TopBanter: Abeg shut up and take your own advice. All the bigoted and hate-driven lies, misinformation, wild fabrication and negative propaganda you lot show up with daily against Tinubu and Yorubas, on social media, show you are the right folks to talk about "emancipate yourself from ethnic and tribal bigotry" ba? Shameless hypocrites.
Judging from your Monika, it's obvious you set it up just for banters
TopBanter: Lol. You've drawn a blank here. Even if what you show is true, how is it synonymous with his ethnic group same as drug dealing, armed robbery, identity theft, extortion, killing, clan cannibalism, various criminal activities and even the evil peddling fake medicine is second nature to Igbos?
Where else in Nigeria did SARS become the organ harvesting evil business empire it did in Anambra under James Nwafor Awkuzu SARS while Obi happily turned the other way?
Look at what Nnamdi Kanu and Ekpa's 'innocent Angels' are unleashing on Igbos today in their own land. Show same going on anywhere in Nigeria.
At least bandits in the North are not pretending to be fighting to liberate the region while actually robbing, raping, killing and eating their fellow Northerners.
You hypocrites should learn to shut up. Nigerians now see through you.
And how is that synonymous with a particular ethnic group, the Igbos
Are you saying that there are no drug dealers in other ethnic groups, are you saying that there are no cannibals, skull miners in other ethnic groups, are you saying that there are no credit card thieves, certificate forgers, identity thieves in other ethnic groups.
Emancipate yourself from ethnic and tribal bigotry and watch your life blossom
In a startling turn of events, Bishop Matthew Kukah, the Roman Catholic Bishop of Sokoto, has expressed strong support for the “Japa” syndrome, urging young Nigerians seeking better opportunities abroad to “feel free to leave” without hesitation.
Delivering a powerful speech at the Veritas University convocation ceremony, Bishop Kukah acknowledged the immense challenges and frustrations motivating young Nigerians to leave the country.
He said, “I encourage young people who want to leave Nigeria to please, feel free to leave. The country is big enough. We can assure you that by the time you settle down in the United States of America or wherever you have gone, you will discover that Nigeria needs you.
“And for those you left behind, our hope and prayer is that they will be competing at the same level with you. We have everything that it takes to turn the corner.”
While acknowledging the brain drain created by “Japa,” Bishop Kukah expressed fervent hope that the right conditions will be established in Nigeria to allow those who remain to thrive and compete favourably with their counterparts abroad. He emphasised the importance of education in achieving this, saying, “We have everything that it takes to turn the corner. Change is not the change we expect from politicians. It is the change that will come with a big intellectual understanding of the complex nature of this country. So every graduate who walks out of the portals of Veritas will be truly equipped mentally and intellectually to conquer Nigeria.”
Addressing the graduates directly, Bishop Kukah urged them to remain focused and contribute positively to their communities.
He reminded them of their alma mater and encouraged them to stay connected and support the institution’s growth, stating, “Do not forget your alma mater because you are standing on the shoulders of those who have gone before you. Do not forget the sacrifices you have made.”
Turning to the educators shaping the next generation, Bishop Kukah acknowledged their sacrifices and the vital role they play.
He dismissed the notion that teachers’ rewards are solely in heaven, highlighting their importance in the here and now.
He shared a personal anecdote, recounting how a pilot delayed a flight to Sokoto to wait for him, revealing that he had recommended the pilot for his job a decade ago.
He said, “Miraculously, the plane continued to wait and when I got to the aircraft, the pilot was waiting at the foot of the plane. I tried to take my seat and he knelt to greet me. I was quite embarrassed because I had never seen this gentleman in my life. But he said, ‘Well, Bishop, I have to kneel and greet you because you are the one who recommended me over 10 years ago for the job as a pilot’.”
Congratulating the university’s management and staff, Bishop Kukah praised Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ichoku Hyacinth’s leadership and commended the university’s progress. He urged regulatory bodies to expand opportunities for institutions like Veritas University, allowing them to contribute more significantly to the education of Nigerian citizens.
Finally, Bishop Kukah addressed parents and guardians, acknowledging their sacrifices and the increasing role of internally generated revenue in university operations.
He expressed gratitude for their support and assured them of the council’s dedication to Veritas University’s continued development. He concluded by urging everyone to contribute to the university’s expansion, highlighting its potential to advance knowledge and education in Nigeria.
After ignoring PREMIUM TIMES' request for his academic records for two months, Atiku reacted by pouring invective on the newspaper within a few hours of publishing the report of his non-disclosure on Saturday.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, on Saturday, resorted to pouring invective on PREMIUM TIMES over the newspaper’s request for his academic records and subsquent report on his failure to release them.
Atiku, through his media aide, Paul Ibe, reacted in a statement only few hours after the story was published on Saturday.
The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the last election had ignored this newspaper’s request for over two months.
PREMIUM TIMES first made the request in a letter dated 3 October, and when he did not respond after seven weeks, sent a reminder to him on 13 November. His media adviser, Mr Ibe, assured of a prompt response, making PREMIUM TIMES to wait further for almost four weeks before publishing Saturday’s report.
For the period after this newspaper sent the reminder, Mr Ibe and his principal made no comment on the issue until Saturday when they baselessly accused the newspaper of a witch-hunt.
PREMIUM TIMES reported on Saturday his refusal to release his records as requested.
The report contrasted his attitude with his dogged pursuit of the academic records of President Bola Tinubu to as far as the United States a few months ago.
Atiku, claiming to be driven by his commitment to public probity and accountability, sent lawyers to the U.S. to have a court to compel the Chicago State University to release Mr Tinubu’s academic records.
Our report also drew parallels between Atiku’s attitude and former U.S. President Donald Trump’s prevarication, dodging the requests by UK Guardian newspaper for his birth records as he had earlier demanded of his predecessor, then President Barack Obama.
Reacting to PREMIUM TIMES report on Saturday, Atiku said the newspaper had no right to conduct an enquiry into his records which he said was neither controversial nor shrouded in secrecy.
Atiku, instead of responding to why he had failed to provide the documents, accused the newspaper of mischief and unprofessionalism.
He also claimed that the story was “fictional”.
“Without adherence to any known ethics of journalism, the Premium Times newspaper went into its mill to publish a story that is neither controversial nor shrouded in a cover-up,” Mr Ibe, wrote in a statement sent to PREMIUM TIMES Saturday.
Atiku claimed that all the documents requested were in the public and that the newspaper should instead request them from the electoral commission, INEC, and the institutions where he claimed to have graduated from.
“Atiku is an alumnus of both Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and the Anglia Ruskin University in the United Kingdom. Premium Times did not place an order for Atiku’s academic records with these reputable institutions, nor did Atiku stop the school or go to court to ask any of these schools not to release his records. Premium Times is also at liberty to write to the West African Examination Council (WAEC) demanding for a copy of the former Vice President’s certificate and transcript.”
Against expectation that he would want to prove that the PREMIUM TIMES’ request was baseless, Atiku did not accompany his statement with the requested documents on Saturday.
He baselessly accused the newspaper of protecting the interest of the Tinubu administration.
He said: “The ethics of journalism seeks to establish the truth when there is a dispute about it or when there is a deliberate cover-up that inhibits public interest.
“What the Premium Times has done in this case keeps faith in neither of these two precepts. The story in reference by Premium Times is nothing other than witch-hunt – and a callous one at that.
“Were the publishers of the Premium Times stable interested in the truth, it would have been more honourable for them to start their busybody foray into politicians’ academic records by interrogating the discoveries from the Chicago State University. They certainly refrained from that engagement for the obvious reason that a parent owner of the newspaper occupies a critical seat in the current government.
“And, then, we ask the question: What manner of a newspaper sets out to protect the interest of a government but is very willing to embark on a wild goose chase on a private citizen?”
PREMIUM TIMES challenges Atiku to name ‘parent owner’ in govt.
Meanwhile, PREMIUM TIMES has challenged Atiku to name its “parent owner” he claimed to be serving in the President Tinubu administration.
“Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar should be bold enough to name the person he claimed to be a parent owner of our newspaper that occupies a critical seat in the current government. We dare him to name the person,” the Editor-in-Chief of PREMIUM TIMES, Musikilu Mojeed, said in reaction to Atiku’s baseless claim on Saturday.
“It is unfortunate that at his level, he can make an allegation of this nature publicly without any proof whatsoever. Much more is expected from people aspiring to lead a country like Nigeria.”
This year, the former Vice President sent his lawyers to the United States to legally force Chicago State University (CSU) to release the academic records of President Tinubu, whose election he disputed but lost in court.
Larryndelaw: So why do you drag Sanwo Olu to everything that happens In LAGOS
Because it has been proven beyond reasonable doubt that Tinubu and Sanwo-olu are in charge of Agberos, Thugs hoodlums and bandits wrecking havock in Lagos state
Validated: Our new governor. Except they kill him like they did to Funsho William's, God forbid, Asue Ighodalo is the next governor of Edo State. We do not elect agberos and druggies in Edo and Delta as they do in other suffersticated regions.
In suffersticated region, to be elected, you must first be a Notorious narcotics drug trafficker, a certificate forger, credit card thief etc
