Saintp: Hi, it's a good idea to get it if you can. Smaller employers will find it useful in getting an idea of what your previous supervisors think about you. I've seen recruitment decisions swayed in favor of applicants because they were able to present favorable reference letters at face to face interviews. For some bigger employers, they tend to contact/write directly to past employers/supervisors in some cases and get the reference. 2 Likes 3 Shares |

Icecream4U: It depends on your family size but N20m in readily available funds seems like a fair sum. See the expected funds one needs to have in place while processing an application for permanent residence through Express Entry below and at this link, https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/documents/proof-funds.html You will also learn a lot more about Express Entry by following this thread on Nairaland, https://www.nairaland.com/4657743/canadian-express-entry-federal-skilled/78

CEloka: Hi, it is possible to conclude the G1 and G2 within a month depending on your ability to pass them in that time. Once you present your valid Nigerian drivers licence as soon as you land and register for the G1, you wont need to present it again even if you don't get to G2 within a month. All the best. 2 Likes 4 Shares |

Rocorleone: Hi, as at now, CELPIP General Test for PR status to Canada is only available in Canada, Philippines, UAE and USA. Unless you're based in any of those locations, it's not a feasible option. If I may suggest, the earlier you get a date for IELTS and begin to study for it, the better for you. Hope this helps, https://www.celpip.ca/test-locations-fees/ 1 Like 2 Shares |

Asinkwa: Hi, write back (explanation letter) to the Tax Office you initially sent the application for child benefits to, explaining the use of wrong currency exchange rate in arriving at your equivalent income for the years you stated. Attach a new set of application forms you've filled out with correct income stated and send all with a copy of the previous form containing the wrong rates (for reference) and you will be fine. There may be a delay in processing your new application as they need to reconcile your position but it's better that you are getting it rectified once and for all. 2 Likes 1 Share |

leonaidas: Hi, you could send both as the cost to evaluate either, 1, 2 or more certificates sent together is the same. Then you would receive an ECA that covers both or just the one that IQAS feel is relevant, cheers. 1 Like 1 Share |

Jewel80: Hi, everyone is expected to declare cash they are landing with including students. This is more so for amounts equal to or over $10k. In your case, just declare what you have which shouldn't be an issue per your profile as a student and if asked, indicate that your relative will give you access to more funds as needed. It is a good idea to have evidence of tuition paid with you, have a safe trip and happy landing. 6 Likes 1 Share |

As you rightly pointed out, the online details about them are sketchy. I would suggest pursuing your Canadian immigration application on your own with assistance from knowledgeable folks at the Canadian Express Entry/Federal Skilled Workers Program-Connect Here Part 4 thread on Nairaland. 2 Likes 2 Shares |

Jewel80: No, you get USD in Nigeria from the banks and then walk into any bank in Canada after you arrive and change to CAD. You can open both USD and CAD accounts here, change some to CAD for your use and deposit the rest USD. As exchange rate fluctuates, you can change to CAD to your advantage, that's how it is done, It is advised to bring as much money as you can as there's no limit as to what is recommended, you are the one who knows how much you have or how much your sponsors can afford. Just declare how much you have when required throughout your trip, cheers. 7 Likes 7 Shares |

Ethelia: Hi, this will not be an issue as the HOD could also have resigned and moved on with his career the day after he issued the reference. It does not invalidate the reference given. IRCC/VO will simply reach out to another officer in the company through the HR group for validation, get validation from HR directly or request (through ADR - additional document request) that you send an updated reference letter if at all that they really need to review/request at this stage. No need to be worried, this happens all the time all over the world and the VOs have a process in place to address this. All the best with the rest of the application processing. 2 Likes |

phf2be: Of course, once you show proof of residence in the school's catchment area and there is space in their respective grades to accommodate them. Where a school can not accommodate kids due to space constraints, you will be referred to the closest other school in the neighborhood that can take them. 2 Likes 1 Share |

shegzee43: The date of marriage on your marriage certificate has no bearing on your application, no negative effect in this your stated situation. Use your traditional marriage certificate to show when you first became a couple and your registry marriage certificate to show when you went to court. Even unmarried couples with children get granted PR, common law unions are equally recognised. Don't forget Canada recognises unmarried couples here as valid families. The province of Newfoundland just granted legal parents status to 3 people who have a child together in their polyamorous 'family' here. All the best with your application 6 Likes |

Joyce2020: No, that is not a must. It's not compulsory. The child can still keep the birth surname to honour the birth family or change to yours, it's by your collective choice. All the immigration processing requires is evidence that the relevant government body in Nigeria has formally given you adoption rights. Just like evidence of marriage is marriage certificate but the bride may choose to keep her maiden name or add the two. All the best. 10 Likes |
