The Nigerian Navy Ship Beecroft, on Thursday, paraded 11 stowaways apprehended onboard a Guangzhou Highway Panama vessel heading to Ghana.

The stowaways said they thought the vessel was going to Europe and decided to follow it out of the country in search of greener pastures.

Lieutenant Commander Ayobami Tunde-Alli, standing in for the Commander of NNS Beecroft, Commodore Kolawole Oguntuga, while speaking to journalists said the stowaways were arrested by the NNS Beecroft patrol team on Tuesday around 7pm.


Handing them over to the Nigerian Immigration Service in Apapa on Thursday, Tunde-Alli said said, “In a display of exceptional vigilance, the Nigerian Navy Ship Beecroft patrol team, while on routine patrol, successfully intercepted and apprehended some individuals on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, around 7pm at obscured spaces of the stern gate onboard Guangzhou Highway Panama, which was en route Ghana.

“Accordingly, Western Regional Control Centre was immediately informed and prompted the vessel to halt within Lagos anchorage.

“Initially, four stowaways were apprehended from the stern of the vessel. However, information provided by these individuals revealed the presence of additional stowaways inside the ship.”

Tinubu is borrowing. Because like most Nigerian leaders since independence, the basis of our revenue has always been selling raw materials...since 1970's it has been oil money.

When oil proces fall, we borrow to stay afloat. When oil prices rise, we pay off our debts, and borrow to fill the hole they leave.

Tinubu is borrowing, because the alternatives means he would not get elected again. Nigerian leaders, including our current one take the decisions that get them elected, not the ones that get our economy running well.

The people I have problem are the so called south south that believed and still believing the lies of yorubas and the northerners.
They claimed that the reason for the Biafran war was because igbos want to take over the oil, the big question is what is behavior of the yorubas and the northerners towards the oil and people of the Niger delta after the civil war, after winning the war did you allow the people you claimed you liberated have control over the oil, the answer is no, instead the yorubas took over and dominated all the oil companies while the northerners took over the state owned corporation and went as far as sharing the oil fields among themselves.
Even as of today, ordinary pipeline surveillance contract they have been managing have been taken away from them.
