Politics / Fuel Subsidy Has Been Removed By The FG by BlackPeni5: 4:43pm On Jan 01, 2016
Congratulations Nigerians. The Federal government's gift to us this year is the removal of fuel subsidies in a very 'Technical' way. I'm totally in support of the government's removal of subsidy because I can't remember when I bought it at the regulated price. Besides, no provision for subsidy was made in the 2016 budget.

In the template below, the expected selling price is N85.10 which is based on the current price of crude oil. If the price of crude changes, there will now be a corresponding change in the price of PMS based on the price modulation introduced by the minister of petroleum.

Never the less, Nigerians should not expect to buy at the government's estimated price. The real determinants of the price will be the exchange rate, demand and supply.

Politics / Re: Media Chat: The 14 Things Buhari Said by BlackPeni5: 7:57am On Dec 31, 2015
I admire the president's honesty...He didn't try to sugar coat anything.

But the down side is that, he sounded clueless about many issues. He would need to ask the CBN Governor, He may have missed the programme which exposed his Ministers' involvement in corruption, etc.

The chat also showed that with enough pressure, Buhari can bend (which is evidence that he doesn't have a clear objective) as it relates to his agreement to ban Hijab when pressed by the journalists.

Buhari is a good man, but the Dictator is still strong within him as he doesn't respect the Judiciary. He even made the police look inferior by saying "How can the Police investigate the military when it should be the other way around".

We are in for rough times ahead.

What do u mean by Spirituality?

Religion is a bunch of agreed rules and regulations that bind a set of people together. Whereas, Spirituality is the personal relationship between a human being and a deity.

You can be spiritual without being religious and be religious without being spiritual. Others try to combine the two.

Why are State Governments wasting money on this carnival of a thing. Calabar started it in 2006 or so and now every state in the country are also doing Carnival even when there are no jobs. How do you expect a hungry man to celebrate?

Our economy is all about spending and trading. We need to encourage production and not just consumption.

Politics / Re: 2016 Budget: Buhari To Spend More Than Jonathan On Presidential Villa - Vanguard by BlackPeni5: 8:25am On Dec 30, 2015
Hypocritical Cluelessness...You condemn somebody and then do worse than them. I wonder if those tyres are made of gold. Even the clueless Jonathan reduced his expenditure to N6.6billion when Oil price was about $60 per barrel but the Dullardinh0 increased it by about 7 times with Oil price at $38.

From what I see, with N1.4 billion for travel, he can as well rule Nigeria from the comfort of his hotel abroad.

The breakdown of the budget also indicates that the government intends to spend N39 billion in running the Office of the President with major allocations going to car purchase at N3.9 billion and another N189 million to change tyres for some specified vehicles in the Presidency.

In 2014, Jonathan spent N12.2 billion on the State House, while in 2015, the government spent N6.6 billion for the presidential office, amid dwindling revenue occasioned by sliding oil prices.

Also, the Presidency will spend about N1.4 billion on travels during the fiscal year, according to the budgetary provisions.

One of the most outstanding State House spendings in 2016 will be the purchase of BMW saloon cars at N3.63 billion. It is not clear yet what purpose the cars would serve.

The State House budget also contains a repeat of projects the Jonathan administration repeatedly allocated funds for. An example is the purchase of computers, which has featured in budgets of previous government each year.

Meanwhile I am interested in the budgetary provision for food

Politics / Re: Is Ibe Kachikwu This Government’s New Year Sacrifice? by BlackPeni5: 2:14pm On Dec 29, 2015
In as much as I hate Sahara Reporters, this story is true. I also feel the dilemma the APC government is going through right now as stated below.

Here is the problem: This government is being haunted by the ghost of January 2012. They know that the Goodluck Jonathan government made the economic case for subsidy removal in 2012, but they are aware that Nigerians know that elements of this government while in opposition, including President Buhari, were in the forefront of the national opposition to Jonathan and the removal of subsidy then. In fact, it is safe to say that the national opposition against the removal of subsidy marked the beginning of the fall of the Jonathan government and also first signalled the possibility of the opposition taking over government. Now, the Buhari government is exactly at that point the Jonathan government was at this time in late 2011 and they now have to make a decision on the same issue. Originally, Buhari’s western friends were telling him to take the decision quickly upon coming to government, so as to ride on the goodwill of the people at that time. They reckoned Buhari would have gotten away with it, because Nigerians still giddy from sipping from the decanter of his change mantra would have easily given him the benefit of the doubt. But Buhari prevaricated and now we are here. All he and his government see now is the ghost of January 2012!

Never the less, subsidy should be removed because I have been buying PMS at N130 to N140 for the past 3 - 4 months with Subsidy.

Yaradua's government killed Yusuf and gave us the Boko Haram problem today. When they eventually kill Zakzaky, they will blame the subsequent southern government.

What crime did he commit when he was not part of the procession. If the procession was illegal, was he warned earlier by the police? Has he been warned about previous processions in the past?

If the government is trying to justify it's illegality via this sham trial, it should also be prepared for the consequences. Later they will start begging for reconciliation and settlement when the issue has gone out of hand.

adanny01:

If there must be a director of welfare for past presidents he cannot not still act alone like in this case that involves an armoured car. The office of the NSA is the only approving officer of goverment for such car.

Secondly, whoever the director of welfare is, he cannot act alone when posting military and SSS operatives for Buhari's protection.

The point is, anyway you want to look at it, the NSA is directly responsible for Buhari's car and security details.

It is not in Buhari's place to ask the NSA who is an agent of the FG that is responsible to buy him cars, where or how the money for the cars came about. If Civil servants of a ministry were paid salaries from that money, they are not responsible of finding out the source of the money.

Its Dokpesi's duty to ask PDP who gave him a publicity job why the PDP's finance director or treasurer is not paying him but the NSA. If i were Dokpesi, i will be scared at what i am getting into. Its like me giving you a job but asking you to go to a police station to get paid. I sure wont do that job or colllect the money.

Just recently in my hustle. A director called me and gave me one big job with big money. There were people way ahead of me that usually do those kind of jobs for him. I was suspicious. I later learned that everybody rejected that job, i declined too. The guy who later did was picked up and spent 2days at DSS office.

Nice analogy....but I don't fully agree with you. Even if the NSA is responsible for the cars, the fact that it was fraudulently acquired must be acknowledged by the President and not simply say it is my entitlement. As a business man it is important to do due diligence before accepting any job. But in cases when payment is not made upfront why will you reject payment for a job which you have already performed simply because of the person paying it. As long as your debtor has instructed the person to pay, you take your money.

Using your example, if I am told to go to the police station to collect my money I will definitely be suspicious. But if I have rendered a service, I must get paid as long as the payer is under the direct control of my debtor.

The main issue here in my opinion is not whether defence money was used for other purposes or not, it is that due process was not followed by the government in the virement of budgeted expenditure.

Yea except that in Buharis case, its his statutory entitlement backed up by law. In Dokpesi's case, it is illegal to use Nigeria's money for your personal publicity.

It seems you are the one not thinking here

It is Dokpesi's constitutional right to get paid for services rendered. So I don't understand what you are saying here. Stolen money is stolen money irrespective of what it is used for....forget story.

Senseless post. By law, he is entitled to three vehicles every four years. Fg cheated him and gave him two. The only corruption I see here is against the General whom Jonah-daft officials shortchanged.

If a Man steals money to buy a car as a gift for his wife, the man will be arrested and the gifts confiscated.

Dasuki stole money and bought a Car (though his entitlement) for Buhari. The source is faulty, thus it is the fruit of misappropriation which must be confiscated. The same way Raymond Dokpesi is not supposed to collect money for campaign from the NSA is the same way Buhari should not collect his entitlements from the NSA because Dasuki is not constitutionally empowered for those functions.

Try dey think small...its not so hard.

Declaration of property gotten from the fruit of corruption does not invalidate the source of the property.

Modified:
If a man steals money and buys a gift for his wife, he must be arrested and the gift confiscated by the police.

Raymond Dokpesi is a business man who collected money from the NSA for running a campaign. Since the money was ill gotten, he must answer for it because the NSA is not constitutionally empowered to pay for the FG's publicity.
In the same vein, GMB is not supposed to collect his constitutional entitlements from the NSA because it is not his responsibility to do so. There must be a Director of Welfare somewhere that should handle such matters.

Funds from all sources must be recovered but I think the only person(s) that should be prosecuted is Dasuki and others involved in the disbursement and sharing of the loot, not necessarily the beneficiaries. But if Dokpesi is tried and convicted, all others including GMB should be tried and convicted.
