PoliticsRe: PDP-Sponsored Documentary On Buhari & My Analysis by brainbox2014(op): 4:01pm On Jan 27, 2015
agabaI23:
That the son of a victim endorsed Buhari does not make his action right. Does it?

He could be one of those people that in haste for a miracle.
It means that he has chosen to look beyond the emotional cloud of anger, hate and fear, by taking a deeper consideration of the motives of GMB and accepting the fact that it was the law that executed his father for a crime he actually did commit. For a man to support someone that made a decree that killed his father, that's not just because he has a forgiving spirit but because he painfully understands the actions of that government and has done a prognosis to infer that GMB will make a better leader. Meanwhile, one of the people he jailed during his time penned some thoughtful notes.

Sentencing a mother of 2 children to death by firing squad to me is not cool.

jailing fella for foriegn currency while allowing 53 suitcases is not cool for me.

supporting and comapring bokoharam terrorists with mend is not cool. turning arround to accuse the president of lacking the will to crush the group u sympathize with is not cool.

The hatred ghananians have for nigerians today was caused by buhari.
I agree with you sir and I share your emotional concerns. Let us think about this... the son of one of those killed by firing squad for drug trafficking during Buhari's regime recently came out to say he had forgiven him and will still support him. What does that tell you? Regarding the Ghanians, hatred is a personal choice. I have Ghanian friends. He never supported Boko Haram sir. He was against the war crimes committed in the North.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0l5gQ1nC5N4

For almost about one hour or more, eyes were glued to AIT yesterday and I must confess that PDP has really tried in their campaign against the opposition. After so many shots, this looks like one final lethal blow, except of course they are not done. Who can blame them? They have enriched themselves well enough to afford the airtime.

So that aside, let's react to the gist they threw in our faces yesterday. I'd give my honest opinion by listing the (1) Bad things he did (2) Good things that he did but have been painted in a bad light (3) Good things he actually did.

Bad things

1) Jailing some 'alleged' innocent politicians.
2) Jailing journalists and activists based on a decree he enacted.
3) Stepping on human rights in a bid to enforce change. No freedom of speech. Strikes were disallowed. Unions (like NMA, NANS) were proscribed.
4) Pardoning Shehu Shagari (his former boss) as he kept him in house arrest while he jailed others.
5) Suspension of the rail project (which I later found out was due to the fact that the money being used for the project was being borrowed and he was bent on paying off Nigeria's debt)
6) Disallowing Monarchs from travelling outside the country, an act many saw as a disrespect to traditional customs.
7) Chasing away illegal immigrants. The same is still done in developed countries though. You can't just reside in places like UK, US... without formal documentations and stuff.

.(± feel free to add & subtract)

Summary: His brief military regime was a draconian rule that made life hot for many.

Good things painted bad

1) WAI: Enforcing discipline with regards to work, sanitation, conduct on roads. This was done the military way and swept Nigerians off their comfort zone.
2) His statement (as the commentary claimed to quote him, as there was actually no video of him saying that) that FG should stop killing his people (northerners) and that instead Boko Haram militants could be given amnesty like the Niger delta militants. Hold on, before you judge at surface value. Reports from Amnesty International and the satellite images that showed the devastation in Baga have collectively proved to us one thing: our soldiers killed thousands of innocent northern dwellers (some in very horrific ways) in the name of fighting insurgency. That was why US raised eyebrows about human rights violation in the North if you can still recall. So Buhari probably has a point but unfortunately the amnesty program that the FG tried didn't work. What he said, he said in good faith.
3) Attempted extradition of Umaru Dikko, one of Nigeria's most corrupt politicians as at then. The PDP in their documentary successfully painted the hilarious method through which Dikko was packaged in a suitcase that was labelled with a diplomatic pass..lol..and the embarrassment attached to the story, but here's the thing they never said...Umaru Dikko deserved to be jailed like the other thieves in his time. People steal little things and get punished severely, some even die. A public official steals billions and you empathise with him when he should have gotten a much more severe punishment. That says a lot in comparison about our justice system today.
4) Drug traffickers were killed. I don't even know why PDP are lamenting about this. In Ghana today, robbery attracts a death penalty and trust me, this law has reduced criminality there. In China, if a politician is caught looting funds or getting involved in any form of corruption, he or she will be executed. My opinion is simple, if you can't do without stealing or going against the law of the land, you can leave. You have nothing to fear if your hands are clean. PDP is simply appealing to the desire in people to be free to do as they like without laws to guide them, but we must not forget that unguided freedom comes at a cost.......CRIME!

Summary: He came to unsettle Nigerians from their relative comfort zones of indiscipline (@public places) and laziness (@work).... and this didn't really go down well with many people. Strict legislation dominates his idea of effective and progressive governance.

.(± feel free to add & subtract)

Good things

1) Jailing corrupt politicians. That's a good thing for me except you're happy when people embezzle public funds.
2) Eradication of Jihadist group (Maitatsine). We've heard that several times but a few times from his critics.

Other good things they didn't mention in the video

3) 1 dollar = 2 naira... which sparked some irritation from the West. The oyinbos felt it was annoying for the currency of a black nation to be that strong. Foreign politics played a role in his removal later on, for obvious reasons.
4) Cleared the debts of the nation and refused to borrow from IMF despite serious urging from the external community. Part of the reason the rail project was 'suspended'.
5) Nigeria was processing her crude oil...and the price was stable.
6) He's a plain person that does what he says (good or evil). I'd rather deal with plain people than the hypocrites in the incumbent government. Even his political opponents can't take that away from him.

.(± feel free to add & subtract)

Summary: He ruled roughly for about one and a half years and his major approach to transforming Nigeria from the state that the corrupt leadership of Shagari left it, was through laws. He believed that a lawless nation where people are just allowed to litter the streets, treat work with levity, loot public funds...etc., could not move forward.

That's my analysis. .(± feel free to add & subtract)

PoliticsHonest Opinion: Why I Won't Vote For Jonathan In 2015 by brainbox2014(op): 5:38pm On Dec 19, 2014
You don’t have to read this if you’re one of those #GEJtill2015 bigots or #BringbackJonathan campaigners because you won’t find the next few lines friendly. This column is neither meant to appease the proponents of Buhari, but it’s a school of thought meant to trigger open minds into cognitive and productive reasoning.
The last 6 years which represents President Jonathan’s tested leadership capacity has been buoyant for some and bad for the majority, with the first group of people majorly made up of sycophants and sentimental followers. People like Asari and Tompolo can’t have any reason at all to complain about Nigeria’s dreadful situation as they are major benefactors of this clueless Government. No offence, but I already stressed that this is not a friendly article.
Boko Haram Yes! Boko Haram. How can you not be expecting to see that name in any article that addresses the performance of Jonathan’s administration? It’s in fact now a household name that is stuck in the mouth of virtually every Nigerian citizen. It’s not like Nigerians are holding the President responsible for the loss of lives but we are not happy with him (till now) about his almost lackadaisical attitude in the fight with the insurgency, his porous leadership that accommodates impunity without shame and encourages corruption which is the bane behind every crime; even the most unspeakable evil deeds buoys down to the ineffectiveness of the Government in rendering justice. So Yes! Our President has failed Nigerians; not because of the Nyanya bombing but because he was seen dancing 24 hours after the barbaric event; not because more than 200 girls were kidnapped, but because it had to take 17 year-old Malala to incite some thoughtfulness in the President to see the Parents of the abducted ones. These gestures from Mr. President aren’t just uninspiring and unthinkable but inhuman. It only goes to show how desperate and blind our President is….he doesn’t really care how much lives are snuffed out every day, as long as he remains President………. till 2019 (in his mind).
For people in the southern part of Nigeria which some consider relatively safe and secure; free from terrorism, it is high time you stopped feeling you’re in a comfort zone; just like Asa said. ‘There is fire on the mountain and nobody seems to be on the run…’ Boko Haram animals are not like common street thugs or even the provincial force of the Niger Delta militants. You know why; these guys are not fighting for money and they can’t be appeased with some oil blocks. This is what our leaders have to admit and stop allowing themselves to get hoodwinked by fake Boko Haram negotiators. As you know, FG recently turned out to be the MAGA while trying to negotiate with supposed Boko Haram representatives. It is only an idiot that will think Boko Haram wants to negotiate. Like seriously?
So think of it, if Goodluck Jonathan is this passive now in the war with insurgency, what will happen during his 2nd term. By the time more terror springs up from all angles (It surely will and I’m not just referring to BH. The more the corruption in Government, the more the crime as time moves on), he simply wouldn’t care who and who dies. Do you really think GEJ will do anything different this time other than what we have all seen for the past 6 years? Think again!
CelebritiesRe: Banky W Takes To Twitter, Laments APC's Non-selection Of Fashola As VP by brainbox2014(m): 5:49pm On Dec 17, 2014
The situation here is very clear. Nigeria is in a very tense situation now unlike when Abiola was voted for. We understand your point and know the angle you're coming from but it would be insensitive to risk a muslim-muslim ticket at this very moment in Nigeria with rumours of islamisation agenda flying around. Some people already see Buhari as an islamic extremist, a muslim-muslim ticket will not really encourage such people to vote for APC. This is a game and if APC decide to look beyond the sentiments, they'll lose. There are more bigots in Nigeria than open-minded people.....It's just WISDOM!

PoliticsRe: 2015: PDP Welcomes Buhari, Urges Him To Engage In Issue- Based Campaign by brainbox2014(m): 12:20am On Dec 12, 2014
McLuhan:
While I congratulate Gen. Buhari on his victory at the APC presidential primaries, I remain unconvinced that a seventy-something year-old former military dictator is Nigeria's long-awaited messiah. Make no mistake, Buhari is, I believe, a very honest man. As President, he would probably be motivated to make an impact, much more than the pathetic effort that Jonathan has so far exerted. No, Muhammadu Buhari is not a bad person per se and my objection to his candidature has nothing to do with his tribe or religion. Rather, I am worried that Nigeria today has not yet birthed a political system that can allow its best and brightest, its vibrant and brilliant young minds, who exist in abundance, to rise to the highest echelons of political power. If our choices for the topmost office in our land are limited to Jonathan and Buhari, what does that say about our level of development as a nation?
do you have a better feasible option....since you can only choose between the two (GEJ & GMB). Maybe you guys should encorage Seun Osewa to run next term. The so called bright young minds are not into politics....Just take a look at the student politics running in Nigerian universities...there are too many junks. Even the younger folks are corrupt so what is the point?

CelebritiesGoogle Explains Why Lindaikeji’s Blog Was Shut Down, Not A Case Of Witch Hunting by brainbox2014(op): 1:41pm On Oct 09, 2014
Yesterday, the Nigerian blogosphere went agog as tech giant, Google shut down the blog of celebrated blogger, Linda Ikeji, following widespread allegations of copyright infringement and plagiarism levelled against her.
It all began a few days back when one Mr. Aye Dee, Editor-in-Chief of United States-based 15Past8 media group, reported Linda Ikeji to Google, accusing her of copyright infringement.
“Google just notified us that they are removing our copyrighted content from Linda Ikeji’s website. All the stories and images Linda Ikeji took from me without permission in the last few days have been removed from her site by Google. Someone has to say something. It costs money to get good work done. I spend time getting information from my sources, as well as analysing and verifying the information. All that costs money. I don’t mind donating my time for Nigeria’s sake, but for someone to take my labour and use it for personal profit, no way!” Aye Dee had tweeted.
In a chat with the Punch, Google’s Manager for Communications and Public Affairs, Anglo-Phone West Africa, Taiwo Kolade-Ogunlade, explained why the blog was taken down and cleared the air on the misconceptions of ‘Witch-craft” and “Enemies of progress” belief.
He said Google takes the issue of copyright seriously, adding that the company belongs to a group of Internet firms that abides by the provisions of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act and other applicable copyright laws.
“To respect the rights of copyright holders, Google clearly spells out how users of its products and services can get permission to use someone else’s intellectual property such as text, songs, images and footages. Google is no respecter of anybody when it came to the issues of copyright infringement, copyright is a big deal.
“Google as an organisation takes issues of copyright seriously and belongs to a group of digital companies that respect copyrights.
“Copyright is a big deal and this is why you can’t just go and pick up another person’s intellectual property or content and lay claim to its ownership.
“That is why we have copyright guidance. I don’t know if Linda picked up any content and I don’t know what content is the bone of contention-neither have I looked into the complaints personally.
“But it is not a case of witch-hunting and has nothing to do with Linda Ikeji’s personality or anyone else because there is a process, and irrespective of who you are in the world, that process would apply to you.
“It has become imperative for online entrepreneurs to respect the rights of copyright holders noting that the Internet community should be built on mutual trust and general respect.
“Let’s respect other people’s rights and intellectual property. Making money off other people’s content without permission is wrong. Although the Internet is inanimate, it is the content on it that gives it life. These are the issues.
“Whenever owners of online contents come after you accusing you of using their content, it is because they have families to feed and businesses to sustain.
“People should also understand that copyrights does not only apply to text, but also extends to literary works, images and photographs, music files and MP3s, movies, movie trailers and videos as well as software,” Kolade-Ogunlade explained.

CelebritiesBrace Up: An Open Letter To Linda Ikeji by brainbox2014(op): 10:24am On Oct 09, 2014
48 Laws of Power, 'must read' book for all suggests somewhere in its pages of wisdom, that every threat should be taken seriously, no matter how small it seems. It takes one level of smartness to get to the top, but a higher level to stay there. Life is in phases dear and I'm sure you know that. Your haters probably had a filled night of laughter yesterday but who laughs last laughs best; you decide that.
I want to assume you're an optimist so that leaves you with two options in life; you either win or learn (not lose). So brace up for some real talk.

First, I think you should have known or done better against your relentless foes instead of just bragging. 'Almost' every news site in Nigeria lifts content from other sites. As long as you quote your sources (which i think you do), so you can't be labelled a black sheep of plagiarism devoid of any originality. So where did you go wrong? In my view, there are two things worthy of note:

1) Expansion: Hiring writers to help you re-write or modify stories would have saved you this stress. You can even hire a few journalists who'll help you cover big events. One or two of your ad banners would probably take care of their wages. This would have given you more time for your personal life and solidified the originality of your blog content.

2) Equally Strong Back-up Plan: Let's assume you don't like the first idea. By back-up I'm not referring to creating a new site or buying domains alone. I'm talking of the ultimate factor which is TRAFFIC (mother of all bloggers) because without it you're going no where.
Sometime in 2012, I sent you a mail about creating a Facebook page which if well promoted would be another great source of traffic. Imagine you had a Facebook page of about 1 million likes Linda! You'd easily redirect that traffic to your new site, but still, the thought of having someone else manage it for you (which takes us back to 1) probably scared you away, maybe.

Well here we are...all that stuff never happened and haters will keep hating so you have to come back better than ever to trample your relentless foes.
I may not know so much about blogging or the internet space but I do know that success is a journey not a destination. You've only encountered a bump so pick up yourself, and run with more 'caution'. If the big I.T companies can be dealt with, then you're not beyond the claws of envy. Remember the word CAUTION even as you kick off again because there are tireless fingers and sleepless eyes still working. I honestly wish you could still get back on the blogger platform because of its security, as Google though has some strict policies and a horrible feedback system (once lost my money to them while trying to get a different domain name through them and getting their help was a herculean task) is nevertheless the most reliable hosting platform i guess. Others can get hacked like knife through butter, when faced with determined internet gurus.

Anyway, I hope you get to read this. My last words for you: Just move and don't let any HATE put you down. Learn from your mistakes and bounce back better......on Alexa. Perhaps you'll be getting married soon too.

Christianity EtcPoem: You Stole The Show...thank You Jesus by brainbox2014(op): 4:06pm On Sep 28, 2014
You stole the show though you had to die slow.
The price you paid did give us aid.
An escape from dragons in the deepest dungeons.
We owe you with our lives which you bought with a price and we didn't have to strive.

We cannot fathom the measure of the treasure in your home.
It transcends us that you shed off your glory to descend among us.
It eludes me how a being so divine will die for a mortal like mine.
The history told of the Calvary story remains to me a mystery.

Your WORD you gave; your WORD like SWORD that pierced my sinful WORLD.
Your LIFE you gave; your LIFE like KNIFE that cut my STRIFE.
Your BLOOD you shed; BLOOD so GOOD it washed off my CRUDE.
Your LOVE you poured; LOVE from ABOVE that made me a DOVE.

How can I thank you enough when you are more than enough.
How can I impress you when you give me such great feelings I can't suppress. Lord teach me to express.
Here I stand at foot of the cross for LORD you took away my dross.
I was filthy, guilty and unworthy but LORD you made me worthy.

Thank you JESUS for with you the world has a reason to look up to us.
Thank you SAVIOUR for you are our soul conveyor.
Thank you MESSIAH for you have become my heart desire.
Thank you HOLY SPIRIT for you did visit and give us gifts we do not merit. You help us not to retreat.
Thank you FATHER for without the power of your love, our lives would be much harder.
Thank you TRINITY for you came in unity to restore humanity to a state of divinity.
