Webmasters / Re: Clients Now Playing The Fraud. Pls Read And Help Me. by bizfirst: 5:17pm On Jul 23, 2015
databoy247:
I and my team have been working super hard to create lasting impression while making clients happy has been our number one priority. Alot of people have been defrauded online by scrupulous fellows claiming to be able to deliver a service or sell a product. This has obviously stamped a boldly spelled caution on the minds of potential clients and customers. I feel for them.

So, we came up with a model of payment on delivery. This means i spend my money to setup your website for you (and other services), then you pay when it is ready and you can see it live. I came up with this because clients are scared to make payments because of the fear of being defrauded. Some people told me i am taking risks....but what is business without risk?

To a large extent, i am credible here on nairaland and it takes hard work and legit business to attain such credibility. But just to make some doubting Thomases happy, i say "let me build the website at my own expenses without collecting a dime and when am done you pay up".

Now, the issue is that these clients who are afraid of being defrauded have successfully turned the table around and now defraud us legit businessmen. The average domain name costs close to N3,000 (with the spike in exchange rates) not including web hosting which attracts its own fees.

I spend my own money and push my team hard to get these websites up and ready, but after its ready, the so-called clients start generating a thousand excuses why they cant pay up. From am busy, to i don't have chance to go over to the bank, until they eventually stop picking your calls.

After trying for days and weeks to get paid (unfruitful), the next option is to pull down the website. But even if that is done, you still lose money (the initial cost incurred setting it up). The questions are;

Why order for a website when you know you don't have the money to pay?

Why do you keep making excuses not to pay up when you know the developer is running a business? For heaven's sake i have people that work with me whom i must pay at the end of the month. I have an office that must be operational everyday. Real businessmen should know what it costs running an office on a daily basis.

No matter how hard you try to please Nigerians, they always look for a way to disappoint you. They enjoy doing that. This wont deter me from working for the serious clients, but a stricter approach is needed.

My payment on deliver model is good for serious people who want to do serious business BUT for those that keep wasting my time, resources and money, how do i detect them? What measures do i employ to ensure i get paid when i deliver a work?

My brain is about to explode from thoughts. So, if you have any ideas, am all ears. Because am truly fed up. angry

DataBoy,

You are a businessman, not a charity organization...FORGET THE PAY ON DELIVERY PATTERN OF DOING CHARITY WORK!

Focus on making the few clients who trust you - and can (and are willing) to pay off-front. Initially, it's going to be tough but as the days go by, more and more Nigerians will flock to you. Don't let the average Nigerian psyche ruin you!

Kindly leave pay on delivery for Jumia and Konga...somehow, they are great at handling the losses arising therefrom...you clearly are not!

Akaahan Terungwa, Founder of www.notopoverty.com here.

For a limited time, I have decided to explore the world of Fiverr for myself - and maybe, crack out an awesome product from the experience afterwards. Accordingly, I just created a gig where I'm offering to write a 1,000 word article for my clients within 24 hours for only $5 (N1,000)!

Please Note:

1. I am not a fan of news/entertainment niches. If that is where you need help, I am not the best fit.
2. You may order for my services via Fiverr directly (https://www.fiverr.com/s2/261cbe04cd) or contact me directly on my site (www.notopoverty.com/contact-me) for order request and payment info.
3. If you are ordering directly, please, note that you would have to prepay.
4. For $5 per 1,000 word article, photos are not included. However, you may add another $5(extra) for 2 royalty free images.
5. I am certain that you will like my writing... (you can check my primary site, www.notopoverty.com for an idea of what to expect). However, if you are not satisfied on article submission, I would be glad to offer a revision for free.

Webmasters / Re: Urgent: I Need Help With My Blog's Comment Section!!! by bizfirst: 5:56pm On Jul 13, 2015

Hello everyone
I hope you are all doing great. I started a blog and I've been getting all sorts of crazy comments that have absolutely nothing to do with my articles. One of the comments suggested that they might be some kind of mix up with some other blogs but my programming knowledge is limited.

Here's the link: http://www.convoswithcassandra.com/

Thank you in advnce for your assistance.

SPAM Bots are having a swell time on your blog, Ojiugomma. Kindly install an impressive anti comment spam plugin like AKISMET and be sure to manually moderate comments.

Further, you may limit comments on posts older than 6 months. If all these fail, then install some simple CAPTCHA plugin or use Google's own ReCAPTCHA.

As for the off point spammy comments, the earlier you trash them, the better. Your credibility and ranking is going to be seriously harmed if you keep such meaningless 'comments' hanging in their thousands on each post of yours.

All the best!

Thanks, I have already gotten the information from their support page.

It's advisable to wait till after the scheduled date, then I can use the expedited option, at no extra charge.

I just need to indicate that I did not get my card.

I guess the replacement fees are for those who have already activated their card and its either lost/stolen.

3 years ago you said, how many years does a card last?

The best course, my dear Kingsley, is to ask directly. That way, you can sure be certain.

bizfirst:

Obviously, many of the Payoneer policies have changed since I last applied for one. During my last request (about 3 years ago), such a replacement was free - as I benefited from many myself. However, in the wake of current changes, your best bet is to contact Payoneer directly.

A card expires in 3 years on the dot. However, my current card still has some few (healthy) months to go cheesy

Okay thanks for clearing that one up.

Secondly, my card is scheduled to arrive between 20 - 27 July, although i applied for the payoneer account through upwork

In the event my card does not arrive, if I should apply for a new one with DHL option, would I be charged for replacement as well, +$12.95 or just the expedited shipping fee.

Well am currently considering this option though. The last Fedex guy that brought parcel to my office had to call me.
I am just wondering what the Nipost guy would say

Luckily I got some small Cash in there.

Why do you say $60, Payoneer says $50 presently, or is there something am missing here?

No, you aren't missing anything (or at best, what you are missing can easily be explained) wink

The time I ordered for my card, about 3 years back, the cost for expedited shipping to international destinations was $60. However, after reading your comment, I hoped over to the official site and can clearly see that its now only $50 - a downward review.
