For those who don't understand amphibious warfare, what would you say about British SBS wearing life jackets.

It is what is done on operations because you can drown, whether you can swim or not. It is only divers who don't wear them for obvious reasons.

OK, fair enough. Didn't check before posting. The red jacket though.

My brother there are 5 local governments almost completely controlled by these guys here in Borno North.

Abadam
Marte
Gudzamala
Kukawa
Baga

Monguno is the only place bridging these fellows
And the military top brass will unashamedly tell us no LG is in the hands of BH.

Hmmmm Marte has always been controlled by BH. They just needed more ammo and walked into the Military base

Maybe you meant it in a different way but how can BH be controlling a place and in that same place there's a military base?

lol i would just laugh at this. i don't fine it funny when negative stuffs happens to nigeria but instead of ignoring i and trying to make as if it it happens to others then why not nigeria. i find such excuses stupid and baseless.

It's not about that it happens elsewhere, so that should be an excuse for the NA. it's about your hypocrisy.

and you can't compare the looses the US has had with that of the NA.everytime the US has looses, it goes into deep relection and seeks solution to improve.but with the NA it's the complete opposite, they keep epeating the same stupid errors which cost lives of vibrant nigerian youths. those in command are not accountable and they don't learn for past mistakes. and if i may ask you how many FOB have been lost by the US to taliban. not up tp 2 and most were little FOB man by 10 to 30 personel. so stop looking for excuses by saying if it happens to other then why not nigeria. I laugh at your errors because it is repeatitif and it has made the NA to be a JOKE in africa.gone are those days when the NA was a force to reckon with. When there was a crises in Mali in 2012 if am not mistaken, in every news platform, people were looking up to the NA to spearhead the intervention against the islamist but today who speaks of the NA again to intervene in peace keeping operations. As someone said here earlier, the Nigerian Navy and the NAF both suffered looses to iswap and BH but thye have learnt rom their mistakes. But the the NA still keep making the same mistakes all the time. The Nigeiran defence budget is 1 billion dollar, thats more than some european countries but yet troops still complain of the same problems. Why should i not laugh or joke about it when the NA has become the shoping center for iswap due to the strong head nature of the NA top brass.if you are satisfied with the state of the NA sorry it's not my case. I am a Cameroonian and i love seeing a strong NA like in those days because a Strong NA means stability in the region .

The US is a standard every where and it's a yard stick. My take is that it has happened else where, why are you so keen on putting these to our faces. I laughed when I read "... I love seeing a strong NA...", guy, you are very far from the truth because of your prior posts. You seem to be happy if something goes wrong with the NA. It happens elsewhere is not an excuse, all I'm trying to tell you is keep your hypocrisy to yourself. It's not just you, I've noticed that with other people from other nations too.

Yes

Then I think your part of Nigeria is not in this current Nigeria. In virtually every state in Nigeria you've minorities that don't ve any sense of belonging in those states. Decisions are taken without any inclusiveness, states that were created just to give some tribes an upper hand.

All the more reason why the head of police should not be appointed by the executive.

As for the issue of ethnicity, in the case of state police,I think that will drastically reduce.

Are you living in Nigeria?

You remind me of the reason I left my last girlfriend, yoo much excuses, instead of trying to be better, we shouldn't be losing equipments to bht, i dont care what is happening to other armies , we are doing things wrong, that is why we losing equipments at these rate, with the amount of equipment we have lost to BHT in ten years, they will overrun Benin and Togo's army comfortably.

I'm not excusing the loss of equipment, except if you are fabselad that seem to be always happy about anything negative on Nigeria.

When you use the word "control" in reference to the police,I reluctantly assume that you may not be seeing the big picture. The question is, is the police meant to be controlled?. One of the many problems facing the current centralized police system is political interference; senators have police slots, governors have slots, ministers have slots, even scullions in aso rock have designated slots. Why,infact, any big man needs just to point a finger to order arrests and perpetual detention.

The answer is that we need not just state and LG police, but full autonomy for the police force. Police chiefs should be elected and impeached by designated bodies, not based on political appointment.

Ideally, a police chief should be a gallant ombudsman, not a boy-boy to any governor or president.

As for how the states will fund their police, well, I agree with you. States cannot currently afford the cost of running police forces. If the FG is serious about decentralizing the police,I think it should be part of a wider structural reform. The FG must make up for the responsibility it is giving the states by enacting a system of fiscal federalism, which is popularly called "restructuring" in some circles. States should be allowed to generate money and use a bulk of the money generated for their individual needs.

Nigeria as it is right now oga, there is no way you can dissociate the police from control as long as the head is appointed and are being funded by the executive. Nigeria is a complex country with it's peculiarities. Ethnicity and religion plays a major role in our under development, there's no way you can take these out of the scheme of things. For an example, let's say state A has majority of an ethnic group which are a certain religion and then there's an ethno/religious crisis, how do you think the police will handle it? I've situations where cases are quashed/handled softly in police stations cos investigating officer and accused are from the same place.

My Brother not at the rate of the Nigerian military lol.it's like the Iraqi military with isis. the only thing remaining BH or iswap has not seized from NA is helicopter or plane. grin grin grin grin grin grin grin

I've noticed how most times you always want to use wayo to insult Nigeria. These kind of people behave like friends but laugh behind your back and might even stab you on the back. If the almighty US with billions of dollars in defence funding and a military industrial complex as compared to non could loose FOB's, military equipment and men to the Taliban, then I don't know why you should be "not at the rate of Nigeria military lol". Is your country helping in funding for the equipment?

I think Nigeria is not yet ripe for state police. My reasons are not far fetched; they will just be used as the governor deems fit. In states where their fault lines are ethno-religious, how will the police be controlled(this one is the major problem)? How will they be paid seeing that only two or three states are financially viable in Nigeria ( you cannot hold back their salaries for two, three or more months)?

Would be interesting to compare photos of ISWAP/BH person-borne IEDs / suicide vests with these latest 2 images from @ToudaKaka. I reckon the style has changed, arguably become more sophisticated and produced in a less roughshod manner. Reflective of increased ISWAP capability.

Lobbying to have an extension of their appointment? That's a joke gone too far. Nigeria is facing so many security threats and they are still lobbying to continue? If I were the C-in-C it shows that they are enjoying something else other than work.GMD NNPC also lobbying for extension.

I saw two different threads on the ISWAP on twitter. Most of the attacks were Dec/Jan/Feb; Baga, Metele etc. Though very unfortunate to the guys and their families, and very saddening to me, the BH terrorists decided to release the videos now for a reason, PROPAGANDA. We cannot in anyway absolve the ineptitude of the Nigeria state to the death of these brave patriots but may God in His infinite mercies assuage the feelings of the bereaved. Amen.

P. S. One was even like "proudly Nigerian army". People like these give meaning to patriotism, they make tears come out of your eyes. May God bless their own real good. Oh! Nigeria when will you appease the blood of these fallen men.
