European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Strictly Chelsea Talk: by Blue2(m): 9:43am On May 20, 2006
Wao! thank Grizzy for setting this thread! chelsea gets so much bad belle from people i just wonder whether its a sin to be a "gold fish"! I heard Shaun Wright is to be loaned back to Man C (source BBC site), i am not sure Shev can fit into the english league, i'd have prefered an Eto'o. Priemership futball is more aggressive, though shev could come in handy in our Champion league bid.
What the latest on Mikel, heard (by mouth) that Man U has finally agreed to let him come to chelsea! if that is true its great news! i predict great things for that boy. anyone knows where i can get a Big Chelsea flag and a J. Cole shirt!!!!

PoliticsRe: Pat Utomi For President In 2007? by Blue2(m): 10:26am On May 07, 2006
Pat hasn't come out equivocally to declare his interest in the Presidency but something of greater importance he along with some other like-minded people are doing is to create a platform for credible nigerians to vie for various political office. They'd be supported financially and most importantly they'd have teh crediblity of the group. If Coporate Nigeria can gander funds to support Baba's lust for power then i think Patito and his gang can show us that you don't need "dirty money" to win or is it rig an election!
PoliticsRe: Pat Utomi For President In 2007? by Blue2(m): 5:42pm On May 06, 2006
If Shagari a grade 2 teacher can rule us why not Pat who has a PhD, i am not saying that been an intellectual is a guarantee to been a good leader, but to me Pat might just be teh key. The guy has understudied Malaysia and that is one country nigeria can learn a lot from. The problem is most of our leaders don't appreciate the gravity of problem facing nigeria and even if they do they have never thought of how to tackle them. We need a visionary leader like Pat.
FashionRe: Nairaland Tee Shirts by Blue2(m): 12:30pm On May 06, 2006
How do e in naija get hold of these t-shirts! and the price too much! i would be proud to wear a nairaland t-shirt!
PoliticsRe: Pat Utomi For President In 2007? by Blue2(m): 12:08pm On May 06, 2006
If Uncle Pat feels he's got teh fight in him then i say GO FOR IT! for so long we have talked the talk i think its time our intellectuals WALK the WALK! yes i agree that been an intellectaul does automatically translate to been a good leader. but one of teh probs we have in nigeria is that our leaders most times don't understand the problem of teh country. most of our leaders have been unwillingly dragged to office Shagari, OBJ (1979 and 1999).
We need leaders wity vision and i believe PAt has it and moreso he fits into the current agitation for a leader from teh south-south. Pat is guaranteed my vote!

RomanceRe: Would you test your Fiance/Fiancee? by Blue2(m): 11:38am On Apr 29, 2006
After reading the first post, i couldn't believe my eyes shocked! your friend is an IDIOT QED! what kinda test is that!! angry If what you said is true then your friend has thrown away a JEWEL!
As to the testing issue, its a bit of a double edged sword, we should be careful in drawing conclusions to test we set out for our fiance(e). Yes we should test to give one an idea of what a person is capable of considering that you are going for a life partner. but these result should be looked at in proper prespective
CultureRe: Why Am I Often Approached By African Men? (An African-American Woman) by Blue2(m): 11:09am On Apr 29, 2006
i agree with bigsis to a great extent but i completely disagree with the overgenelised statement that "Nigeria is a desperate country, with no opportunities. They can't go back there. There is nothing for them. So desperation rules, and they will use anybody to get what they want". There are opportunties here!! and there are many things a nigerian who has developed him/herself in the US can coem and do in Nigeria. As to the possible reasons why African men like you, well assuming it wasn't for the reasons bigsis raised i can only presume that somehow there is something AFRICAN about you that they like. i know african men don't like a woman that shows too much independence (not offence meant!)
Nairaland GeneralRe: Nigeria Places 90th Of 115 Countries In It Ratings by Blue2(m): 10:27am On Apr 29, 2006
I am not surprised that we rank so low in IT, when we have leaders who don’t realise that importance of IT. Until they get in their thick skull that “human resources” not “natural resources” is what is needed to bring us out of this cesspool of underdevelopment and poverty, Nigeria will continue to languish at the bottom of the pot
TV/MoviesRe: Nigerian Tv Jingles by Blue2(m): 8:33am On Apr 29, 2006

RomanceRe: Dating Men as a Single Parent (Kid Born Out of Wedlock) by Blue2(m): 4:44pm On Apr 23, 2006
chocolatte, I understand where u are coming from. i know a girl who had a child out of wedlock and unfortunately the guy didn't rise up to his responsiblities. To your question, personally if I loved a girl and she had a child yes we could work it out, but like you rightfully pointed out your son is growing up and tendency is that he is really bonded to you. Another man coming in might seem like an intrusion, it would take some gettiing use to from his part and of course the guy. from you profile i guess u are staying in london which is a more liberal society than nigeria. I think the challenge you would have is getting your son to accept you man. i can't say i know how you would do this, but my view is you should start getting him to understand that mummy needs (i hope i'm using the right word!) a man.

CultureRe: Nigerian Proverbs (in English) by Blue2(m): 4:42pm On Apr 15, 2006
It is in the house of a coward that people gather and point to the tomb of yesterday’s warrior

It is better to eat mushroom in freedom than to eat meat in slavery

If you choose to lie down with dogs then you must be prepared to wake u with fleas

It is a foolish fly that is buried with a corpse

It is in the eyes of a lazy man that maize ripens

He who cannot rest cannot work; he who cannot let go, cannot hold on; he who cannot find footing, cannot go forward.
RomanceRe: Would You Kiss On A First Date? by Blue2(m): 4:20pm On Apr 15, 2006

EducationRe: Any Gist About Master's Degree In Uk by Blue2(m): 3:53pm On Apr 15, 2006
three months to departure is the earliest you can file in an application for visa, but u have to start planning and seeking advice from friends and professional companies that help students travelling to the uk. its not as easy as mots people make it seem!
your papers have to be right and speak for themselves be it sponsor letter, addmission and most importantly YOURSELF
Christianity EtcRe: Da Vinci Code: A Lesson To Muslims by Blue2(m): 3:08pm On Apr 15, 2006
Zak (i hope u don't mind me shorten ur name), i have stayed in the north for 12 years during my secondary (Jos) and university (Minna) days. i am not anti-muslim because my maternal grandparents are muslims and i don't have anything personal against the religion, i have some really great muslim freinds. that said my views are this
If a similar publication was made against islam believe me we no go hear word! people would have been killed and maimed, properties burnt and lives destroyed!
it's not the ignorant and illiterate that do teh damge (even if it appears so from outside), it's the educated and Bourgeois that insitigate those poor people to do awful things at least in nigeria. The educated ones hold the greatest responsibilty

FamilyRe: Are Women In Nigeria Supposed To Expect And Accept Cheating Husbands? by Blue2(m): 10:40am On Apr 15, 2006
i agree with u Chinani! Women should not expect that their spouse would dheat on them! men (n women too) should be held to the vow they took. Agreed bodi no be wood, but like someone rightful pointed out down the line we should accept the fact that cheating spouses is normal.
EducationRe: Any Gist About Master's Degree In Uk by Blue2(m): 11:09am On Apr 14, 2006
Make sure u have enough funds 2 finance ur studies n living expenses! The former is more important, some people feel dat they can work n study. The moni u make might cover ur living expenses but not ur tuition. And be ready 4 visa wahala! Those ECO dey kolo sometimes! Lastly n very importantly APPLY FOR UR VISA ON TIME! at least 2 n a half months b4 departure. Good luck n all d best
