It's important to also note that these people weren't Jesus own disciples, church or even family members, but the great multitude that had followed Him into a deserted place, yet He was moved with compassion towards them and fed them all on both occasions.

Having a heart of compassion for the poor and needy as Jesus did while He was on Earth, seemed to have worked wonders for the apostles, as the mighty works Jesus did out of compassion seemed to have followed them in abundance in spite of His absence.
