Just the other day I met a christ embassy member, a young man, not more than 25, he claimed to have prayed for people who had unequal leg length and the legs became equal, I asked him for prove and he told me that I should go to christ embassy to confirm,

I stared at this young man with so much awe, not awe of admiration, but awe of "what d hell", I asked him why does God allow evil things happen, and he replied me and said that, God is not willing to do anything for anybody, cos he has given us all the power to do whatever we want and it shall come to pass,

the point I'm trying to make is that many Nigerians have shut out completely their ability to reason rationally.

well I honestly don't think so, the concept of being grateful to God is a very tricky subject, cos if you're thanking God for sending rain to water your crops, you should also acknowledge that it's the same God that allows hurricanes and tsunamis to kill and devastate people.

Imagine a coffin maker thanking God for making his business boom everyday, or thanking God for bringing him more customers, that's where the personal God idea is flawed, I believe there is no personal God that helps cure your headache or provides a multimillion dollar contract for you, things happen because they happen, wiegraf should be better equipped to discuss this, I believe the anthrophic principle would enlighten u more on this subject. There's a saying that when rain falls it falls on both the good and bad people, that's just life.

well as an individual I have done my best to help kids with various illnesses, I have a foundation here in Nigeria where we provide drugs and free medical treatment for little kids, although it's just starting but at least I know I love children more than the christian God,

that's a good question, and that brings up another question, is hell fire a physical place or a spiritual place? that is if it exists,

Prov. 15:24 states "The way of life is above to the wise,that he may depart from hell beneath."
When you substitute hell for grave ,you will know ,for sure, that it is "hell" being refered to in that passage.

Isiah 5:14 - There4 hell hath enlarged herself,and opened her mouth without measure :and their glory.......shall descend into it."
Grave cannot be said to have been enlarged, since it is d same measurement for everyone.

Those 2 passages tells us that hell is mentioned in the old testament.

The reason God created hell was for Satan and the falling angels. God will also take " the unbelievers,the whoremongers,& sorcerers,d idolaters and all liars to hell for failing to repent from their wickedness.

I chose to disagree my dear, the hell mentioned specifically in those passages was not a lake of fire but rather the jewish sheoul which is grave, but due to translatory errors by d composers of the english bible they substituted the word sheoul for grave instead, and it was a deliberate ploy to mislead many christians into believing sheoul to be a lake of fire, what's even the correlation between sheoul and lake of fire sef?

Which creator are we talking about here Yahweh?

I was reading muskeeto's thread about robert ingersoll's reasons for being an atheist, and then he mentioned something that struck me, it was about how in the old testament the christian God metted out punishments for sin instantaneously, but how in the new testament he changed, and he started giving grace to sinners to repent and that the ones who failed to repent will be cast into the lake of fire,

What's baffling to me is that in the old testament, there was no hell fire or even any mention of it, only hades or sheoul was mentioned and those words mean grave and underworld respectively, so if there was no hell fire then when was it created? Why was it created? What is the purpose for it? And what led to the christian God conceiving a place of unending torment? I leave this to the house.
