However again, unlike christianity, Islam does not make too much pretences about what it is all about. It is a religion, a genuine religion because Mohammed, a genuine historical figure, set out clearly to create a new religion.

Jesus, on the other hand, who has nnever been proven to be a genuine historical figure, had no such ambition ofcreating a religion, according to his life story.

So Islam is less of a contrived religion than christianity.

The Koran is open and every moslem is encouraged to read it in its original language. There are no mysteries or ambiguities about who wrote them, when and for whom it was written?.

There are no chosen people syndrome, no resurrection and no get-out of jail card to absolve one from personal responsibilities.
In Islam each person carries his own salvation. No saviour, no infinite debt that mankind owes to god.

In other words,in the eyes of an atheists, there are much less to mock, much less fraud in the name of god, but much more rigid and much more dangerous to human freedom and dignity.

I'm bringing this up cos of the recent ruckus caused by seun's law that forbade castigating muslims or islam, although the law was later abolished, but it got me thinking, freethinkers on nairaland are of the habit of writing demeaning things about christians and christianity (myself included) but I've never for once seen muskeeto, ooman, plaethon, wiegraf, or the rest of the musketeers write any negative thing about islam or muslims, is'nt this the practice of double standard among atheists?

In this present era the world is in, It's rare to hear of christians killing people in the name of jesus, but almost everyday we hear of muslims killing people in the name of allah, but atheists do not go about condemning these evil acts, but they go about telling.
