The article reads that Buhari is in charge of two of agenda - security and corruption ( we know how much he has failed in this regard) and Osibanjo is in charge of the economy. SMH ( how poor our economy has become) . it also mentioned the social intervension program as Osibanjo's effort to reviving the economy. So do the math yourself. This isn't the time to support someone for religious or ethnic sake. forget omoluabi, I wont vote APC in the coming election. Omoluabi or not the economy is harsh enough. Rubbish.

But you did not prove that Atiku is "more than useless". We can't achieve any new party right now. remember that majority of the electorate are not on social media. what they know now is only PDP and APC. for us to achieve a totally new person will take a lot. And that is massive education of our people which we have not achieved and quite a lot more. so don't talk about a new person yet. we will be wasting our time. let's do what is done in some countries alternate power between the most likely till we are educated enough , enlightened enough to get a new person. But please prove that Atiku is more than useless or correct yourself.

The Nigerian political space isn't ripe for candidates outside the two major parties to win a presidential election. You'll be shocked that the artisans, market women in the grassroots in almost all local communities only know Buhari and Atiku as contenders in the forth coming presidential election
This wisdom you have should continue. As I have always said, we will vote out Buhari, give Atiku a chance if he fumbles then we remove him again until Nigeria is ripe for a younger dynamic leader. Atiku is more dynamic, liberal and has better chance of ousting the present mistake government in the polls... I think this is what the USA does every 8years.

why should a patient pay consultation fees to see a doctor, when they could just Google it, right? Doctors like whining about their pay, why didn't they read botany or accounting instead? A patient must pay before treatment so explain to them why doctors are never paid. If you are not paid as a doctor it is not your patients fault. They have paid to see you so treat them with respect and tell them what is wrong. The two minutes a doctor uses to explain will make the patient make better health choices and reduce this alleged workload. Doctors appear to be the cause of their problems, so why do they take it out on innocent people? When you want to build a house, the people doing it will explain it to you on their time. But suddenly to explain to a patient has made doctors too aware of their time. Bloody arrogance.
you are still getting it wrong.write your symptoms put it on Google doctor and get a diagnosis will never take the place of a doctor. It only aids the ease of services. IF you read me very well you will see I admitted the doctor should have told her the cause of the ailment, that's what so many doctors do here in Nigeria (well except some doctors in Lagos state teaching hospitals. I have experienced it too) but she must help herself. Your "doctor appear to be the cause of their problem" shows your level of ignorance and I regret taking time to reply an ignoramus( I didnt see that part on time). Peace with you!!

HealthRe: My Thoughts About Nigeria Medical Doctors. by bornolowu(m): 10:01pm On Aug 31, 2018
MissJoy29:
I just hope this writing will be able to adequately capture my frustration, disappointment & dissatisfaction with the Nigeria Medical Doctors in particular & the Health sector in general.
I also apologise in advance for the long post.

For as long as I can remember, I have always been sceptical about going to hospitals. The attitude of the health workers there are nothing to write home about. Both the private and the public hospitals. Even though I still believe that public hospitals are far better than the private hospitals(especially the average ones) in terms of quality service(although you run the risk of dying before you are attended to due to how slow they are).

There are so many anomalies in our hospitals. I have seen & heard really bizzare stuffs going on. From the nonchalant, impatient and highly unprofessional attitude of the attendants, the unhealthy environment, the cranky and harsh attitude of the nurses, the fact that there's also "who you know mentality" when lives are at stake, the subtle way they bill you unnecessarily by paying for almost everything you do in the hospital(consultation fee, file retrieval fee, unit fee, buying of this & that for your treatment that you will end up leaving for them), the lack of medical equipment, the walking up & down paying for one thing or another at different times(even when you are not fit)instead of paying at once, the number of unqualified & seasoned doctors, the location of a hospital's laboratory on the last floor of a three-storey building(like, who does that!!!!), the high cost of drugs and other medical supplies in the hospital's pharmacy as opposed to their cost outside etc.

But I have a particular area I want to focus on.

THE ATTITUDE OF THE NIGERIAN DOCTOR
This thread was born out of my experiences this week at a teaching hospital. These experiences brought back all the others I have had to push to the back of my mind a long time ago for lack of an appropriate channel to express them. For the purpose of this thread, I'm going to use my experiences at ABSUTH (Abia State Teaching Hospital), LASUTH (Lagos State Teaching Hospital), LUTH (Lagos University Teaching Hospital), National Orthopaedic Hospital Igbobi & few private hospitals as yardsticks to buttress my grievances. I'm also going to put into consideration, the attitude of my close friends who are medical personnels.

Note: I'm not here to compare hospitals. I'm only using them to show that the attitudes of the doctors I met there may actually be same(or at least, almost same) with all of them in the country.

Firstly, if I have met 15 medical doctors, only 1 turned out to be sympathetic and humane. Apart from my family doctors and this sympathetic doctor, I don't think I will ever recognise any of the doctors I have seen again. But after 5 years or so, I still recognised him when I saw him again recently at same hospital(and I have memory problems) Why? He was probably the first doctor I ever saw who actually listened cos they WANT TO not cos they HAVE TO. There's a big difference. Most of them just hear you. They don't listen & they don't allow you talk. That's why they ask you questions based on what THEY THINK you feel & not on what you KNOW you feel.

Secondly, these doctors (except my humane doctor) make it look as if they are doing you a favour when they tell you about your ailment. It's as if they want you to pay consultation fees before they explain in details what you are passing through. What am I saying? One actually told me that! Inasmuch as I think majority of them don't actually know their profession that well, I still wonder why they choose to withhold & hoard information. It's bad enough they don't tell on their own without being asked. But it's even worse they withhold when asked. I have recurring ear ache that comes like every 2 years. This time around I asked the doctor (on the advice of a friend) what the cause of the problem is so I can avoid it. And he opened his mouth & said to me, "get solution first. What do you need the cause for? I was stunned to say the least!
Thirdly, they are always very harsh & impatient. You come in to a doctor's office, 30 seconds later, you are out with a piece of paper filled with their illegible writing just cos they are more concerned with what they are scribbling based on what they THINK you are going through than on what you are actually saying. They are hurrying to see as many patients as possible to collect as much money from them as possible and also to go to their private clinics. So no adequate time allocated to a patient.

Again, because of the attitude of some of these doctors, I'm really not surprised why I detest private hospitals because majorly, they are still the ones that establish it. The main reason why I hardly go to private hospitals is because I don't understand why someone will be, say an E.N.T doctor in a public hospital, but will end up being a GENERAL practitioner in his/her private hospital. They are now automatic Ob/gyn, optometrist, dentists, surgeons, paediatricians etc. I can't count the number of times they have mistreated cases they are supposed to refer to specialists like professionals do.

After venting like this, I'd like to hear from the house. Knowing that people in the medical profession are supposed to be warm, humane, sympathetic, kind, friendly, patient, a listener, polite, knowledgeable, seasoned, capable etc, why then do you think most Nigerian medical doctors are cold, nonchalant, impatient, unkind, harsh, rude, condescending? Is it because that's who they are normally or are there some things in the sector and/or in the training process that turn & change them into the aforementioned? Doctors in the house & non-doctors like me, over to you.
the doctor should have told you the diagnosis and the cause. I wont want to make excuses for him but be informed that the doctor patient ratio in nigeria about 1: 10000 as against 1:400 abroad and WHO standard . That simple means doctors here are skewed to give you this kind of services until nigeria changes. Secondly you are wrong on that specialists should not attend to cases outside their specialty, Every good doctor knows when to refer . Well like amarabae said you know the diagnosis why not google it. Must you be spoonfed. The energy it took you to write this up is enough to learn of the condition and note that is what is done abroad. All patients know their condition. They even know the treatment. Please grow up. You want to be treated like patients are treated abroad ( one doctor to 400 patients yet patients read about their condition before coming) but you don't want to learn basic things about your condition like patients do abroad( despite one doctor to 10000 patients and none payment of salary). And note you can't generalise doctors are the best people I have meant in life . God bless!!!!

HealthRe: Doctor Removes Huge Fibroids, Warns Nigerian Women. Graphic Photos by bornolowu(m): 10:02pm On Aug 23, 2018
MetaPhysical:
When sperm is deposited in a woman's uterus it's design is to fertilize her egg and develop into a foetus that grows in her over a period and is delivered as baby. Undeveloped eggs are eliminated during menstruation, when she ovulates new eggs are produced. There are partially developed eggs that attach to the womb and are not never eliminated out of her body during menses. They never grow and become foetus either. Since the body will not eliminate it through menses and will not grow into baby to be delivered, there needs to be a way to access her body and remove these wastes. They are not hazardous to her health before she reach menopause. After menopause she needs to get them out surgically before they become a health hazard. Someone said up here that the fibroids look like babies. Correct, they are eggs partially germinated long time ago and remained in her, never graduating into full foetus.
Go for mental state assessment. Apart from that all you wrote is untrue(I don't need to request for source) you seem very convinced about it which is a strong indication for a specific type of mental illness. God help you.,

Others were medical doctors who practice, bringing their clinical experience to the table, their teachings exceptional.
In biochemistry sha majority were non medical doctors, some were good while others will just come and rant and go.

Why only women?
The only cancer risk in sex for women is getting infected by HPV virus.
It increases the chance of cervical cancer in women.
HPV is implicated in over 90 percent of case. Also herpes virus. So it causes rather increasing the chances. Cervical cancer is now seen as a sexually transmitted infection, just like HIV and other STD and STI. Sexually active women should get tested@ least once in three years to detect the pre_malignant lesion. And yes sex workers will develop the cancer in time.
HealthRe: All You Need To Know About Breech Birth (Photos) by bornolowu(m): 9:35pm On Jun 25, 2018
Lasunclinics:
Why are some babies breech?

Often, there is no obvious reason why a baby is breech. It may simply be that your baby is most comfortable in this position. Some factors that may influence why a baby might be in breech position are:
labour earlier than 37 weeks

too much or too little of the liquid (amniotic fluid) around the baby in the womb

more than one fetus in the womb

the length of the umbilical cord

the size of the uterus

an irregularly shaped uterus or uterine fibroids (non-cancerous growths on the wall of the uterus)

certain physical abnormalities in the baby.

A breech birth usually does not affect your baby’s long-term health.

How are breech babies delivered?
In some cases, it is common for most breech babies to be delivered through a caesarean section (C-section). With this method, the baby is delivered through incisions made in the mother’s stomach. Today, health-care professionals recommend that in some circumstances, breech babies may be delivered the traditional way, through the vagina. Vaginal childbirth has health benefits for the mother such as a faster recovery and less pain, as well as a better chance of having a vaginal childbirth in the future.

When can a mother deliver her baby the traditional way?

It may be possible to deliver a breech baby vaginally if your health-care professional is trained in vaginal breech childbirth and other birth factors are normal:

Labour occurs at term date (40 weeks)

The baby is the correct weight

The baby is in complete or frank breech position

You and your baby are otherwise healthy with no abnormalities

What happens during vaginal breech childbirth?

The head is the widest part of the baby’s body. During normal vaginal childbirth, it would come out first. However, in a breech vaginal birth, the head comes out last.

During vaginal breech childbirth, your obstetrician will ask you to push your baby out to the point where the legs and lower belly are delivered.

Then, your health-care professional will support your baby’s body while an assistant (such as a nurse or midwife) presses on your lower abdomen. This will help your baby’s head pass through the pelvis as you push. In some cases, the health-care professional may use other manoeuvres or an instrument called a forceps to help deliver your baby’s head.

Even if you and your doctor decide to try a vaginal childbirth, a C-section may be necessary for you and your baby’s well-being if the labour is not progressing properly. For this reason, a breech delivery should happen in a hospital, where a C-section is available if you need one.

When is a caesarean section recommended?
With a breech presentation, your doctor may recommend a C-section if:

labour is not progressing normally

the umbilical cord comes out before the baby

the baby is not in complete or frank breech position

A C-section, like any major surgery, has its risks, such as increased bleeding, pain, or infection.

The recovery time is longer than vaginal childbirth, so expect to stay in the hospital longer. Once you go home, you will need to take it easy by avoiding any strenuous activities while you heal. Talk to your health-care professional about recovering from a C-section.

How do I know the baby’s position?
You probably will not know the position of your baby in the womb. You will likely find out if your baby is breech towards the end of pregnancy or when labour has started. A health-care professional will examine you to feel the position of the baby’s head, back, and buttocks.

Ultrasound will be used to confirm the position. This produces an image of the baby inside the womb you may view on screen.

Changing the baby’s position
Most babies are positioned head down in the last four weeks in the womb, but if your baby is breech, and you are past your 36th week of pregnancy, your health-care professional may try to turn the baby around so its head is down near the birth canal. A technique called
version is used to gently roll the baby around so the head is in the best position for labour and delivery. Your health-care professional will place his or her hands on your abdomen, then push or lift. You may be given a medication to relax the uterus and make the version procedure easier.
During the procedure, your baby’s heart rate will be monitored and ultrasound may be used to check the baby’s position. Very rarely, version may cause problems with the baby’s heart rate or lead to early labour. Your health-care professional will be ready to deliver your baby if necessary, vaginally or by C-section.

Sometimes, the baby will move back into breech position. If you believe your baby has switched positions again, discuss this at your next prenatal check-up. Your health-care professional may try version again, but as the baby grows in the final weeks of pregnancy, there is less room for movement in the womb.

Note: breech childbirth does not necessarily mean you have a C-section, as your health care provider will make you understand your options and let's you make the best decision.

Have a safe delivery.

Version procedures in pic
nice write up. But I don't like your use of healthcare professional. Some will think you are referring to a "just doctor" or otherwise. Assisted vaginal breech delivery can be saddled with lots of complication to both mother and baby so that not just a doctor can perform it but a senior obstetrician. That's very important. Thanks for the info!!
