giles14:10km out as at last hour. Now for them to start securing their flanks. Happy days for those who have held out for 3 years. |
Please let some calm down about we suddenly becoming the 'bestest' in the whole region or Africa after we acquire hardware or a blonde dude visits you. Read this thread everyday and apart from the few pics available, the last few pages are more or less filled with arguments and some absolutely illogical at that. Enough with the exaggeration of phantom capabilities or pseudo awesomeness carried over from lala land. |
I have no problem with crackdown on hate speeches but the weaknesses of institutions in Nigeria. Where is the guarantee that the Head or staff in this institution would not then operate outside of their jurisdiction by abusing their power for other reasons. Before we know it, it'll become another political tool or another self styled 'J. Hoover'-esque type of operation. |
bidex111:Lol. Looks too tacky for 10 grand. Plus after wear and tear of firefights, would be better placed in the back of your locker than wearing again. On a more serious note, didn't know Chad had a rebel problem as well as having a satellite base for BH. |
Interesting... How do you deal with egg glut in the current market. |
playboy19:Extolling such is why some of his community is still a shite hole despite the opportunities available to them in America. Very soon, we shall have our own singers praising our own version of the drug trade - kidnapping because it would be implied it is the only for us to survive in a tough Nigeria. |
It isn't everything worth singing about... This is as worse as it gets, a Nigerian singing 'Narco songs', a very divisive man in Mexico where the guy sang about is from and left their country in a semi civil war with the state about selling drugs. It is a profound lack of talent if you think you should sing about drugs, coke, money. |
wallarwallar:Like the so called mc oluomo openly extolling the Governor and APC in the state, has police escorts and flys business class. Pray tell where he's getting this funds from... |
nnokwa042:Thanks |
AmadiAba:Kanu's modus operandi is not the best with hate speeches at the onset which got him arrested. The government also exacerbated this by how they handled it. However, you'll need to pick up a book and read on history. Things get worse when there are different parallel groups with opposing political aims of each security's constituency. Somalia, Libya, South Sudan etc are examples of where such types of groups exist...they're still burning today. |
AmadiAba:You are failing to understand that is one step from anarchy. A group outside the control of any level of government. Secession or referendum, hopefully if we get a mature government can be negotiated, however it is worrisome if you think creating your own 'self styled' security service does not amount to treason. There is bound to be conflicts because you would probably try to say you follow your own constitution which would lead to run ins with another constitution. |
Tinubu foot soldiers. They'll only move up the road and continue their state supported trade. |
Not my kind of topic but here goes... We've had in the past various reiterations of somewhat ethnic militias, OPC, Hisbah, Bakassi boys, etc. While they're semi tolerated, they're more or less answerable to the government or could be disbanded by the government in that state or where they exist. Issue is BSS is operating parallel to the government and with their increasing popularity, may soon become untameable. Once they have weapons, they effectively become a state security service within a state but outside the control of the state. |
Cut the shiit Nigeria... We had opportunities to give ND what it deserved, instead the air heads and the incorrigible corrupt thieves in government decided to do the worst possible by bribing those who were brave enough to pick up a gun for their share of the loot. Well, bad news as the population continues to increase, so also do we have a conveyor belt of ND youths who will also rise up to also demand, pillage and disrupt so they too can get their own daily meal. Sick of this country and the people. Seems like you have more bad people than good who then continue to make it worse than it has been before. |
Henry240:I did not foster the illusion anywhere of MRAPs as a silver bullet for IED problems Henry. Sorry for derailing, maybe should move to discussion thread |
Henry240:Square pegs for round holes. Mexico and Brazil are not dealing with ied threats rather they got cartels and gangs. I'm implying that vehicles for carrying troops in the North East are adapted for their environment than Toyota. Anywhere else in Nigeria, Hilux are good and solid workhorses for the armed forces and security services. It'll be foolhardy to waste limited resources on replacing them when we don't need MRAPs for non mine related conflicts. tdayof:Well, as said by you, the Americans used it for equipment not ferrying troops. |
My thoughts on the vehicle. I kinda understand about ground clearance especially if you encounter or manoeuvre boulder like terrain or any inclined ramp. From the pictures, the creation of the step ladders and possibly a storage port on the lower end of the chassis is what contributes to the low profile of the vehicle. It may be however be possible to install independent suspension upgrades, to improve their off-road performance. As for our hilux in the NE, we can go on to build on a smaller 4 X 4 SUV chassis similar to the M ATV Oshkosh. However, Just remember after all the addition of this mraps, the fuel bill for running this minimal 7 litre engines alone... Then you'll understand why the hierarchy still favours the nimble but dangerous Toyotas. |
Reward are not mandatory. It's probably because the country has gone to dogs hence why people think it is required to give him something. Shocker... In decent climes, it is actually clear that it is the right and only thing to do. |
bidexiii:Because ours was sourced from outside, it's a bit more expensive. The soldier rifle on its own is the most expensive. We can cut down in half if we locally produced our own rifles. In other areas, local industries can be serious if they were needed to locally produce some of the items he's wearing. Tactical vests (without plates inserted yet) can be sewn up. However knowing the bureaucracy of payment and what not, Nigeria and the government can be an INCREDIBLY frustrating experience after you would have expended tens/hundreds of millions to set up. The Chinese soldiers spend about $1500 against $10000~ for American soldiers per load out respectively. In between those numbers is an ideal figure that strikes the right balance in quality and cost effectiveness for our soldiers. Away from that, consider the Chinese don't also use knee pads, elbow pads, etc and focus less on equipping than The American whose camouflage is standard fire retardant. |
Lol. Using butt of a gun to break locks. Please Nigerian police should have a battering ram for raids like this. Quicker and easier entry lest you lose element of surprise. If raiding for actual persons, you give others opportunities to escape in the multiple seconds lost. |
The terrorists video @ bidexiii. They may be claiming it's Sambisa for exaggerated propaganda purposes, but I doubt it is. Rather, it may be another far flung location. The bread making and farming may indicate restricted access to food items with a short shelf life which means either they're far from communities or don't want to arouse suspicion buying bulk. Every other thing can be smuggled in or horse back, motorcycle or bought through intermediaries. Every time the criminals release media, the government should be discrediting them heavily. An ideology hating education, yet uses laptop and 'modems'. |
Why's he still in charge of any electoral post should be the question. Pakistan Prime Minister just got removed by its own parliament for getting involved in Panama and corruption. That country is more or less considered to be as badly run if not worse off than Nigeria. Just put it like this, our development goals are getting further from reality. Sigh. |
Indifferent to the Biafra struggle especially in regards to the continued poor state of governance through the decades. However I feel this is stoking tensions if he ventures outside the east. The same Lagos whose ethnic group he'd called names, threatened their churches and mud slinged. He has more than enough people in his control for example to recall an elected member to show the government how serious he is. |
This insane 'expedition' for oil in the Chad basin very close to the ever changing frontlines was always ill advised. The fatalities in this are quite painful. Our armed forces chiefs also seem to be giving us untruths about the status of the terrorist groups. The army's approach is at best haphazard and thus giving mixed results. (Go on and read Peccavi's blog and if only persons such as Eeben could write up about doctrines and approaches) Truth is while bh is an ideology which takes more time to defeat than a conventional war. Our doctrines and training is still drawing us back. Little tidbits as 'forensics', dna especially when so called bh leader's family were captured can be used to confirm in cases where claims of their deaths are pronunced without confirmation just adds to the confusion. |
Here goes another 'the thief from your tribe is bigger than mine'... Nigerians have chosen tribalism and theft again and again. Tinubu and Madueke are examples of persons that should rot in jail or strung to die in response to their magnitude of theft. Their collective stealing and power is why you have little or bleak outlooks on the development of the country. |
nemesis2u:Modified Just in case anyone wants to pass on the info previously posted here. Can nudge me here and I'll pass on via email. Bidexii Henry etc... |
Just wanted to chip this in here if the Nigerian Army is not already doing this. Modified |
chuxiano:Still quoting passenger and cargo flights... Do most of you all know private jet runway are not the same used by passenger liners. Private jets often loiter around after they land so they only land mostly at specified runways. Passenger jet runways are constantly landing crafts some minutes after the other. So it makes sense to have a fee structure to prevent them not keeping to time else it burns large holes in their pockets. £4000/day is impossible. Even airlines land quickly and take off later in the evening/morning to prevent large fees. Taken 1-4 passenger tickets would take care of their bills for that period too. Good business... Not so good for a business jet or private jet owner to pay that sum of money per day coupled that they stay longer than a day or more! The sick president who ought to retire is Not my cup of tea but the level of misinformation I see everyday irks me! Y'all just going wake up in the morning and passing on mistruths as facts. Video of separate runways for Luton rprivate jet runway including 737s and others like an aircraft from the Pakistani airforce. (Buhari is using Nigerian Airforce 1) Business jet Airbus A319 also in same class as Boeing 737 landed here and not on a busier passenger runway. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=At6IIulAIso |
Luton Airport is different from Heathrow. Please, noise charges like that of ICAO are what you quoted which they use as a penalty charge for noisy aircrafts. Look up ICAO chapter codes. Besides Heathrow is one of the busiest airports in the world and gives rough estimates for 'commercial aircrafts' All anyone has to do is look up the aircraft call sign on a air traffic radar, it shows you last journey of the aircraft plus other information. All I'm getting however is spurious claims of what private jet parking fees are, pulled from thin air. Most Nigerian private jet owners fly to Luton for a reason, cheaper there than all other London airports. Dantata, Jimoh etc all land there... |
folem:I still didn't see anything to do with aircraft parking fees. Harrods aviation and signature are the two companies handling FBO for Luton. Call them and enquire... Unless penalties handed out to airlines or cargo flights use of equipment. Please kindly screenshot the fees if its truly on the document linked above. |
Henry240:Was going to post this here this AM, the special forces team looks very professional. Their other SF, NAVSOG are also quite good. Look up snippets of their regime and other SF on Ultimate Hell Week. |
