LAGOS—THE Governorship Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in Lagos State, Mr. Jimi Agbaje, yesterday, picked Mrs Haleemat Oluwayemisi Busari as his running mate for the 2019 governorship poll. Mrs Busari, 55, a lawyer, hails from Epe in Lagos East Senatorial District of the state. A statement, by the Director of Media and Publicity of the Jimi Agbaje Campaign Organisation, JACO, Felix Oboagwina, yesterday, said the PDP candidate picked Mrs. Busari following comprehensive consultations with leaders and stakeholders within and outside the party. Jimi Agbaje “Mrs. Oluwayemisi Haleemat Busari came highly recommended and widely endorsed,” the statement said, adding that “stakeholders all agree that without any iota of doubt, the Jimi-Haleemat combination is a winning ticket on every count.” This is coming as the Lagos State Ohanaeze disagreed with Mr Joe Igbokwe over the support of the Igbo for the All Progressives Congress, APC candidates in the 2019 polls in Lagos, saying: “Ohanaeze today will not support Mr. Joe Igbokwe or any party which does not fully endorse restructuring, devolution of powers, true federalism, fiscal federalism or resource control.” Faulting Igbokwe on his new committee of 10 Igbo leaders rallying support for APC, the Lagos Ohanaeze, in a statement by Chief Chileze Uzor said: “Ndigbo in Lagos will only give their votes through accredited Ndigbo for parties endorsed by the Executive Committee of the new Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State, with a secretariat in Surulere, as directed by National Exco in Enugu.” Noting that the Ohanaeze Exco Lagos and committed Ndigbo living in Lagos delivered seven PDP candidates in 2015, Uzor said in 2019, it will support parties that are for restructuring because “this ideology can ensure basic and viable minimum living wage for workers and end hunger and criminality in our land. Our youths need an end to unemployment and poverty.” https://www.vanguardngr.com/2018/11/jimi-agbaje-picks-lawyer-as-running-mate/ |

National leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has dismissed the call for the resignation of the national chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiohmole, saying party supremacy must be respected. Tinubu made his position known when he fielded questions from State House correspondents after a closed door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House, Abuja, on Wednesday. According to the APC national leader, Oshiohmole has so far not violated APC constitution or engaged in any anti-party activity that will warrant his resignation or removal from office. He said: “We all have to respect the party supremacy. You were all here when we had the Congress, we elected the new executives, we had the convention, the NEC was formed and we surrendered to avoid conflict, to avoid domination, to avoid abuses of power, we surrendered our rights, all rights to the National Working Committee headed by Adams Oshiomohole; That the National Working Committee should set up electoral bodies to supervise various state congresses and elections. “We signed off for it. “So, if it is not in our individual favour, so be it. We gave three options. Consensus. Where there is no consensus because, if you are more than two or three and you cannot agree to one candidate, you go to the next level. “The next level is the stakeholders’ delegates (system) and you have to be supervised by the National Working Committee of the party, national election committee of the party. “That shows party supremacy or the freest option. The less cumbersome is to open direct primary, line up and count the number, 1,2,3. If you win, you win and if you fail, go home.’’ Tinubu further explained that an appeal committee was set up by the party to look into grievances arising from the conduct of the party’s primaries. He said the committee, which served as internal mechanism for conflict resolution, had performed its duties diligently “It was there (appeal committee), you cannot turn round against that, and you cannot turn against all of that. “No, Party is supreme; party must be respected, abuses will not do it and anger will not do it. It is party politics, somebody will win and somebody will lose, too bad,’’ he added. It would be recalled that the National Chairman of the APC, Comrade Adams Oshiohmole, had on Oct. 21, in a statement by his press secretary, Mr Simon Ebegbulem, alleged that conservatives within the party are ganging up to pass a vote of no-confidence on him. He said in the statement that his sin was his refusal to allow continued impunity and circumvention of due process being perpetuated in some states. The APC chairman added that he was not surprised by the gang up, as he never had the illusion that the process of reforming the party was going to be an easy one. ABEOKUTA- The Senator Representing Ogun East Senatorial district, Senator Buruji Kashamu-led faction has announced the former Presidential spokesman, Dr Reuben Abati as the running mate of the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ogun State, Leke Shittu, ahead of 2019 elections. Sen. Buruji Kashamu The faction which has been recognized by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the state also named former governor of the state, Otunba Gbenga Daniel as the candidate for Ogun East Senatorial. It would be recalled that the INEC had notified the the PDP of its decision to accept the candidates’ list of the PDP faction backed by Kashamu. The INEC had in a letter addressed to the National Chairman of PDP, Uche Secondus, notified the party of the acceptance of the list submitted by Bayo Dayo’s faction following the Federal High court judgements, directing the umpire to accept the candidates as against that of Sikirullahi Ogundele-led faction which is recognised by the PDD national leadership. In a statement personally signed by Kashamu, a copy of which was made available to newsmen in Abeokuta on Wednesday, by his media aide, Austin Oniyokor faulted the statement credited to the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Kola Ologbondiyan that INEC acted contravening the rule that only the chairman can submit candidates list to INEC. The statement read “The candidates list of the Kashamu backed Bayo Dayo exco of Ogun PDP has been received and fully acknowledged by INEC for the 2019 elections. Prince Leke Shitu and Dr Rueben Abati were duly acknowledged as the Ogun PDP Governorship and Deputy Governorship candidates respectively (acknowledgement receipts attached). Former Ogun state Governor, HE Otunba Gbenga Daniel is for the Senate, Ogun East and all other candidates for the Senatorial, Federal house of Representatives and the State House of Assembly were equally accepted and duly acknowledged. “Any rumours being peddled around by our National Chairman and National Publicity Secretary through a purported press release should be disregarded as the duo are deliberately acting unlawfully and beyond their powers to which they’ve refused wise counsel to tow the path of rule of law. The guarantee of our democracy under established regulations and rule of law is that no party official, no matter how highly placed could use the office for selfish preservation/promotion of his own interests and legacy at the detriment of the interests and legacy of other party members. This resolve to act with unchecked impunity shall be fully resisted in a fight to finish battle to strengthen our party’s internal democracy. “Ignorantly, the National Chairman is unaware that where there is dispute resulting into a judicial resolution as in Ogun state matter, the State Chairman and Secretary could sign in place of National Chairman and Secretary when backed by validly subsisting court judgements. Whatever makes our National Chairman to be this resolute at challenging the constituted electoral regulatory body, INEC and also dwelling in nauseating impunity against Nigerian court judgements out of unexplainable desperation to install Ladi Adebutu as PDP Ogun governorship candidate should as well have forced him to create his own INEC and conduct elections inside his office. The PDP as a Nigerian creation by law is for all Nigerians by established regulations and National statue; nobody can as such intimidate us in our democracy. “All the state elders, leaders and party faithfuls are again enjoined to continue and remain focused on the ongoing aggressive mobilisation and reconciliation efforts for our party,PDP to come out victorious in the forthcoming elections. I’m emboldened by the power and grace of almighty Allah and shall never succumb to injustice. God bless you”, he said . When contacted last night, Abati confirmed his choice as the running mate in the PDP. He said ” Yes, i am aware. i can confirm . It is true”. However, attempt to reach the former governor for his comment was unsuccessful as he could not be reached . https://www.vanguardngr.com/2018/10/kashamus-group-picks-abati-daniel-as-dep-gov-senatorial-candidates-in-ogun/ |

Op lie kii u there. We’re not all gullible. As at 1962, no footballer puts on this kind of short, rather they put on a plain-pant which is very shorter than this |
Anambralstson:My friend tell that to the gullible and not us. Sabmiller first came to the country in 2008 when he bought majority stake in international breweries in Ilesa osun state and later bought standard brewery in Ibadan, subsequently bought Pabod brewery in Port-harcourt. I now wonder how Obi brought sabmiller to the country. I am saying it again “lie kii you there”! |
