Konki:I mean a legal and lawful investigation into affair of emirate. You thats he's clean in one breath then say he just annother criminal in another. If that's case why does it matter if two corrupt people go after eachother. babakb:Each time the investigation start a few prominent figures come to squash it behind the scenes. It happened in 2017 and might be repeating today. This time its Buhari and Dangote. Why thst isn't suspicious to some of you is mystery. These guys should hold their peace instead of jumping into the affairs again. If there's illegality found they need to prosecute. If there's no evidence let the Kano anti corruption commission admit it in final report.
|
Konki:If they can't come out clean after a probe how that anyone's problem. I thought you been telling me Sanusi has nothing to worry about since he's clean so theif like everone else now? If you're not interested in allowing justice systems to work please admit it. I dont buy the excuse a legal investigation or prosecution means law and order breaks down. We shouldn't investigate any prominent figure if that's the case if we can claim that. |
coldFLARES1:NASS already did their jobs. The state assemblies are the ones that were supposed to ratifify the constructionial amendment. Most have refused to even vote on measure in. |
There's probably a specific history I'm not aware of for each state you mentioned. Alot of them were founded recently there should be something written on subject. |
I always assumed they just want it in a central location. That's why Abuja was chosen. Washington DC was chosen because of political comprise. |
Mayflowa:I agree let them finish and declare their finding. If they have nothing great. If they have something they need to prosecute him. Why this so hard for people to accept I dont know. Im guessing they affraid what they'll find. Konki:The emir not equivalent to head of state. Its more akin to a lg chairman of anything. The letter was directed at Emirate Council headed by Sanusi because he's the head of the Emirate. EFCC goes after governors ask Fayemi. A whole president in united states a fellow common law country was under investigation. These prominent figures should the agency do their work. If they don't find anything feel free to celebrate with bottle of your favorite drink. |
FriendNG:I agree this isn't satisfactory. Im think they'll end investigation like they did 2 years ago though. Nobody actually cares about justice anyway. |
I would blame protectionism and lack of border control. I think what's mainly being smuggled is rice, vehicles and other items on import ban list. Nigerian smugglers sneak Petroleum in Benin Republic because fuel is more expensive there. Nigeria could pressure Benin Republic on issue by threatening to close border again. Maybe more more joint opperations and patroling. The border situation is a serious issue that needs alot of attention. There's Drugs, weapons, smugglers, human trafficking and criminal gangs to worry about. |
ivandragon:Its what happens when disdain for one person overides reason. They so enthralled over Gandolla they think anyone that criticizes him becomes a saint. What I dont understand is why they're so against an investigation if they feel he's clean as a whistle. Just let the do like Mueller probe and admit they have nothing to prosecute him on. Instead the dance and clap when they read prominent men come to his rescue. I dont know why that doesn't raise alarm bells in anyone's else mind. Why does Sanusi require their assistance? |
tomju:The matter is still under investigation if you dont know this. The Kano anti corruption commission recommended suspension because the suspects are involved in suspicious transactions. Did you read everything they accused the Emirate of or just talking based this reply? The case hasn't been recommended for prosecution by anyone. |
laptopsale:You clearly didnt read what they accused him of. Did they make up these companies the Emirate contracted with? If theres nothing going on I dont why these prominent figure keep jumping into the issue. Just let investigators do their work. If there's nothing it will settle all doubts. All the purported companies listed above allegedly carried out contracts with the Emirate Council. These companies are not in existence, as search for their corporate status came out negative and virtually all the purposes for the expenditures, the amount involved and the legal status of the companies revealed prima facie case of fraud in the management of the Emirate Council funds as there were no budgetary provisions to justify the expenditure. To sum it all One hundred and Seventeen Million Seven Hundred and Seventy Two Thousand Four Hundred and Seventy Four Naira (N117,772,474.00) only were expended on fueling from 2014- 2017 by the Emirate Council, the disparity in the amount so involved, the ratio at which the fuel was consumed from 43 to 22 Million called for suspicion and indicated acts of misappropriation and fraud. (N54, 111,055.00) were expended by the Emirate Council from 2014 to 2017 on payment of airtime/data to Airtel Network Ltd. mostly on personal phone numbers. In his statement, Isah Bayero denied using his line to incur expenditure worth 25.6 Million while the remaining 29M was incurred by the Emir, his wives and Mannir Sanusi. |
tomju:Saying he met 1.6 billion naira at the beginning doesn't explain 4 years of transactions unless you think the account was dormant. It doesnt explain all the transactions to unregistered contractors. It doesn't explain his outrageous phone bills the Emirate racked up. The matter is still under investigation and results of probe haven't been made hence why they asked for suspension. You believe he's really unaware of everything going on around him? Its really easy to play the masses. |
You may wish to note that at the time His Highness was appointed Sarkin Kano, the exact amount in the account of the Kano Emirate Council was N1,893,378,923.38 (One Billion Eight Hundred and Ninety Three Million, Three Hundred and Seventy Eight Thousand, Nine Hundred and Twenty Seven Naira, Thirty Eight Kobo Only).Lol this doesn't answer anything. This one reason why corruption is so endemic. Anytime its time for the authorities to investigate anyone some prominent figure jumps to stop the investigation. Let the probe continue to its natural end. If there's evidence of illegality let prosecutors take it to court. Gandollas time will come. Let them both sit in jail together. |

reservd:Nigeria Bureau of statistics provides this data periodically. |
iammo:Yeah its hard not impossible. Its either the state collects then provides services or we enjoy mediocrity. Subsaharan countries are getting it done so lets not use informal economy as an excuse like we're the only one with this issue. Nigeria sits way below the African average anyway. As you said Nigerians can't depend on oil revenue for ever.
|
iammo:Lol they should stop whining and get their fiscal house in order. They're options are to raise taxes, cut expenses or cut workforce. Citezens should wake up to reality that government services arent free. They're going pay on the front or back end. Even Zamfara has the funds to pay minimum wage if they raised taxes. Zamfara GDP in 2017 was N1,100,458,020,000 yet their igr was N6,023,994,930.23. Thats less than 1% of their GDP. Assuming the IGR/GDP ratio is 5% they'll collect 55,022,901,000. At 10% it's 110,045,802,000. That should cover minimum wage increase and this is without taking allocation into account. Ps: Nigeria tax to GDP ratio is abysmal anyway. Its mot even 10%. Look at the other countries on chart. Services aren't free if they're stealing jail them.
|
Gaddafithe2nd:Lol funny enough LG are much less transparent that states. Most dont even have a website. Then theirs an issue with them raising their own IGR. Its its dumb for states to wait on allocation the same is true about local government. The great thing is none of them have immunity though.
|
tactius:I see them battling this to the supreme court. Akwa Ibom made the first move already. |
Citytrend:Cant enforce laws that dont exist. |
Sucks to be them. Lol they should of planned based on their IGR. Alot these states ignore rather subsist of allocation than increase tax revenue. Look at the state tax to GDP ratio for 2017 for proof. ex: Akwa Ibom Tax/GDP is less than 1%.
|
Ok we'll be waiting for it's completions in 2022. The previous administrations were playing games. After this bridge is done this politicians will be measured by what they deliver instead of promise. |
The New Humanitarian news agency (formerly IRIN) a few days ago released a detailed report on the security crisis which may threaten the coastal West Africa with invasion by the militias.I respect their reporting so I'll consider it. What percentage of these foreigners are recruited vs domestic. I contend it's in Nigeria it's the locals causing the crimes. Its just shows border security is more important than ever. Chatham House: Security reform suggestions |
Its already law so you're expected to. Your options are to raise taxes, cut expenses or cut workforce. |
I get tired of the excuse theres no money to fund minimum wage. The fact is law has been made and has to be obeyed. We just look at GDP of each state there's plenty of money and different taxes they could use to fund budgets. Look at the IGR to GDP ratio. Notice how tiny it is. Nigeria's issue is everyone has an excuse for everything. The solution is simple raise more revenue or cut the work force.
|
Ok please resign like you promised big mouth.
|
Alzirida:Oh well its what people wanted. They should be finishing aiport projects like cargo opperations, MRO and getting it ready for more International flights. Those projects don't have cool factor like a new airline. We can wait 5 years to see if this blows up in the tax payers face. On the bright side the flights are cheap. If I do come to Nigeria this year I'll patronise the airline. |
budaatum:I agree, both loads of laundry are being washed separately. Gandolla case is seperate affair and the corruption case isnt being personally handled by him. Its being handled by kano Anti-Corruption Commission (KACC) then it can be tried in court if charges are to be pressed. KACC patiently waited for the State assemblies investigation to close before they reopened their case against him. The courts also decided to stop State assembly from investigating Ganduje. Lol at eminence how did that that stop the Emirate from being balkanized?
|
cvibe2:Yeah since he's Emir he has to explain how many was spent. Kano Anti-Corruption Commission said they found evidence money was spent that without due process. 21 unregistered companies were assigned contracts. In the long report summary they mentioned Sanusi having unusually high telephone bills... (N54, 111,055.00) were expended by the Emirate Council from 2014 to 2017 on payment of airtime/data to Airtel Network Ltd. mostly on personal phone numbers. In his statement, Isah Bayero denied using his line to incur expenditure worth 25.6 Million while the remaining 29M was incurred by the Emir, his wives and Mannir Sanusi. |
sarrki:Lol Ganduje has many issues with discretion. I was honestly shocked when he sues Daily Nigerian for exposing him. That means the case can no longer be hidden under the rug since it will be investigated by multiple parties. He wants to die this hill. Im sure the party will interene at some point. We should have fun watching this show in the mean time.
|
sarrki:You're not making sense so take dome time and rethink this. The solution isnt to let corruption fester because both parties are crooks. They both need to be bought to justice. The state found evidence of corruption regarding the Emirate let court establish if there's guilt. Remember its the courts that stopped state house of assembly from investigating Gandolla. They also stopped Daily Nigerian from publishing videos ruining our fun. I'm not guarenteeing the assembly would do much. They choose their investigation against the emirate after the prominent figures lobbied them. |
