grin I don’t have to snap school fees receipt for you. This arguement isn’t worth it

I never said anything about school fees. School fees are about 800k. The coco are the tuition fees and boarding.

You see how you people spread false information. I’m a graduate of covenant fam (2016 set)

Our school fees as at 2016 was max 700k+( engineering and architecture are the most expensive). That sum is for a year, including accommodation, medical fees, books, tuition, internet etc.

NGN 700k = approximately $2000 at today’s exchange rate.

Stop spreading fallacies.
A lot of people there are average Nigerians. Our parents just wanted to give us something of value. Don’t get it twisted.

There are wealthy people there and there are regular people.

Ok. let's break it down. How much were your tuition fees and how much were your school fees?

Once again I want to debunk this claim. It is a LIE!!!

The school is self-sustaining

Yes it is. It sustains itself with $40,490 per session.

Is it just poor people that attend the church?
Don’t the rich pay tithe too?
If you take 10% of 10,000 and 10,000,000 are they the same in financial value?
When the school started, do you think they had everything they have now?
That school has been building gradually.
Just add the fees to the revenue generated from the cafeteria, shopping centers, bakery, bottling company etc.

If you think it’s tithes that’s sustaining that school, you’re on a long thing

You don't seem to understand. Why would tithes sustain the school when the school fees as at 2016 was $40,000? I am sure every average home in Nigeria can afford that.

It is never the reason why people are poor. Teach us how to make money and not how fully grown responsible adults should use or spend or not spend their hard earned money. for me, it is crazy. No church ever forced or force people to pay. THOSE WHO DONT PAY ARE NO BETTER THAN THOSE WHO PAY. So what are we ranting about. Put this energy you use to talk on tithe into teaching people how to make money or face the ills of the leaders. it is not the church that should create job and fix roads. No matter how you avoid it, you cant serve God tightening your fist. Look up your bible. Make your research and let us know if there is anyone who once paid tithe and stop that has better story to tell. The poor don't pay tithe, take it or leave it. Let people use their hard earned money the way they like.

Let me shock you. I actually did that here on this forum. I tried to teach a religious nutjob how he can invest 25 dollars a month for 5 years and in 20 years he would have millions of naira to retire on. You know what he did? He laughed. He told me that only an imaginary being called god can make anyone successful and rich. I don't think you understand the danger you people are to the world. And my life changed for the better the day i stopped believing in some imaginary god.

Please, what is your definition of rich?

Majority of the students there are from average homes

I want whatever you are smoking. It must be some good shiit. A total price for education at covenant university in 2015-2016 is $40,490. Tuition makes $30,440, room is $9,170 and covenant university fees make 880$. How does an average home in Nigeria afford this? How?

Is it your donation??

I was not referring to the students. I know i have to break it down like i would to a toddler. Ok. Here we go. Who's money were used to make covenant happen with their s.tupid belief in tithes. The insanely poor made it happen. And now the comfortable one's enjoy the benefit.

My hard earned car kwa? Abeg ,tell that coward that many are dying in benue. Tithe isnt our problem ,the government is. He should stop hitting soft targets if he claims to be freedom fighter. Let him talk to Brother Buhari,Obj sef has started writing letters

It is not about her or if it's her car or not. If it were only her no problem, but we are talking about more than half the population believing that giving a pastor/fraudster your possessions makes sense. Do you know how dangerous that is? A society is only allowed a certain percentage of s.tupidity. When the number of s.tupid people outnumber that of the sane ones, then that country is phucked. That is the problem in Nigeria. The number of insane, corrupt people outnumber that of the people who are normal. That is why the world looks at Nigeria as a corrupt nation. Obviously not everyone is corrupt but because of the ratio they look at everyone as corrupt. You think in the US people don't believe that giving their pastors their hard earned income is the right thing to do? But the number of people who think like that is significantly small compared to people who think with their heads on right. The normal ones help balance the equation. So whatever social and and economic damage these lunatics cause, the sane ones help repair.

FXCM wouldn't dare do it to someone residing in the US. It is always a good idea though to save ones account statement monthly just in case.

And who placed Nigeria in the position of a 4th world country? You speak as though some of the world's renowned evangelist aren't from America.

How did you come about the your statistics (more than half)?
.
Lol. To be successful, "All one needs to understand is Maths, Statistics and probability, and it's applications and you're good to go..." Really? When the environment isn't quite favourable and people are struggling to maintain their business.
.
In US, where it seems you are, you MAY simply understand Maths, statistics and probability and it's applications and you're good to go, but the environment is not the same here.

Hence the reason Nigerians need to focus on math and it's applications and less on religion .

You shouldn't say with absolute assertion that God or the belief of Him therein is a belief in mere fantasy. I completely oppose that.

But it is. The bible is based on common sense. The 10 commandments points to that. Everything else is pure fiction. More than half of people who are christians, especially in 4th world countries like Nigeria believe not because of some salvation but for the promise of wealth and success. Meanwhile, to be successful is easy as phuck. All one needs is to understand math, statistics, probability and it's applications and you are good to go.

Let me chip in; but abortion is illegal (the only exception is when the pregnancy poses threat to the mother). And this is largely influenced by religion in Ireland.
.
Now you've just brought a case of homosexuality; hope you know there are homosexuals who claim to be Christians also? Even though I see it as the peak of contradiction.
In the Rep. of Ireland you mentioned; believe me, a lot of people are opposed to homosexuality. Homophobia isn't strictly a Nigerian thing. There are religious homophobes as well as irreligious homophobes, both in Nigeria and everywhere else.

At the bolded; Hence the reason why i say religion is a problem. Why anyone would believe in fantasy is beyond me. Everyone interpretes it the way it suits them.

Read the whole post you quoted. But let me repeat. People are getting more desperate due to hardship.

I don't know when you were born but it has always been like this. The early 80's was even worse than this when we used to queue for bread, milk and omo which trucks would bring and soldiers would distribute to the masses. So, blaming Buhari for Nigeria's woes today is nonsensical. Most of Fela's songs were released in the 70's. Go and listen to it. In fact let me paste a link now. You would think he released them yesterday. If Nigeria just suddenly became bad under Buhari, why was Fela singing about it 40 years ago?

That is one of the related problems Buhari caused. If things are a bit okay, such desperations wouldn't have been necessary. People are going extra miles to survive.

How exactly did Buhari cause this?

What is the guarantee that taking away religion can lead to 50% of the world's problems being solved.

Ireland for example is a European country with about 78% professing a particular faith. Only 10% identifies with no religion. Assessing this country, would you say they are faced with problems which are directly (or indirectly) related to religion?

In my opinion, the problem isn't religion, but religious extremism. It is in extremism you find people blaming every problem on religion, it is in extremism you see the manifestations of Jihad.

Homosexuality is legal in ireland. What would a christian in Nigeria think about that? I'm pretty sure they'd say all Irish people will go to hell. Nigerians would definitely go to war over it. You see my point?

Nigeria's problem is multifaceted. From the very foundation, I'd say illiteracy. That is the foundation of our problem.
Another problem is tribalism, nepotism, and religious extremism. Mind you, not religion but religious extremism of some sects.

Believing that some god can come down to help anyone do what they can do for themselves is the basis of greed, laziness and insanity. Does anyone need to be told that it is wrong to be tribalistic and not to be part of nepotism? etc? No. But if you ask a religious person, they'll tell you it is the devils work in the minds of people. Life is fraught with daily challenges and a lot of people do not know how to tackle these challenges. All of Nigeria's problems are self inflicted and instead of taking personal responsibility and learning from it, they rather blame the "devil". And they keep blaming the "devil" thereby denying themselves the opportunity to develop resilience and also learning from whatever life lessons life is trying to teach them. Take away religion and 50 percent of the world's problem is solved.

A bit of digression...
Did you vote in the last election? Will you vote in the next?

If your answers to both questions are NO. Then what moral right do you have to accuse citizens who partake in the voting process.

I voted and Obama won. Let me ask you a question. What in your opinion is the problem in Nigeria?
Religion / Re: What Does The Bible Call People Who Sleep With Sex Dolls? by Bollinger(m): 2:00pm On Jan 28, 2018

Wouldn't that be a fallacious statement?

No. The problem in Nigeria is not only it's leaders. The citizenry contribute to 90 percent of it. We have people vigorously rooting for dino malaye, fayose, Buhari, etc as leaders to look up to. These people would not be there if not for the support of the citizenry. And the ones who don't support them will support anyone who gives them gala and lipton or rice and garri.

I won't lie, EURNZD shocked the hell outta me on friday. Lost 600 buck on it. I probably will stop opening new trades on fridays. It as if traders put everything on black on those days and distabilize normal patterns. The highlighted should not have happened in regards the completion of it's pattern. I know it is the wrong thing to say since price is always right but i just have to wonder. I will be opening a sell on the pair at market open with a tight SL above the high.
