JUST IN: Shekau has just released an audio saying his clip that went viral yesterday was made five years ago. He renews his threat against me and for the first time warns Ahmad Salkida (@A_Salkida) to be careful. He mocks G5 Sahel and says he is committed to his ideology as ever.

Shakau is on every thing that gets people high, even alcohol. I doubt if he will be able and willing to wait for the one in his own kind of paradise.

The general actually gave two differing pieces of information first there were 8-10 gun trucks and then 15 gun trucks. Thats the detail.

They were in close proximity to Boko with small trees and shrubs typical Sahel savanna terrain.

With a clear identifiable target with open spaces that marks the demarcation between friendly forces and foes. Any aircraft can do the job with precision ordinances and or missiles as well as a strafing run.

With the situation that General Adeniyi described l would have none. Troops are too close to the enemy and a strafing run will kill friend and foe.

I gave a very recent example with the French Mirage sent to help the IS forces caught up in a ambush fire fight in Niger. In which 4 US soldiers died. French pilots did not engage could not distinguish between friend and foe.

My preference would be too buckle down wait till night fall. Switch of all our vehicles off have a zero heat signature and allow the Wing Loong II UAV that gives us 30+ hours silent endurance to identify targets with its 12 ATGM's as compared to the 5+ hours fly time over head endurance of the noisy A29.

At nightfall with temperatures drop the FLIR from the Wing Loong will see and identity the Boko gun trucks like Christmas tree lights very clearly. Ground troops to coordinate and engage Boko with small arms fire ONLY and enduce Boko to use thier gun trucks which will further increase thier heat signature and easy identification.

As you know one A29 will procure 30 Wing Loong II UAV's. But just 2 will do the job comprehensively. Then our guys can go in and mop up and the UAV over head will be able to pin point individual Boko elements for our guys to neutralise.

I agree absolutely.

Lol. The North East is pretty big. I acknowledge that. Having drones overhead at all hours might seem like a waste. But what are the alternatives? If 24/7 surveillance is not in effect the enemy can move and strike at will. How many times have you read about their ambushing and killing our troops and even driving them out of their bases? Would that have happened if the troops had been forewarned and prepared?

The only alternative is hiring witches to fly all over and patrol the place on the regular tongue. Or build satellites and keep track of every living thing there. If we are serious about sh1t, permanent eyes in the sky is essential. Otherwise the enemy will only engage at times and places of their choosing and have the initiative.

By the way, nice of you to engage yours truly in a polite manner. Hope you are having a great weekend.

One of the best alternatives we've is the tucano, ready at all times responding to own military distress call. My only misgiving about the tucano deal is the time of delivery, which doesn't show the exigency in the North East and seriousness of the top military hierarchy.

The F35 is supposed to be a replacement for the A-10. And yet it is completely unarmored, slow to accelerate and has only one engine. A lucky shot into the engine by a DSHK well might bring it down, but what does an uniformed civilian like me know. Even worse, the plane is still a work in progress, with new problems being constantly discovered and retrofits where applicable ordered for existing aircraft.

More, you operated under a false assumption. For each Tucano you can buy from 15 to 20 Wing Loongs. So, if I were to choose from having one Tucano overhead armed with missiles, bombs and .50 caliber machine guns of relatively short range and having 15 to 20 Wing Loongs overhead, I would take the Wing Loongs every time and their missiles and bombs.

Also, rather than wait till Boko Haram is in range and be on the defensive, I would simply have 2-4 of these drones roaming overhead 24/7 with surveillance equipment and the rest parked a little higher in the sky and crammed with all the bombs and missiles they can fit in. With that in place, there's simply no way the enemy can approach my base, talk less of taking a sh1t without my knowing. Unless of course they are ghosts or passengers of Edo Airways grin

You are making it seem as if the North East is a 50 by 100 feet plot of land grin. Having drones loitering around is a waste of time and resources. I've never seen /read / heard any army operating it's drone like that.

In all honesty l have zero interest in the rational of the USA's over priced arms industry cost benefit analysis. And the comparison benefits of the F35, A29 & A10.

It's a deviation from the core discussion, which is essentially what's best for Nigeria.

In that context is it best value to buy 12 turboprop A29 Tucano for $600 million that will not be delivered until 2024 for supposedly poorer partner countries. It's an absolute waste of money IMO.

Consider how much the over priced precision ordinances and missiles that the A29 will require to be effective. Do you think it's sustainable in the long term❓

It essentially it makes a nonsense of the claimed operating cost of $500 an hour when you are paying $600 million to procure just 12 aircraft.

But back to the original discourse which was to look at alternative options and consider best value for the greatest delivery outcome.

A consideration of other platforms which l did with the immediately available Wing Loong II UAV. And its much cheaper precision ordinances and missiles and 30 hour endurance for ISTAR. As well as the SU25 which has a comparable operating cost to the A29 and far more adapt to the CAS role which people feel, not me is intrinsic for succes in the NE.

But a quite a few consider the discussion to be antagonistic and contentious. Which it really should not be.

IIRC in one of your replies to a poster( I think jphillips) you alluded that using guns on planes for CAS is obsolete, even pointing that it was a ww2 thing. The last sentence on my last post was in reply to that ; the F-35 is a replacement to the A10 and also uses a 25mm gun.
In reply to your best value, I would say so many people have pointed out to you that the contract involves so many things. Training pilots and technicians, building and upgrade of airbase, ammunitions etc In reply to your fit for purpose, Each wing of the wing long 2 has 3 hard points for carrying bombs and air to surface missiles, that makes it 6 bombs or 6 air to surface missiles in total. The A29 has 5 hard points to carry various ordinance and two.50 cal internal mounted guns. On YouTube the difference that the A10 makes to the Soldiers on the ground is using its GAU-8 Avenger guns, not it's "precision bombs". General Adeniyi said not less than 15 gun trucks. In situations like this, which would you prefer overhead, a wing long2 having 6 bombs to expend or an A29 having 5bombs to expend and could go on several staffing runs?

You are fixated with your view not with facts, substance and or rational, you really come across like a politician who evades all substance in favour of misrepresentation mixed with conjecture , to call it an opinion implies substance it is simply a view. Like a typical politician, you avoid the substance and highlight the suggestive, you adopt argument over appraisal and conclude with the whimsical.

Your personal self-birthed perception does not create the definition of a word, you have used the word disinformation and gloating to describe my write up. Let me remind you, disinformation refers to false or misleading information and to gloat is to derive malignant pleasure. I do neither.

You delight in arguement and rancour that is the DNA of a politician and proving yourself as the winner even if it is deluded your singular quest.

That is not the purpose of this forum and this particular discourse you have deviated so far from the core critical question in your personal quest to prove, I do not know what You are derailing matters and murdering balanced discussion. Lets take quite a few steps back to the critical core question, i reiterate, "Best value and the most efficient use of resources for the greatest impact in the NE"

Now hopefully you would have had cool ice cold drink of coca cola to cool your hot head down, and hopefully a smile grin now ask yourself have you addressed any of the items, questions and or issues in that core subject question

In the bold you allude to the core question albeit very slightly but do not address it directly or with a substantive approach . Now once again I implore you to look at what you have written with a cool head. Consider what you have written, "NATO said it's role doesn't fit their battlefield doctrine" So if an air frame does not meet the particular requirements of my air force delivery strategy, that air craft is not fit for my purposes, i.e. not fit for purpose According to you i quote you verbatim, "thats a concocted rubbish you made up" Do you know you are effectively confirming my substansive view. You claim that I am confusing myself, now with your head bowed down look in the mirror, and ask yourself, Who is confused

Everything else you have said is befuddled delusion in your misguided quest to prove, I do not know It is ignominious deviation from the core subject question, nonetheless I will indulge you.

For instance if NATO thought the A10 was so good why did nobody not one NATO procure this aircraft

You introduced the comparison of the $115k USA missile creating a unit of comparable measurement for cost benefit analysis but you have decided to completely avoid this in considering short and long term sustainability for the A29 in comparison to the Wing Loong II UAV and other alternative options with regards to the $600 million total package procurement price . I wonder why

I was specific, measured, with a structured methodology of cost and substantively rational under the heading of Best value and the most efficient use of resources for the greatest impact in the NE. You have not reciprocated but rather have chosen to be insultingly dismissive.

The A10 is a venerable CAS platform. And why are other airforce not using it might be due to concept of operation and order of battle. The troubled and wildly over-budget F-35 Lightning is supposed to replace the A-10 in the close air support role and this technologically advanced platform is not suitable for low tech job. For CAS you need low and slow platforms which can loiter for long hours. Given the F-35’s shortcomings, the Air Force is considering supplementing the plane with a relatively inexpensive light attack aircraft. The 3 aircrafts that are in the competition to provide a low tech, low cost platforms are ; Embraer A 29 super tucano, Beechcraft A26 wolverine and Textron airland scorpion.

In comparing the A29 and F-35, one of the major advantage is the operating cost, 500 dollars an hour as compared to 40,000 dollars an hour for the F-35. My take is that for a 3rd World country, the A29 is a better platform for CAS in an "uncontested air battle space".

The F-35 is equipped with a 25mm GAU rotary gun and you get to wonder what that gun will be used for in an age where dogfights are beyond visual range.

It is not a claim. I have not raised any claim my brother. I, like any other westernized Nigerian, have my reservations about having such foreign presence in our air base. Gen Malu once refused allowing such in a Sokoto army barracks and that was made public.

We have been buying aircrafts and jets for decades, and not all contracts had foreign countries build a hangar for us. It is a shame. big shame.

If possible, after mapping your Kianji air base by spy contractors; there would be future contracts that would also take the americans to Yola and Maiduguri. So its one step at a time bro. We still do not know these oyibo people, smh

Of. Course. I. Am. How could I not be as a neutral student of history. To even ask such a question means you've never examined geopolitical, socio economic trends even at a basic level.
First use THIS lockdown time to familiarise YOURSELF with the following
-how many Jews led the Communist party in the beginning and the number of their Russian victims
-who targets Palestinian kneecaps?
-the identify of the Original Israelites

Research those specific questions first. If you still think I'm anti semitic we can agree to disagree.

Edit: I posted this a few hours ago on another thread. Its critical as it reveals how the Impostors behave towards non Jews (human cattle) when they have power. It all happened during the worst ever period in our history, the last days of Moi when poverty was rampant and all gov oversight agencies were either asleep or compromised.
