Elai147:

@ihedioramma, CRR is the amount of money that banks have to keep with CBN as cash. CBN has increased it from 12% to 50% because there is too much liquidity in the banking industry. For example, if a bank’s deposit is N100 the bank will have to hold N50 with CBN as cash and will only be able to use the remaining N50 for investments and lending. So generally it means banks will have less funds available to them and therefore the money in circulation is reduced. This is my layman understanding of it... Someone should correct me if I'm wrong.

i thank you the NL way

stanchuks: Hello Ogas,

I have an issue and would appreciate anyone that must have had same experience
I purchased courtville before the markdown, which means i qualify for its dividend and bonus
I am in the process of changing my broker for reason i would not like to start explaining,
My question is, would i have a problem getting my dividend and bonus, since this stock was bought by my former broker, or do i need to do some documentation to specify that i am still same person from the other broker?

Thanks

oga stanchuks, changing ur stockbroker shouldnt affect u frm getting ur dividend n bonus

Investment / Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Born2beRich1(m): 7:58pm On Aug 18, 2013
question:

Why, please explain?

well boss like oga 9free said, one of the reason is the negative perception of SLS CRR policy in banking sector which we all saw the negative effect it had in the nse this wk...secondly, while i was away, i thought to myself and asked how many banking stock has given investors 100% appreciation and above this yr wen compared to other non banking stock? I believe that am still blaming myself for nt buying some non banking stock that caught my radar this yr and nw has given about 300% appreciation..
Anyways that is just my own coconut way of thinking
Investment / Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Born2beRich1(m): 7:35pm On Aug 18, 2013
9free:
It may not be far from fear of the perceived negative effects of Sanusi's CRR policy on banks profitabilty ratios.

yes boss..this is one of the reason..also imagine having alot in firstbank since ending last year and up till nw no better returns in investment while other sectors are giving wonderful returns.

The thing tire me too. Na wait and see mode I dey now. Just take a look at a penny stock like Champion Breweries being technically tagged as " The Champions of NSE"- the best stock so far in this year... More than 46% gain in 4 days... This was a penny stock that posted a negative PAT for 2012 audited result and even for 2011. Does anyone know exactly what is happening here...?

Champion brewies has made an amazing 270% gain within 3months and 440% with the past one year shocked. no fundamentals, no positive result, nothing good, yet the stock is the champion of this year. undecided

It is as if the stocks without strong fundamentals(Jos, champion, WEMA,FO,etc) are the ones making gains while the ones with strong fundamentals( first bank and co) are still dancing makosa in one spot.

God help us

Hahah. U don see how aiico release good result, nem come enter bid instead of aiico. The market is irrational at times. I no blame person wey talk say na prophecy or juju wey ppl fit take invest in times like this. But are we still expecting div frm aiico abi no div? Nem is grossly undervalued though, but if I comot from aiico, bye bye for insurance.

Sumone actually mention sumtin abt zenith result and crr, the effect of the crr is expected to be seen in the 3rd quarter result as the banks were debited on 8th aug for the first time. So for now, we just invest with care in dt sector.

As for me and my house we have removed our hands from banking stocks till further notice.
