The former governor of the old Kaduna State, Balarabe Musa, has proposed that the south-east region should produce the next president come 2023.

He explained that this was necessary to ensure equity, justice, and fairness among Nigerians and in the interest of the country in general.

Balarabe believes zoning the next presidency to the region will not only give the Igbos a sense of belonging in Nigeria but will also promote national unity and cohesion.

He suggested that when President Muhammad Buhari completes his term in 2023, it should be the turn of the south-east to produce the next president, irrespective of which political party it would come from.

According to the former governor, since the North, South-West and South-South have all had a shot at the presidency, it will be morally wrong if any of the zones contest the presidency in 2023 against the South-East that has not tasted power since the return to democracy in 1999.

He also stated that it would be selfish and unfair for any Northerner to aspire for the presidency after President Buhari completes his eight-year tenure.

Balarabe, however, decried that despite staying in power for too long, the North has remained the most underdeveloped region in the country.

He, therefore, urged political parties to consider picking their presidential candidates from the south-east in 2023.

The former governor warned that ruling the region out of presidency is capable of causing political unrest in the country.

Nigerian Government Will Take Care Of You, Osinbajo Promises ‘Repentant’ Boko Haram Terrorists.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has assured ‘repentant’ Boko Haram terrorists that the Nigerian government will take care of them.Osinbajo told them they will be supported to have a legitimate means of income.

The Vice President said this at the Hajj Camp in Maiduguri on Thursday during his working visit to Borno to launch the MSME Clinic and inaugurate various projects executed by the state government.

How South-East Governors Created Unknown Gunmen Terrorising Region – IPOB

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) says its militant wing, the Eastern Security Network is not responsible for the recent attack launched on the Isu Local Government Area Divisional Headquarters of the police by unknown gunmen.

The separatist group, while exonerating the ESN, stated that officers at the Isu Police Headquarters know those who have attacked them and should go after the offenders.IPOB further alleged that members of the Ebubeagu security outfit, a local vigilante group set up by South-East governors, is responsible for attacks in the region.

IPOB, in a statement issued by its spokesman, Emma Powerful, also warned against tagging members of its militant wing, Eastern Security Network as “Unknown gunmen”.

According to the statement, the ESN and IPOB volunteers stay in the bushes and forests to safeguard Biafran women from Fulani terrorists masquerading as herdsmen.The statement reads: “We, the global movement and family of IPOB ably led by our great leader Mazi Nnamdi KANU wish to reiterate once again to the general public that IPOB volunteers and ESN operatives are not unknown gunmen contrary to allegations by the Nigeria Army, Police and DSS (Department of State Services) agents.

“We have warned Nigerian security agencies to stop linking ESN operatives and IPOB volunteers or members with the hoodlums behind the kidnappings and snatching of cars in the region.

“It is absolutely clear to all and sundry that Nigerian Government and security agencies and their evil politicians created the unknown gunmen in the region particularly in the Imo State because the state government wants to demonise IPOB and our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.We have also, on several occasions explained that our ESN operatives stay in the bushes and forests safeguarding our mothers, wives and sisters who have been victims of rape and killings by Fulani terrorists masquerading as herdsmen.
