My opinion. Maybe some gunshots from nowhere caused this confusion. And most of the gunshots were sounding so close, maybe to scare away those that fired the first shot as is usual with our security people. The DSS have operatives with diff skill sets, the question is, are these ones capable as body guards or close protection teams, this is because we have a penchant for square pegs in round holes. The gov too get odeshi or e too stubborn, na "get down" dey initially hard am. Make una tell am say hot lead no dey hear odeshi o.

Oga sir, nepotism is still high in the military, but reduced a little bit in it's selection process for intakes. Reason for this reduction is the COIN operations in the North East.

They say people come
Say people go
This particular gallant men were extra special
I know that you might be gone
And the world may not know
Still I see you celestial
Like a lion you roared
And rode like a god
Like an Eagle in circle
Perfect above
But the changing of winds
And the way water flows
Life is surely like the falling of snow
Those that love you are going to miss you
We know that
May your lights everglow

An ode to this gallant men.

He just lied to you that French convoy has never been hit but It was in the news 7 months ago, France lost a soldier in the hit, that's in Mali, perhaps by the time we research other French engagements, then you rather bury his coffin of lies.
Was he not the clown that told us the A10 wasn't fit for purpose, lol, the guy enjoys monkeying about with peurile lies.

There is a saying a picture says a thousand words.

The picture you posted was a M1151 HMMWV which is the armoured Humvee.

So bit of a contradiction from you.

Why would anybody want a soft skinned pick up in a hostile war zone ❓ But to answer your question l would want none of them both of them are a liability. Buy if l had to make choice it would be the Toyota. The Humvee is very heavy and slow bigger and a much easier target.

Mali lost near 50 troops a few days ago when Jihadists ambushed them. Why don't these ISWAP affiliates never attack French convoys.

There is something to be learned here in asking the question WHY.

You a lawyer or a salesman? You seem like those kind of people that could sell egg to a chicken. An "unintelligent chicken" for that matter. Take this as a satire, no insult intended please. Peace.

I wish it was 3 helicopter gunships on the run. ISWAP will no know there's a price to pay for every attack on a Nigerian military base.

When we talk of humvees l don't think anybody is talking about civilian variant buy the unarmoured Humvee.

As regard 14.5mm caliber bullets and or 12.7 even our MRAP will not stop that particular calibre.

Boko and ISWAP fighters in the main have light weapon indeed 95% + of thier fighter will have the ubiquitous AK47.

So if you have armoured vehicles you have effectively mitigated against 95% of the threat against you. Then you have to find away to deal with the gun trucks, Rpg7's and IED's.

That will reduce DRASTICALLY our casualty rate in the first instance.

I'm still telling you there's no difference between the unarmored Humvee and the civilian variant except the civilian type is made for luxury. I could remember in Iraq the US military had to weld steel plates on some of the unarmored Humvee just to make them relatively safe.

So if I understand you properly, you prefer A Hilux, maybe since Humvee can't stop .50caliber, I believe your Hilux can stop AA Guns as well as even 105mm Round

You didn't understand me "properly", there was no place I wrote about preferring the Hilux to the Humvee. What I meant is, there's no difference between a normal /not armored /un-armoured Humvee and a Hilux. Haven't you seen a civilian Humvee on our streets? The difference is one is "tushed up" and the other is not.

The Humvee is far better na grin

Who told you that? A standard Humvee will not stop any kind of projectile. It is no different in that respect to a civilian SUV.

An up-armored Humvee can stop essentially all pistol rounds, and most common rifle rounds (7.62x39mm, 5.45x39mm, 7.62x54mmR, 7.62x51mm NATO). It will NOT stop a .50 caliber round, nor will it protect against anti-tank weapons or IEDs.

Why do we post here as if we don't know how things work in international transactions. Simply cos transactions are between govts doesn't mean there isn't corruption. Will some people in the Chinese Govt be willing to play ball with some people in the Nigerian Govt if given opportunity? The answer is a big yes.

My question , why are the people from both sides killing each other for the so called mad leaders ?

So it begs the question as to who is really mad - the leaders or the people, isn't it ?

It should be easier for the mad leaders to sit down and iron out their differences. Most soldiers don't want to go to war but because they are obligated and ve a sense of duty they ve no other option. And also refusing an order in the military could result to court martial and execution. I understand your point though.

There are fifth columnists here. All they want is for the country to go up in flames to achieve their selfish interests. There are people here that are unreasonably uncouth and some do the same in a "wayoish" way. Before some days/weeks /months back I don't see any groups of people that support each other, the thread is dynamic ;a person supporting you today might be at your neck tomorrow because of differences in opinion.

@komken, you also make innuendos and your posts are too repetitive that they have become drab. Your constant verbiage here will not make any difference to the Nigerian army. Don't come here and lecture us about patriotism. If you really want a change I suggest you write directto the Nigerian army or if possible carry a placard and lead a one man protest, that's patriotism. This thread is for the fun of it, nothing more, nothing less.

the Egyptian president SISI , threatened to intervene militarily in libya against the GNA.

Algeria changed its constitution which prohibited its army from carrying out operations beyond its borders surely because of the situation in Libya, to respond to any kind of agression towards its territory or airspace .

so it's going to be a big mess these next months . lipsrsealed
