honeycrown: It's true, however, you can apply directly to the Nhs trust hospitals yourself. They're still conducting interviews for Nigerian nurses. But going through agencies might be difficult now. Thanks |

Good afternoon everyone, please how true is this information below, in regards to NHS and foreign trained nurses?
Hello Nurses,
Please find below update from most of the NHS employers:
Organisations recruiting healthcare professionals to the UK should still be following the UK Code of Practice for international recruitment during this unprecedented time.
What is NHS code of conduct? The NHS code of conduct was put together in 2004. It outline that Developing countries should not be targeted for recruitment.
This means you cannot advertise, promote or target nurses from developing countries or countries which accepts healthcare allowances from WHO.
India & Philippine are also included in the list but UK government signed special agreement with India & Philippine to recruit nurses.
We were allowed to accept applications if someone contact us directly either through email, phone or our website and we have been doing that over the years.
But in recent week we had an email from our NHS partners who told us not to recruit nurses from developing countries. This also applies for India or Philippine nurses working in developing countries too.
The Covid situation has brought abou drastic changes in the industry and as almost every country realised the importance of healthcare staff in recent days.
NHS employers at the moment don't want to recruit nurses from developing countries through third party. The active recruitment of healthcare staff from developing countries is prohibited, while recruitment agencies should not be supplying any staff from the developing countries list.
NHS Employers may consider unsolicited applications direct from an individual in a developing country if that individual is making an application directly to the hospital and not using a third party.
Due to this development, we have decided not to accept applications until further notice. You may please look around for other options. The only option I can see ahead is get a job in a Care Home/Private hospital.
Wishing you all the very best. Thank you. |

bns4eva: Bluebeard... Please what are you up to? It's not a must for you to answer people here, you always act like you know everything, yet you are empty,i read everything of you with vickyhe, pls if you don't have good reason to talk, pls hold your self and be watching.. Nmc UK only accept IELTS academics not GT.. Sincerely it was an error due to oversight, it wasn't intentional. Secondly its not a must to answer people here, truth be told, but what's the use having knowledge that others can't benefit from? Mind you, there are many times I've answered people correctly, you didn't ask me what I was up to.....its fine, obviously you saying all these due to personal vendetta. They were times, you asked questions in the past that I answered you. Of course you may find this hard to believe because I lost the password to the previous account, hence this moniker ...I was wrong saying GT was accepted, instead of Academic, I'm human, we all make mistakes. And the argument I had with Vicky, was ironed out, it was just a piece of the whole puzzle I was missing out, and I came here to thank her for the clarification, after Vicky and I spoke at length as regards it. We are all here to learn, if anyone ask questions I know the answers to, I'm gonna answer the person correctly, this time . |

boyka1: Please permit me to add voice to this.
You honestly dont need a letter of Maintenance in a situation where your employer had ticked YES against " Certify Maintenance for applicant and Dependants if any" on the Certificate of Sponsorship (COS). If by any chance, your employer certify maintenance for only applicant, in this case you could approach your employer for a LOM.
In my case, i printed my wife's COS and uploaded as evidence of proof of funds. Alright, thank you. |

Hunnybee: No agent sponsors ‘the person you’re coming with’ . It is the employer that gives a letter of maintenance, saying they will provide you with the money needed for your family to live on should you need it. This letter is what you provide in lieu of POF at the visa application. If you reach out to the HR dept of your trust/ employer , they’ll be able to provide you with it. Okay, I get you though. But we are still saying the same thing. Because the letter of maintenance could as well be referred to as letter of sponsorship, because you don't have to show proof of funds if the agent agrees to get you the "Letter of Maintenance". Anyways, thanks for the info |

SOLARPOWER1: Ok thanks. Do you know how much per person for the proof of fund ? It's on their official website, lemme get the link for you. But why not give it a trial, by asking the agent whether they can sponsor the person coming with you? U never can tell, there may be a favourable response https://www.gov.uk/tier-2-general/family-members |
Travel › Re: Nigerian Nurses And Midwives With The Dream Of Working Abroad Let's Meet Here. by BlueBeard(m): 3:58pm On May 05, 2020 |
SOLARPOWER1: Like how much is the proof of funds required for that? Is it stated on the embassy's website? Yes, it is stated on the embassy's website. But if u are lucky enough, u may be sponsored by the agents, and there won't be need to show proof of funds. And, if u are doing it yourself, u would need to show funds per individual following you, and the funds have to be in your account about 3months before they apply for the Tier-2 dependent visa |

auschris: In what capacity do you work with international nurses and who in Avant did you speak with? I moved here to the US through Avant in 2016. I completed my contract in 19 months. I coordinate and mentor a large group of international RNs from Nigeria from across many agencies. I also mentor another group of RNs in Nigeria that have passed their NCLEX and currently on their immigration process. I have first hand knowledge of the issue in question but I reserve my public judgment on that. However, I am very concerned that prospective international RNs are bearing the brunt of the actions of some our compatriots. Atleast we have a Nigerian working with Avant, that doesn't feel like he was used by Avant or taken advantage of, moreover, this is more authentic than just hear-say. Bottom line is, review your terms of contract well before embarking on one and breaching them |

vickyehi: @ bluebeard and @omonaija123 let's stop the assumptions about people and stop throwing shades. Esp @bluebeard
On the contract wahala, I always advice you read it well and know what the terms are. Avoid a contract longer than 2years because you may get frustrated if you hate the environment. Try not to breech your contract to prevent back lash on others but dont stay at any job to the detriment of your mental health. Places like avant pays about 26-28 bucks on an average and yes you may have friends in north California earning 60-100bucks. Try to do your time and then leave. The hospitals ups your pay from about 26 to 36 in some places after you are done with avant's contract and they retain you.
Ask your employers questions like: 1... the hours they are mandated to provide you in your contract. 2....if your contract is hours worked on based on time spent. Eg is it 2 years or 3000hours or whichever comes first. 3.....can you have a part time or locum job outside your contract? 4.....are there chances for overtime? 5.....do you get shift premiums? 6.....any opportunity for education sponsorship or reimbursement etc... Thanks.... @tomsss, come check this out. So you dont fall prey to dubious agents |

They are not allowing Nigerians to migrate to the US period so take your frustrations some where else . Alaye, calm down. The discussion here isn't about Migration, its about the ill-character of breaching contracts, and you seem to sound like the type that would breach contracts. Please don't P.S: USA isn't really my PPA |

hammed71: still, a contract shouldn't be breach, these guys helped you with permanent residency.if they are paying a quarter of what the hospitals pays them. Go online find a way to make money doing side hustles be it IT, online businesses and etc, in fact if you know how to play your cards right you will even be making double of what they are paying. There's this youtuber also a nurse called ' Alphaslice' follow him on YouTube and Instagram to learn. its just 2years contract, abeg make una no block road for others ooo.I don't want other agencies to follow avant footsteps Thanks to being a honest person. A contract is a contract, come rain come shine. And it shouldn't be breached |

omonaija123: From what I heard , money is a big issue, the agency would pay the nurse a quarter of what the agency is being paid by the hospital. Also working conditions , as a international nurse they going to put you in where they need nurses the most which may not be the best places. I also heard that sometimes Avant does not treat their international nurses right so that could also be another issue. From what you heard? Seriously? All these you're saying are hear-say... No doubt some agents are dubious, but anything to makes you sign the contract, you're obligated to abiding to it to the later. No b by focus to sign contract, imagine these agents jailing people who breach contracts, the same Nigerians would say they're racist.smh! Oga please do better, don't spoil the entrance after you've gained access. That's selfish |

Tomsss: So i messaged avanthealthcare to make enquiries about Nigerians applying through their agency. So apparently i was informed that apart from the travel ban in place stopping them from accepting Nigerians, majority of Nigerian RNs in the US now breach their contracts after 12 months. Due to this reason, they've suspended us from applying until they find tangible reasons on why they breach their contract. This is not fair tbh.We keep shouting our leaders our leaders,is it our leaders that are spoiling our image abroad too? We honestly need to do better Chief, I'm so sorry to hear that. Take heart Meanwhile, how about trying another recruiting agency? Abi everything don caste? I don't think those breaching their contracts are here again. Most nurses I've met here, immediately they get to UK or USA,they don't come here to check if there's any way they can provide answers to other people that are still undergoing the process. They just jakpaa for life |

Tomsss: Nigerians we really need to do better tbh. Let's put aside the fact that we are currently on Travel ban, some of y'all working in the US are breaching contracts which is making it difficult for agencies to want to recruit nurses from Nigeria. You are already living your dream doesnt mean you should make it harder for people that want to live theirs too. Do better pleaseee Waoh!!! Do u mind telling us more about the breach of contract? Could it be that they breach it unintentionally? Just bn curious though |
