In your rush to kiss her arse you missed my point: whether she stole public funds or she's fabulously wealthy, she's a public figure in a position of trust. The very wealth of the nation is in her hands. Shouldn't that require some discretion in how she lives just so to maintain that trust and fend off accusations and suspicions?

Would we be having this exchange if she'd lived humbly as a public figure? If she vacates office she can spend her money however she liked. but as it is now, you can't stop tongues wagging. Flamboyance doesnt help her image.

It's not about whether she can or cannot afford it. Public officials are required to be discreet in order to avoid precisely this sort of discussion.

You're right to an extent. It may not be feasible to provide drone tech to all polling units. But parties can use it in regions where they've a weak hold and feel they may be rigged out.

Drones obviously has some limitations but if I were keen on monitoring the election in my polling unit I'll definitely use it. Mobile phones are limited in the sense that if thugs decide to do their jobs I'm sure you wouldn't be standing with ur phone to capture him. Same thing applies if violence were to break out.

Drones are perfect in absence of CCTV compared to mobile phones esp if you want to monitor the actions of INEC staffs and security operatives who may not give you the opportunity of using your phones.

That said drones come with some challenges as well. But these challenges can be overcomed if truly you want to observe/monitor the election.

Drones have limited battery except if you mean the really advanced ones like the predator or mq 9 reaper, which are really expensive and we do not have.

some of the youtube videos you see from conflict zones are captured with phones. Thugs can intimidate one or two voters, but not thousands, not everyone.

There is already an existing tech that can do that effectively and remotely. They are called drones. They can be used to capture aerial views of all the happenings around the polling unit. Mobile phones can also be used but it may be a whole lot riskier.

So....everyone should come along on bring-your-drone day and spend considerable time keeping the drones in the sky rather than actually voting.

Except of course you mean inec should provide one drone per polling unit.

but phones are more ubiquitous and up close. And there are tiny hidden cameras on the cheap designed like pens or eyeglasses but this is too much like spying. We want to deter fraud, not simply surreptitiously archive it.

I prefer the phone option.

think about it. trillions of naira in 16 years and all we've got to show for it are a few trains and some farmers doing facebook on phones.
