watch your tithes budget. Carefully
.
You are right. I believe tithe budgets, especially for non-salary workers, is a good metric for checking economic trend. A lower tithe budget depicts lower revenue which in turn suggests gloomy economic situation for the tither.

I think Pastors and Church accountants should be mandated by Ministry of Finance to produce yearly tithe charts (flow charts) of their respective churches. grin

Family / How To Live In An Unstable Economy by bizngr(f): 3:44pm On Mar 12, 2015
The prevailing uncertain economic situation has left many Nigerians feeling unstable. A large majority feel their lifestyle has been affected by the current economic conditions. Taking steps to better your overall financial well-being is more important than ever.

The economic condition of a country’s citizenry is, to a great extent, dependent on the national economy. Also, the way you manage your personal finances has an impact on the overall financial well-being of the country. What are you doing to ensure your family enjoys a strong and stable financial future in the face of an unstable economy?

Consider the following steps to help weather your financial storm in an unstable economy as such as we have here in Nigeria:

- Be familiar with your financial situation. Write down all sources of income. Next, subtract all of your monthly living expenses: things such as rent, utilities, food, transport, etc.; followed by debt payments. When times are tough, it’s critical to pay priorities first.

- Pay down existing debt. High interest debts take money that could be going to a better use. Devote any extra money to freeing yourself from the bondage of debt. This is a good time to consider a part-time or weekend job with all of that extra income dedicated to settling the debts.
- Don’t take on any new debt. Hard times won’t last forever. Unless you have home or vehicle repairs that can’t wait, delay any large expenditure until you’re on more stable ground. Be willing to forego the luxuries for a while.

- Start or add to an emergency fund. Everyone should have a savings account for the inevitable emergency. Without it, you’re one trip to the emergency room, one flat tire, or one leaky roof away from financial distress. Understand that it’s not “if” the emergency is going to come along, but “when.” Prepare by putting aside 10 percent of each salary. That’s a small amount of money that you’ll never miss, but certainly will be glad you have it when you need it.

Finally, learn to pay attention to national economic stability. Many studies are carried out in order to gather information on consumer spending and debt levels, as well as how debt is being handled to help predict economic stability and trends for the future.

Business / How To Give An Effective Business Presentation by bizngr(f): 4:29pm On Feb 26, 2015
Presentations are important in the business community for communicating information in a clear and interesting way. This article will show you how to plan and give a successful and professional business presentation.

Focus

As you prepare, focus on your main points, and illustrate each one with a visual aid, which can be anything from PowerPoint slides to a flip chart to sample products. Studies show that people's minds begin to wander after 10 minutes of passive listening.

Clean Up Your Visuals

Go for a minimalist look in your visuals; educational psychologists have found that the fewer words and pictures you have on a visual, the more your audience will remember. Use the colour red to highlight important points; psychologists say it's the colour most quickly noticed and easily remembered.

Use Hand-outs

Prepare hand-outs that list all your main points. This will make it easier for the audience to follow along, and people will pay better attention if they don't feel pressure to take notes.

Practice

Practice your speech as much as you can – in the mirror, with a friend or co-worker, or in front of a video camera.

Check Your Surroundings

Before your business presentation, familiarize yourself with the room you'll be using. Make sure you have all the equipment you need, that it works properly, and that you know how to use it.

Visualize Success

Imagine your presentation going well. Research shows that visualizing success can help you make it happen. Do some tongue twisters before you take the stage; it's a favourite trick of speech-givers to loosen up.

Position Yourself Correctly

Stand to the left of the screen or your flip chart from the viewpoint of the audience, making it easier for them to see the material. Take a step toward the audience when you want to emphasize something; it unconsciously signals them to pay special attention.

Have A Strong Close

Save your most memorable lines for your close, because that is what your audience will remember most when the presentation is over.

Jobs/Vacancies / 10 Questions To Ask Yourself Before You Fire An Employee by bizngr(f): 4:20pm On Feb 26, 2015
The fact that an employee isn't performing according to your expectations may not be his problem, but yours. Every time you are tempted to let someone go, use it as an opportunity to look in the mirror and learn. Somehow you either hired or promoted someone who failed to perform up to expectations. You should ask yourself: how did this happen and how can I keep it from happening again?

Here are some questions an employer should ask before letting an employee go.

1. Does the employee know what he's supposed to be doing?
This is the first question to ask when an employee is not performing up to expectations. Leaders often think they have been clear in setting performance expectations when, in fact, they have not. Telling someone what to do is not enough. The only way you can be sure an employee knows what you expect is when they clearly state in their own words what your performance expectations for them are, and clearly state how they will be measured. Often this is where the problem lies, so make sure to check this box off before you do anything else.

2. Does this person have the skills and tools to do the job?
Maybe your employee knows what is expected, but lack the skills to do the job. In that case, make sure you provide the right tools and training (soft skills or technical) to help him get the job done. If you don’t have the time or budget to provide such training, make sure you do a thorough job up front to match a person’s skills and abilities to the demands of the job. Asking a person to perform a job where they lack the necessary tools is poor leadership.

3. Is this a motivation problem, and can I fix it?
Providing training to help an employee improve is doable, but when an employee has completely "checked out", there may be nothing left to fix. Even the best training can’t repair an unmotivated, disengaged employee. So before cutting them loose, determine if this is a fixable situation.

4. Is there a problem with the hiring process?
Sometimes we blame the person when we should be looking at the process. You rather should take a closer look at your hiring practices, rethink candidates based on their talents and skills rather than their job titles, consider past accomplishments regardless of current circumstances and make improvements in selection methodologies to find the best candidates.

5. How good is my on-boarding process?
When you bring people into the organization, do you orient them to the culture and the way things are done, or expect them to figure it out on their own? Do you tell them who they can approach if they have questions, or give them a process to follow when they are not sure what to do? You can save a lot of time and money by giving newer employees the support they need to be successful and productive from day one, as against them wasting time and energy trying to figure out ‘how things work around here.'

6. Are my expectations too high?
Before you hired the person you are now ready to fire, you had an expectation in mind. Was it realistic? Did you hire someone thinking they would be a clone of yourself? Perhaps you set the bar so high that no one could clear it, and now you’re acting out of frustration. You are advised to revisit your initial expectations. Remind yourself that the replacement employee is not going to be you, either. Continue reading here >>> Source
Jobs/Vacancies / 10 Questions To Ask Yourself Before Quitting Your Job For Self-employment by bizngr(f): 11:48am On Feb 26, 2015
The dream of being one's own boss is what leads many people to start businesses, but leaving your bread-and-butter job to fulfil that vision is a move that shouldn't be made hastily.

Here are ten questions you should ask yourself before taking that bold step.

1. Is this going to make me happier?

Before leaving your job for uncharted territory, make sure this is really what you want – not just what you think you want or a way to escape your current job. Too many people suffer silently in their job, but before you go out to be your own boss, you have to believe you're going to be happier. If you are not sure enough that quitting your current job will make you happier, don't do it.

2. Is the timing right?

If your wife is pregnant or you've just taken over the care of an elderly parent, it may not be the right time to leave the security of an established job to pursue the dream. Instead, be honest about your current situation; be realistic about your bills and your commitments; and then make an informed decision. I bet you don’t want to quit few days to when your house rent is due; your Nigerian landlord won’t take any excuse.

3. How will I cover my expenses?

The biggest detriment to starting a business is being under-capitalised. You should have a rainy day fund or savings built up to cover you and the business for a certain period of time, the length of which will be determined by the nature of the business and how quickly you'll be able to pay yourself a salary. Make sure you have the money to pay both your personal and business expenses for that period before venturing out on your own.

4. Do I have the support of family and close friends?

The talents and shortcomings we have the hardest time recognizing are often our own. So before venturing away from a secure situation try asking the people you trust the most how well-suited they think you are to the opportunity. Talking to family and close friends will help you realize if you’re going after something that you really want to do, or just escaping your current situation. Don’t just talk to the dreamers in the group that will tell you to go for it. Talk to the people that will be honest with you and encourage you if you’re on the right path.

5. How much am I willing to change my lifestyle?

Some people are very good at structure. Getting up, going to work for a set number of hours, performing set tasks, and interacting with co-workers works really well for them. Yet starting your own business can be anything but structured and can mean long, hard hours – very often spent alone. There's also a lot of self-motivation involved. You have to be structured, innovative, creative and proactive. The solo nature of it is not for everyone. Continue reading here >>> Source
Business / 9 Ways To Raise Capital For Business by bizngr(f): 4:15pm On Feb 18, 2015
Raising Capital for business may seem to be one of the most difficult tasks in establishing a successful business. But raising capital for business or expansion isn't as difficult as many people think. Even though this is a challenge which may seem difficult to overcome, but there are several ways to overcome this.

Although there are so many sources to get capital for business, the process of accessing some of these funds is complex. In other words, every fund comes with its own advantages and disadvantages.

A research was conducted to unfold the feasible ways to raise capital for business as a result of the above point. At the end of the research, we are able to come up with the following:

Crowd Funding

Crowd funding can be described as the collective effort of individuals who pulls money together to support the ideas initiated by somebody. In other words, your business or project will be funded by the public. To use this method to raise money for your business, you need to do the following:

register at any good crowd funding site and create your profile
present your idea you want them to support
draw out the project plan and let them know the cost
tell a compelling story to convince the investors.
Once you do all the above listed points, provided you have good and acceptable business ideas, any member of the public who is interested will start to donate. To win the heart of more people to donate, share your success story backed up with evidences.

You can reward the people that support and contribute with your product or any other thing.

Equipment and Material Leasing

If your business has to do with manufacturing and you don’t have enough money to buy materials you can consider leasing to meet you business needs. All you need do is to look for supplier that will supply the materials, agree on the time the money will be paid which is always after the sale of the products. The money to be paid back may be higher than what is obtainable when you go to the market with your money.

Angel Investing

Angel investors are the well to do individuals especially entrepreneurs who provide money for a business start-up in exchange for business equity. They either donate once or ongoing support as the business is progressing.

Angel investing is one of the best ways to raise money for a business because most of the investors are successful entrepreneurs who know what it takes to take a business off the ground. So, they are more concerned with the success of the business rather than getting immediate huge profit from their investment.

It is advisable that you do your home work very well before choosing any of the ways to raise money for a business and determine which works for you.

Not an excuse. what if am the original and the user disenfranchises me by using my IP to vote. So it means that if you are the INEC officer you will allow somebody to vote with another person's voter's card or a cloned one grin
These are two different cases but I will still give you a logical explanation.

- Only ONE UNIQUE IP ADDRESS is allowed to vote
- Two users share SAME IP ADDRESS or in your analogy, same anatomical features e.g. finger print, looks etc (certainly one is fake but we can't determine)
- The best way is to employ FIRST COME FIRST SERVE approach grin grin
- At the end, the data/results remains valid in numerical representation. Computers deal with FACTS and not truths. wink

Seriously , I couldn't see an option to vote . all I could see was the result. That's one of the defects of using IP address to monitor multiple voting . it is possible someone else has used mine to vote
Not a defect at all. Simply shows it can't be cheated. Maybe one of these Tecno or Yahoo guys that do 'something' with their IP Address has voted on your behalf. grin
