I just witnessed something horrible. But first I must touch on something.

So, the videos making the rounds of girls having sex with dogs may seem repulsive to you for a whole different reason. But has anyone considered the fact that these girls and the dog handlers are sexually, physically abusing the dogs?

Such things are usually glossed over in Nigeria: Animal rights. I mean, even human rights is often times neglected so why should anyone care about the animals?

But someone has to speak on their behalf. You can do whatever you want amongst yourselves, but please treat animals with the respect they deserve. It is repulsive, abhorring to see people treating animals like trash just because they can. I've witnessed it on many occasions, and such people aren't designated as "Sick and Twisted" unlike those having sex with dogs for money.

Fact is, if you're abusing animals in any way or form, you are sick and Twisted. Because an animal abuser would sooner rather than later go on to abuse other people. There is a psychological disconnect between the right and wrong warning signs that tells such a person that harming others is bad.

Please, we may be Nigerians but we must not be savages.

Now back to the horrible thing I witnessed. Something, unfortunately, most of you would laugh at.
See, a friend I know breeds rabbits. She posted a video of her repeatedly whacking a rabbit on the head with a broomstick. The rabbit even tried defending itself despite it being grossly unmatched. People were finding it funny. To me, It was infuriating and heart wrenching, but stuff like this happens all the time.

Please I'm going to assume you don't know anything about mental illness. Let me educate you.
Most mental illnesses can be treated (but not cured). That's why we have therapy, drugs, psychiatric hospitals.
Mental illness can only be bad if it's not managed. Once a person manages their illness (taking drugs, therapy, etc) they can easily pass for normal.

The fact that no one in her immediate family has mental illness doesn't mean her own children won't pick it up from a recessive Gene. Besides she might end up with a guy that treated himself to a point that he could pass for normal most times

They stopped me from communicating or seeing her as well...

Not everybody who attacks their partner has a real/medical diagnosable mental disorder. Many are questionable personality traits bt these partners overlook it and think it’s just how they are. It actually a time bomb waiting for the right trigger than anything normal.

Emotional balance and temperament are key markers and culprits in such cases. The good part is they can be helped once they are confronted and given appropriate guidance and direction.

Anger applied wrongly can cause a lot of damage.

The funny thing is drug and alcohol addiction are what leads to violence not mental illness.
