kayjordan: I cannot tell you for a fact that Tinubu has failed as a President. His Government is a work in progress just as the other President's. The next President will continue the work in progress like a chain-of-command. One President alone cannot build a country in one tenure. It's a continuous process that gives past Presidents and future Presidents to come landmark legacies - so that, in the future, the people will say "these are the people that built this Nation" rather one person building a nation. Tinubu destroyed what he met on ground, like I told you, you are very far from reality.... |

lawani: I did not claim they are serious or more serious than the Biafrans. I said there are Yoruba groups agitating for Nigeria to break up. I did not blame Igbos for doing it the wrong way. I said Yorubas who you say oppose Biafra don't really oppose Biafra. At least most of them. They only say your leaders should lead it instead of the needless killings and etc. Read 90% of the comments on Nairaland and see those who talk down on Biafra and MNK, they are mostly Yorubas, the Yoruba groups agitating for break up are are very small in population among the Yorubas who still want 1 Nigeria, try and do a poll here and see how many Yorubas want to leave Nigeria... About the killings, most of the killings are retaliatory, especially the ones done to security operatives, you can't come to my land kill my people unjustly and think they will go scott free, the Nigerian government caused a lot of death on security operatives in the south east, though I don't support any form of unjust killings... I am yet to see any seriousness on the side of the Yorubas that they actually want to leave Nigeria... |

Maybe they love Nigeria as it is Oh so you don't know why your own people have not done something you call the right way but you claim they are serious about leaving Nigeria. but then you are blaming the Igbos for doing it their own way and calling it the wrong way, if your way was right why hasn't anyone tried it? |

lawani: They say if they are serious, their leaders should take charge of the quest. Actually Nigeria is not difficult to break up. All that is needed is to appeal to the right powers and there are many Nigerians from all over with the right connections. Even one person is enough. Sp why have your people not done it if they are also serious as you claim? |

kayjordan: My location rarely matters in this context.
On the contrary, I enjoy this conversation. It gives me the opportunity to understand Nigerians and how they feel.
From what I've seen in Nigeria, all Presidents that have ruled Nigeria have never been spoken well of.
The same in USA, UK, Europe, Africa and other parts of the world.
I know a man who said to us during a conversation we had with him, that he doesn't want any political post because he doesn't want people to point dirty fingers at him.
Only the President and his team can truly defend their government. I can only analyse patterns, behaviours, culture, people, resources, interests and many other variables that create people's actions, people's decisions and social changes. If as at now you don't know Tinubu has failed as president then you are very far from reality... |

lawani: Why Yoruba land in west Africa should be united
If Germany, divided by the victors of the second world war, can reunite, then there is no reason why Yoruba land divided into several countries in west Africa during the colonial era should remain divided after colonisation. The same applies to Hausa land, Igbo land and etc. The most valid basis of organizing the Earth is by ethnicity before any other thing. Every ethnicity should have autonomy over their affairs and if they can't stay alone as a sovereign country they should decide who to align with and they should also be able to opt out of any alliance that they don't want. Yoruba is huge and there are more people of Yoruba descent in the Americas than in west Africa just like there are more Irish in the Americas than in Ireland It is a shame that the Yoruba are locked in a country like Nigeria where interests can not be aligned and where something as basic as security can not be gotten right amongst other defects.
There is no part of Nigeria that is poor and that should be afraid of a breakup. What is missing is the joining of hands via taxation to solve basic problems like education and healthcare. Northern Nigeria is not poor. They, for instance, consume about sixty percent of the cement produced in the country and it is unlikely their population is up to sixty percent of the total. They are therefore not poor but they need to join hands together. No part of Nigeria should be afraid of a breakup of the country. Look inwards as a group and develop your strengths, protect your identity, lift up your people and etc I have said this same thing before as an Igbo man but the problem now is are the Yorubas in Nigeria ready to leave fighting the Igbos and supporting the project 1 Nigeria and backing the Fulanis to invade west Africa? Igbos fought war for 3 and half years to leave Nigeria, MNK is prison today for the same thing, many Igbos have been killed in their land by Nigerian government for the same thing, Igbos lost about 3 million of their people for the same thing... What have the Yorubas done in that regard? |
Politics › Re: Tinunu Is Not Yoruba Ideal Leader But Still Govern Better by Brendaniel: 7:01pm On Dec 13, 2025 |
nobaga: When we think about how we disapprove of Tinunu character voting against him in Osun and Lagos, we must also ask ourselves: apart from Yoruba leaders which other Nigerian leaders have moved the country forward economically?
The answer if we want to be sincere is other leaders brought their own people in to ravish Nigeria's wealth unlike Obasanjo that used every ethnic group to move Nigeria forward economically.
So much was expected of Jonathan because of his background, he went back to parochial interest after the North and South elected him for first term. Even worse, he left Nigeria Delta environment worse than he met it. That's why a lot of your people hate Obasanjo and love Tinubu because Tinubu is an ethnic supremacist and OBJ is not, even one of your Obas called OBJ an Igbo man, secondly Igbos have not ruled Nigeria for over 50 years and the only time an Igbo man ruled was not more than 8 months, so pack all the blames of the destruction of Nigeria on other regions that have ruled since then.. Lastly don't console yourself with this write up, Tinubu is a Yoruba president why? Because he played the worst form of tribal politics ever known to Nigeria and that may rub off on all Yorubas both now and in the future though not all Yorubas support him but because he used the the Yoruba tribe to play politics then the rub off might go round, then instead of him even to even show workings as a tribal leader he is still performing badly, imagine some of your people rejecting Osinbajo for Tinubu and calling him Odale. Doesn't it show that those your people just wanted as ethnic champion as president and not a president who will work for everyone, Osinbajo will have being a bit similar to OBJ and some of your people did not want that... they wanted an ethnic champion |

kayjordan: Nobody prays for a median score but a much better score. President Tinubu's performance is affected by existing realities on ground.
The 70% is a score tag I'm assuming in his administration - the real score could be higher.
President Tinubu is working and his cabinet members are working as well. If the citizens are not happy with the score card at citizen level, then the citizens are free to elect someone else they feel will beat the benchmark.
Just note, it's still the same citizens that are considered faultless that will vote for an ideal candidate.
And also not, some compromising civil servants in collaboration with the faultless citizens will still compromise the election's outcome as people often suspect. It's very obvious you don' live in Nigeria,, It's like I'm wasting my time having a conversation with you as you are very far from reality... |

kayjordan: President Tinubu has removed some ministers in his administration. If the President gives portfolios to ministers, he expect them to execute them. If they underperform, he would relieve them of their duties.
The reasons you may be citing, could be centred around security, electricity which are major concerns - but the reason a President might not fire the heads of these ministries or agencies is if the problems are understandably beyond the ministers control.
If the President doesn't arm them with enough resources, they won't be able to deliver and the President would probably understands.
In many cases, some ministers are required to raise funds for some projects - if their efforts reflect a good score on their score cards, the President cannot fire them - they don't necessarily need to score 90% on the score cards to impress the President when they've passed the cut off mark of 70%. The President would only encourage them to do better and not fire them for scaling past the cut off mark.
If the resources are there and the ministers don't utilize them, then the President has the liberty to terminate their appointments.
The President sees the work put in by his cabinet members - many citizens cannot see them. The Presidency understandly aims for likely 70% on score cards; the citizens want to see unrealistic 100% on score cards. And Tinubu has has failed below 10 percent, Tinubu has failed seriously, if you call Tinubu's performance 70% do you pray to score that type of 70% rating even if you aim for 70%? |

kayjordan: If a bank CEO fails to perform he is fired - correct. A bank is a smaller institute compared to a larger institution "Nigeria".
There's a guarantee that a high-performance CEO of a bank would likely fail as a President - why:
1. Number of personnel to handle. 2. Large number of portfolios. 3. De-centralized supervision system. 4. Characters of civil servants to manage Etc.
The banks do well, their CEOs do well, Staff do well but their customers complain...
Same for telecoms.
? The board of directors for banks and telecoms will focus on the CEO because they expect the CEO to deliver and be responsible for the hiring and firing of his team - so the CEO will get rid of bad team members to ensure company's profitability . If a team member doesn't perform well, the CEO will fire the member to save his reputation.
The board won't change the CEO because the CEO and his team are working - just as the President and his ministers are working. But customers of these same banks and telcos complain and the CEO remains untouched - citizens complain about the President, but gets re-elected again.
The problems of businesses and government are interwoven and they affect each other.
Citizens make a chunk of the country's problems, leaders make a chunk of the problem and that how it's going to be.
An improvement on the behaviour of people and leaders will make a little difference.
But 200 million citizens against 5 million civil servants nationwide (for example) shows the difference - if half of 200 million Nigerians alone are as bad as the 5 million civil servants (TOTAL) - where's the bulk of the problem?.... So why is Tinubu not firing those that are failing in their duties like a CEO? |

kayjordan: The country needs leaders in all walks of life. The reason why the country need leaders is to steer the country on people's behalf and that can only work if the 50% population I initially assumed fulfill their own obligations as citizens by obeying laws, paying taxes etc - that's how the population can work for the government and how the government 'in return' work for the people.
Offices that you described also have the same structural problem. Staff criticize the boss for some policies, boss also criticize staff for negligence and many others.
If a company is built on a bad economy, definitely the staff will complain.
If the company is in a shaky low-profit industry, the staff will suffer delayed salaries and complain.
If a company is prosperous, there will be staff that will steal from it. If the company is broke, the staff will blame 'stealing' on the company, if the company is rich and paying salaries regularly, and the staff are stealing from the company, the staff will blame it on the devil.
Company CEOs too are like staff as well - it takes two good heads to make a company work and to avoid situations of the company folding up or going bankrupt.
There's an office culture of "MIND MY BUSINESS" whereby only the boss treats the company like his own but on the other hand, the staff treat the company like a job and can't wait to leave at 5pm. The same principle applies to many Nigerians. So why do banks not sack all the staff when it fails to meet target? why do they focus on the CEO? So why are we bothered changing presidents na? is there any need changing them ? Then there is no need changing presidents now, why are we then wasting our time spending billions to change president every 4 years ? To do what ? when you claim that over 50% of the population are not ready to support the country to work. So you are indirectly saying we have been wasting our time changing leaders and also planning to waste our time in 2027 to change leaders? So are we just wasting our time as a country? |

kayjordan: Many Nigerians have this same heart felt pain.
First: You must acknowledge parties have manifestoes that concern the electorates (the people).
Second: Aspirants must align with a strong party to deliver their personal or Nigerian dream. Without a powerful, effective vehicle, that dream won't spread past a state.
Third: Elected officers are working. People's expectations are bigger than the political foot soldiers on ground.
Four: The people don't really care about the government nor its policies. They make the work/job of government more difficult through break down of law and order.
Nigeria is working through the 10% of the population which make up Politicians for example; the country needs at least 50% of the adhering population to make the country work to a reasonable degree. If the country needs the people to work then why do we need leaders, there is no need having leaders... If we can just achieve the 50% of the population as you claimed then having leaders is totally useless now, imagine where you are telling a failing company that the company is failing because of the workers and not the leaders managing the workers... What then do we need the leaders for if the workers can all do what the leaders failed to do? |
