The op is generally right when it comes to finding work in the UK after masters, but it is also right that a UK masters will open doors for you elsewhere. A UK PhD is even more prestigious, as you can work in any part of the world easily, including international organizations.
Politics / Re: Ajaokuta Steel's Status - Fayemi by BlackMerchant(m): 12:12pm On Aug 18, 2016
Zoharariel:
Buhari & Fayemi are brain-dead fools! Instead of contacting & inviting the original designer & builder - Tyazhprom Export (TPE) to complete the construction exercise, they (The FG) are busy playing politics with it.

Read:

The Russian company that designed and built the now moribund Ajaokuta Steel Company Ltd (ASCL) about two decades ago has recently written to the federal government, indicating its willingness to return and complete the project so that the multibillion naira investment can commence production.

But it seems the federal government, which has not responded to the letter yet, is not very keen about the Russian firm’s offer to return and make the rusted company work again.

Russian Tyazhprom Export, a steel industry construction company established in the late 1950s, had after the June 4, 1976 bilateral agreements signed by Nigeria and Russia, on the development of the former’s iron deposit, sealed a contract (047/04100) for the construction of a steel plant with the capacity of producing 1.3 million tonnes of steel per year.

With the contract signed, the Russian company, as it could be recalled, deployed 1,000 Russian experts and 3,500 Nigerian workers to carry out the construction exercise that was completed up to 98 per cent by October 1993. Specifically, of the 482 Units that make up the entire ASCL, 476 of them were commissioned, including three rolling mills, TPS-TBS, repair and service shops that were all put into operation.

After that feat, the steel company was abandoned and left to rot away for years. And when the federal government made the move to revive the company in 2002, the same Russian company was invited to carry out an assessment audit of what needed to be done to revive it, but the effort was later stalled when government decided in 2005 to give the company on concession to one Global Infrastructure Holdings Ltd. That agreement, too, was later said to have been cancelled in 2008.

You just dived into the ocean of conclusion the way women jump into conclusion.

Career / Re: Is There Any Hope For Microbiologist In Nigeria by BlackMerchant(m): 8:08am On Jul 04, 2016
I have a younger sister who is studying to become a microbiologist. Yesterday, I interviewed her on her career path. She told me she wanted to work in a research institute as a researcher. She mentioned WHO and their affiliate institutes in Nigeria. Importantly, she has this desire to pioneer cure for some intractable diseases. Needless to say, I was impressed. She told me that some of the chaps who discovered vaccines for some diseases were microbiologists. So, op, there is hope, once you decide on what to do with your degree. Make this decision early enough. Then work for it. And trust God.

Best wishes.

you people are just mischievous. A novel idea and you already believe it will work? What are the indices? Even top economists I have spoken to criticized this move by CBN. I'm talking professors here

You are just too incoherent for comfort! Lol!

Dude, the idea is novel because it has never been tried in Nigeria before. Kabish.

keep deceiving yourself.. This is not the first time Naira is being floated.. It was floated during babangida's regime and that was what crashed the strength of the naira to dollar then.. Let's see if naira doenst hit 500 to 1 dollar in few weeks time

You are the one deceiving yourself. Babangida never floated the Naira as PMB is doing now. Rather, Babangida devalued the Naira as part of the Structural Adjustment Programme(SAP), as part of the conditions given by IMF for its loan to Nigeria at that time. The floating of the Naira today is a very novel idea by Emefiele. Please stop misinforming people.

This is really an era of change.

While the daughter of the last President was busy getting pregnant out of wedlock inside Aso Rock, Zara by contrast is subtly setting a precedence of responsibility, mentorship and class as the unofficial first daughter.

Loving this.

I never supported the administration of Jonathan, but I don't think it is fair for you to attack his daughter the way you did.

Remember that 5k promise by buhari? This is the same thing. You all don't ask sensible questions when policies are being proposed. In a normal society, this bill will be awesome when and if passed, but this is Nigeria. How are they going to fund it is the first question that comes to mind. How are they going to ensure that corruption does not overtake it's good intentions? Nigerians, for God's sake, ASK QUESTIONS. Don't let poverty cloud good judgement and common sense.

What is this one talking sef? Have you seen the content of the bill to know whether if those questions you've raised are taken care of? You just come here to rant off. Bros, park one side abeg.

Illiterates full Nairaland these days. Please read the purported bill again. It says that it intends to expand the jurisdiction of the court BY INCLUDING CRIMINAL MATTERS OF HUDUD and QISAS... It does not say it intends to elevate sharia law to federal law. The supposed bill only intends to increase the jusridiction of the sharia court so that it can entertain those matters on hudus or whatever. Ignorant people should stop spreading rumour here.

This is the video Evidence of how PDP rigged the rerun election in Degema Constituency of Rivers in the presence of the Deputy Governor of Rivers State.

The woman that announced the result is not the returning officer, but the assistant to the Electoral Officer. Note the way Dr Farar Dagogo, the PDP candidate, ( the man in white chewing an apple), was telling her what to write. Chai! And this was how PDP purportedly won in the other constituencies that results were declared in Rivers.

Why is PDP rigging when they claim they are on ground in Rivers?

It may seem that way, however you should know that youths must be very active in the politics of their land. It matters little if they choose a side to pitch their tent, whether Amaechi or Wike. What matters is that the main gladiators shun violence and shun distortion of reality.

That said, I admire Amaechi because of his courage and political sagacity. He has many imperfections, but his good side trumps over his bad side.

Unions shutting down the NNPC is unecessary because the FG has promised that no staff will lose his job over the unbundling. What exactly does PENGASSAN even mean by not being carried along? Are they saying they were not invited for tea and biscuits? What is paramount is that no staff has lost his job. Let the unions get back to work please.
