she stood when I zoomed off...clearly, no man had dared turned her off before!

...I must thus either be a god or from Mars!

Little did she realize that:

1. I had a wife 10 times better than what she could ever be.
2. I never put myself anywhere/in any circumstance that would compromise my vows to my wife.
3. I live by the mantra (where women are concerned): 'You're a woman...so damn what?!'

As always, it me,
The Man Who Puts Business FIRST.

P.S.

1. I help women...but they MUST approach me from the angle of a HUMAN BEING who is in need of help...not a WOMAN/LADY/BABE with a hot, sexy body that I must bow to because I'm a man!

2. If all men adopt this stand, the world will be a better place...and a step closer to the much elusive 'gender equality'.

Business / 13 Businesses You Can Start With Little Or No Capital Today by bizfirst: 4:25am On Feb 03, 2016
The economy is presently hard in Nigeria...so hard that even the stones are jealous smiley And, it does not take genius to either see it so or agree with me.

However, it does take a little creative thinking to see that with or without the government, a life can still be meaningful within Naija's borders.

If you want that life to be yours, kindly follow me a bit, let's explore...your options are:

1. Independent sales/manufacturers rep:

You'll be pleasantly surprised: there are many companies that either import or manufacture products that no one has noticed yet! An example would be a 'remote' company somewhere in Lagos manufacturing phone chargers powered by ordinary dry cell batteries.

Now, as a folk who is 'cashless', simply approach such a company and offer to help spread the word. Many will jump at the offer if you can prove that you will deliver and won't run away. The great part? The goods are almost, always given to you without any upfront/down/part payment.

Now, what could be better than that?

2. Independent driver/deliveryman or woman:

It you are without a job (but have access to a car), you should turn the car from a mere wasteful 'liability' to an income churning 'asset'.

How?

It's quite simple: become an independent driver or delivery man/woman.

Those kids in your estate/down the street could be dropped off at school/picked back for as much as 30k a month/per child.

Or, if you would rather not bother with children, offer to be an independent delivery person for a startup. It would please you to know that many of such startups are usually in dire need of cash and would appreciate - and handsomely pay for such a service (especially as it will save them serious costs and responsibility).

3. Blogging:

Blogging pays, big time - no sane Nigerian can doubt this.

If you need further details, ask Linda Ikeji smiley

4. Cell phone accessory retail:

Everyone in Nigeria uses a cell phone. No, not everyone...but most people do, right?

Now, do you know that accessories for such phones are still a luxury in many parts of Nigeria? If you live in Lagos, where they are cheap and in abundance, why not 'export' them to other dealers around the country and make some profit? If you live outside Lagos, why not tap into the glory Lagos offers and make serious money online in the process?

It's that easy...especially when you understand that a desktop charger that retails for less than N100 in Lagos sells for between N300 and N500 elsewhere!

5. Tutoring:

Your brain is good for a purpose! Use it and make money!!

If you are good with math, why not offer to tutor kids in the neighborhood for a small fee?

What of the Literature or history or Physics whiz?

Monetize your genius man...it is cheap. Why allow your genius to waste?!

6. Selling online:

The future of Nigeria rests online...if you have not seen it so, it's time to wear those special contact lens smiley

You can start selling on Jumia or Konga with as little as 10k and a minimal knowledge of mini importation. If you are ambitious, you can extend your ambition to Amazon and that is where you'll truly understand that money can be made online even with VERY little funds.

7. Bulk SMS:

Bulk SMS is still very profitable and a silent income generator for those that know it's power...plus, it requires very minimal capital. If you are well connected, there is nothing that will stop you from netting over 20k monthly (at least).

Now, isn't that better than begging or blaming the government?!

8. Selling cars:

Before you shout, kindly understand that a car mustn't be yours before you can sell it.

All you need to do here is to be smarter than the seller, advertise his/her car for him/her online and set a higher price. Once the car is sold via your efforts, you pocket a clean profit - sometimes well over 100k per deal!

If you doubt this, head over to the auto section to confirm.

However, you must have a great knowledge of cars/knack for research or you'll be messing up big time. If you still think there's something as V4, then, you may still need to learn some basics before proceeding.

9. Fixing computers:

Everyone who can afford a computer today - and knows the importance, has one. It is that important.

Why not learn to fix damaged/corrupted ones and make money in the process? Remember, you can learn online. On your own. In your bedroom!

10. Becoming an online prof.:

If you are a shy genius, this one is for you.

Platforms like AcademicExperts, EssayWriters, Udemy etc all require your genius to satisfy their clients be it tackling academic challenges or teaching them a valuable skill via video.

Kindly note that is a super cool way of making money without any investment and it can make you richer than your wildest imaginations!

11. Blog/website design:

As the demands for blogging rises, so does the services of those who can set up blogs...

Why not master any of the CMS out there or theme frameworks and become an expert, helping people online round the world for a fee?

12. Social media marketing/selling:

If you have an idea...or at good at something, don't spill your genius on social media for comments and likes alone...create a group, make it premium and watch as your poverty vanishes away!

Why make your ideas so cheap and easily accessible to those who may even have the guts to argue or disbelieve you?!

13. Becoming an author via Amazon Kindle:

Amazon Kindle pays and pays big.

The good thing about this platform is that it pays passively whether you work or not!

If you are a great writer, this is the place to write - not NL literature section!

**************

Any further excuse why you would complain of lack of money or lack of a job again?!

Family / How To Select An Ideal Wife by bizfirst: 3:15am On Jan 08, 2016
This is one of the most debated topics of all time.

However, an answer hardly seem to come true - that is an answer that will serve all eligible bachelors.

Below is my list - figured out after having gone through the process myself. If you are a bachelor, this should help. Seriously.

1. Outline the most important attributes your ideal wife must have; this will help you from being attracted to anything in skirt or any figure with breasts.

2. In considering the above point, kindly ignore what she can easily change or you can make her change without much effort; you will certainly make your task easier this way and enhance the whole process - accelerating things in the process!

3. While physical attributes are very important, they should not be the focus of your wife selection mission…beauty is pleasing to the eye – no doubt. But, kindly remember that it will fade with time and leave you the bare basics that make up your wife. Aside this, she may have an accident or challenge that may stripe her of the beauty you may have cherished so much….

4. Look at her mother or sisters (especially older sisters)…no matter how different your prospective wife wants to be, both her sisters and her mother will still wind up influencing her…if these persons are hopeless, she is 90% likely to be hopeless too!

5. Look at her interests and how she reacts to yours – this is the ultimate compatibility when it comes to marriage…a woman that has interests that are far away from yours will hardly make a good wife or even consider herself your wife (in the long term), especially if she has no interest in yours! However, there is an exception here if she shows a genuine interest in your own interests, life and passion, there is a chance that she will make an excellent wife – go for her.

6. Finally, look for a woman who is sufficiently motivated to achieve on her own but is not really dependent on a man to make her dreams come true…with such a woman, you are guaranteed to have a wife that you would be proud of – and still not lose your wallet in the process!

This is the contracted form of this resource. If you are interested in the entire article (very detailed at 3k plus words), kindly proceed here: http://notopoverty.info/choose-a-good-wife-and-choosing-the-right-woman/

Webmasters / Re: How Long A Backlink Takes To Activate And Appear In Alexa Ranking? by bizfirst: 2:09pm On Nov 15, 2015
Hi HarshS,

Alexa updates it's data at set times no outsider is privy to...however, I notice that my backlinks reflect after about 3 weeks...however, there are some batches that took up to 2 months to appear.

From the set pattern I have noticed in my experience, a day is set aside for updates by Alexa and on this day, all the pending links show up, even if they are only a day old smiley

However, may I suggest another (more reliable) backlink checking tool for you? Try: https://moz.com/researchtools/ose/

Aromance,

Your site is already indexed on Google: "site:arebsfashion.com" (without the quotes) just confirmed it...accordingly, there would be no need to submit it to search engines again (at least for now).

However, after every update, you may wish to use the "fetch as Google tool" right under GWT for faster indexing and discovery, organically.

I wish you the very best. And, BTW, your site is visually appealing.

You have excellent points, OP.

However, it would be smart to add that you should possess the ability and stamina to write in your chosen niche in the long run - or you would soon exhaust yourself.

Online, consistency is key...and you can only be consistent if you can stick to a subject matter for a long stretch of time without wavering.
