Have you ever used these?

Yes = Not Indomie
No = Indomie

Can you compare these to what is used now? Yes I used them. I even used to have two radios one plays instrumental and the other I put on record and make my own songs. Now let's compare.... Back then someone with my rap and rnb skills does it for fun and only his friends will listen to it and can't really pursue a career in music. Non indomie

These days download a software on your computer and make instrumental and record your own songs and you can even record a video with a phone and download on YouTube. Indomie generation.

Which one is better?

shadeyinka:

Nice words! You are correct! The non-indomie generation destroyed the last of the good days before the "Indomie" generation came forth. The Indomie generation hence does not have any reference to when Nigeria was good.

Unfortunately, the term "Indomie Generation" is used mainly by those who grew up at the tail end of the peak of Nigeria's prosperity. The far much older non-indomie generation would never call you "Indomie generation": they would rather call you children.

Those who call you Indomie generation didn't spoil your world but they were privileged to see, partake but not influence they system. In their life span, they saw things collapse to an unbelievable state. Those who call you Indomie generation are the bridge between the Old Nigeria and the New Nigeria. They were the transition generation who experienced both worlds.

Those who destroyed Nigeria are too old to call you INDOMIE. And it isn't your fault anyway: it's only that many Indomie Generation speak with no reference to standards.
Very correct.

Alot of the privileged people from the pre indomie generation left the country for education and exposure but by the time they were/are ready to return back things weren't/isn't how they left it hence difficulties in settling down thereby forcing them to return abroad.

What happened to the so-called aje-butters? They are all scattered around the world. A lot of them sold their inheritance to buy houses abroad and live abroad. Naturally people want better lives for their kids compared to what they had. Imagine growing up in a society where you don't have to worry so much about your kid's safety, education was sound irrespective of its government school or public owned. Health care was manageable but now you will spend arm and leg on hospital bills and still not get healed. The list goes on.

We can all play a blame game I. E we blame the generation before us then the generation after us will blame us but the generation post the present one will not blame this present generation but ours and consequent ones.

I saw a good society in Nigeria to the extent that when I first travelled to England I wasn't moved because it wasn't so special well it depends on what part of Nigeria one lives in as for me I lived in city centre lagos with all the modern amenities of that time as attained in any society in the world so I'm pained when I look back and compare. I don't want to even bring my children to visit Nigeria because there isn't anything for them to do or partake in unlike back in the day the family clubs were functioning, we went to Apapa amusement Park which was world standard, Bar beach was a blue sea not the dirt it is now, Mr biggs,UTC, leventis, domino etc now we have blooming shoprite and spar and they are extortionate.

That Nigeria that a lot of children lived in with their American and British passports, some not even knowing they are born abroad, that Nigeria that we had mixed raced children in our schools because pre 1984 Nigerians abroad always moved back home. That Nigeria is dead and all the natural, superficial and spiritual powers does not have the power of resurrection so there is no resurrection for Nigeria let's just take it out of the morgue and Bury it.

This generation forgive us for our inactions

Indomie generation is not the right term to use for these post cheated generation. Instead of criticism I would suggest we hide our faces. What you don't know won't hurt you.

I have read comments on here by people of my generation (cheated generation) and I feel so hurt that even though we witnessed a different society that was more conducive to what we have now we can still come on here without shame of not doing anything to stop things from getting so bad.

I knew about indomie in 1992 when the company came to our school for promo and it was advertised as a snack not a meal. So if we now have a society that indomie can be seen as food then we the pre indomie generations should hide in shame and that goes to anyone that is between the age of 40-60.

Nigeria could have been a better place if we stood up against a lot of things in the past. The systematic breakdown of a people has taken its course on this generation (wasted generation). This so-called indomie generation were meant to take the batton from our generation (cheated generation) and take our dear country to greater heights in technology, health and social care, architecture, industrialisation e.t.c.

I give kudos to this so-called indomie generation for staying strong and surviving a very harsh economy.

Naira Marley is a Peckham boy, he never at any point claim to be posh.

Listen to his lyrics and understand it before you judge him based on his appearance and habits.

This guy will master his style and be a pain to the powers that be because he will be more vocal.

Forget the use of F-word he was pissed off.

Asking for money before going on a date can be seen as prostitution or escorting. Well everyone with their own but to face reality, you too must meet up with this criteria to be eligible for the 2 million naira date without being shallow I.e looks aside because you don't look good without make up.

You must be educated outside Nigeria to at least master degrees
You must have an American, British or eu passport so need to be applying for visa
You must not have kids why pay to date a baby mother
You must have grown up in VI, Ikoyi not Lekki because Lekki was a swamp in my Lagos
You must be understood when speaking to an English man
You must not have Bleached your skin

I can go on and on but hey, you see some of us ain't on your level and we aren't proud. The well to do cheated generation are humble so blinded women can't see through them de there na yahoo boy or old man go come your way not a well groomed man.

Put 8 monkeys in a room. In the middle of the room is a ladder, leading to a bunch of bananas hanging from a hook on the ceiling. Each time a monkey tries to climb the ladder, all the monkeys are sprayed with ice water, which makes them miserable.

Soon enough, whenever a monkey attempts to climb the ladder, all of the other monkeys, not wanting to be sprayed on, set upon him and beat him up. Soon, none of the eight monkeys ever attempts to climb the ladder.

One of the original monkeys is then removed, and a new monkey is put in the room. Seeing the bananas and the ladder, he wonders why none of the other monkeys are doing the obvious. But undaunted, he immediately begins to climb the ladder.

All the other monkeys fall upon him and beat him silly and he has no idea why. However, he no longer attempts to climb the ladder.

A second original monkey is removed and replaced. The newcomer again attempts to climb the ladder, but all the other monkeys hammer the crap out of him. This includes the previous new monkey,

who, grateful that he’s not on the receiving end this time, participates in the beating because all the other monkeys are doing it. However, he has no idea why he’s attacking the new monkey. One by one, all the original monkeys are replaced.

Eight new monkeys are now in the room. None of them have ever been sprayed by ice water. None of them attempt to climb the ladder. All of them will enthusiastically beat up any new monkey who tries, without having any idea why.

This story is not been presented right. The police need better PR.
If someone storms out of anywhere with a cutlass or weapon and begins smashing cars to the point where he smashes a whole parking lot of cars, he will be gunned down ANYWHERE in the world by ANY police force. I have witnessed many of such examples in the US. You are told to put the weapon down at least once, if you dont obey ESPECIALLY if you are moving towards another human or destroying property, you will be shot.
And policemen are trained to shoot in the middle of the body to neutralize a suspect, not the legs. The legs are hard to hit.

He has a weapon and is a danger to everyone including himself.

The question is how did he get a weapon in the police station?
Was he mentally ill or on drugs?

Why was he arrested in the first place?

Is this story true?

My condolences to the human race and his family on the violent unfortunate death of another human.
Very correct... He is/was a danger to people.

The police must have cautioned him before shooting him but he probably refused to yield considering the number of cars damaged.

Nigerian police is still unprofessional for not shooting him when he smashed the first windscreen and even from when he picked up the axe.

This guy is not a yahoo boy. He probably licked shots in the UK but not fraud. If you lived in the UK you will know what fraudsters look like. He was a hood boy partaking in whatever the working class stubborn boys were doing.
Its common for a 28 years old man to have 4 kids by 2 women in the UK but in naija Na big thing .
He probably mentioned his kids because most hood boys stop doing anything that will get them in trouble the moment they have kids that's probably why he mentioned it.

I have met naira Marley in my town in the UK in a show I sponsored for one of my youngers and you can tell he is just a normal guy doing what normal people does. Intact that's how I knew he sang issa goal.

Travel / Re: Should I Move To The UK Or Return To Nigeria? by bolayei: 4:00am On May 14, 2019
abnot:

I must appreciate the poster's sincerity as opposed to how majority of Nigerians resident in first world nations present the west. I don't think the poster has the wrong mindset. He is at a stage in life where tough decisions need to be made and he is trying to be careful. It is only on nairaland that I consistently hear/read of Nigerians doing well in the west. Majority of Africans are struggling in the west. I also struggled during my college days in east coast USA despite getting a generous allowance from home. Nigerians are also struggling back home in Nigeria. In UK where I lived for 2 years + the story is the same. I don't know much about the poster's academic and social background but I'll suggest he reflects on his strengths and weaknesses in both spheres and make a decision based on that. The west can be attractive when young and at your prime but as you age your priorities and interests get to change and some begin to miss the African life.

Op digest the fact quoted. I have tried moving to nigeria several times from the time of obasanjo to Jonathan. I almost stayed but ten buhari won the election at that time naira to pounds was 250/1 but when buhari won it became 500/1. My target for a start was at least 500k a month which was 2k pounds. I could sort my immediate responsibility out which was support for my kids born abroad with that but then te fluctuations in exchange rate made it impossible.

You are 25 years old, don't feel bigger than your boots remember you are black in a white man's country its natural to be tribal/racial so minorities will always come last. You don't have the mindset of missing Africa yet but your returning to nigeria is based on not getting your dream job.

Like someone advised you, don't marry that UK girl because there will be cultural differences even though she is of Nigerian origin. If you really don't want to work below your qualification because by the time you move to the UK and you ain't getting that dream job in six month she will pressurise you to get any job and women here need the man to pay half the bills, so you can't be out of work.

Do the manual job and keep applying for jobs and try to mingle with the Germans not just chill with black people. The locals will open doors for you and most whites are not racist once they feel comfortable around you.

My advice will be experience the western life some more in Germany and don't forget to socialise. Keep looking for your ideal job but make sure you are able to live. To live half the way you live now in Nigeria you have to be making at least 1m monthly guaranteed and have enough cash saved since the economy is unpredictable.
