All Nigerians in Diaspora need to learn to 'Read the room'. If you are in a country like South Africa, that already has deep hostility to foreigners, you need to keep your head down and not draw attention to yourselves. Most Igbo's come home from xmas, they could easily have done this ceremony back home. Please show me a SINGLE Federal govt owned hospital that is well equipped. Not a single teaching hospital, even the National Hospital in Abuja does not stock common snake venom!
We need to stop lying to ourselves. Nigeria does not need any new hospitals from the FG, the existing ones need to properly upgraded and maintained.
BTW there are already MULTIPLE military hospitals all over the country

In theory state and even city police is a good thing. State governors are supposed to be chief security officers of their states, yet they have no control over the police in their states.
However we do all know how prone our rulers are to abuse of the laws, and for that reason there must be federal oversight, similar to the way state universities are subject to oversight of the Nigerian Universities Commission. The enabeling legislation should contain clauses giving the President the power to suspend state commissioners and impose new leadership if there's a clear case of abuse of power

If the oil union is against any govt policy, then you know 100% that policy is a GOOD policy. Many of the state governors in the North are in cahoots with the bandits. They basically need to be kicked out and replaced with the military. I've got no problem with the states in the south and those in the north like Bauchi, Gombe, Kano, that are not impacted by bandits having state police, but places like Sokoto, Zamfara, Niger, Kogi..it's the bandits that will make up the state police. Those states need to be under emergency rule till the next election

What did we expect?
When they paid ransom for the last batch of kidnapped students, it was only a matter of time before they would strike again. If we are REALLY serious about dealing with this menace, then the following MUST happen.

Ribadu should be sacked as a NSA, and replaced with a seasoned military officer, with an intelligence background.

A stare of emergency should be declared in ALL states with recurring terrorist activity. Initial duration 6 months to be extended as required. Military administrators should be appointed.

The FG should pass a law making it illegal to negotiate with, or pay any kind of ransom to kidnappers.

The Armed forces and security agencies should br tasked with clearing all forests. Human rights suspended, and carpet bombing authorised.

They have dealt with any past governor or commissioner like this. Bad roads, poor schools, dirty hospitals...none of those things anger them, but this type of thing gets them all riled up. Low IQ people with the wrong priorities
