The IMF Senior Resident Representative and Mission Chief for Nigeria, Mr Amine Mati, has said that Nigeria’s debt to gross domestic product ratio at 28 per cent has increased but is still below the average sub-Saharan Africa and Africa as a whole. He said this at the public presentation of the ‘Fall 2019 issue of the regional economic outlook for sub-Saharan Africa,’ in Lagos on Wednesday. While mentioning that the revenue to GDP was low, he urged the Federal Government to increase its drive to create more jobs and revamp its fiscal consolidation. He said, “Nigeria’s debt has increased but the level is way below the average for the region. Even if we include the CBN overdraft and others, we are talking about a debt to GDP ratio that does not go beyond 27 to 28 per cent to GDP and that is including AMCON overdrafts and others.” On fiscal consolidation, he said, “For resource intensive countries and the non-resource intensive countries, one thing that is common is that when there is trade shock, they have to react. So, you lose revenues, debt “In most countries, you would see debt is about 50 per cent to GDP and has increased since 2016 in all cases. But what is new is that most of the countries are back on a sustainable path and have plans to reduce debt through fiscal consolidation and they seem to have stabilised.” “The growth in per capita to the GDP since 2016 has been sustained for the 12 group of countries and has stayed sluggish for the group of countries because they have to be dealing with trade shock and how they respond to the shock has also affected what is their path.” In April, at the joint annual spring meetings with the World Bank in Washington DC, the IMF had expressed worry over Nigeria’s ability to repay its foreign debt, which was put at N24.387tn. In October, the IMF at another forum called for an effective debt management strategy that would ensure that the amount borrowed posed limited risk and the funds deployed for developmental purposes. The Managing Director, Financial Derivatives Company, Mr Bismarck Rewane, said, “We don’t have a debt crisis; we have a revenue problem but there are also other problems such as poverty, productivity. So, it is not as if we have a debt or revenue problem. Also, what we use our revenue for is also important.” Rewane, who is also a member of the President’s Economic Advisory Council, added, “The government expenditure and the government investment multiplier is much lower than the private sector multiplier and the difference between the flow of wealth and the stock of wealth is a different story.” https://punchng.com/again-imf-warns-nigeria-against-rising-debts/

The National Youth Service Corps has arrested a 200-level student who allegedly obtained a fake degree certificate and was undergoing the orientation exercise at the Zamfara State camp. Our correspondent learnt that the NYSC last Friday apprehended the student, identified only as Rose, who was a 200-level Journalism undergraduate at a university in Benin Republic. The NYSC Director-General, Brig. Gen. Shuaibu Ibrahim, confirmed the arrest of the student to our correspondent. He said the Benin Republic university wrote to the scheme when its officials discovered her on the social media, posting her photographs in the NYSC uniform in the Zamfara camp. She was undergoing the Batch C Stream 1 orientation course before she was arrested. The DG noted that the student had been brought to the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, and handed over to officials of the Department of State Services for further investigations. Ibrahim warned that the NYSC would clamp down on fake graduates and certificates, adding that anyone arrested would be handed over for prosecution. The DG said, “The clampdown on fake graduates and certificates is yielding more results. On Friday, one of the universities in Cotonou, Benin Republic saw their 200-level student in the NYSC uniform on the social media. She is supposed to be a 200-level of the university studying journalism. “But she went and purchased a fake certificate from another Benin Republic university and now served in the camp in Zamfara. So, her classmates saw her on the social media and raised the alarm to the university, which then alerted and wrote me. “The university said they recognised the efforts of the scheme in nabbing fake graduates and they were not a party to her fake certificate. So we got her arrested in Zamfara. She was brought to Abuja and we have arranged with the DSS to take her away.” |

Make I talk my own. Pls if you are a pastor or relative, don't criticise my comment. For me, to help the poor should be my top most priority. Compare the pictures above. when I pay tithe, who do they pay it to? Buy private jets, open schools that both the poor and average can't attend, but funny enough compulsory tithe payment sometimes are imposed on members. I now ask myself, is it not better to help the poor directly and earn your blessings from their hearts than pastors, where you only get blessings from their lips especially if urs is small? I talk my own, no insults pls |
Help me see the tithe takers ..

Russian President Vladimir Putin hits Africa Again! "Africa will never be independent, Africans believe in Europeans, Americans, and Chinese more than themselves. They don't trust themselves at all, African technocrats/Engineers aren't given the platform to practice what they studied instead they hire Chinese to construct roads for themselves. A white man will commit a crime in Africa but no action will be taken because the African authorities view us as Demigods, far from the truth. A black man can be abducted in Europe get harassed and even be killed but no African authority can even question. Africans present themselves as weak people with no hope, especially when dealing with Europeans and Americans. They are their own enemies. They hate each other and this gives their colonial masters the opportunity to continue exploring their resources. As far as I know, Africa is more of God's chosen continent, its a blessed continent and its time for Africans to Realise they are in a place where Americans, Europeans and Chinese are jealous of and wish it should be them there...You can't compare African weather with any other weather...African soil can feed the whole of Europe, America, and Asia but their problem is just one, "THEIR LEADERS". As far as I am concern their best president ever was Gaddafi". To me, it is left to the Africans to forget the emotion and try to understand the challenges attracting all these insults (though it not actually an insult but a reality). Keep shame and unnecessary pride aside, analyze the situation and think of what to do. Please do share these articles to others; not to make fun, mockery or entertainment, but to create further awareness within our society. Let the end-time of God not meet us in this state of inferiority and less significance on our own God-given continent. I am an African, I love Africa, But I Wish Africa Should Change. |
Dr Terfa Kahaga Anjov is a lecturer in the department of philosophy. The double PhD holder has come out clear #Grading #System The greatest challenge of man is the interpretation of reality. There are those who hold that the only thing that is permanent in this world is change. There are those who think that nothing changes, what we perceive as change in the world is the result of the fact that our senses deceive us. This has made it difficult for reality to be known. If the system has to change from free education to full sponsorship by the student who has no parent to carter for him or her in school or for poor parents who are struggling to live at a time there are no jobs and even those who have jobs do not know when salary is to be paid are made to pay higher fees every new academic year in the name of change is the only thing that is permanent will be wrong and unethical to say the least. The majority of the people who are in leadership positions today went to school free of charge. They had full meals, cigarette allowances, their clothes were washed and ironed out for them, incentives like car, house, jobs and the likes were offered to them on their graduation. Some of these graduates do not have projects to show as evidence of graduation. You just need to be registered in an institution for three years and you are good to go. They became professors by the number of years of teaching in the university. PhD was not a requirement for the rank of associate professor. The change is that you must present a PhD in the relevant field to be promoted to the rank of Senior Lecturer. Now the professors who never attended academic conference nationally or internationally is among those throwing out applications for promotion on the basis of lack of current publications. If the argument is that the standard of education has fallen in recent times, who is responsible for the fall? Aristotle tells us that everything acts according to its nature. A dog cannot give birth to a goat. If a dog gives birth to a goat for Aristotle such act is contra natura. It implies that the givers of education are responsible for the fall and the blame should not be placed on the shoulders of the the students who are struggling to study in the most difficult situations. It is true that in those days there was nothing like the internet, but the absence of it, school libraries were well equipped for research purposes. Students today pay for ICT but have no access to the school site in most cases, while individual cyber café is operating with high speed. The 5 grading system has been in use for as long as when university system was introduced in Nigeria. The call for a review of the grading system by NUC does not provide sufficient grounds for the change in classification apart from eliminating the use of "pass", thereby increasing the GPA requirements for graduation. This new grading system has not been forced on universities in the country. Are the students to worry about the grading system or the lack of infrastructure in the school which is making life difficult for them? Are they to worry about the consequences of none payment of school fees or to accept that education is not for the poor and voluntarily withdraw from their education pursuit? Problem solving is not a matter of hard handedness. The way forward is to revert to the 5 grading system period. |
Waiting for his arrival and many other guest. This is arranged by NASELS....FUK.CHAPTER. Update will be thoroughly brought here |
Just make this men forget this strike till December. Hana, school no sweet ooo. My official graduation tym was July and was shifted to October cause of the previous strike. Now from warning strike to indefinite strike. And Nigeria has never gone for indefinite strike for weeks , always in months. God why am I from a poor background? Na abroad I for dey so oooo |
The non academics of the federal university kashere (f.u.k) has embarked on strike to be called off on the 19th of this month over non payments of allowance. According to some staff of the baby institution, some who were to be payed an amount worth 65k received N650 only and some who were to collect 80k were payed N80 , and about 121million was sent to the school for payment of allowances, only for the VC to claim he is using only 28million to pay for their allowances and use the remaining for infrastructure. The question now is that, is the money sent for infrastructure or for payment of allowances?

I wish to plead with government and our people also to reason this closely with me... Enough of the incessant killings by Fulani herd's. After reading closely about sambisa forest, I took an analysis which I saw was efficient and very useful to not just me alone but to everyone here in the country. Sambisa Forest alone is about: * 686 square kilometers; * 6.8 million hectares; * 68 million plots of 100 feet by 100 feet; and * at 5 cows per plot, it can take 340 million cows. 340 million cows is 18 times the current number of cows in Nigeria. My question now is WHY ARE THERE INSISTING ON USING AN ALREADY OR READY TO USE LAND WHILE SUCH A BIG LAND IS THERE WASTING..... ? Doing nothing but to terrorist. Sambisa forest needs to be put into a good use... Please |
