Conventional warfare tactics are long abandoned by most groups. The Kenyan base attacks I'll bet is no different to the type of engagements the US military encountered in Afghanistan. Worse is the Americans were sometimes camped in frontline bases in very close proximity to enemy troops enduring probing attacks round the clock. Suicide and waves of attacks to try overwhelm bases, the modus operandi of this terrorists groups should be anticipated already. In Africa, probably due to funding, troops only make do with sandbags and digging trenches. It ends up inadequate. Blame the army hierarchy for not having the foresight, insufficient or outdated practices to combat new threats. Rigid mentality and doctrine would only mean they allow unnecessary deaths. Worse is after multiple scenarios, there remains very little uptake of lessons and innovation in some African armed forces. |
I'm wondering why you lots allow for conversations with terrorist or terrorist apologists. In other countries, you'd have all become under surveillance for even attempting to talk online with him. People here gloating over the defeat of a national army fighting evil should not be here and defeat the purpose of this thread. |
obailala:Let the truth be said that the decline started during Jonathan's regime. No doubt, oil prices has been the chief contributor to this and the anomaly that is politicians feeding the fx system got shut down. Mind you, it has also exposed heavily how the country is unable to get fx outside of oil. Now, if Mr Buhari was worth his weight, he'd have mapped out this before coming into power. From their campaign, they made it look like they had confidently drawn up blueprints for productivity in other areas. Instead, we got infinitely mundane mix and match and match policies especially in the black market. I mean it took quite a few months to employ a Finance Minister despite the seriousness of the economy! (akin to sailing in a storm with no one at the wheels) Couple this with a relatively lacklustre roadmap to local productivity to ensure exports or at least even seek trade deals to ensure exports if not now even the future. Instead, he'd managed with his atrocious economics, we have had to ensure a non uniform fx system where few with access to CBN can conveniently benefit to an extremely large extent. He's subsequently then shoved up policies that impacts directly on the most common man by and too slow to implement infrastructures that can spearhead productivity. The laws for example are terrible for businesses (I run one) yuck! His knack for arbitrary total bans on items we can not produce to meet demand without extensive government support is dumb. The result is that with salaries stagnant, we are now seeing majority of the population unable to afford items they need to survive. |
High oil prices Demand and supply... The first is obvious. Demand and supply was helped largely by the volume of fx in circulation under Jonathan. There was a lot of contracts and also a lot of hard currency exchanges via politicians which fed the bdc market. Couple that to the liberal attitude to bdc by CBN by way of high fx sales. It always managed to be in excess of supply or just about. Fair enough, while politician hand downs are evil and were a proportion of fx inflows for bdc. Buhari obviously cracked down on this, but he's also stopped spending completely. This has left the market completely drained of fx and with demand soaring. It's getting worse. It's ironic Mr Buhari is absolutely clueless with no alternative to limit fx scarcity also went on to limit the amount of fx inflows into the economy by limiting fx from bdc to $8000 monthly via the CBN. This absolutely meagre sum can not even scratch the surface unfortunately and so here we are with crippling economic conditions. |
Can we say maybe the Ivory Coast is getting excess defence support from others, i.e France? Though we can largely highlight probably their army's organisation culture too that they are able to instill professionalism from the highest cadre down to the lowest. Relative to equipment, we are considerably larger in number by a scale of 10 and apart from maybe corruption, it explains why they look relatively well kitted. |
Quite unfortunate really. Any business or investment promising you riches without an actual product, offering and whatnot backing it up is surely a boiler room operation or scam. I'm guessing it only gained traction here probably due to the economy and the lack of exposure to a sophisticated scheme like this. We can only hope for better education and probably common sense for those who think riches or great returns in life is as easy as offered on a platter by Mmm. |
What company resumes from a break on a saturday. lol I might be wrong though |
Abacha... The name that keeps on giving. Astonishing, many years after his death, we still haven't heard the last of his loots. |
PAC is actually a corporation set up by the Pakistani Airforce. 'On its own',... I meant an actual airforce that set up its own corp. and then actively went out to produce a fighter jet of its own in collaboration with China of course. No other country's airforce, correct me if wrong went on to establish a company that went on to produce an aircraft. nemesis2u: |
Patchesagain:You should cry then. |
tdayof:The interesting thing about this is if it is successful, Nigerian Air Force would be only the second airwing in the world to have privately built an aircraft on its own. The other is Pakistan. |
The judiciary is more or less no more in the pocket of the rich and powerful. Or how can this sham of a trial continue to get by at a snail's pace. https://www.theguardian.com/business/2016/oct/13/properties-seized-assets-corrupt-cash-crackdown-criminal-finances-bill-tax-havenMr Saraki's properties in the UK is also under scrutiny amongst others. |
Does this idiot not have mum and sisters? The females too like the few lazy one are those two acting like actual 'biitches' at the sight of money. ![]() |
Let's not be disingenuous here. The Mi 35 is an attack helicopter quite alright but it is not the most specialised AH compared to others. It is different that while it is an attack helicopter, it can also perform additional duties of troop transport in tandem with attack abilities. If for purely attack reasons, the specs on Rooivalk might just edge out Mi 35. For others, the absence of additional capabilities for Rooivalk outside of attack may mean its not the best. Either way, both are able to do one thing well. They can rip to shreds enemy troops when they are called in. |
Patchesagain:The terrorists can keep on trying but the Iraqi army has just pushed through to the Tigris river. Funny the cannon fodders used in suicide attacks do not think of the fear of their own leaders who push them, but then try to scamper away when it's their turn to die. |
The country's just like one big crime city with thugs, militants, rogues and so as Governors, etc. The security services on the other hand are petty, recording and releasing conversation. It's plain sad this are the things we contend with, when the country needs braniacs to solve problems. Funny is that Nigerians know little of the scale of surveillance possibility held by the government. You can read all about it if you know where to look. We need laws to protect the privacy of people, especially those working in surveillance who without guidelines can use this to even keep tabs on associates, exes, etc who are outside any investigation. |
Mr Sheriff in a bid to get re elected, cuddled up to the group then due to their populist acceptance amongst borno people. He famously promised them sharia in return for votes. Subsequently, the terrorist group got out of control as they felt despite all, they wanted a parallel existence to the constitution. |
^^^ Though easier said than done. It's necessary for our government to have had checks at very local levels to prevent ideologies, especially external types with parallel mindsets to the country's government. Hez might seem less harmful than shitty state but they remain a threat and when become very entrenched, they suddenly become as powerful as a state in their own way. In Lebanon, Hez and their national army are in some sort of stand offish scenario. The Americans trying to prevent the the further weakening of the state's, try to supply their army with sizeable arms to prevent being usurped by Hez which also gets continued supplies from Iran. |
Fantastically corrupt The amount of supporters he has would make you think he was Delta state's Robin Hood. This dude robbed all levels of generations even up to the unborn ones to enrich himself. Yet, he's celebrated like he accomplished a most astonishing feat of purpose. |
Western Aleppo that is... Unfortunately that of Syria's is a case of too many cooks spoil the broth. |
Nok234:Beijing Automotive Works Beijing 2022 is the full name or Yongshi Warrior. They're the same vehicles. What you're posting are variations. They are actually one and same. |
Nok234:There are actually... Many variants from private, gun trucks, etc |

The Innoson vehicle is also the Beijing 2022 jeep used by the Chinese army. |
Blogger's virus... The video is not South Africa. This is however Bashment, which is still a vulgar dance frowned upon even in Jamaica. The girl on the other hand got more than she bargained for, started out funny then spun to something more sinister and degrading for her. |
Turkey has for decades tinkered on with secularism and conservative islam. The latter means there exists a section of the population who are largely want to over compensate about their religion and hence liable to attacks such as today. Erdogan largely rolled back more of the comparatively relaxed constitution which also re-strengthened hardliners and conservatives. Its no surprise that the environment is favourable to issues like this. Even it is of no surprise anymore that some of the biggest raw materials for shitty state's explosives, ieds and so were largely trucked in from Turkey. It was one of the reason a section of his army attempted to depose him but failed and instead faced a large cull of ranks to be left with more Erdogan/conservative supporters. Russia's support and crushing of Aleppo had not gone down well with Turkey and a large proportion of their population who give tacit support to rebels against Assad. The response was the assassination of the Russian Ambassador by a state employee. |
The Government is erring by not obeying several court orders to set him free. At the same time, I don't really know about this guy as a revolutionary whatever. Passionate he may be but he's also spoken more than he could do or claim to be. From his claims of having airforces ready to countries on his side. I'll wager he's probably one of those who didn't anticipate how he'd become widely accepted. The Government on the other hand is making him widely recognised and popular with the treatment he receives. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=txHqCBdlAtM Here he claims to want to kill every black person, lends support to a racist view saying Africans are inferior, worth less and calls them Satan that we all deserve to die. |
giles14:Very wrong about Palmyra. Very important to Syria for propaganda and also is the route to the besieged Deir. Assad used the capture to pry up his government as the legitimate 'protector' of Syrian land, people, artifacts and implied the only force capable of clearing Syria of the filth of shitty state. Edit: RIP to the Officer. We hope to an end to the menace of BH soon. Apologies for off topic too |
Patchesagain:I doubt the Syrian troops would allow them leave. Besides, since they got them trapped in a very tight corner, it'll be interesting to see what options they got. I think shitty state apart from trying to capture ammo, also went for the oilfields. The noose tightening around them means they are trying to make as much room as possible for themselves in Syria. |
Henry240:Doubt up to 4000. From equipment captured, it showed very little defence of the city. Seems like the main bulk of the army got deployed elsewhere and left less experienced (paramilitary) numbers in Palmyra. Besides, small numbers of Tiger Forces were also in Palmyra when terrorists attacked. In another way, it also shows the poor quality of troops in many Arab units, once an enemy attacks, they peel away only for another counter attack to recapture previously captured areas by others which costs more lives. Most likely after Aleppo, Desert hawks, Tiger forces and the mix of the proscribed terror groups fighting for Assad would have to be redeployed there. |
patches689:Small enclave still left. Unfortunately, Palmyra got captured by shitty state, there'll have to be coordinated pushes on Mosul, raqqa, Palmyra (relieve Deir er Zor) in order to put the terrorists on the defensive instead of an ability to mount offensives at different points. |
I'll always wonder at the level of education of fellow citizens to invest in a questionable volatile business. Despite numerous reports of the dangers, the get rich quick - don't care how mentality of most meant it was ignored. Good luck to everyone involved in it, unfortunately the mass hysteria surrounding this might be the cause of the eventual collapse if it truly hasn't. |
I'm surprised many bar one lacked the foresight to know that his visit can not be unconnected to Nigeria's I'll advised support of the secessionist Western Sahara which How terrible it is that some of you can claim to be educated yet are empty husks instead |
