fpeter:I may not know what device you use, but most smart phones would occasionally back up whatsapp chats such that even after deleting chats, they can be retrieved from the backed up ones. However if you delete chats, does your spouse delete too? On the flip side you have phone calls and emails. I know spouses don't really communicate much by emails but when am making such applications, I would normally drop a line or two twice a week by email to the one am inviting. Nonetheless phone calls are a very good means of communication. I may not know if you are the husband or the wife, but you can get call logs from both ends. In the UK service providers would give you monthly call logs (maybe on request). In Nigeria, you swear affidavit at a court with which you would get police clearance. With the clearance your service provider would give you call logs (usually for the last three months, or 6 if required). If you persuade them, they can give you a cover note as well. |
KemBee86:Your case is very similar to mine, only that my wife is preggers at the moment. I will email you; respond and then I'll give u a list |
jprince2:I don't suppose so. So you are certain the dates you gave are different from those on their birth certificates and Int'l passports? I don't advise mocking about with guesses anyway. If I were an ECO I probably would be hard to convince. I would query on what basis you gave the first date of births on the previous application, what prompted you to give what you gave... But let others share their thoughts... |
jprince2:Weren't your supporting documents returned to you? A copy of the original application form ought to have been returned likewise. |
KemBee86:Uk General tourist visa for 6 months... Give me a general background to your quest... when are u applying and what would be the reason for the invitation? |
tozdi1990:Not having a job in Nigeria and applying for a visit visa is a killer. A good job in Nigeria can be a good tie as it is what you would leave the UK for. Also other loopholes created doubts in the ECO's mind as to whether you were a genuine visitor. When you applied last year, did your uncle provide a sponsorship letter stating he as supporting you and did he provide his biodata page? Not providing evidence of communication with your wife was another killer. People could forge marriage certificate. People could even marry only for papers and cos they have no relationship their conversation might be minimal or infinitesimal. It's not a must to use the same sponsor or bank statements, but you would do well to address the issues in the past refusal. |
kclub83:Omo, this one no be God matter o. I mean, it's not to be treated less than it was. That man wouldn't have had only you as victim. Some people need to learn from experience. You for sue that man, as he gave you a bad record. Sue him for 5 Mil... my opinion ![]() Anyway you would need to wait for the ban to be lifted naturally. UK immigration Law states you would refused if you present a falsified document even if it is WITHOUT YOUR KNOWLEDGE. So even if you apply now and try to explain that it's not your fault, it wouldn't make much difference. |
ekpotek:I give it to you, your opinions have a very strong solid base. I remember a lady once shared on this forum the refusal letter of her mother inlaw's visit visa application. Her case is similar to mine, but according to the refusal letter they failed to include the proof of relationship between herself and her mother inlaw. Also on finances, they quoted the applicant had £278 in savings in her Nig account but the ECO said there was no evidence of the funds. So I reckon the mother inlaw's bank statement was missing. In my case, for relationship proof; I have my marriage certificate which shows my wife's mother's name. I also have my wife's date of birth which shows my wife's mother's name. I also have money remittance receipt of sending money to my mother inlaw as well as call logs and a few pictures of myself, wife and mother inlaw together. These are on top of the other documents... |
ekpotek:Ok, are you saying my mother inlaw lists my sister's name as her family in the UK under that section in the application form? Aaah, if I go by that I have a lot of family here ooo. My sister, my brother, myself ALL CITIZENS.. That would definitely be seen as my mother inlaw having plenty ties to the UK. Mother inlaw does not communicate with my sister or brother. They only met on my wedding day in Nig and never again since then. |
ekpotek:Well, I guess so. Thanks for expounding. Talking about family in the UK, what do you then have to say about my case? We inviting my mother inlaw to come visit us (wife and I) for 2 months as the application states. This is to provide emotional support to my wife as she gives birth. I have already sent forth my supporting documents to Nigeria. The application has my name as son inlaw and my wife's name as the daughter of the woman we are inviting for which I am the main sponsor; my wife would part sponsor. Part of the documents I sent was my mortgage statement for the house. I partnered with my sister, also a citizen, to buy the house as my wife is only a year old in the UK and can't ordinarily be included on a mortgage. However the finances to purchase the house was generated between my wife and I only. The mortgage statement states my name and my sister's name. So I asked my sister to do a letter stating that she only teamed up with me for the purpose of the mortgage and she does not live with us which is true. I did not include my sister's name as family my mother inlaw has in the UK. Would you say my sister is family with my mother inlaw? There's no relationship. There wouldn't be inlaw directly attached to my sister here, but with me I am son inlaw. What do you have to say on this? Their TLS appointment is this week. |
ekpotek:Yes I agree with you 100 per cent, but I think Home Office is more interested in attributing immediate family as your family members |
ekpotek:But the family membership as stipulated by Home Office for the purpose of visit visa application doesn't recognise that thought... Naturally we know a cousin is family... While answering the question if you have family members in the UK, what the Home Office sees as family (immediate family) are listed clearly and cousins ain't there ![]() |
ekpotek:BEST ANSWER 100% |
Hustob4real:Depends on your pocket size and how desperate you are... see attached image for pricing for a 6 month general visitor visa. However ignore the selected 'standard'. This period (visa season), you are most likely not gonna get your visa in 15 working days if you chose standard.
|
KemBee86:In my opinion... 1. Yes, you can include the hotel. It does not matter whether closed or in operation. It is a landed property. What about people that have only virgin lands as ties? Your case is even land with a structure. 2. Do you pay council tax? Council tax and bills should suffice. 3. You can use payslip, bank statements and letter of employment. You do not need to go ask your employer to do you a letter, simply fetch your contract letter from when you were hired. |
Advisory:Nooooo, this is damn too risky. Backdating pay increment start is not same as backdating employment start. They are just toooo different. Your explanation is similar to someone claiming arrears or pension owed them for long, that can be backdated to when they were originally due. It's risky here for employment start. What makes sense to a Nigerian might not utterly make sense to an ECO. |
fakmurphy:TLS would not send your original documents to Sheffield. They would scan them at your appointment and give the documents back to you and send the scanned documents to Sheffield. All those documents you use as supporting documents need to be A4 for them to scan them. If you have any documents that aren't on A4 size paper, then you make a copy of that document unto a standard A4 size and attend the appointment with these and the rest.. YOU ONLY NEED TO PHOTOCOPY DOCUMENTS THAT ARE EITHER SMALLER OR LARGER THAN A STANDARD A4 SIZE, e.g. marriage certificate... |
Thecassanova:The application is basically online and you can apply from anywhere but choosing the option of Nigeria as where you are BUT you would have to go to Nigeria for biometrics if you say you applying from Nigeria |
fpeter:This case is different and the circumstances here totally different as well. Nonetheless no one here knows the mind of the ECO and no two ECOs are exactly the same albeit there are rules guiding their decisions. Most times ECOs judge by instincts even when you apparently have all they required on paper. This is why some people appeal, wherever possible, and win sometimes. Whatever info you get here is advisory. However I believe it's better to compare opinions to give you a better position in order to avoid refusals that can attack your travel history. |
amehrada:In treating your matter, utmost care must be taken. On page 16 of Immigration rules, a visa can be cancelled at POE on your circumstances. See the page below, under Change of Purpose - V9.3 However if you marry all the advise you have got on this forum, you should be fine.
|
Godaboveall:Yes, I reckon you should only worry if the bank statement is over a month old, but less than a month should be fine. Have you applied online and there is no date available for TLS appointment? |
showstopa:Not only that; the guy said he is going to visit a FAMILY FRIEND. A family friend is not even a family member/relative. |

TatPat:Many thanks |
I saw somewhere on the TLS website that the original supporting documents would need to be photocopied by the applicant and submitted alongside the originals. Did anyone do this, or is it really a requirement since the original supporting documents would be scanned to Sheffield by TLS anyway? Also, does the applicant get the supporting documents back after the scanning on the same appointment day, or would they be posted at a later time? |
senn:Many thanks boss |
I wanted to ask. Once one does online visit visa application, is there a requirement or provision to print out the completed online form and add to the documents to submit at the TLS appointment? There is such for spouse visa application, I don't know if it's same for visit visa. Am now ready to apply for my mother inlaw, but I want to be the one to fill the online application myself here in London but it would like she's the one filling it since it's online and location does not really matter much. Then if there must be forms or acknowledgements to print off, I believe they should be able to log into the account in Nigeria and print what I must have filled (or must I print myself and send the hard copy documents to Nigeria?) Note, I have already sent my supporting documents through a friend that visited. |
blza:Do you know the balance a sponsor could have to be able to invite the mother inlaw to visit and stay for like 3 months? The house is mortgaged. |
ekpotek:Council tax bill bears both their names; I suppose a council tax bill alone suffices for proof of address? In that case the sponsor which is the husband will write the invitation letter inviting the mother inlaw and sign it. The wife will also sign. |
Was wondering if a woman, who is not a citizen yet but legal in the UK, was having a baby with her husband who is British, intend to invite the lady's mother to visit them in the UK. The husband is the sponsor. Would the letter of invitation come from them both written as a single letter, or if the sponsor alone has to write it? |
Yommieyomi:You can still get the visa even if your proposed travel date and intention for travel have passed. That would not be a yardstick for denying the visa application. |
