What is your skill set? Do you have skills that would get you a good job in Europe or the US?
Are you looking to use the student route? If so do you have money for fees and money to maintain yourself?
Have you decided which country you want to migrate to?

The only advise I can give you is do your research VERY WELL. Japa is not for everybody. Some folks make a good success of it, others are still struggling many years later.

I am from a poor home, never knew about my sickle condition till I got admitted to higher institution. I do things like other people except that I dare enter rain like other children. Till now I am yet to visit hospital because i am scared of knowing about any terminal diseases. But I know one thing for sure, I am as fit as fiddle. Nothing do me.
Great to hear, but please do and try and take simple measures like drinking lots of water and trying to not get too stressed about things. I wish you all the very best!

The way you guys use your imagination and believe in this administration ehnnn i marvel. A government that is struggling to raise money to shore up reserves will raise money for an ambitious project? you guys should be realistic, there is a difference from approved to actually raising money to fund the construction. If you use this imagination to solve business challenges walahi you will go far
The road is going to be tolled. Private sector will run the toll gate, the same private sector will make the funds available. That is how large scale road and bridge projects are now financed.

Coincidentally I had a friend...

Who also had sickle cell and his name was also kunle.

He hardly fell sick and and I was surprised the day I knew he was Ss. Infact I had to ask he to confirm.

He was in Plateau State Polytechnic at the time and last time we communicated he told me he was working at a bank in Abuja.

Another person I met who was a sickle was a jejelola who was my course mate in university and happened to be the school mother of my younger brother in high school.

Although she left at 200l to continue her studies in the USA. She too looked so chubby and strong... And I never saw her fall ill.

She lives in the US now married with kids and works as a general practioner(GP)

The impression I had growing up was that people who had sickle cell were always weak, sluggish and somewhat fragile.

And that they never lived beyond a certain age... Maybe 25.

Meeting these people and seeing some of them from afar like A. Gold changed my orientation. I even heard at a point that Atiku was a sickler... although I really do not know how accurate or truthful this is.

That being said let to-be-couples do proper blood tests to ascertain their compatibility medically so as to stop the birthing of Ss children.

It's really a painful ordeal for those who experience it!

There is a large variation in how sickle cell impacts people. Some people are constantly sick and have regular crises and some are hardly sick at all. I know a case of a guy who did not even know he was sickle cell, till he want to get checked when he and his then fiancé were planning on getting married. He was shocked at the result of his test as he hardly gets sick.

We really need to reduce the demand for foreign exchange.
Bless you. All these are just rules that will be broken. There are even Aboki FX dealers that have accounts in UK, US and Canada. You pay them niara in Nigeria and they transfer the FX to an account of your choice abroad.
You can't use rules and regulations to control a nations currency, all that will do is drive the black market even more. The only way to is to REDUCE demand for Fx. This can only be done by sorting out security and infrastructure so local manufacturing and processing can thrive, as well as cutting down on oil leakages

We have scarcity of FX due to a number of reasons, and this clown wants us to import more food which will only make the FX situation even worse!!
the govt needs to fight banditry in a no holds barred way, so the farms will be secure for people to take up farming in a big way. support should be given to farmers in terms of high yield seeds, fertilizers and also storage facilities to reduce waste.
We will always need to import some food items, but Nigeria has the capacity to be self sufficient and even a net exporter of most of our food staples

How exactly are you going to end this in Benin? The only protest that Tinubu will sit up and take notice on is protest in Lagos, Kano, Kaduna and Abjua. If you protest in Benin you are only making things harder for the common man, and eventually the ageberos and hoodlums will take over the protest, leading to the army coming in to quell it. Work done zero. If you feel u must protest go and join them in Lagos to do it

There are more people in Ikeja than there are in Qatar. We are a big massive disgrace of a nation

It is looking like APC will win. PDP chose a man who cannot speak his mother's tongue and needs an interpreter talk to his own people, while LP chose a man who has a Yoruba name and lives in Lagos in contravention to the popular Edo slogan that Edo no be Lagos.
You are very ignorant
For your information lots of Edo families have links with other parts of the country, you seem to forget Edo was an empire. Also the Edo's are well traveled.
The Bello-Osagie family for example is a prominent Bini family, yet they tend to answer Muslim names(I assume you know Hakeem Bello-Osagie formally of UBA). Would you say a Bello-Osagie can't contest for Edo Governor?
The Akpata family have been very involved in politics right from the time of old Bendel state. In the 2nd republic, the senator for Bendel central, then covered the Bini area was Senator Olu Akpata. The former director of NPA was Tayo Akpata and he lived in GRA Benin City
Also the former governor of old Bendel state was Amborse Folorunsho Ali nobody said he was not a true Esan man, even though he was born in Ondo state

I am no Tinubu supporter, not by any means, but we need to be honest in this country.
Tinubu is trying to sort out the big mess left by Buhari.
If you recall it was almost 2 years that Governor Obaseki sounded the alarm, when he said the CBN was just printing money to give the states as monthly allocation, and Nigeria was in fact broke. He warned that this day would come when there would be high inflation, but nobody listened.
Peter Obi also raised the alarm during the campaign, as did Lamido Sanusi.
The simple sad fact is that ANY govt that came after Buhari was going to find things tough. For goodness sake what kind of govt would borrow so much that they have secured debts against future oils sales. In 8 years they could not repair our refineries or combat fuel theft. Buhari borrowed more than GEJ, OBJ, Abacha and IBB COMBINED! The data is out there to prove it just do a simple google search 'Nigerian debt chart'
Tinubu asked for the job, nobody forced it on him, so yes he must take the heat now, but people just need to understand that ANYBODY in that seat now would be facing the same heat.
If we must protest, the protest should be to demand a full and total probe of the Buhari administration and all those found guilty of defrauding should be thrown behind bars and their assets seized.

There are politicians in Esanland who know the issues and how to solve them.

This guy can start by being a special assistant to the gorvernor if he really wants to help, not just jump to the top table, to spend time understanding the terrain and local issues.

He wasn't even a PDP member 6 months ago, at least all the APC aspirants have held long term membership of their party.

PDP shame on you, di see finish wey you dey do for Edo pipo no go end well lai lai.
Is he only going to ve governor of Esan? He can easily appoint special advisors who are versed with the relevant local knowledge

The average wage (Blue workers/IFmetall) is $2.7k pm. For white workers/Collectum) is anywhere from $3.5-5.5k pm.

Rwanda wages is unspecified, but I pay my Tech team between $150 pm to as high as $350 pm on a retainer. But you can get a worker for as low as $50 pm.

My point is that Naira in Nigeria is a powerful currency, you will only understand this when you travel out to other countries in Africa, not Western countries though!

To be fair Scandinavian countries are VERY expensive. They put a lot of tax on things like alcohol as well

Is this how low we can sink to? "He is Esan only by ancestry". For real? We(Niger Delta) now deny our own because they don't speak the language? Assuming he becomes governor and is able to get a lot of development projects in Esan land would he still be less Esan because he can't speak the language? We need to start learning from the Itsekiri people who would gladly accept any one who has one pint of Itsekiri blood
I just tire for the guy that wrote that post. It's as if he wants an Esan bus driver to be governor as that's the only kind of person that will be 'Esan Enough' for him

He is only Esan by ancestry.

Doesn't speak the language, has never schooled or lived there.

Companies he is director of have no prescence over there.

Came all the way from Ibadan via Lagos to attempt to be another technocrat gorvernor.

Has zero idea of what it feels like to live and work in Esanland or even Ẹdo state.

We thought APC were shameless in the way they conducted their primaries, trust PDP to drag the bar even lower.

Local politics for local politicians on ground.

You could say the same and more about William Troost-Ekong. A man who was not born in Nigeria, never lived or played in Nigeria, yet lead Nigeria very well in the just concluded ACON.
Why not judge the man on what he plans to do for Edo state not where was born and lived.

Obaseki fought against Godfather imposition only for him to impose his stooge Ighodalo and become his godfather

Oshiomole fought against Anenih godfatherism only to become a godfather to Obaseki

What this only prove is that people are hypocrites and they only turn into activists seeking public favor when the game does not favor them
There's NOTHING wrong with having a favored candidate. it happens all over the world. Obama favored Hillary Clinton over Beany Sanders, and ensured that the super delegates voted for her at the convention. That's the only way she was able to defeat Sanders.
When you've held executive position, you understand what it takes, and it would be irresponsible to not support the person you think is the most qualified candidate.
What is very WRONG, is when a former leader(Governor or President) Does not let his chosen get on with the job. That's what Obasanjo tried to do with Umaru Yar'dua, Wike tried to do with Fubra, and Oshimole tried to do with Obaseki.
If Ighodalo ends up becoming governor, and Obaseki tries to control him, he will get exactly the same treatment, he gave Oshimole, and the Edo people will support that.

On a serious note, Nigeria is under priced and have been enjoying a robust homegrown economy!

Compared to Sweden and Rwanda where I live, Nigerians are simply enjoying! Naira is useless outside Nigeria but strong in Nigeria!

You got those stuffs for less than a dollar, 5SEK or 800Rwf.

Here's the bit. 800Rwf can't get you anything reasonable in Rwanda to cook! It can't even get you a bottle of coke!

Don't even talk about Sweden, burger (Macdonald) is $9 about 90 SEK.

Nigerian useless politicians have misused the collective efforts of our hardworking citizens!

This is the reason why years of looting the treasury doesn't show effects until now!

These comparisons are flawed. You would have to take the average wage in Sweden or Rwanda, then work out that can be purchased with that average wage in those countries, then compare with what the average wage in Nigeria can buy. Only then will you get to a realistic comparison
