MrPresident1: Yoruba was considered the language of the Benin elite, and was also the palace language until very recently.
Ogidigan's meaning is in Yoruba.
Stop confusing yourself with your jaundiced and infantile knowledge of history.
How come Yoruba was the language of the palace when Oramiyan spent less than 6 months in Benin and never set his eyes on his son Eweka?
Eweka was raised by his mother( a Benin princess) and loyal Benin chiefs with just two or three Yoruba chiefs sent by his Grand father Ekaladerhan aka Oduduwa.
One of the major reason Oramiyan left Edo was the unending civil war and his inabilty to understand the language.
This same Bini kingdom never sent the crown prince nor did the king show up for the Ooni's coronation in Ife.
Yet, over the fact that he's just bored or has a problem with sitting in his palace, he has somehow managed to find his way to Bini just to appear in the news and hang out with Fulani kings.
Meanwhile, Junior but heavy weight kings in Yoruba land like Alaafin & Co were not there. Not even Owo king & Eleko, thrones with Bini influence, were there.
Alaafin was duly represented and his excuses was accepted. Ooni has no reason not to be at the coronation of his cousin. The Late Oba of Benin was with his ancestors when Ooni was coronated if not he would have been there or be duly represented.
Freakypinky: Following a recent faceoff between the duo, Daddy freeze recently posted an old picture of him pecking and Basketmouths wife on Instagram with a comment alleging that her skin tone had changed due to her use of bleaching creams.
This did not go down well with a lot of people including Basketmouths fans so the news about Daddy Freeze getting fired by his boss for being absent from a meeting did not come as a surprise.
So Basketmouth took time out to share this video with his fans while most of them for the idea behind the joke.
989900E: If you want to know how helpless/clueless most Nigerians are, just take a look at all the naive comments on this thread.
Even if she was CEO Shell worldwide for 5 years, she can't afford an $18m house cash, (not even mentioning 'houses' o) 'purely' on salary and earnings. And that is even assuming she does not spend a dime from her total earnings.
Tell her to file her tax papers now.
Go find out what Kachukwu is worth b4 his appointment. Tell Tinubu to file his tax papers. Another miserable ignoramus.
Mynd44: The market women in Bodija market(Ibadan) sweat for those things they wear. They dont have corruption charges on their backs, they were not oil ministers when oil sold for the highest and money started growing wings.
Do not insult Ibadan women, they might sound/look razz but they have honor and pride in not having their names smeared in thievery.
Madam, they wear gold yes, but they also have honor.
She was already a millionaire in US$ before her ministerial appointment. If you had 1% of her CV you would have a better job than banning people on NL.
DonMaxxy: Na lie... SW is peaceful because they no sabi fight...infact they have never fought before...to cut it short; they no fit fight.

Copied: "NEWS The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu, has attacked President Muhammadu Buhari, over his 365 days of economic cluelessness and non performance, adding that integrity alone does not put food on the table of the common man. Tinubu, stated this through the Nation Newspaper Editorial Chairman, Sam Omatseye, in a column titled, “When the bell rings twice” dated Monday, May 30, 2016. He lamented that the poor are getting poorer, with no single kilometre of road tarred, coupled with the ravaging Niger Delta Militants. Tinubu’s outburst came at a time when the Buhari-led federal government is gradually losing popularity amidst excruciating economic downturn. Post-Nigeria had reported that it took the urgent intervention of Tinubu to halt the three days strike embarked upon by the Ayuba Wabba-led faction of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC. The sudden intervention by the ‘Jagaban’ to end the strike without seeking clearance, had angered the presidency, thereby prompting Buhari to quickly call off his proposed visit to Tinubu’s home state, Lagos allegedly. While reacting to Buhari’ s democracy day speech, through Sam Omatseye, the former Lagos State Governor berated Buhari for the myriad of problems confronting the nation. He said: “Not Many thought the first year of Muhammadu Buhari would look like this. The pump price of petrol at 145, the naira at 350 to a dollar, not a single road tarred, the 2016 Budget in baby steps, no minister has received a tranche for work, salary backlogs now a routine, herdsmen as killer squads, Biafra on the rampage, Niger Delta brigands reborn, a Labour strike, the President has only visited one state on official trip, his plane has landed on four continents, the change mantra muted. “Yet, if you go to the streets, there is no rage or less rage or impotent rage, but a sense of paralysis. The average Nigerian, including those who did not vote for Buhari, are not willing to pelt indignation. They feel poor, even poorer. Power that spewed out radiance in the first few months of his administration has returned to its habitual epilepsy. Jobs? Where are they? The welfare scheme and food for students? Not on the cards today”. Explaining the hardship that an average Nigerian is passing through, Tinubu added, “Many cannot pay rents, many squeeze out meals, wards cannot face their principals for lack of fees. “Patience is tested everywhere. Those who are asking for it, are also being asked for it. Yet, Buhari is Teflon, rising somewhat above popular anger. “Much of it, ironically, can be attributed to Buhari himself. The people at the hem are not yet angry with the man at the helm”. The APC chieftain affirmed that Buhari has only turned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, into a vault of revelations. “This man stole that, that smaller man stole that bigger sum. The newspapers became headlines of statistical horror of billions of naira and dollar,” Tinubu mocked. He added: “All the peacock men in the Jonathan era, who suffused us with righteous rhetoric, of brokered ethnicity and marketed shoelessness, have become the fingers of impunity or retreated into priestly or pastoral silences. “Perhaps for the first time since independence, we have an elected president whose finger is not suspected of pecuniary mischief. He might have flown to Asia, Europe and the United States, and slept in the luxury of jets and high-flown hotels. He is not in any suggestion of a narrative of stealing. “We also know that integrity is good, but no matter how good, it will not put food on the table. There lies the moral dilemma of the Buhari era so far”.
The only President of Nigeria who works ceasely without shouting.
A de-tribalised man. A nationalist A(n) humble man The only sitting President whose kids schooled in Nigeria. A listener The most sincere and honest President. The only president of Nigeria that placed more value on Nigerians than crude oil. The only politician who is not greedy for power. What more can I say? A true hero. We are proud of you as you make us proud globally.
mohince: If Buhari visits Ogoniland today and an attempt is made on his life, two things are bound to happen and both leads to only one end. One is to take him out using snipers or whatever and then what? The army will wipe the entire Southeast and South South off the surface of the earth. The army, Air force, Navy and all other security forces will be given a 'shoot at sight order' to keep shelling the entire region until nothing moves again, yes, nothing. The other is to make an attempt on his life and he escapes the assassination plot; either ways, the security agents will still kill everyone and everything. So, who wins? No matter how it plays out, the northerners will immediately commence ethnic Cleansing against the Millions of southerners in the North and the Southerners will also annihilate the Few northerners in the South and a full scale war that is worse than the Biafra or bokoHaram war will begin. Every ethnic group will take up arm against the other and continue to kill one another till the whole country is littered with corpses. Then the international community will wade into the crisis in the name of quelling the fight and take our oil and lands away from us. Then another round of Colonialization will begin in full gear and the few ones that are lucky to be alive will become slaves to the West. Biafra is lost and One Nigeria is also lost. So, who wins? Then 60 years from now, one of the few lucky survivors of the war will author a book with the title: 'There was a country' or 'Buhari's visit to Ogoniland: The beginning of the end of Nigeria'; or something like that. Again, who wins? But after a deep thought, I told myself that Buhari was right to cancel his visit and take the Shame that comes with it. He has clearly demonstrated a rare statesmanship that is worthy of emulation. The Buhari that I know is not worried about his life; he fought in the Biafra war 49 years ago. He is a war General who has seen death on several occasions. He is only concerned about the millions of life that will be wasted because of him as well as the aftermath effect of such bloody situation on the over 170million lives of fellow Nigerians. Thank you baba for saving our lives. You have just earned yourself the title of 'The father of a new Nigeria! Shame on you Wailers! God bless Nigeria God bless President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR!
This article buttresses my earlier stance that there is a bunch of neonates on NL. How could a right thinking adult spew this bunkum!
"The army will wipe out S.S n S.E from the face of the earth" imagine yarns from bobo juice n indomie generation.
If you had educated yourself on the history of Nigeria you'll know it took d whole Nigeria more than 3yrs to defeat a tiny south east with support from d world super powers.
We don't pray for war in Nigeria again, but if it happens there will be no winner. If anything happens to d dullard from daura, Nigeria will not burn!
bluraygraphix: Exactly u said it all, a perfect sentence to describe the binis, am one of them but don't have this trait, that's y I love the yorubas so much since I have lived with them in Lagos, no time for jealousy.... I wish my people can learn from this, they want progress in the state in general, but individually they don't, and I imagine how they can achieve that... Make them dey wait for osho baba or children who are encouraged to endanger their lives into lybia and morocco and turning to fools like those in d video when they get to europe...
Its obvious you haven't stayed in places like Ogun or Osun then you would know that a typical Yoruba person is envious of another tribe although they may pretend to like themselves bt are quick to snitch on each other after eating together.
emmasege: Descendants of Oodua (Oba of Benin inclusive) should visit Arole Oodua (Ooni of Ife) as a mark of respect to their ancestral origin (Ile-Ife). Arole Oodua should note this, please.
Why will the first grandson of Izoduwa and the first Izoduwa descendant to be crowned a king pay homage to a palace attendant favoured by Izoduwa?
Markymac5: Enough is enough...The federal government should do something about this. The yoruba people are either covering up their history or they don't know about it. The re very very inconsistent. They don't even know how the name Yoruba came and even if some of them managed to know the word is from the hausa/fulani, they still don't know the meaning. The yoruba are very tricky. The sultan of sokoto is the only monarchy to be compared to the oba of Benin. It's high time we clear the air. The FG should summon all these yoruba elders and chiefs who call themselves Obas to speak about their origin. We need to know if they are Nigerians or just occupying space here. We re not satisfied by their oduduwa story instead the Benin version sounds so real with consistency, dates and all that, Making it obvious that their own son who the yorubas took as their progenitor brought some of the Benin culture to yoruba land. If the Berebe (as called by the hausas) cannot tell us where Oduduwa came from, that means they re hiding something for sure or they don't know where he came from. Of course oduduwa has parents and he didn't appear when there is nobody in the yoruba land. So let's add all these things up and digest it.
BELIEVE THIS HEN AND COW STORY THEN YOU CAN BELIEVE ANY SHxiT! ARE NIGERIANS SO DAFT AND GULLIBLE? THIS IS A WELL WRITTEN SCRIPT THAT WILL MAKE THOSE NOLLYWOOD STARS GREEN WITH ENVY....
