Foreign Affairs › Sanders-linked US Group Blasts Nato’s ‘imperialist Expansion’ by bonechamberlain(op): 4:38pm On Feb 28, 2022 |
In a statement released on Saturday, the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) blamed actions by the US and NATO for having helped to spark the Russian invasion of Ukraine, sparking condemnation from other Democrats. “DSA reaffirms our call for the US to withdraw from NATO and to end the imperialist expansionism that set the stage for this conflict,” the group said in a press release. “While the failures of neoliberal order are clear to everyone, the ruling class is trying to build a new world, through a dystopic transition grounded in militarism, imperialism, and war. Socialists have a duty to build an alternative,” DSA added, ending their statement by declaring “no war but class war.” Condemning “Russia’s invasion of Ukraine” and calling for “immediate diplomacy and de-escalation to resolve this crisis,” DSA warned the working classes “will undoubtedly bear the brunt of this war.” DSA is the largest socialist organization in the United States, with over 92,000 members, including high-profile Democratic congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and former presidential candidate Senator Bernie Sanders. With chapters in all 50 states, it has previously endorsed Democratic presidential candidates Barack Obama and John Kerry, notably choosing not to endorse current President Joe Biden. The DSA’s position faced immediate condemnation from other Democrats from different wings of the party, who sought to reaffirm their commitment to America’s current alliances. The DSA’s position faced immediate condemnation from fellow Democrats from the main party, who sought to reaffirm their commitment to America’s current alliances. The White House Rapid Response Director, Mike Gwin, swiftly responded with a one-word statement, describing DSA's remarks as "shameful," calling on the group to re-evaluate why it "referred to the deaths of dozens of Ukrainians seeking democracy and basic freedoms in 2014 as a ‘coup’." Military veteran and current congressional candidate Max Rose stated that he was “deeply concerned” by DSA’s statement, adding that it’s “time to double down on our alliances” and “punish Russia with crippling and unprecedented sanctions.” Responding to Rose’s remarks, Tom Suozzi, a Democratic candidate for Governor of New York, declared “I adamantly oppose the DSA's statement calling on the US to leave NATO.” https://www.rt.com/news/550837-democratic-socialists-nato-expansion-ukraine/

soundOsonic: To those that don't have sense.
French president married his high school teacher.everybody was saying awww. Nobody talked if he was groomed by the teacher, but since this is a man, look at how evil your mind is. So much double standard in this world. I started teaching secondary school when I was on 200 I.T and I was 18. The students were surprisedly 15-16 mostly and others were 17 and a particular guy was 19. The age Gap was barely 3-4 years. Now if in the future I meet one of them and I decided to have a relationship with one does that make me a pedophile? Or even if I decided to woo a 16 years old girl at 18 does that make me a pedophile with just 2years different? You people can't think that's your problem. Pedophilia is an adult attracted to a child. An adult is someone who is 22 years upward. 18 years, 19 years are still teenagers even 20 they are still developing they are (adolescent). 18 is the legal age for adult, some country it is 16,17. Scientifically you become an adult fully at 25 Think. This man is not older than this lady by 5 years. This is nigeria you don't need bsc to teach in secondary school. Please have sense for once. Nigerians reason so myopically and one sided. What's bad of he married his students. Men marry ladies they are older than by10, 12years etc. But we see it as normal because the man didn't teach them forgetting just like you said a teacher can be 3-4 years older than his student |

prophetfire: . I am not recommending that at all. Freedom has a price but those not willing to pay it tow the easy way out and that's what African leaders are doing, even the people. African people are not serious. If we Africans are serious, it's we that would galvanise into leadership, men and women that would lead us into prominence and freedom. But Africans don't have long term dreams and goals. Selfisness and self-centered behavior is the bane. hmmm very unfortunate, it's well. |

bepositive11: Russia did intervene in the Trump and Clinton election. If not for Russia, Trump wouldn't have won
What makes you think that journalists that oppose Russia are funded by US? You think those people will risk their lives like that for money? They do so because they are passionate about their own views
US is not a saint, I know. But at least, they support democracy. How many Russia supporters on Nairaland dream of going to Russia instead of the West? hmmm your first paragraph that's what the MSM wants you to hear. Nobody expected Trump to win, so instead of democrats accepting their failure they look for the usual scapegoat Russia, to blame. America interferes in elections world wide including Nigeria, but shout about interference when it involves them. There should be no double standards, that's my point. |

prophetfire: . The same issue of the world not being a level playing field. The ones that are ahead do everything to stop others from coming up to the same level with them. If you try, they use everything to suppress you.
African leaders that tried in the past to be masters of themselves are set up and killed by the neo-colonial powers that are ripping their countries off. Look at Ghadaffi that was galvanizing African leaders into being their own masters. Look at Thomas Sankara,Patrice Lumumba etc. So what happens? Other tow the line of safety and preservation, saying life first or if you can't beat them, join them to at least enjoy small.
Gorbachev was deceived into perestroika and Glasnots and it's that mistake that Putin and Russia is suffering from and wants to correct. However I feel it's too late for him to achieve that. America on its part is using that advantage to close in on him by taking his neighbors and former allies into NATO to finally dominate him totally.
See the way the whole world have gathered under US to decimate Russia's economy. It's not easy to overthrow those powers that run the world, so everyone takes the easy way out. so you are saying in essence African leaders should continues to be on their kneels. If the Europeans had this mindset, only God knows how the world would be today. Even Otto Von Bismarck once stated that the great questions of time would not be settled by speeches or resolutions but by iron and blood. Freedom takes time and lives, but it's far better than servitude. |

Propaganda as usual.
Israel is bombing Syria daily, for association with Iran. no one is shouting Syria is an independent country they can associate with whomever.
And you want a powerful country with history and pedigree to allow it's enemy reside permanently close to it's borders.
Russia might be bad economically die to sanctiy, but Russia would never allow Ukraine join NATO. The world would rather end because Ukraine joining NATO means Russia is gone. America and Europe are aware of this fact, but they are trying to profit from the war and at the same time slow down Russia's economy |

(1)stop the effect of the sanction?
(2)is he the only dude with nuclear weapons?
Let's not deceive ourselves.Putin won't try that coz he knows what it means to use nuclear.Upon that you can't use nuclear weapon against a country that sanction you economically. It woun't be justifiable. We're looking at him.He can make use of nuclear against Canada, France, Germamany, U.K, U.S and others let's see how it goes. JFK threatened to use nukes during the Cuban missile crisis if Russia doesn't remove their missiles in Cuba. Now you are threatening the economy of a nation which is even more provocative then just installing missiles. What is good for America is good for Russia. |

2000yearsago: That is a lie from the pit of hell. You have been brainwashed, You are highly sentimental, If those countries where not mature in their dealings, the whole world would be in Armageddon right now. The maturity this countries is the reason many of your brothers have been residing there for decades and even hold political offices. Does it happens in Russia and those other countries you so much love and enslaved your interest in them. Assuming you are a deep thinker, you will realise that there was a 9/11 before US and its allies went out to hunt for heads they believe have hands on it using reasons they could lay their hands on. I am surprised a deep thinker like you believes that before 9/11, the world was peaceful, the US wasn't bombing places to smithens. Saudi Arabia was fingered as a major culprit in 9/11 what was done to them. Bombing and killing people who don't want your democracy is what you call maturity. Imposing your beliefs, ways of life etc on others by force is maturity. The world almost experienced nuclear war under JFK, in 1962 when Russia installed a ballistic missile in Cuba. JFK threetened to use nukes if Russia doesn't remove those missiles, the same thing US is doing in Ukraine. And people are shouting Ukraine is an independent country. Pls think independently don't allow the MSM to think for you. Read and make research. |

prophetfire: . It's not as if Russia or Putin is a good guy. All of them are the same, working for their selfish interest. However, people feel that it's better to be serving US and their NATO allies than have a Russia or China or Iran dominated world. That's the reason why the other devil seems to be getting people's support. The US made these guys, China, Russia and co what they are because trust me if they soft pedal a little they would be over runned. If the world is a level playing ground for all. China, Iran, Russia even N.korea wouldn't act the way they act. But of cause the world cannot be a level playing ground because of the nature of man. The 2nd world war gave the US so much leverage and power especially over Europe and that advantage is what they have been using till today. for countries like Russia who loves ther independence you can't win US using democracy because they have mastered it perfectly. But why do people prefer to serve either US or Russia, can't they be ther own master's. |

I would've loved to watch those Russia channels if there were no history of journalist killings to get their own view, but I know that they are showing only what Putin wants the world to see. What's the difference between that and brainwashing or gaslighting?
What is the real issue between Russia and Ukraine btw? Isn't it that Russia doesn't want Ukraine to join NATO because they'll set up army base on the border between Russia and Ukraine? But Ukraine wants democracy and independence from Russia dou you know how many people the US government and CIA has or attempted to kill for going against them, please make a research on that. Good, voice of reason is gradually prevailing.
African leaders are the most senseless humans on earth. This war is an avenue to express their displeasure to the west about their inglorious role in destabilising the region by removing Ghadafi. Yet this same leaders are siding with the west against Russia, probably because of neocolonial aids.
Buhari the dullard has wailed and complained thousands of times that the crisis in Nigeria was fueled by the senseless ouster of Ghadafi. Yet he joins other useless leaders in condemning Russia siding with US who removed Ghafi for just hating him, thereby causing total chaos in West Africa and its neighbouring regions
What most people fail to realise is that if Russia fails the world would be almost uni polar, entirely in the hands of the US and its lackeys. More Libya scenarios would happen, US and NATO would have a carteblanch to change any leader they don't like, install puppets in countries close to ther neighbours and cause crisis anywhere they feel like. |

America and its allies are trying all means to escalate this conflict they want war, that's why no western media are reporting about the talks to be held in Belarus, instead CNN and co are hammering on Belarus joining the war. I hope Zelensky starts using his head.
Russia has an objective and are sticking to it, if it was a total destruction of Ukraine, the war would have ended in 2days.
Now the Russians have created a safe passage for Ukrainians in Kiev to leave the city before the final assault.
If Zelensky likes let him destroy his country. |
