There was no injured persons during the said attacks. They were just prevented from voting. That's all.
And is prevention from voting not also a crime?

It's not an assumption. I'm right. There was no casualty during the said attacks. Whether it's a crime or not is another topic. The fact is that you deliberately wanted to falsify facts.
So you are justifying Igbos getting attacked for coming out to vote?

Doing Ritual to get rich is different from politics. When you get to your turn you can concentrate your effort on the minority because the last I checked the majority win the vote while the minority has their voice. Mr winning an election is all about numbers.
Is it not the same things , win election at any cost, that's the same mentality with a ritualist, get rich at any cost, later you will be blaming politicians using thugs to kill people to win election, they will tell you the same thing....

They just want to win election too, I now see why people like you support Tinubu, no single principles, just win election at any cost....

This is one major reason Nigeria is the way it is today, people who reason like you are the ones currently in power now, so all they do is just to win election at any cost then get into power and start planning for the next election, while governance takes the back seat.

You just want to poo-poo the results. Estimates from external resources are actually more credible from the CBN as the central bank might try to hide the true figures. This was the scenario during the Emefiele years.

Check the link below:

No, I have also done my search, the last report by the CBN as at Nov 2025 2as 23.11 billion dollars, so I won't follow the speculators...

====================================================

Nigeria was in economic limbo during the military era prior to 1999, characterized by stagnant growth (averaging 1.5%) and hyper-inflation that peaked at 72.8% in 1995. The year 1999 is described as a clean slate economy because it marked a total departure from this 'extraction-only' model. This reset enabled a move toward market liberalization, most notably the GSM Revolution which expanded connectivity by 4,000%, and provided the international legitimacy needed to clear $30 billion in debt (Okonjo-Iweala, 2012). By redefining the economy through the NEEDS framework, the new democracy moved from fiscal insolvency to a decade of consistent GDP growth exceeding 6% annually.

The transition from military rule to the Fourth Republic in 1999 is often called a "clean slate" not because the problems vanished overnight, but because it represented a fundamental break from a decade of international isolation, systemic looting, and institutional decay.

Here is a more detailed breakdown of why 1999 served as that economic "reset button," along with citations to ground the analysis.

1. Restoration of International Legitimacy

Prior to 1999, Nigeria was a "pariah state" due to the human rights abuses and corruption of the Abacha regime. The return to democracy signaled to the global community that Nigeria was "open for business" again.

The Shift: Sanctions were lifted, and Nigeria was readmitted into the Commonwealth. This allowed the Obasanjo administration to begin the grueling process of negotiating debt relief with the Paris Club, which eventually led to the 2005 $18 billion debt write-off - Okonjo-Iweala, N. (2012). "Reforming the Unreformable: Lessons from Nigeria". MIT Press. (This highlights how the democratic mandate was the prerequisite for international financial re-engagement).

2. From Command Economy to Market Liberalization

Military rule was characterized by a "command and control" approach where state-owned enterprises (SOEs) were used as conduits for patronage rather than service delivery.

The "Clean Slate" Action: The 1999 transition allowed for the establishment of the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) and the privatization of crumbling sectors. The most iconic example was the GSM revolution in 2001, which replaced the moribund NITEL and effectively birthed the modern Nigerian telecommunications industry - Jerome, A. (2002). Privatization and Regulation in Nigeria. University of Ibadan.
The 2001 GSM auction is cited as the single most successful liberalization policy in Nigerian history. It grew the sector from 0.4% of GDP to nearly 10% by the end of the decade - Ndukwe, E. (2011). Telecommunications Revolution in Nigeria.

3. Institutional Rebuilding (Transparency & Accountability)

The military era left the treasury with zero oversight. The "clean slate" involved creating new institutions from scratch to guard the public purse.

The Mechanism: The administration introduced the Budget Office of the Federation and eventually established the EFCC (Economic and Financial Crimes Commission) and the ICPC. These were attempts to erase the "culture of impunity" that had become the standard operating procedure under military juntas.
Citation: Lewis, P. M. (2007). Growing Apart: Oil, Politics, and Economic Change in Indonesia and Nigeria. University of Michigan Press.

4. Macroeconomic Stability (The "Needs" Framework)

The "clean slate" provided the political capital to introduce the National Economic Empowerment and Development Strategy (NEEDS). This was Nigeria’s first coherent, home-grown poverty reduction and economic strategy in decades.

The Impact: It de-linked the budget from the volatile price of oil through the Excess Crude Account (ECA), allowing for a "fiscal buffer" that hadn't existed during the military era's erratic spending cycles.
So what is in this content here that Tinubu doesn't have currently as president of Nigeria ?

Where have you ever heard tinubu give excuses ? Same you forgot tinubu was a governor under same government as obj and met a dilapidated lagos with igr less than 700m and grew it times 2 .

He is replicating same savings and growth model as president, in just 2 years he has done what buhari achieved in 8 years with external reserves, what do you think will be the final reserves if he has done this amount in just 2 years ?
Tinubu still remains the worst Lagos state governor since 1999, he grew IGR that did not really reflect on Lagos... Lagos was almost like a pile of dust bin...

You are still not getting it, politics is about winning elections and making your Mark.
You need to know where to get the Number. If you like use Babalowo/ Babalowo tickets so far it's going to bring out the results.
That is the problem here and partly why Nigeria is where it is today, where people use anything to politics just to win election.

it is like you saying, people can do ritual just to be rich, that the main is to be rich, of course you there will likely be heavy consequences for such and that is similar with what Tinubu and his like are doing, that's why Nigeria is facing heavy consequences.

There should be a line to draw, you don't use everything to play politics just because you want to win election..

What's now the difference between them and a ritualist?
PoliticsRe: Nigeria External Reserve From 1999 To Date By Different Administrations by Brendaniel: 3:34pm On Jan 31

Please note that what was published there was gross foreign reserves and not net foreign reserves.

The net foreign reserves are the actual amount the central bank actually has access to. The other might be encumbered.

Tinubu met $3.99bn in net foreign reserves. Worse, the central bank was owing buyers of forex $7bn. It was a full blown disaster Buhari left behind. $3.99bn could not even cover 1 month worth of imports. The minimum should be 4 months. The severe forex scarcity was what chased ot pursued GSK and a few others out of Nigeria.

Based on this, Tinubu inherited not just the least foreign reserves in real terms but the worst economy ever.

Despite this, when it comes to financial discipline, OBJ deserves top marks. Tinubu is a bit reckless.

However, Tinubu gets the highest marks when it comes to economic policies. If many of the economic policies had been implemented during OBJ's first term in office, the GDP would probably the over $1 trillion today.

Ending the fiscally draining and economic regressive oil subsidy, the floating of the Naira and the present tax reforms are light years ahead of others. The economy is finally moving sway from it's over reliance on crude oil.

Even though Obj isn't a fan of Tinubu, he has been rather quiet regarding his governance. That alone speaks volumes. Obj is known for constructive criticism
Provide verifiable evidence to your write up or pack all you wrote and thrash it in the bin...

A Minority Muslim from the South can never be Nigeria president picking a Minority Christian from the North as vice president because of the population of Muslims in the North .
The you just indirectly said the northern Muslims only vote because of Islamic religion ?

And you think there is no big problem in that?

That's the hypocrisy I am calling out, can they take the same thing from Christians?

Nigeria was in economic limbo during the military era prior to 1999. Everybody was well aware of that. 1999 was widely regarded as clean slate. Pick any sector and start working, that was the state back then.
You just said the economy was in limbo, explain to me hos that became a clean slate?

What exactly was given to OBJ that Tinubu does not have now that made it a clean slate, please list them out, you can't call something a clean slate without explaining what made it clean.
PoliticsRe: Farouk Aliyu: Nigerians Who Feel Bad About Muslim-Muslim Ticket Should....... by Brendaniel: 2:59pm On Jan 31
So in other words he just said it is good and justifiable for Muslims to use their religion to play politics, these are the same people who may have started riot if a Christian from the south picked another Christian from the north as VP and won...

Don't you see the hypocrisy here, and guess what in this case? Their partners in this crime are still the Yorubas, look at them here already justifying it, that's why I keep saying that a lot of the nonsense the north is doing in Nigeria is because the Yorubas indirectly or directly enables them just to gain partnership with then come back and start shouting southern unity( I'm not blaming all Yorubas though, but if you are among them, your conscience will be pricking you reading this).
