CrimeRe: Borno Massacre: Army Reveals How Boko Haram Deceived Farmers by britiko: 7:47pm On Nov 30, 2020
chronology:
According to dailyPost

Nigerian Army on Tuesday, disclosed that the 43 farmers killed on Saturday at Zambamari were in close contacts with the Boko Haram terrorists without informing the Nigerian authorities.

The Defence Spokesperson, Major General John Eneche on Monday while speaking on Sunrise Daily on Channels TV said the insurgents deceived the farmers that they will be preaching to them.

Eneche also disclosed that Boko Haram informants are informing the insurgents about the movement of the army, while other citizens in the area are refusing to give information to the army.

One of the presenters stated during the programme, “One of the survivals said they have been in contact with these terrorists, in fact, they will tell them to help them carry load, and they will do that, apparently these terrorist were among them.”

The General responded, “We cannot force people to bring out statement. Even this one, they deceived them that they are preaching to them, and that has been the main problem. We are going to overcome this.

“It’s like cornering the people. First, they said we are going to preach to them, deceived them. Like the person that commented on the issue, they did not even hear gunshot, it’s like cornering them.

“That has been our worries, it is a concern for us. For instance, just like it has been said, we believe strongly that you need a guide, you need a lead. Would they tell us? That is the question we have to ask. Yes sometimes, and most times no. That is the issue we are trying to confirm.

Look at another situation, our patrol will pass through a place, by the time you are going, some people will be looking at you, when you are coming back, you will meet an IED planted on the road, and people saw them, they won’t tell us.”

He also disputed the figure by the United Nations on the number of persons that died. Noting that contrary to the report by the UN that over 100 people reportedly died, the Army has so far counted 43.

“The military assisted in the counting. Some people ran to the bush, and are trickling back into the villages. They are still counting,” Eneche said.
They should just shut up and stop d blame game and insulting the memory of d dead. Ur intelligence shows farmers were communicating with boko and you guys couldn't outsmart the assailants? What kind of gibberish nonsense talk be this nau?
PoliticsRe: Presidency Criticises Killed Borno Farmers For Farming Without Military Clearanc by britiko: 4:03pm On Nov 30, 2020
adenigga:
The Nigerian government has criticised the 43 rice farmers killed in Borno for not getting military clearance before going to their farms.

Presidential spokesman Garba Shehu said the farmers should have gotten a military clearance before going to farm.

“The truth has to be said. Is there any clearance by the military which is in total control of those areas? Did anybody ask to resume activities? I have been told by the military leaders that they have not been so advised,” Shehu told BBC in an interview.

“People need to understand what it is like in the Lake Chad area. “Much of those areas have been liberated by Boko Haram terrorists but there are a number of spaces that have not been cleared for the return of villagers who have been displaced.

“Ideally, all of these places ought to probably be allowed to pass the test of military clearance before settlers or even farmers resume activities on those fields.”

About 43 rice farmers were killed by Boko Haram in Zabarmari, about 20 kilometres from Maiduguri, on Saturday and were buried on Sunday amidst tears in the community.

The United Nations described their killing as “the most violent attack” targeted at civilians in 2020.

While governors in the northern region have condemned the killing and called for better security, Shehu said that the military cannot be in every part of the area.

“The military is not present on every inch of space in that area,” Shehu said.

On the possibility of people returning to their farms and homes around the area, Shehu said, “even if the people are ready to go back, some of these areas have been mined and mine clearance has to be carried out first.”

Nigeria President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday expressed grief over the killing of farmers on rice fields at Zabarmari, in Jere Local Government of Borno State, describing the terrorist killings as insane.

“I condemn the killing of our hardworking farmers by terrorists in Borno State. The entire country is hurt by these senseless killings. My thoughts are with their families in this time of grief,” Buhari said.

Slain Borno farmers didn’t get clearance to work on rice fields: Garba Shehu
The Buhari administration appeared determined to deflect responsibility for the weekend carnage that left 110 villagers killed.

Presidential spokesman Garba Shehu says farmers who were slaughtered on a rice field in Borno’s Zabarmari village should have obtained military clearance before resuming farming activities in the area.

Mr. Shehu who spoke to BBC newsday said the government was sad about the tragic incident, but added that the “people need to understand what it is like in the Lake Chad Basin area.”

He claimed that though much of the area has been liberated from Boko Haram terrorists, there are still a number of spaces that have not been cleared for the return of villagers who have been displaced.

The truth has to be said. Was there any military clearance from the military who are in total control of the area?” Mr. Shehu queried. “Did anybody ask to resume activity?”

Mr. Shehu emphasised that he had been briefed by military authorities that the villagers did not seek military advice before exposing themselves to “a window that the terrorists have exploited.”

“So ideally, all of these places ought to probably be allowed to pass through proper military clearance before resettlement or even farmers resuming activities on those fields,” he said.

The presidency’s apparent misspeak comes barely 48 hours after Peoples Gazette reported that at least 43 rice farmers were beheaded by terrorists while working on their farms. Subsequent reports indicated that the fatalities was around 110 persons with some women also abducted by the marauders.

Mr. Shehu’s comment may be viewed as unempathetic and insensitive, even for a government that has become notorious for refusing to take responsibility for obvious failures of governance and always seeking to shift blame.

CrimeRe: Zabarmari Massacre: Rice Farmers Beheaded By Boko Haram In Borno(Graphic Photos) by britiko: 11:51am On Nov 30, 2020
JoeEeL:
It could be several things.

First of all, there is what is called the Chad Basin. Situated around parts of Borno and southern Chad area. It is touted to hold immense potential of land mineral resources. Rumour is France and some other foreign bodies are using Islamic terrorism as frontiers to cause unrest and displacement so that legal / illegal mining of those resources could begin, if it hasnt already.

Second, Kanuris are home to Borno, not really the Fulanis. Kanuris, the Shuwas and some other tribes are indigenous to those places only that Islam has dominated those places too, thanks to the role the British played when they came to join this country. Now it appears the Fulanis want their brothers wandering in the Sahel to become indigenous to Nigeria. So this may appear to be simply ethnic cleansing, although far fetched.

Third, they could do it merely as a way to set an example. They are being compensated by the Federal Government and they make demands. That's why you keep seeing governors saying 'they will continue negotiating with bandits' (pls substitute the word 'bandit' for 'Boko Haram'). If Fed govt dilly dallies, they set a public example.

Fourth, it seems the Arabian and Middle East world wants to further expand their territories. If ure observing the world at large, you would have observed that Islam is trying to dominate Christianity. They do this by marrying multiple wives and by conquest (go read the fall of Constantinople). And they have vowed to Islamise Africa, no matter the cost. By now you should realise North Africa don't see themselves as Africans. They see themselves as Middle East. They're coming further south bro. Hope u know they're trying to dominate the Northern parts of Cameroun too?

Five, it could be the continuation of Othman Dan Fodio's quest. He swore on his life that the Fulanis must own and overrun Nigeria until the Quran is tossed into the Atlantic Ocean. It seems the Boko Haram sect feel that the government in power are not serious fully about Islamising the country or making their wandering Fulanis really fully settle in Nigeria. They somehow feel those in power are not strict adherents and are just merely corrupt; hence the show.

Six, they could just kill for fun. Islam is one kind of religion that if you read some words at face value, you're bound to pull out a sword.

So scarman, watch. cool
Thanks for the insight...
