On a 160k income, I gotta commend u. U should open a thread on your savings culture FlyboyZee: |
Specialist900:The more reason why I advised he goes for a corolla instead of a accord. Less cost, it get you around and frankly, it's not bad to look at |
chucky234:In as much as the above is true, ild advice u go for a corolla or yaris. Honda can't take as much abuse as toyota and judging by your tone, ure looking to not spend much on maintaining a vehicle. There's also the issue of fuel economy. My 05 corolla Le auto tranny (bought 9ja used) that even needs an O2 sensor replacement( this will improve fuel economy) still averages 30mpg when the manufacture spec is 35mpg for combined city/highway driving. I don't see any accord beating that. 2k fuel takes me through the week with AC and enough leftover for weekend movement. That said, all u gotta do is service with max 15k if u want to stick with manufacturers recommendation( 5w30 oil-7500, denso plugs-3k, oil filter-1500 and labour) and ure good to go. The Honda is certainly more luxurious, It took a lot of will for me to decide on the corolla but I gotta tell u it was d better choice. |
I'ld say go for the car so long u don't reach for ones with expensive maintenance. A regular car for a 25yr old is not luxury but a necessity if the initial outlay can be put together. A yoruba adage says when a child is old enough to own a hoe, we give him one. There might be a utility car at home but it's not urs and u still get restrictions and stuff.. The question should be what car to go for coz u certainly need one. |
Morning gazzuzz, How much will it cost to replace 02 sensor 1 bank 2 of a 2005 corolla Le |
I learnt with a truck, hilux precisely. Learnt the thing on my own. Started with reverse and forward inside. The compound until I opened the gate and hit the road one day. Folks didn't know for about 1yr

Morning guys, I have been using 5W 20 oil for my 05 corolla but you guys have helped me understand the need to stick with recommended oil so I want to use 5w30 for my servicing which is due already. All d petrol stations I've checked sell 5W20 and 0W40 but I stumbled on someone that sells 5W30 on here. My question is this, does the brand label matter, the brand the person sells is MORGAS oil but the viscosity is the recommended one for my car. Can anyone who has used this please share their experience. Thanks |
I remember reading in my car's manual that the d1 to 3 has to do with the stiffness of the car's ABS or so. I'll check it out again and update |
honmusa:My fan isn't directly connected.it was before but I switched it back to factory setting earlier this month. It's been sung here time after time how bad that is for the car. |
I don't think it's a good idea to idle for long. Sometimes last week, I was idling with the AC running , after about 45mins and i noticed my temp gauge was almost on red and quickly powered down the car. |
Mine is a clunking sound like something is loose under the car or In the wheel, I've checked but found nothing. It's started to affect d balance of the car now as it feels like it's swaying at time on motion erico2k2: |
It's not even expensive to change the linkage, got mine done for 6k but it seems to av worsened the problem. I don't speed past 60 for fear of an unforseen failure pending when I'm chanced to have it checked out sanky346: |
2005 to 2007 corolla Switlife: |
The feedback I've been getting so far are these: 1. Stabliser linkage is bad if the shock absorbers are ok 2. Bushing needs to be changed Or tyres are bad I'm not going with any for now till I can get feedback frm someone who isn't guessing as wildly |

Feels like your wheel is gonna fall off sanky346: |
Working on AC without a vacuum pump or manifold guage |
GAZZUZZ:The guy actually mentioned doing that but also said it could still run fine after testing plus the cost was already way above my budget so I stuck with the old one. Good thing evaporator was fine else ild have tuck tails and ran ![]() |
mayor2013:He certainly sounds like he does. You're the bomb bro |
Kashif:I sure hope so. Hez at ikotun and the result is worth the distance travelled. The system was coupled and vacuumed then gased. The AC works like a charm..for now anyway, ild like to observe for a few days before breathing a sigh of relief. That's the status after 10hrs(9am to 6pm) and 20 sumtin grand

Work In Progress 1. Evaporator was checked and confirmed ok, it had a lot of oil that had to be flushed anyway. 2. Expansion valve changed. 3. Drier was blocked with pure water nylon by god know who and then cut off from the radiator..these were corrected 4. Compressor was repaired for low pressure..has excess oil too 5. Condenser and hi-low hoses were flushed This better work, my pocket aint smiling right now

I just got through, he called me. Booked appointment for 9 tomorrow. I'll update with feedback |
mayor2013:I've been unable to reach the guy. The mtn is unreachable and the other line is constantly switched off. Sent a text for alternate means of reaching him but no reply so far |
earthrealm:Could you plz recommend a tech that has this vacuum. Thanks |
sanky346:I have the same issue with my 05 corolla. Changed my stabiliser linkage 2 days ago but status is still the same. I'll check the bushing but I don't know what to look out for there. Please advise |
senator2k9:The engine doesn't vibrate when I switch on ac but i'll feel the ac getting powered like a kinda power surge. The only time it vibrated was after I changed the battery and that didn't take long to stop |
GAZZUZZ:He did. I remember that vividly |
GAZZUZZ:Dude working on it said the compressor is fine. How can I confirm this plz |
Kashif:Omo my battery screw me yday. The old one I had had been giving me signs it was gonna pack up so I got a new one and put it in d trunk. It eventually gave up on Friday and I switched to the new one Coming from work yesterday, the car just die 4 middle of road, thank God it wasn't express. Turns out the guys that pressure washed my engine had cut one of my alternator wires on Sunday and I didn't know. One sharp cab driver quickly used his battery to start my car and claimed his 1k sharply! No time |
Hello house, please help. I'm close to my wits end. I bought a 9ja used 2005 corolla and was duly informed the AC is faulty. It blows fine when speeding but blows hot when in traffic or parked. I have changed the condenser, serviced compressor, changed air filter, confirmed there is no gas leak, reconnected fan to start working on startup but this problem persists. Please recommend a reliable AC tech who knows his stuff if you know one. I'm on the mainland but I won't mind going anywhere so far the tech can fix my issue. Please assist a brother
