What regulations are talking about, because you’re sounding like an illiterate if you don’t know. The same regulations that apply to the aviation industry but they decided to make you people cry by increasing air fares?. Regulations is one thing, a deregulated industry is another. Learn to understand something before speaking next time.
So what are these agencies existing for ?

You might just be referring to yourself...

I am using AI too and market rate for dollar in 2023 was 700 while government rate was around 500. Did your AI tell you anything different?
Bottom line is there no state whose budget has not increased substantially in dollar value since 2023. That is the point I am making. Osun was 200 million dollars in 2023 and 500 million dollars in 2026 if we use 500 to one dollar in 2023 and 1500 to one dollar in 2026. If we used the market rate for dollar in 2023 then the gap will even be wider. That is the point.

Kano's budget 2023 350 billion which is around 700 million dollars if exchange rate is 500
Kano's 2026 budget is 1.47 trillion which is around one billion dollars today at exchange rate of 1500
Show me the screenshot like I am doing..... I didn't bother reading the rest of your comment...

If I use 700 that was the rate in the open market then Rivers budget will only be some hundreds of millions of dollars and not close to one billion dollars but I closed it at one billion dollars using 500. You were wrong about Rivers 2026 budget. It is 1.8 trillion and not 1.4 trillion and that is like 1.3 billion dollars. Then Rivers state is not a state that depends on allocations. They have always had IGR. Use a state with insignificant igr
I won't respond to you if you don't show me working calculations with verifiable exchange rates sources, you can't be throwing claims without evidence...
PoliticsRe: Private Depot Raise Petrol To ₦800/Litre In Lagos by Brendaniel: 11:26am On Jan 04
lawani:
550 billion was not more than 1 billion dollars back then. There was even a dual exchange rate and the economy was a mess because of that. In 2023 most people could change dollars for around 700. Only government connected people got around 500. If we use 700 exchange rate which was the market rate then the budget was much smaller
Rivers might be doing something wrong but they still moved from under one billion dollars to like 1.2 billion dollars or thereabout which is an increase. Show me one state that experienced a decrease in the dollar value of the budget. Let's even use 500 for 2023 despite that the market rate was 700

Rivers state budget in 2026 is 1.8 trillion and that is over 1.2 billion dollars. The figure you quoted is wrong
Why not do your own calculation and show me to prove your point?

Use verifiable calculations like I am doing to drive your point, stop using your own exchange rates that are not verifiable, I am using AI with verifiable links for my calculations, do the same...

Because I can equally stop using AI with verifiable links and start dishing out my own exchange rates to my favour...

The guy I responded to said that Jonathan brought in Pos into Nigeria which is not true..

Pos has been in the Nigeria system before Jona even become Bayelsa governor..
But it was during his time POS withdrawal started, it was actually the CBN under his government that implemented it, it is written there in the article I sent to you...

Can you point out any state in Nigeria that is not doing 250 percent of it's 2023 budget by dollar value in 2026? I doubt there is any. Different governors have different plans and that is why I mentioned the Enugu governor. Enugu maybe doing up to 500 percent if not more of the dollar value of it's 2023 budget
I've decided to reply you so that you can see for yourself that your analysis is wrong if you stake it only on budget...

This is Rivers state budget for 2023 by Wike, 550 billion naira converted to dollars was 1.34 billion dollars, I used 2022 exchange rate because I didn't want the exchange rate to clash with Tinubu's exchange rate in 2023 and the budget was passed in 2022 for 2023.

Now in 2025 using Tinubu's exchange rate Rivers state passed a budget of 1.4 trillion and after conversion to dollar is 966 million dollars, you see why I told you that Tinubu's allocation did not increase in any value, infact it decreased....

And if you use state budgeting as a yardstick you would not get the actual value, because state governors differ in planning,

What you should be looking at is FAAC allocation value sent to the states in dollars which I have also shown you the calculations that it decreased in value due to the naira devaluation...

So what exactly has Tinubu improved?

The simple research shows that anyone who believes Tinubu is not doing well in economic management and building future prosperity of the nation has NO knowledge of how wealth is being built, hence they are poor in reasoning and wanted everything free from government.
How do you want me to take this your statement seriously, when you people including Tinubu said the same thing for Buhari for 8 years but today we all know better...

So asking for good governance now means trying to collect free things for government?

What then were you blaming Jonathan for during his time, where you people also asking for free things?

The 138 billion naira in Osun was also funded from different sources just like the 740 billion, so it cancels out. The main source of income for Osun is federal allocations. Leave Osun and research other states and it will be the same thing

I don't know what you are talking about
In 2023 Osun budget was like 138 billion naira which will be like say 200 million dollars then. I am not sure of the exchange rate. In 2026 the budget is like 740 billion naira which is like 500 million dollars now. Osun is not doing any significant igr. If you go to Enugu that does igr the difference will be far more pronounced
Governors differ when it comes to budget, do you know all the sources of the funding of the budget? do you know if loans will cover a lot?

You should have read further to where it talks about price control rather than just copy the part that appears to support your narrative. This your post is half information.

The government input in the prices now is in the areas of taxes and general revenue to the government, unlike before that the government will fix prices.

It's always good to read well and digest before interpreting and forming opinions on issues that's as sensitive as this.
Why don't you post the full information and prove me wrong, you are now changing goal post, initially you claimed government does not regulate price again, post the full information, and if the government can control the prices through taxes and the revenue like you claim, why are they not intervening?

Are you saying that the agencies the government is spending billions to run every year as price control agencies is useless to the citizens?

You think if China were having citizens like you and the rest of us here they will be anywhere near being a world power today? China had citizens that are busy in Engineering, Sciences, Economics and working hard to earn forex into their country during the period of hard economic challenges. They never utter statements to run down their own country and expect it to be great at same time. China went through very long years of economic challenges, inflation ,poverty, and eventual economic growth path. They never clamored for subsidy, they performed their own duty as citizens and not busy patronizing foreign goods to the detriment of their own local industries. Everyone/every household in China were virtually manufacturing one item or the other to kickstart the growth we see them enjoy today. They were not busy doing the opposite. The citizens strongly believed in their own country to prosper and the country did eventually prosper them. Leaders come and leaders go. Every leader is for a time and purpose. Don’t let us start all these wrong mentality this 2026. The country has been badly structured since we abandoned regionalism to embrace federalism/ presidential system of government. This must be corrected or else it will remain difficult for any microeconomic impact to be felt no matter who is the president.
Lots of policies are very wrongly applied and it is our hope they can be corrected not completely thrown away as this could lead to a complete waste of fund.
As usual, try to gaslight Nigerians, the same Nigerians travel abroad and beat them hands down in the things you listed here but to you the citizens are the problem, the leaders are doing their best, always trying to flip logic over its head supporting nonsense because of tribal support, I have replied on of your type this morning who wrote almost exactly what you wrote here, how you people think in one destructive irrational direction is what is destroying the country...

Is that what Tinubu is doing ?

Oga, are you in this country at all? Do you even know the meaning of deregulation? If you don't know something, you calm down, listen and learn.

The downstream is completely deregulated. So marketers and depot operators are free to fix their prices without the government intervention. That's the reason Dangote refinery has been playing ping-pong with the marketers because he refines his products and is able to toy with the importers that have other bills like shipping and logistics to deal with.

As it stands, if Dangote refuses to raise his own prices, you will see these same depots bring down their prices in the coming week because this would make the marketers buying from them to switch to Dangote and the depots will start losing business. Besides, it means more crowd for MRS and other outlets marketing Dangote's products.

That is what I am telling you, I only used that as an example, From Buhari's time check the prices of goods and services, I deal on cars, all the cars we were selling as low as 700k in Buhari's time now go for as much as 3 million naira some even close to 4 million.

I don't think you are correct. Osun budget in 2023 was 138 billion. In 2026 it is about 740 or so billion and Osun is not doing any significant igr. Naira has only devalued from 500 to 1500 and the budget should have increased by only 300 percent
That's because you did not also factor in inflation, let me just give you a simply example, my friend in 2013 bought a brand new 2013 Toyota Camry for 7.2m today in 2025, 70 million cannot buy you the same brand new of the same Toyota Camry...

The inflation that has taken place under Tinubu in reality is over 400%, but I know you may want to argue...

Yes devaluation is a factor but without devaluation the allocations still increased. In Osun state the LG allocation was seized and there was no issue at all despite that salaries more than doubled. If you did your calculations very well you will find out allocations substantially increased. The governors have more money now for development. However the money is still not enough
