Absolutely useless, l once recommended that Nigeria should be auctioned on e-bay and sold off to willing buyers across the globe and some delinquents on nairaland came talking trash to me, l asked them, tell me one single thing you are enjoying in that hell of a country or tell me what you are proud of as a citizen of the so called country and they where foaming in their mouth, once you flash Nigerian passport anywhere in the point of entry in the world, the border officials are at attention because the name Nigeria is synonymous with corruption, fraud and scams, infact, in some airports, they deliberately single you out once they see the useless Nigerian passport, it is better to be a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th class citizen in a sane country where you have equal opportunity to become whatever you want, your rights are protected & guaranteed, than be a Nigerian living in Nigeria suffering and smiling till you drop dead in the name of useless patriotism, just watch out, some posters will come after me and you for calling Nigeria a useless country
Lol. The one thing Nigerians don't like hearing is that they are phucked and need to change. Whenever i meet a Nigerian who still has the same old school mentality, i either avoid him or i just nod my head whenever he's talking because you can never change them. All they care about is amassing dollars so that they can go and build a house in that shiiit hole. Why would any sane person want to build a house in that rubbish country? This is why my second home is Ghana.

It is no excuse to approve jungle justice. Of course the first human instinct is to want revenge but you cannot substitute that with a lawful means of solving anything. Falling prey to our base instincts will only result in the kind of society Nigeria has evolved into. A beastly, maniacal society where anything goes and where might is for some reason always right.
I had to re post my earlier comment. Most animals can't read and comprehend properly. Make una continue. Don't worry. Nigeria will be great with people who have your kind of mentality in it. Guaranteed.

Hahaha, l have no regret for leaving the country as well, all the bulsh...it about no place like home is meaningless to me, home is a place where you have rest , peace of mind and make satisfactory progress and that can be anywhere not necessarily your country of origin / birth , l only feel for family members and siblings l left behind, be that as it may. When l read that news today, l was like, what kind of country is this, 6.9 Million Dollars is enough to provide employment to 100,000 graduates in any part of Nigeria and that money is in the account of a useless thief and the masses are hailing her, well, Nigeria deserves the kind of leaders they get, let them be celebrating thieves who have stolen all their wealth and that of their unborn children wink
What a useless country.

Exactly, l dont do party politics, l dont support PDP , APC or whatever useless names they are called , l will prefer an Elephant to rule the country and bring good governance than all these criminals & vampires we have in Nigeria, did you read the news today that Patience Jonathan was told by the court to go and collect her 5.9 Million Dollars, at black market rate that is 5.9 x 400 = 2 Billion, 360 Million Naira and that is the one we know , just tell me what she did other than been the wife of the president to accumulate that kind of money, that is to tell you that the political class do not believe in fixing the country but rather to steal & accumulate ill gotten wealth, now multiply what the fat vampire called Patience Jonathan has + the 43 Million Dollars found at ikoyi + the 9.8 Million stolen by the ex NNPC MD + all the the other millions of dollars in the hands of different political appointees , which will be enough to do something tangible in the country but it is in the hands of few wicked monsters, what a country angry
Guy, this is why i said a populace deserves the leadership they have. Right here on NL i asked the same question you have just posed. How did an illiterate buffoon aqcuire such wealth considering that she does not have any skill or intelligence that we know of? I was shut down by her ignorant and mentally disturbed supporters. Obama with all his brilliance and knowledge left the white house with seven million dollars and based on his tax returns everyone could see where and how he made his money. Where o' where did that deplorable woman get that kind of money from? Thank God i don't have to live among those animals ever again.

Do you really think citizens elect their leaders in a free and fair election in Nigeria?....l doubt, what we have in Nigeria is a flawed system where money, rub my back l rub yours, violence, rigging, corruption, bribery is put in place to subvert the electioneering process & the will of the people, it will be difficult for the political space to throw up good candidates to freely compete for positions in Nigeria because you cannot bring a lamb to compete successfully with Tigers, Lions , pythons in the jungle and be their leader, that lamb will be killed by any of those animals, that is the situation in Nigeria, what we have is fraudulent selections and not elections.
Yes i believe that they are elected in a free and fair election. Why? You yourself have said it. The amount of praise different useless leaders have on this forum alone shows that these leaders have support in one form or another. If universally all of the so called leaders are castigated i would say that the elections are rigged but that is not the case.

nicely said, you are this calm bout the whole scenario cuz u r no longer in the system, and yes only bloodshed will JumpStart this country, but who wanna lead? revolution is alien to an average Nigerian,we are now so selfish we don't give a hoot about our next neighbour, no collective goals,no unity,no love no basic wants, we developed our adaptive nature as humans to the maximum, hence we catch whatever they dish out to us,silently mumbling and grumbling our displeasure, and sadly its gonna stay this way for a very long time.
You've just said the truth. Sad as it is. I couldn't take the insanity anymore with is why i left and i would advice you to do so as well. Legally though. It's going to get very very bad.

Spot on, l doubt if things will ever change without a forceful reaction from the populace, l have heard about the same story since l was born before l also vamoosed and left that hell of a country, you cant do the same thing all the time and expect a better result, if a drastic change has to evolve in Nigeria, it must go with the way you put it because we have wicked leaders who have taken the country for granted and only a drastic revolution will cleanse the land of all the bastards who have crippled the country, and yet we see different posters celebrating the same wicked leaders that has held them in darkness for long, read through Nairaland , once a crime is committed , people respond based on where the man comes from, instead of standing in unison to condemn evil we bring ethnic coloration to it. What a country sad
You have just hit the head on the nail. Or is it the other way around. Anyway, i digress. From the bold comment you made, one can come to the conclusion that Nigeria's problem is not it's leader but it's citizens. Leaders will not exist without the support of the citizenry. Citizen elect their leaders and sustain them with their support. The citizenry is the life blood of leaders and without their support the die of. The citizens of any country, good or bad, deserve whatever leadership they have.

yes you are right, but what happens when the law is an ass?? that system is not working in this country, hence the societies backup of lynching, which of course is barbaric but what can they do huh?? hand em over to a corrupt, rotting police force/judiciary?? nah ion think so......
magabounce:
Only because "to a large extent" the trust that justice would take its course!! We don't even trust ourselves here, talk more of the extremely corrupt police
Agreed. But just because the agency responsible for maintaining law and order is non existent does not mean you should destroy yourselves because that is exactly what you are doing. Nigerians do not understand the power of the individual citizen. No one wants to take responsibility (including me which is why i bounced out of that zoo) for the change that they want. To effect any change involves forcefulness. The only way to change the way Nigeria is at the moment will have to involve bloodshed. There is no way to avoid it. Nigeria is too corrupt for normal diplomacy in order to effect change. It has to happen. If not, it will always be like this and much much worse.

And did i not say the first instinct would be to seek revenge? It is the normal reaction. But, that does not mean you must act on it. It is because Nigeria is not a functioning society which is why you are talking like that. Go to the U.S, Germany, France, etc, and lynch a person who committed a crime and see if you will not spend the rest of your days in jail. They understand that they cannot allow their society to disintegrate into the kind of society Nigeria has become. An unsafe, insane, bloodthirsty society.

Was this in your agreement?

Hearing so many stories like this about this same institution makes one assume that there could be some kind of binding agreement parents sign whenever they enrol their wards.

If that is so, such agreements would have to be respected.

If it stipulates that students should carry around pocket bibles and submit themselves for pregnancy tests before exams...

Well, as they say in the streets, "Agreement is Agreement"

Sanchez01:
I believe my present situation won't come to many as new. Problem is, I have never experience such as this before and it is quite hard as to what technique and approach to adopt in tackling this issue. I would be going into details so that my plight can be clearly understood.

Just recently, two tenants moved into a newly built semi detached apartment in my compound, a room and parlour self contain, precisely. The one closest to my apartment is occupied by a young, single guy, most likely a transport company driver, while the other apartment is inhabited by a family of about five (5). Both folks moved in in January.

The problem
The said young guy does not seem to understand serenity. His music can be so loud that one could feel his heart beat to the baseline of the songs coming from his sound system. Annoyingly, he is not in any way restricted by time as he would max the volume of his sound system, lock his door and go out while his nose slowly sniff life out of everyone around. This has been going on for the past three months now and it is really taking its toll on me. I was at the hospital recently for a medical check up due to sleepless nights and lack of sleep on weekends.

I tend to shy away from trouble at the slightest opportunity. I'm also careful not to hurt anyone in any way. I once walked to his apartment to tell him about the noise but it hasn't done much really. The landlord lives within the compound too but rarely stays home.

Other tenants have started complaining about the noise but no one has done a thing about it. I have thought about several things I could do to get his attention but I'm not sure how they would leave him after I follow through:

1. I thought about inviting the landlord into this, but I fear it might be extreme as it would look like I have something against him other than this.
2. Take the legal route by asking the police to invite him for disturbance of public peace.
3. Plead and ask for a meeting with other tenants while we address this.

I'm at a loss here as I don't want to go to war with anyone.
If this were in Germany, the guy would be in jail. But, since we are talking about Nigeria, do what Nigerians do best; drag him outside, call him a thief and set him on fire. cool
