foworola: There has been a lot of back & forth with this AOS thing & i just have 2 say a thing or tow about it. my hubby won 2010 & we went from the UK so our experience is a bit different from a lot of people on this forum.

AOS affidavit is a very detailed document that entails ALL about your host. that document could be used to destroy someone's financial life in this country. So, 95% of people may not be able to give it 2 anyone except their immediate family. I personally can not give it to a friend cos i don't want to put my family into trouble if this friend decides to be fraudulent, which happens! Also, the affidavit is saying that this person will be responsible for you in the capacity they stated in the form, so if i say i am giving u a certain amount or accommodation, that means you can sue me for not giving it & you will win cos once the form is signed by a notary then its legal. there have been sad instances in the past when this have happened to people trying to help others.

My advice is that you can request from a friend gently but do not ask more than once if you have to. this is cos some people don't know how to say no so instead they wont pick your call again. you have thereby indirectly destroyed that relationship or whatever help you may have been able to get from the person.

Thank God you don't need it in Nigeria, so ... its your call
Thank you. The Lagos Embassy have replied that its not needed for Nigeria but if you from other country pls email your embassy to know if its needed or not and goodluck if you inssist in getting one.

Don Kool: In the hopes that this will help someone, here's a more descriptive rendition of my experience on interview day- (This is for Lagos, Nigeria peeps)

1. Got to the location at about quarter to nine. - depending on the nature of your character, this helps. Getting there late will put you in rush mode and may make one jittery, anxious and unsettled.
There is a car park just after the embassy that charges 300 naira per car.

2. Found out that approximately 30mins to your scheduled time, the consular staff will come and call interviewees for that time e.g, if you are for 9am, by 8:30 they will come and call you. So, aim to be standing in front of the embassy at least 45minutes before your interview.

3. After being called, you'll file in to where your 2NL will be checked & collected. you'll be issued a paper indicating how much you'll pay, a slip for your contact details and card(s) to be attached to ur passport(s) (one card per passport). CO will collect the cards from you after successful interview.

4.Then, you'll go thru some stages of screening to enter the embassy.
NOTE: don't take anything you don't need. they don't allow liquids, food, battery operated devices (except wrist watches and car keys), sharp objects,...the list is long! So, no ipod, ipad, walkman, scissors, or just don't bring anything you don't need. If during the three stages of screening, any contraband is found with you, you'll be sent out to step three and file in again. Moreso, you'll need somewhere safe to stash whatever it is they bounced you for i.e, phone, token.... and if you don't have a car......
Books are allowed though, so you can take one to read while waiting.

5. once inside, you pick up a tally number (note - the sequence for immigrant visa is different from non-immigrant so pick the right one) the security personnel there will guide you.

6. then you'll proceed to pay your visa fees (for DV it's $330 or its equivalent in naira per person). Payment is in cash so take the exact amount in US dollars OR equivalent in naira with plenty jara on top as you won't know the exchange rate until you get in by which time it wouldn't be wise to start coming out to look for more cash. Collect your receipt and keep it safe. CO will collect it from you.

7. then your (tally) number will be called for collection of your documents. Take all your originals with you and make a copy of everything! I feel this stage is probably the most critical. IF your documents are comprehensive enough then your interview should be smoother (just my opinion o!). I took some work documents they were not even interested to see, ... but i would rather have had them there and not need them than need them and not have them. I think this is where they collected the contact information slip we were given at entry.

8.After this, you wait for the CO to call you for interview.

General notes: there are all kinds of characters around the place ranging from the dollar seller/buyer to instant passport photograph booths to even people with staplers for rent. Best bet is to arrange yourself properly BEFORE you get there. the most challenging thing there I saw while there was people who came without cars and had phones and stuff they needed to stash somewhere safe while they would be inside the embassy. some of the Mopols outside where willing to help (for a price) and some where assisting FOC. However, you should know that whatever services you require there will cost more than what you'll normally pay around your area.
Overall process can span from 3 to 5 hours so eat something solid before you enter (except you are waiting on the Lord of course).
good job my brother.

Pelumiv: No 4. In the application form says " City where you were born" Assuming u were given birth in Oshodi in Lagos. Will Oshodi be the city or Lagos? Am kinda confuse here, any help from Oga Temmy, Mr Aderemison, Brightmon and other Gurus?
write Oshodi. Meaning in your brith certificate ther must be Oshodi there and on your int'l passport, place of birth must be Oshodi.
All information must tally.

mannet: Hello Gurus in tha House,i really enjoy ur discussions and contributions on this forum as it has helped both winners and future winners, specifically i will like to mention few of these guys like Adesojiaderemi,Temmytanny,Brightmon and co who have sacrificed their precious time to share their experiences.I have a few question even though am not a winner yet but i hope to be soon,my question goes thus:
1.On Blacklisting; i applied for the DV 2013 the first day of registration and applied with format name (Chukwuma,Ciroma Adekunkle with a passport) and as the registration was about closing an aunty of mine requested to help us do a family application which she collected all our passport including mine(am above 21 but i never knew i wasn't eligible for family category) so she collected and did the registration over the in the states, later i discovered it wasn't a family registration she did cos she sent me a confirmation number(which means that i have done a double registration) though the passport and name format she used was different from the one i did(she used,Chukwuma,Adekunle Ciroma)...now can this really be termed a multiple entry/reguistration and can i be blacklisted for subsequent DVLottery program, and if am fortunate to be selected for the DV2013 by October 22nd,will it in anyway affect my processing visa.

2.Gurus in the house that have scaled through the interview and gotten ur visa; what do u think might make someone to be denied of visa on interview day? and from ur experience, perception and intuition, what really is the CO looking out for in an interviewee. We need to know all this before hand cos these guys can be very funny, when they deny u visa sometimes it looks as if heaven has shuts it's doors at u cos there's no amount of plea or conviction that will change the CO's mind.

thanks for your help and reply in advance
My brother, hmmmmm.
1:Honestly, your application MAY be disqualified but if its lucky not too and the CO ask you any question abt it, i will advice to come clean.
The Department of State implemented the electronic registration system beginning with DV-2005 in order to make the DV process more efficient and secure. The Department utilizes special technology and other means to identify those who commit fraud for the purposes of illegal immigration or those who submit multiple entries.
2: They want to see you being confident and courageous. Honesty, No lies, No fake document or credentials. You cant be a B.Sc or Phd holder and talk like an Olevel holder and above all Na God, prayer.

How am going to apply because I have interested on this programe ?.
How can I apply my surname & the child surname.
Also, should i apply with my husband pix because is not interested on d programe.
Can only me & my daughter apply without him?

Are you living together? Yes
What is your highest qualification? O'Level & Diploma in Programming.
for the fact that you are married and still married him, you have to include you husband.
You can apply for him and suprise him if you win. All you need is his passport which i believe you should have. Scan his passport and adjust it to size.
Apply for yourself, include ur husband and child(ren) as beneficiary then apply for your husband and include yourself and child(ren) as beneficiary.
Hope you have ur marrage Cet't ?.
Good luck.

The embassy will reply you if its needed and pls, update Ghanians in the house of the reply.
