magoo10:No, the funds wasn't share to States that had ecological issues. It was rather shared to states that were friendly to Jonathan. But if you insist I'll like you to tell me what ecological problems those states had in 2013. I believe you don't fully understand what Ecological Fund is all about. I'm advising you go read the 1981 Act. About the bailouts and Paris Club, you need to petition your state Governor so he can give account. FGN have little or no power to query state finances. I'm sorry to break it to you but nobody shared Nigeria Sovereign Wealth Fund what was shared is the ECA. That issue has been settled. If the custodian of the fund is stealing it behind the shareholders, are you suggesting they should keep watching the custodian as he steals all the funds? Somethings are just indefensible. |
magoo10:So? Does that negate the fact that the other 17 States, totally not in good relationship with Jonathan administration, were denied their own share? The fact still remains that some states were denied what was rightfully and constitutionally theirs without any reasonable reasons other than politics. |
Mtbail:He was appointed by the Central, NEC to be precise, to head the 11-man Ad-hoc committee on management of Ecological Fund. And now the committee just deliver their interim report. Did you even read the article? And in case you don't know National Executive Council (NEC) includes all the 36 State Governors, CBN and others. So what's wrong with what El-Rufai did or say? |
garrimallam:APC is NOT doing what Jonathan did. Out of 36 States, 19 did not get N2b back in 2013 because Jonathan refused to give them. Now APC is giving those States what was denied them them in 2013. That's righting the wrong done, not doing something wrong. Please always try to understand a situation properly before passing judgement. |
magoo10:Actually it is true. Let States that received the N2b back then come out and deny it. And why would Rivers, Ekiti, and Akwa Ibom which are PDP States be among the 19 States to be given their own share? To bribe them? |
naijaboy756:I don't need to because you already know about that and how Buhari was fair to all irrespective of party affiliation. But in case you don't, go do little research and come back, then we can do logical comparison if you want. |
MaziOmenuko:Of course I omitted that part where you said Ecological Fund was NOT meant to be shared by 36 States because you were wrong. I left it so you could correct yourself. Unfortunately, you didn't. Anyway, FYI, Ecological Fund was essentially created to ensure that adequate provisions are made to address the serious ecological and environmental problems facing the nation be it flood, coastal soil erosion, desertification, drought and general pollution issues. Every single state in Nigeria is prone to these problems. Again, there are funds to be shared as against your assumption. The revised sharing formula is FGN - 1%, States - 0.72% and LGAs - .60%. So, you're still either playing politics or you're innocently ignorant of the essence of the Ecological Fund as established by Federation Account Act 1981. Go check it out. |
ephi123:The right logical response is: Is the allegation true or false? This isn't a blame game, rather righting the wrong of the past committed by a President who politicized every aspect of governance. By the way, Akwa Ibom, Ekiti and Rivers, all PDP States, will also benefit. Everything shouldn't be about politics. |
MaziOmenuko:Did you just conveniently omitted the part in the article that said: "Any PDP state that was not his friend like Kano and Kwara didn’t get it." Or was it an innocent oversight? Jigawa State Governor, Lamido was at war with Jonathan. Rivers State Governor, Amaechi was at war with Jonathan. Kwara State Governor, Ahmed and his puppet master, Saraki were at war with Jonathan. They automatically didn't qualified for the N2b largesse even though they were back then PDP States. You can add Niger and Kano to that bolded list of yours. Same logic applies. |
Ezedon:Sorry to disappoint you but it was built long before APC won Osun. So go ask your PDP how they build a seldom used pedestrian bridge that couldn't hold for 20 years. |
dragonking2:Yeah, good question. I wondered why Obasanjo, Yar'adua and Jonathan didn't prosecute President Buhari between 1999 and 2015. Oh, wait, I know now, because he is innocent. Duh! And if these guys had set EFCC after him it would have amounted to 'persecution' as you rightly said. And that would have been subjugation by unjust use of their power and authority, which is illegal and dictatorial. |
factsandfigures:There was no Segun Adesina at that Press briefing. However there was Femi Adesina. Also, speak for yourself you don't represent the voters that voted in Buhari 2 years ago so don't generalize your own personal feelings and perception. Again, you're not exactly a perfect representative of the Nigerian people. If you're disappointed there are millions who aren't. From to the North to the South every single day politicians and non politicians are dropping their umbrellas and picking up brooms. And you think APC will not win in 2019. Try and understand Nigerian political landscape well. Finally, the loud voice of the minority doesn't mean the majority has no voice. If you think Nigerians are united by hunger you don't really know the number of millionaires this government has created in the last 2 years through a single sector. You don't have an idea of how many people have been pulled up the social and economic scale through a single sector. What sector am I talking about? Agriculture of course. Go to the North. Come to the Southwest and do your research about farmers who've hit it big within the last 2 years. So, the lesson here is don't generalize. Your feelings and what your feelers picked within your circle is NOT a representative of the whole country. |
ednut1:Not you, of course. People and organizations with enough information, intelligence, and money are investing and will continue to invest. Keep your money, Nigeria doesn't need it. Better still, go invest in Zimbabwe. Nigeria needs serious investors, not kids with piggy banks. |
ivandragon:Never a good idea to expose your ignorance. How difficult is it to spot the difference between this child and the Chibok Girls? Let me help you: This is a child sent on a suicide mission strapped with IED. She chicken out or maybe she got epiphany. She disobey her orders. She was then arrested (keyword: arrested). She was presented as a suspect (keyword: suspect) not as a rescued abductee. Big difference. Simple logic. Commonsense. |
PapaBrowne:See this one. Lol. Anything 'Presidency' starts from the Office of The President. Anything restricted to VP is addressed as 'Office of the Vice President'. Spot the difference. But keep trying o y'all still can't put a wedge between these two gentlemen. The bond between them is too strong, it's infrangible. |
Some many dumb and insensitive comments. Anyway, to those insisting the whole Chibok Girls abduction is a scam I pray you or a member of your family will be a subject of such scam. Don't get peeved. It is after all a good prayer since the girls look 'healthy', they've had presidential handshake, they've been to Aso Rock, FGN is taking care of them and the world is following up on them. They are now 'celebrities' of sort. So you should gladly donate yourself or member of your family for such scam. You will profit from it. To those still questioning why the girls are still been taking care of, well, maybe if you've been kidnapped or raped before you will understand the formidability of psychological and physical trauma. I once watched on Nigerian TV where a victim of kidnapping was interviewed. He's a grown-up man, with wife and kids, and he said he's still in shock and under trauma that whenever someone is coming up behind him he's always at extreme alertness and suspicious of all strangers. That's months after gaining his freedom. How long was he kidnapped? 7 days. A week. Now think of these schools girls kidnapped for 3 years. And if you still insist it is a scam how can you intelligently explain the Stockholm Syndrome some of the girls are exhibiting as a result of the abduction? If their captors aren't taking good care of them why would some of these girls develop positive feelings towards their captors and feel allied to their causes? It's irrational. It's a paradox. Yet it's real. It happens, 8% of the time. Put politics and hatred aside and rejoice with these girls, their families, the Chibok community, Nigerians and the world for having our girls back. |
dancewith:Once you've been kidnapped for 3 years you will understand exactly what psychological trauma is all about and how long it takes to get healed of it. |
82 kidnapped Chibok Girls were released by Boko Haram in exchange for some Boko Haram operatives arrested by Nigerian government. The negotiations involved the Military, DSS, Government of Switzerland and the International Committee of the Red Cross. This was a good news to the families of these girls, the Chibok community, Nigerians and the world, well except the sadistic and unpatriotic wailers who still won't see any good thing about Nigeria. These facinorous and unreformable souls believed it was wrong to exchange 82 schoolgirls who had been traumatized by 3 years of captivity for few Boko Haram operatives who would either be killed or recaptured sooner or later. But let's educate these lost souls a little bit since having a druggy like Femi Fani-Kayode and a tout like Ayodele Fayose as role models and mentors is a liability on their noesis. They don't know, so it's our duty to let them know. 1. On 25 June 2006, Gilad Shalit, a Corporal in IDF's Armor Corps, was captured by Hamas. On 18 October 2011, he was released in exchange for 1,027 Palestinian prisoners. Among these 1,027 were 280 on life sentences for terror attacks and Hamas claimed these prisoners were collectively responsible for the killings of 569 Israeli civilians. 2. Robert Bowdrie "Bowe " Bergdahl, a Sergeant in the US Army, was captured by Taliban-aligned 'Haqqani Network' in Afghanistan in June 2009. He was released in May 31 2014, in exchange for 5 Taliban members held in Guantanamo Bay without trials. These 5 were high-ranking members of Taliban government were considered as 'high' risk to United States. The Taliban Five or Taliban Dream Team were described as the "hardest of the hard-core". 3. Elhanan Tannenbaum, a reserve Colonel in IDF, was captured by Hezbollah in October 2000. In January 2004, with the help of Germany mediation, he was released along with the bodies of 3 Isreali soldiers killed during an ambush along Isreali-Lebanese border in exchange for 435 prisoners held by Isreali government. Among these released prisoners were terrorists claimed to have killed 231 Isrealis. In fact, Isreal is reported to have released over 7,000 Palestinian fighters in exchange for just 19 Isreali citizens and about 8 bodies of killed citizens. Since prisoners exchange is NOT a new thing in war, so what's the hoo-ha from some quarters about? And if you still think the Chibok Girls abduction is a scam ask Reno Omokri to explain to you what Goodluck Jonathan was doing between May and October, 2014 on the issue of the abduction. Could the leader of 180 million people with all the aides, information and intelligences at his disposal be scammed? When something great happen in the country, celebrate. Stop sulking and smarting from the 2015 defeat of your "Ineffectual Buffoon" hero. It's 2 years ago, get a life and move on. cc: Lalasticlala

emmanuelpopson:With your vast knowledge of Ajaokuta and the Steel Industry, I'm surprised you're not on the board of the company or even the Sole Administrator. |
TooNoisy:I'm sorry but you really need to learn to read to comprehend. The article said 500,000 jobs both upstream and downstream. If you don't know what that means google it up. In addition, the article also specifically said the company will directly employ 10,000 technical staff. I'm hoping you understand what 'direct'. Nigerian youths need to learn to read, relax digest, read again and plan an inferential contribution. Don't just jump into topics you don't even completely understand. |
ephi123:Lol. Thank you, but that doesn't dispute the fact I posted. |
ephi123:I can't hold Buhari accountable for this. He's just been there in about 24 months. None of those foreign countries you use as references built what they have in 24 months. However, if you're talking about the leaders we had in the last 16 years then I agree we need to hold them accountable. But not Buhari, at least not on the issue of lack of world class hospital in Nigeria. |
ephi123:This is where you got it wrong. If using other country's facilities will save his life and he has the privilege to use it, then there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. The death of the President have more consequences on the economy of the country than the death of another citizen. Harsh, but that's the truth. So everything, and I mean everything will be done to preserve his or her life. That's leadership. Meanwhile don't confuse eating Ikorodu coconut instead of that imported from Bahamas with medical treatment. Big difference my dear. Consuming Made in Nigeria doesn't mean the President should unnecessarily risk his good health and life. Big difference. |
ephi123:Yes don't blame Buhari for that. And in a way you're right you can blame Nigerians that consistently kept voting the most corrupt party in the history of Nigeria for 16 years. Meanwhile, you really don't understand the difference between rights and privileges. Yes every Nigerians have same inalienable rights to good health care for example, but we don't all have same privileges. You will be living in a fool's paradise if you think you have same privileges and entitlements as the President of a country. No my dear it is not obtainable anywhere in the world. Go to the more developed nations, do you think the President visit same hospital as the rest of the citizens? That's the power of privileges. Even the rich and the poor don't visit same hospitals. Again, privileges (provided by wealth). The President have planes at his disposal to travel anywhere. Do every citizen in the country have such planes at our disposal? No. Again privileges. The President of any nation moves around with stern-looking armed guards. Do you or I have such guards when we go out? No. Again privileges. The rich may be able to afford guards, but the poor can't. Again, privileges (provided by wealth). Again in all nations of the world, the No 1 citizens of those countries have privileges the rest of the citizens don't and can't have. It's NORMAL. |
TonyeBarcanista:Do you have to link every little pettifoggery in APC to Asiwaju Tinubu? And y'all PDP lots will claim you're not infatuated with Tinubu. You guys refused to acknowledge his enormous contributions to the ousting of Jonathan but now you're wishing he join your clan so you could win 2019. Save us the whirlwind and make up your mind already on the importance of Jagaban in Nigerian politics. |
ephi123:That's the hypocrisy I was talking about. Do Nigeria have the hospital that befits a President? No. Is it a shame on Nigeria? Yes. Does President Buhari have to pay with his life to prove a point? Of course not. If we don't have a befitting presidential hospital, the standard he could get else, does President have to refuse to go there to get well? No, expect you have myopic thinking process. Refusing to go for the best available treatment is NOT patriotism but stupidity. As the President of a nation, agreeing to go to substandard hospital and risking your life is not dignity but stupidity. So let's not confuse patriotism with stupidity. Let's build a world class health care system and hospitals first, so that when our leaders still opt for medical tourism we can talk about patriotism and dignity, until then there is absolutely nothing wrong in the President, the No 1 citizen of Nigeria going anywhere in the world to have the best available medical treatment. And don't blame President Buhari for lack of such world class hospital, he's just been there for 24 months. |
ephi123:No, normal practice everywhere is for the No 1 citizens to have privileges other citizens don't and can't have. Why are citizens ready to take the bullets for the President? The title. The office. The privilege. No 1 citizens are NEVER same with other citizens, don't fool yourself. Yes, same inalienable rights but NOT same privileges. Why is the US taxpayers paying for Donald Trump security and protection as he goes to his own Club at Mar-a-Lago every weekend to play golf when Camp David the usual US President country retreat is there? Privilege. Do you think if Trump or Theresa May or Angel Merkel or Putin is sick these leaders will be attended to at the same usual hospital every other citizens go to? Of course not. These are leaders. They will get the best doctors, the most equipped hospital and the best facilities. The question now is do we have in Nigeria the same standard of hospital that Trump will go in the US? No we don't. Do we have in Nigeria same standard of hospital Putin will be treated in if his sick in Russia? No we don't. Is it President Buhari's fault that we don't have such standard of hospital in Nigeria? Of course not because he had only ruled for 2 years and you can't have such standard of hospital befitting a President developed within just 2 years. Let's not be myopic and hypocritical about this. If for 16 years the past administrations couldn't develop a world class hospital in Nigeria befitting a President, don't blame President Buhari's for that. You know who to blame. |
wizzyrich:Actually, that title of 'President' entitled him to privileges, treatment and opportunities you and I don't have access to. These things comes with the title. We may have same rights with him but let's not fool ourselves, we don't have same privileges. It's normal practice everywhere in the world. |
wizzyrich:Duh! He's the President. He's very different from you and I. You don't get to live where he lives. You don't get the security he gets. You don't have access to information he has. You don't get to make decisions he makes daily. You don't get to have respect and awe he gets. So, yes, he is a Nigerian but he is more than an average Nigerian. He's the Leader and every leader gets to be treated differently. Even the common Men of God are treated with respect and awe far above the congregation that made them who they are. It's normal. it's the same in every country, leaders are treated differently from the lead. So yes, President Buhari doesn't have to be treated here like every Nigerians. Don't be so myopic and hypocritical. |
They begged him to be free? Lol. |
Macgabe:I would have ignore your comment but I'm giving you the benefit of doubt that you don't understand my question to you. So, let me break it down to you: You claimed that Nigerian indigenous manufacturer of Tomato Paste can't satisfy the demand in Nigeria. So, I asked you: 1. what is the value of the aggregate demand for Tomato Paste in the country? 2. What is the sum of the capacities of Dangote, Erisco, Sonia and other indigenous manufacturers? 3. What's the value of the shortfall that made you to conclude that Nigerian manufacturers can't meet Nigerians demand for Tomato Paste? They are simple questions you could easily answer as you claimed to be knowledgeable. Enlighten me please. That's not too much to ask, or is it? |
SalamRushdie:Do you know that Nigeria is 14th largest producer of tomatoes in the world and the largest in Sub-Sahara Africa? Do you even know that out of the 1.5 million tonnes of fresh tomatoes Nigerian farmers produce annually 900,000 tonnes is lost to rot? Do you know that Dangote Tomato Factory in Kano alone can produce 430,000 tonnes of Tomato paste annually? Add Erisco. Add Sonia. Add others I don't even know about. Don't be all about glooms and disasters. Be hopeful, after all this only mean Nigeria is moving towards self-sufficiency in tomato paste as we are moving in rice and wheat. |
When a group of individual fails, they look for excuses and beat around the Bush. Mr Governor pls face ur business n leave the Central alone.
