You are actually making me point for me. This man has been a senator for 18 years and is non performing. That means he can't win based on his record, instead he needs Ibori's backing to get re-elected. It is for his people to reject him, regardless of whatever Ibori influence is brought to bear. As long as they keep voting the way Ibori wants, Ibori will keep being a power broker, and elected officials like the senator will keep kneeling for him. Sad but true fact I am afraid.

Question to you. Do you think any sane man, would kneel for another man unless he really has to?

Would you have said the same thing if it was a picture of Tinubu and a senator in Lagos?

You hypocrites don’t rate us at all. You wail daily about Tinubu and give approval to senators kneeling down before a convicted criminal who control Delta state politics.

I’m glad some of us saw through the shenanigans of the anti-Tinubu crew a long time ago. They target Tinubu simply because they hated the south west and nothing else. Their hypocrisy is gradually unraveling. Spits!

I don't know if you are referring to me or the other poster. For me I've never questioned Tinubu's status in Lagos as a godfather. Where I attacked him, was when we was trying to interfere in Edo politics. I was and remain a strong supporter of the 'Edo no be Lagos' crowd. Whatever Tinubu decides to do In Lagos is between him and Lagos people.

u nor dey shame for dis ur post. A Senator representing a region kneeling before a looter of another region.
No shame at all. How did the Senator get elected? Did he do it on his own merit? We can either face FACTS or live in FANTASY. The fact is in Delta state James Ibori is a POWER BROKER. Simple. That may be a good thing, it may be a bad thing, but it IS A THING. If this senator was confident that he can get re-elected without Ibori's support he would not be on his knees before him.
If you think it's shameful, then why not go and try to run for Senate in that constituency without Ibori's support and see how far you'll go. its easy to form mouth on Nairaland.

Are you really serious!?

Only a small and bigoted mind like yours would attach any significance to the anti-Igbo posts and utterances of Reno Omokri! Igbos, on the other hand, have gotten used to these kind of rants...they're like water off a ducks back!

Here is an example of exactly what Remo is saying. You take everything as 'Anti-Igbo'. The man is outlining some failings in the Igbo mindset, that have been exploited by other ethnic groups over the years. Rather than ponder on these, you result to saying it's 'Anti-Igbo'. Continue playing the Ostrich with your hand firmly in the sand, all the other groups in Nigeria will produce a president why you guys will be yelling 'Anti-Igbo' all the place

I agree it's nice to study history, but right now every southerners focus should be on the present. Simply put 2023 will be the most important election in our lifetime. The Fulani are not going to give up power easily. Buhari will either try and engineer a third term or hand pick another Fulani as his successor. The south needs UNITY now more than ever to confront the challenge ahead. Let's leave the past in the past and focus on securing a brighter future for our children.

I am tired of preaching sense into the heads of the youths from the eastern region and western region. You have said it all bro...

Like u said, the plan of these jihadist is to put the means of production and economy control in the hands of Muslims. This was the reason why hellrofai sacked over 4000k workers in Kaduna. Those sacked workers would be replaced through another recruitment where they will select only Muslims to fill in those gaps. The want to put the jobs in the hands of the Fulani jihadist. Open your eyes Southern leaders, you are all sleeping. Those southerners who are not sleeping are letting greed for power to close their mouths because they are scared of losing powers or must have collected bribes.

The future is now in the hands of the youths, southern youths have to wake up and stand against the southern politicians who are part of this disunity due to greed and corruption.

Bless you. just look at how the North panicked when the South united to ban open grazing. The SE and SW youths who keep abusing each other online are simply acting as useful idiots for the Fulani jihadists.

No. its bad followership ,the people do not desire it, they are not hungry for the good things of life that is taken for granted in other clime. they have mortgage their future and well being for the convinence of their uncaring leaders. you can see some ordinary Nigerians clamouring for the return of buhari and other underperforming governor despite their abysmal performance without adding an inch value to anybody shows the value such dumb masses place on their own life, welfare and happiness. so the followers are to blame

Bless you bro. This is very similar to what I wrote earlier. If the people do not demand things from their leaders, then they should not complain if those things are not provided. Until Nigerians learn to DEMAND quality leadership, they will keep being taken for a ride by their leaders.

Even poor countries in the world do not have to suffer this much. Not that there is light in the city and darkness in the villages; not that power goes out for few hours in a day only. Why really can't we just have electrical power in that country for decades now?

Have you demanded it of your leaders? I am sorry but change will not come by asking questions on NL. Nigerians need to rise up and make their leaders ACCOUNTABLE. How about the people of this country insisting that whoever wants to put themselves forward for president in 2023,must submit a detailed power generation and distribution plan in their electoral manifesto. Why don't the various civil society bodies like NANS, NLC...demand this?

So we have a couple of years to the next election. If we begin to educate ourselves now nkọ?

We'll at least acquire a taste for dictating to ourselves. We might work much harder to achieve it say in 10 years if we found it good for food, instead of hoping a dictator will force what we most likely wouldn't want on us in 20.

Do you see any iota of education occuring? For goodness sake we have been running this democracy since 1999 and we actually worse off today than we were then. The rule of law has completely broken down. It's an open question weather there will even be elections in some parts of the country, if the current rate of insecurity were to persist.
I am a realist. I would love to see free and fair elections product forward thinking visionary leaders, who would take this country to the next level, but i am sorry bro, nothing I've seen in the last 20 years convinces me that Nigeria as a society is ready for that. We need a full 'system reset'. Those who have conspired to plunder and bring the country down, must be dealt with severely. Only when this is done will a deterrent be set in stone.
Even if by some miracle, a quality person like NOI were to become president, do you think they would let her work? You will see the national assembly reject nominees simply because they are upright and refuse to bribe. You will see proposed bills that should benefit the nation, either amended or rejected because they threaten the interests of the powers that be. I am sorry to tell you bro, but we are simply not ready. Na only strong hand Nigerians dey understand!

Are you saying we are not yet sufficiently intelligent enough to use democracy to provide ourselves with the leadership that will change the course to where we would willingly choose to follow?

Then we better start learning because if you remember, we fought really hard for this democracy so its a bit too soon to be running back to Abacha!

On saying that, the irony of running back to Buhari doesn't elude me, and to Obasanjo, so if President Abacha had lived say lol.

Discipline yourselves, people.
We should be too old to be undisciplined!

"Are you saying we are not yet sufficiently intelligent enough to use democracy to provide ourselves with the leadership that will change the course to where we would willingly choose to follow?".......That is exactly what I am saying unfortunately. Was it Nigerian voters who voted for Buhari TWICE. A man who has shown no ability whatsoever to lead a complex country like Nigeria.
What of the national assembly? Is it not the same Nigerian voters that vote for the senators and reps, who pass laws to legalize looting? Look at 2023, is it not the same Nigerian voters who have STILL not learnt their lesson, and would rather pick a president based on which ethnic group they belong to rather than what qualities they bring to the role.
We are simply not ready for democracy. We need focused dictatorship for at least another 20 years

She can bring investment that will empower us financially to restructure ourselves how we want. You can not deny that money will follow her if we clean up our act a little bit.

Anyone else think buda is dreaming of them perhaps explain to bjdon why military can not structure Nigeria how many goes they have at it and why someone else just might be able to empower us to restructure ourselves. It is our future after all.
Please wake up and smell the coffee. Nigeria is a lawless country. Sensible international investors will never come here unless the entire legal and regulatory framework is overhauled. You need to stop thinking that this current democratic system can provide the leadership the country needs. It cant. We need a complete change of course, a firm dictator who will rule with an iron fist and ensure the rule of law is totally adhered to. Anything else is just more of the same.

The argument is some people will eventually get it right at some point. Look at Dubai for example, Dubai is just a single province in UAE, but it stands out from other province and set them on a race
There is rule of law in Dubai. My position stands bro. Corruption and disregard for the rule of law and due process is endemic in ALL parts of Nigeria today. No amount of restructuring is going to change that. Only when the people rise up and demand probity from their elected leaders, will things start to change.
Politics / Re: South-West Governors Propose Six Regions, Demand LG Autonomy, Resource Control by bjdon: 9:30am On Jul 12
All of these are just noise used to deceive the gullible masses. We had 3 regions then 4 in the first republic. There was corruption and strife. We had 12 states. There was corruption and strife. We had 19, then 21 then ....all the way to 36 states. There is still corruption and strife. We have had civilian, military, mix military and civilian, presidential system, parliamentary system....in all these there has been corruption and strife.
When will Nigerians finally understand that the problem is not the system of govt, it is the practitioners of that system. If you have regional autonomy tomorrow, you will still have Tinubu's in the SW, Kalu's in the SE, Ibori's in the SS, Gado Dollar in the NW.... Nothing will change. Untill the rule of law is firmly established in this country nothing will change.

What I dont understand, is why are northerners so uncritical of their leaders? For goodness sake we are in a govt where all the top security positions are held by northerners, yet the north is beset with banditry, murder and boko Haram killings. When killings were happening under GEJ northerners were saying it was an attempt to depopulate the North. What do you guys say now, when many many more people in the North have been killed under Buhari?
