BMPT Terminator, my weapon of choice for the NA in the North East(because of the double 30mm auto cannon and good crew protection and choice of thermobaric bombs for anti personnel) . The airforce should procure thermobaric bombs for those remote islands to be able to flush them out from their nonsense bunkers.

U.S objectives in Afghanistan are easy to list: stability, good governance and prosperity. It should be noted that the United States did not make a premeditated choice to focus it's attention on the small land locked mountainous region. 9/11 changed all that. The initial goal of US military operations was narrowly conceived ; the elimination of the threat posed by al-Qaeda. The mission was urgent and not preceded by any long term objective. Albeit they did make quick work of the Taliban regime, their efforts did not produce any rapid result on the hunt for Osama bin Laden. The longer the US stayed in Afghanistan, the more blurry the line became between it's narrow counter terror mission and a more ambitious effort of building a post Taliban Afghanistan. The question is, was the US' strategic objective of building a stable and prosperous Afghanistan achieved? The answer is no. And I think the Taliban will be back.

So much talk about equipment but not about the tactics of the army in this COIN. Are the current tactics the best, are they able to adapt into a fluid COIN environment? What are the capabilities of squad - platoon - company. The courage of a Nigerian infantry soldier can never be overstressed but this should be complemented with good tactics.

Ok then. Be sure to pass same message to the other guy throwing threats around.

I made a post before now, you misconstrued it or gave it a pass. The post is for everyone that's interested in making here a good place to kill some time. If this place could make any difference to the soldiers in the North East, then all the better for me. If at this minute it could stop the insurgency it's all good. I've lost some friends there (I'm not a military guy), and in a way I think for me this place keeps their memory alive. Let's not abase the sacrifices of the patriots by making insults here.

This is the problem. Veterans of the US wars get insulted times without number on such military forums, even men that have lost limbs to the war still get told that they fought a useless war and they still take it in good spirit. You have already started telling us its not a faceless forum and you can come and beat us.

The question you should ask yourself is, is beating innocent people your main aim as an officer? We have had of heroes that fought gallantly to secure villages, protect families and make the world better at war times. This one is threatening innocent people at peace time.

Oga I'm responsible for what I write here but I'm not responsible for what you thought I wrote. All I'm saying is be a gentle man. You don't have to resort to insults to pass your messages.

To all those people that think it's a faceless forum, remember that while it is perfectly acceptable to criticize the content of a post - criticizing the poster is not.
Mean spirited, nasty, snide, sarcastic, hateful, and rude individuals here don't warrant or deserve anyone's acknowledgement or respect.

Insulting me or anybody here Sir, is not an achievement, I have been insulted by even a mad person before so there is nothing unique about you insulting me. The only unique thing you can do for us here today is to stop wasting our time and tell us in very specific detail and with timeline on how the Nigerian armed forces that you are insulting us about, intend to:
1. Stop insurgency in the NE.
2. Rebuild the NE from years worth of battle damages.
3. Guaranty the safety and future of Nigerians living in the North East.
4. Equip and train members of the Nigerian armed forces to reflect the threat dynamics of the modern battle fields.
5. Reduce the participation of the Nigerian defense forces in local security and law enforcement operations to 5% or less.

If you cannot do any of these allow well meaning Nigerians to continue to communicate their fears.

Just wondering how you got to the point that a madman had to insult you.

The back and forth here is like a broken record. Anyway, nothing is going to change soon and I will implore you guys to hold your breaths for something tangible. Let's go back to the basics, the kind of recruits and cadets we churn out from depot and NDA, reorientate and give the best of education on modern warfare, tactics et al. And see the difference. No be by "good to go". And you guys seriously think the authorities are interested in what we write here. Tsssk. If you like write a thesis, as long as it's not showing the loopholes on how to embezzle, OYO.
P. S Meanwhile, you guys shouldn't be too hard on each other. This place is just for fun.

First A-29 Super Tucano delivery to Nigeria pushed back to May 2021

The first delivery in the foreign military sale of 12 A-29 Super Tucano aircraft to Nigeria is not expected until May 2021, one year later than initially scheduled. An Air Force official attributed the delay to contract negotiations that were finalized last December, months after the original deal was signed and implemented in Jan. 2018. "The A-29 production efforts were not able to start until the contract negotiations were completed. The delayed start shifted production line schedules from the fourth...

We just don't seem to get things right. I ve read the recent posts on the super tucano with interest. My major concern is the delivery date: 2020 or 2024. For those people quoting 2024, is the delivery date starting 2024 or ending that same year? If starting 2024 it just shows that the policy planners and decision makers in the military are masturbat-ng over the issues in the North East or effing Nigeria doggy style. It's very annoying and stinks to high heavens that there's no regard for the life of the ordinary soldier in the North East. One day na one day.

If what you wrote is the truth which I seriously doubt, then the Nigerian army is in even much more trouble than I thought. As the theatre commander and a major general and in a place with an ongoing kinetic warfare, he should have mobile comms that links direct to his boss and his subordinates. It's possible he used other channels but no one listened and again if that video as you said was meant to be official and someone leaked it, I cry for the army and my country.

Gen. Adeniyi, the gallant commander who led our troops in Operation Lafia Doyle & who appeared in a video that went viral 2 days ago complaining about the conditions that his troops were facing on the war front with BH was relieved of his appointment yesterday. What a pity!

FFK tweeted the above

I always take what FFK writes with a pinch of salt, for only him knows the brand of weed he takes, but if this message is true, I'm happy for the general and his family, at least he gets redeployed to another place. My only fear is, his replacement might be a puppet with those in charge pulling the strings not minding how many soldiers are sacrificed just to get a pyrrhic victory.
Foreign Affairs / Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by blacKDalia: 11:30pm On Mar 30, 2020
I salute the courage of the general on that video. He obviously knows the official channel /way to pass his message, but decided to record a video knowing it will get leaked. The military hierarchy is at present thinking and operating like the Russian military during the second World War, just pushing men to their death. In this war, no tactical or strategic goal, just a war of attrition and a war of "good to go, good to go", good to go where? To be used as cannon fodder? While generals sit in air conditioned offices thinking of the next racket. Na wa o.

Thought you guys have hibernated/finally gone for good. As usual from ISWAP, this is a mix match of old video's. An army aviation is the way to go; but it all depends on the quality of platforms that will be bought, even some replies on the twitter handle are advocating this.
WARTHUNDER:

Whole of West Africa & Lake Chad Basin is not safe with ISWAP now a brown camo color uniform (no longer unidentified guerrillas in hiding) wearing kitted mobile light armoured 4x4 infantry force of ex-Libyan Army Academy graduate officers and infantry tactics trained fighting men, no wonder they can well operate our T-55 tanks when they capture them.

ISWAP is stronger by far than BHT. This ISWAP now has defence budget funded by tax levied on Nigerian fishermen and farmers in L. TChad Basin. The only difference between ISWAP and NA is lack of air support, MBT tanks, and 155mm howitzer artillery, ISWAP has now rocket launcher artillery.

Look at their new defence industry products, is ISWAP too building LAV as DICON builds LAV? ISWAP is coming with own armoured 4x4 gun trucks and Presidency senior staff are busy dog fighting among themselves on security matters! This country becomes a comedy joke.

I am not sure the date of this video. Looks like 2019, but 12 months ago isn't too far, but am sure it show weak the average Nigerian Army infantry motorized unit has become, compared to 1980s.

I am not sure it's common practice to post enemy Insurgents videos here, but am sure not everybody saw this video if you did.

Hello, but I am sure the solution is not really army aviation helicopters fleet, our AFV fleet is failing badly as seen in this video, see Cobra APC & Caiman MRAP & BM-Grad MRLS all captured intact from our hands. Look at half way time 1:10 minutes of the video, ISWAP is back with real AAA heavy anti-aircraft, if you fly army aviation soft skin helicopters those ISWAP ZPU-1 will shoot down our new NA birds.

Video:

https://twitter.com/i/status/1087492918884077568

You see those soldiers of low rank-no rank inside trenches that video, those are the real war heroes whose sacrifice and service, keeps Jihadi Insurgents from entering our own bedrooms to slaughter us like Sallah Rams.

Best way to spend $1 billion and end this war.

Like FG needs 800 mix fleet of BTR-90 & BMP-2 mix fleet of 400 each. Radio comms for every soldier, long range thermal night vision camera & SATCOM radio & perimeter HESCO for all FOBs to be returned back to former positions, 200 modern standard equipped FOB, doing constant 24/7 patrol & offensive at regiment unit level. Then victory can come or else Nigeria becomes a permanent war guerrilla terrorism active country forever and ever.

This war is a big insult to Nigeria of our size and resources . If cash is low, we can take loans with 1 billion barrels crude oil & gas fields as collateral, a war loan to end this war. Why President M Buhari is afraid of loan debt and prefers everlasting war on his country, is hard for many to understand. For those excusing Mr. President for this war getting worse, dont tell me Buhari does not know what a BMP-2 & BTR-90 can do to turn tide in our favour and save this country. Rather ask him why he is not doing it, why he is not rebuilding the army with correct type of equipment, he wears rank of Major-General (RTD) and he was trained in America's best officers academy USAWC Pennsylvania.

I could see some Hesco sandbags in the pictures. However, they are not tall enough.

And you could actually see the terrorists using their barriers against them just like we see in most ISWAP attacks on NA bases. Barriers surrounding a base should be high enough so that people don't lean on it and shoot the heck out of the people within the base.

They should be made not just high enough but in a way that the outside part of the barrier should be made very steep or perpendicular so that the insurgents will not be able to climb up easily. This is some of the advantages of Hesco sand bags.
